You order at the counter and employees call your name when your food is ready. Everyone I interacted with was perfectly pleasant and working hard. This particular chain offers a good many more combinations than many other fruit bowl competitors, which I think is mostly a good thing, though the menu can be a little overwhelming! In addition to bowls, they also offer smoothies and juices. Bases (in other words, the smoothie-like substance that forms the bottom part of a bowl) can be acai, mango, pitaya, oatmeal, or a green, coconut, or banana blend. Again, a little overwhelming, but fun to have so many options. I settled on the Electric Mermaid, which has a pitaya base and is topped with granola, pineapple, mango, kiwi, coconut flakes, and honey. Sadly, they were out of kiwi when I visited, but the employee was kind enough to offer to substitute another fruit or to double up on one of the fruits already in the bowl. I did double pineapple because it's my favorite. :) Overall, the bowl was yummy and well-balanced. All the fruits were perfectly ripe, not too mushy, not too cold, etc. It ran a little on the sweeter side thanks to the honey, but overall, I'd eat it again! There isn't a Playa Bowls particularly close to me, but I'd be happy to return and continue to try out some of their other combinations.
