I need to drop my rating from 5 to 3. The service recently has just been less than average at a premium price. Picked up my two turkeys and wanted to get additional items. At least, the turkeys have the gizzards liver and neck inside them this year. Simply took forever seemingly in slow motion and the person behind the counter wasn't friendly, and the cashier was incredibly unfriendly. Would be great to see the owners in from time to time. Haven't seen them in the last 20 visits. read more

A colleague suggested I visit Alpine Butcher when I mentioned I was looking for wild boar. I was able to get wild boar and I picked up some maple bourbon steak tips that were the absolute best steak tips I have ever had - super tender, great flavoring. It is not cheap but it is really worth the price for the quality you get. The counter staff was really nice and helpful with cooking suggestions. The store is well organized and super clean. Love this place. They have a ton of great cuts, they do their own sausages, and my new personal favorite: they do amazing custom burgers. (There are premade burgers that rotate through, but they also do custom burgers, pick your ingredients, pick your rub.). I was heading to a bring your own BBQ and swung by here to pick up burgers and buns. Ended up with a lunch as good as any I'd get from an excellent steak place. Other people might have been leering enviously in our direction. :-) I could say something cheesy like "I never knew you could win BBQ"... but we all know that all BBQs are a competition. The review is for goat meat only. Goat meat for those who enjoy eating it, know that it is not available at all butchers or grocery stores. But thankfully they usually have them in stock. The quality of the goat was good. The prices are comparable to the other stores. I wish they would have fresh meat, but I guess since the demand is not that high, only frozen goat meat is available here. The store is clean, well organized and has a good selection of meats. One of the few places in the area where you can get authentic Japanese A-5 Wagyu. When I ordered mine it even came with a birth certificate. Staff was supper helpful in recommending the right amount. Wide variety of high end and normal meats. Worth the drive. read more

You really can't beat a top notch sandwich with cuts straight from the butcher shop. And that is exactly what you are getting when you come to Alpine Butcher. The reuben I had was excellent. There is no where to sit here so everything is to go. I wanted to eat half of the reuben in the car before I left to drive to my upcoming meeting. Instead I finished the whole thing before i left the parking lot because I couldn't stop with just half. If this sandwich is a sign of their other to order specials, I don't think you can go wrong at all. These are going to be your top notch meals, just remember you won't be eating it in here. Every time I visit I'm in and out with quality meat and I get it cut how I want it. To be fair the only thing I have bought are the short ribs, but everything looks good. This last time going the parking lot was closed due to construction on the street and I couldn't get in. We've been searching for a butcher shop with wagyu steaks for a while, so we were pleasantly surprised to find Alpine Butcher right on the Lowell/Chelmsford border. They have super high quality Japanese A5 wagyu, but they also have Australian hybrid wagyu steaks which are really hard to find. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion. Even their regular USDA prime steaks are very high quality, better than any grocery stores in the area. We also love the steak and cheese sausages! Customer service is really good as well read more

Duck Bacon!!! This place has house-made duck bacon and they were so good! My family fought over the bacon bits! If that doesn't convince you to check out this place, they also make delicious sandwiches. I've tried their Reuben, Turkey BLT, and Cuban Melt. My favorite is their Reuben. If you're on a diet, use your cheat day on this! Of course, I need to mention their beef. We picked up their center cut beef tenderloins and they were amazing! They carry tons of spices, sauces, and condiments. Even though this place is small but it's clean and the staff is very friendly. It's a great one-stop shop for date night - grab your beef/meat, sides, and wine and you're good to go! Stopped by on a recommendation from a co-worker. Quite the variety of meats, sausages, and other misc goods. Picked up some house made hot sausages to grill out on an unseasonably warm weekend in January. When I asked about the Garlic Provolone sausage the person working the counter gave me one on the house. I'm in the customer service business and this stood out as a moment that I'll remember for a long time. In my brief interactions with two other employees, their level of customer service was exceptional (engaged, sincere, positive about the product, good eye contact, exceptional rapport building). Happened upon Alpine Butcher in Lowell after going to Lowe's. First off I will say the staff is VERY helpful and friendly, and greeted us upon entering. For anyone familiar, its right across from the the Cross Point Office Complex along the Lowell Connector. Upon entering you see a SUPER clean store with all kinds of prepared foods and meats. They have very reasonably price Prime cuts of steak that price out as basically the same as what Butcher Boy sells their top Choice cuts for. They even have Prime Sirloin Tips! They have hamburger that is 85% and 95%. The 85% looks much better than the highest anywhere else. They offer all natural chicken, as well as Bell and Evans, my favorite. The seafood case was empty as it was Monday, and fresh seafood is only available Wed to Sunday. Pork, sausages, and loads of cold cuts, and a huge display of dry aged meats, which I've never seen at any butcher shop! Didn't try the sandwiches or salads, but I hear they are fantastic. I didn't try the steaks this go around, but can't wait to return and try them out. read more

This has been our go to place for quality meats for several years but I had never written a review. We found this place online and took a chance. It was almost an hour from us but it was well worth it! We walked in having very little clue on what we wanted. We originally thought it was just going to be a butcher shop but it was so much more! They had a variety of meats, cheese, beer, wine, but they also had grocery items like bread, desserts, pasta, seasoning, and sauces. Every staff member we spoke to was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly! We ended up leaving with four steaks and a bottle of wine. I just found out that you guys now deliver. Which is the best news of 2019 thus far and likely not possible to beat. I moved down to Roswell GA last year and have been devastated by not being able to find a butcher shop that comes close to both the quality of the your cuts and the service by Thomas, Greg and the staff. I have gone to the extend of having Greg and Thomas vacuum seal and freeze Picanha cuts for me so I can take then back in my luggage when I travel back and forth for work. This is like Christmas for me. You're custom service is top notch, I always found it great to be greeted by name when I would come into the shop. I was shocked and surprised that the last time I had come in Thomas both remembered me by name and that I was living in GA after not seeing me in the shop for more than 6 months. Alpine Butcher is the best. Family owned since 1913... and you feel like family when you are in there. Alpine is conveniently located right off the highway near Tavern in the Square and the Lowell Cinema... it's hard to drive by once you've been in there. I've lived in Boston for the last 8 years but I've made an effort to drive back to Lowell to go to Alpine when I want meat. I go in there a lot and I even notice customers going in for their first time are treated very well. One thing I notice is you never just see someone aimlessly standing around, I think within 2 minutes of being in there, one of the employees will greet that person! "Hi! How's everything, anything particular you're in for or I can help you with?" Very consultative and helpful. They have the best steak I've ever tasted. The only challenge is that it's so good, that when I go to a steak house, sometimes I find myself dissatisfied or I'll just order the chicken. I typically will get the marinated steak tips at Alpine. I personally love the steakhouse and the maple bacon ale. I grab those anytime I'm invited to a barbeque and I'm trying to make a good impression. I always have the host ask me where those game from? All the marinated chicken is great as well. I'll typically get the sirloins, 12 oz, burgers, and they also have Japanese Waghu that is really good! What ever your looking for they most likely have it or call in first. I also like the variety of extra stuff they have in there. All the products are very unique for example the unique spices they have like Tacticalories Seasoning and IPA's like Lunch from Maine Beer Co. I also like the stuff Alpine makes on their own like "The Rub" ... and the buffalo dip!! Buffalo dip is hard to walk by on a football Sunday. They have everything in their you need to make a nice steak dinner. They also do shipping now which I'm very thankful for!
