Rude staff, they made us get out of the run because ONE MISTAKE THEY MADE WE NEEDED TO RUN AWAY OF THE ROOM AND THE SHOWER!!! There are no elevators so be prepared Noisy street Great location inexpensive rooms but staff was so rude wouldn't stay here again From 6pm-10 am you are on your own. You cannot contact anyone not even in the case of an emergency nor issues with your room /stay. Bedroom/mattress: Within seconds of getting into the room we laid on the bed. Our mattress was so bad that we actually had them come up to our room and try it. When laying or sitting on it you were literally making contact with the springs. Floor/cleanliness: The floor was dusty and it didn't look like it was cleaned before our arrival. And by the way, room service is impossible to get in the first 2 days of your stay. Even if you request it the answer is a "No". Your room can only be serviced after 2 days and that's it. No compromise. Bathroom: toilet is tilted in such a way that your knee almost touched the toilet paper roll. The bathroom sink was very slow at draining the first 2 days and then it simply stopped draining. Shower: as others have noted it is hard to get the correct temperature. Most of our showers were warm at best. The plumbing/water issue is way wrong. My boyfriend is very tall and he had to bend down/scoop down to be able to be under the shower. Disgusting place, would never in my life stay here again

Travelers Beware!! I booked a hotel in advance in Puerto Rico. Upon arrival at Novona Studios Guest House (Hotel) at 3AM on 4/15/2023 there was no access (keys) given to enter the property. Upon contacting the owner of the property I was told that the keys should be in the lockbox and to use the code provided to open said lockbox. Again there was no key(s) to access the property. I was able to get access the following day after the owners put the key in the lock box again. Upon speaking with the property owner in person the following day (4/16/2023) they admitted that another customer took the key intended for my access and placed them in the checkout box. The owner also acknowledged that the use of only 4 lockboxes for 13 rooms was not the best business practice and said they would speak with other owners about a possible refund. A refund was issued but minus the taxes associated with a 1 nights stay. When we spoke with the owner again on 4/18/2023 they said with an attitude, "I've given you all I'm going to give, you're welcome", and walked away. I contacted Expedia for assistance, but as I suspected they were no help. They apparently reached out to the owner who gave them some BS story. Expedia then argued that I should have called them immediately when the incident happened, then closed the complaint and hung up on me.

Navona studios This review is regarding room #2 on the 2nd floor. This is not a hotel. From 6pm-10 am you are on your own. The bed had an indentation meaning that the mattress needed to be replaced immediately. They went to another room and put a slightly better mattress on top. The next morning they actually took both old mattresses and replaced it with a new one. Stained/dirty comforter: The first comforter was stained. When the staff came to replace the mattress they also brought another comforter. That one was clean and so we used that one. The next morning they brought a brand new mattress. So we took the pillows and the clean/un stained comforter and put it on top of out luggage. We put the dirty/stained comforter on the floor with the stain clearly showing. Well, the staff took this stained comforter that was on the floor and that is the one they left in our bed!! We decided to sleep without it. That's just simply rude. Balcony room is very noisy so bring earplugs. In summary the best thing about this place is the location as you are in Old San Juan. However I would never stay here again.

I picked Posada San Francisco because of location and lack of kids. There are no adults-only…read moreresorts on Puerto Rico, and I figured a hostel was my best bet. And it turned out to be a great idea. The location is perfect. On the outer edge of Old San Juan (OSJ) you are only minutes away from anything in the area but out of the huge tourist crush from the other end of town. When looking at a map of Old San Juan you will think it's bigger than it is. To walk from the Posada to El Morro on the opposite tip of OSJ might take 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace. I booked the standard double bed private shared room. It cost me $58 per night because I had to pay for 2 people instead of just myself. The single supplement sucks, but it's still inexpensive. The room was clean, clean, clean. And the satellite TV and air conditioning worked. I had to share bathrooms but one was always available when I needed it and they were always relatively clean if not just clean. I appreciated that the other guests during my stay were not slobs. The women working the desk and the one man I saw regularly were always polite and friendly. No issues with service. I used the washer and dryer while I was there, but I got up early to do it so there was no wait. And they are both in good condition - either new or very well-kept. All in all, my four night stay cost me $252 which includes taxes and online processing fees. That amount would have gotten me one night at a resort or hotel. For the price and location, Posada San Francisco really can't be beat, and I would stay here again. Tip: Because I stayed on the 6th floor, I didn't interact much with the other guests. If you're on the 4th floor with the dorms, you'll meet more people. Tip 2: They rent bikes for cheap. Don't forget that. I did.

Lots of restaurants and tourist shops around to venture towards and located beside the fort. It's a great location, and with another gal pal - I felt safe walking the streets around the area even in the evenings. For $34/night including taxes and fees, it's totally worth the humble hostel environment. Great balcony views, huge kitchen on 5th floor, small fridge in room, flat screen tv and personal AC unit. Rooms open with key cards and on my floor (6th) there were three bathrooms to share on the hall. Bathrooms are not dorm style where multiple ppl are in them but single bathrooms where you close the door and lock behind you. One has a shower stall and the other an actual tub. I Never had to fight for the bathroom or wait. I saw a cleaning lady everyday and the bathrooms were clean but bring your own toiletries and even a hand towel to dry off. You do get a bath towel for each person in the room. Certainly not bad at all ...

It made exploring the area so easy and enjoyable. That said, the space itself could really use some love. The overall feel was more like a motel than a cozy vacation stay. The sheets looked worn and bland, the bathroom had a humid smell, and we even found a cobweb in one of the glass cups. The toilet paper holder was rusty, which added to the sense that the place hasn't been refreshed in a while. We stayed in unit 5. My suggestion to the host: you're in the middle of so much charm and beauty -- let the Airbnb reflect that. Even small updates like upgraded sheets, replacing old furniture, and a deep clean would make a big difference. It doesn't have to be expensive, just thoughtful. With some improvements, this spot could really shine!

One that seemed empty but one was clearly occupied with shoes and clothing on the floor. I felt SO bad. Once we opened that door we just locked up and left. Not fun knowing someone's room key works for another. I almost gave this a two star, but my travel partner (mother) said three so I gave Casa Luna the benefit of the doubt. It started off so promising because I've had good experiences with hostels and this one even looked better than most. I received a message from one of the female hosts or two of them...and they provided me with a number to contact them. The second message was stating the room (room 11) is ready and they will send instructions soon. This was about 11AM and my flight was 1:45PM-4:45PM. We arrived in San Juan and had to get our rental car and find our way to Casa Luna. The streets were packed and lots of one ways. We finally found a parking garage not far and walked right up to Casa Luna. One of the good things is that it's findable on Google Maps. We happened to walk up to the main door right as a couple was and they used a key to get in. My mom wanted me to walk in after them but I didn't know if we should since I know they have separate rooms etc and I wasn't SURE what door that was although their sign was outside. The only instruction I saw was that after 6PM we'd have to use a lock box. The lock box on this door was open and empty and my mom was getting smug about how we should've gone in with the other people. I called the number provided twice before they called back three minutes later at 6:20PM. I identified myself and explained the situation. The woman tried to tell me that our door for room 11 would be up the hill and I should've Seen the picture of it in the instructions. I reiterated that I didn't receive any instructions and she scrambled to figure out what happened. She finally realized she took the key with her so she offered room 1 which was supposedly an upgrade after we said we didn't want a room with more stairs because my mom has a slight knee injury. She said this room is clean but the air wasn't turned on for us that's all. She was right. The room seems clean and the air quickly cooled us down. There's a mini kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. Some dishes for use and a dining table. The lighting is limited but they have lamps to brighten it up. Currently I'm writing this review from the bed next to the door which is off the street and has no weather stripping so air and sound leaks in and out. Sounds like there's a dozen people outside taking photos and possibly just hanging out right at the door. I'm about to push the rug up against the bottom of the door to try to muzzle the sound. The WiFi is awful. We can connect and then nothing loads. I turned off the WiFi to use my data to do this yelp review. The tv and "cable" are useless. The tv and all the programs (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, amazon video) are unusable because the tv can't connect to Internet. Seems like some other people had an issue with this too and I wonder if Casa Luna knows and doesn't care. Clean place with AC and a good location that's all I can say. The price could be dropped for lack of any real amenities though and the false advertising. Was a hassle to check in.

We were not told of a deposit until after we had to check in. Were promised return of deposit permitting nothing was stolen, damaged, etc. We returned the keys and everything was left as it was found. The guy in charge said he would be there at noon on the day of check out to inspect and return deposit. After waiting for him for 45 minutes and after various attempts to contact him, we had to leave to catch our flight. He was unresponsive until 7pm. I asked him about the deposit several days in a row and he kept saying he would get it to me through moneygram as per my request, but never did. After three or four days of repeatedly asking for the return of deposit, he decided to say that he didn't owe us any deposit and that we owed him a balance of $35 from a $75 lockout fee, which we do not have to pay because he clearly said "don't worry, I am not going to charge you" because it was not even our fault. Wouldn't do anything when other guests were being disruptive (barging into our room) and were told "it happens". One of the other guests was telling us that the owner refused to show the guest ID. Other guests creeped out. Had no a/c but whatever, that was advertised. Overall unreliable. I guess you get what you pay for. A hostel probably would have been a better choice. Reported to the BBB and of course, no response. Just out for your money... Obviously.

Our cab driver recommended this place, so glad he did. We didn't want to pay a lot of money to be at a place where we'd only show up to sleep. When you walk in, there's a steep staircase to the main floor. No lights were turned on, as if the manager was saving energy. The check in was easy, we had called from the cab and asked for availability. Glad they had a room available. The shared bathroom and kitchen were decent, though a bit far from our room. We were hoping for a room with a window, but for reserving same day I guess we can't complain. They do have a balcony which lets you enjoy the sights and sounds of old San Juan. We sat out on the balcony looking over the old Spanish architecture, and enjoying the sounds of the bustling town. This place is ideal for those who wish to save some money and be able to explore the old San Juan without breaking the wallet or stressing out over driving. I'd probably stay here on my next trip to Puerto Rico (unless I stay with old friends on the island). FYI: we experienced this hostel in July 2013. It may have changed.
