Look for another location. Horrible management. Incorrect info on website. No nearby parking, you need to find "somewhere " to park in neighborhood. Hours are incorrect. We had the unpleasant experience to discover last call for food order 6:30pm. When I shared my displeasure with the manager she said the hours had changed. I pointed out that the QRCodes on ALL the tables went yo website that said 8pm. ...and the printed menus said 8pm and yhe only reason we found out that 6:30pm was latest to order food was we happened to be at the beach next to building to hear "last call" times. Everyone at hotel stated that website and printed menus were out of date....no obvious signs stated different hours. Manager very aloof, but sh did take the qrcodes off the tables...printed menus and website still wrong. We encountered another couple who ordered food at last call. They were very unhappy that food served was cold and did not have any condiments. Next issue there is only street parking...we had to park .75 miles away from motel. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a retreat in the city of San Juan. It was absolutely beautiful to wake up to the waves crashing every day and having coffee on the beach each morning. The vibe: cool, trendy, laid back. The restaurant: gorgeous décor, mostly great food, delicious drinks right on the beach at your lounge chair! The staff: all very friendly - I especially loved Joanit and Aminda, who made me feel at home! The service: very good except when I asked for a bowl for my dog, they refused. They said they only have outside bowls for the beach that can't be used inside the hotel rooms? Also they didn't want to give me a bowl from the restaurant initially, but then a staff member helped me out later. The location: in the gated community of Ocean Park, adjacent to the trendy neighborhoods of Santurce and Condado. A quick Uber ride can bring you to Old San Juan and Ubers arrived within 5 minutes from my experience. The rooms: honestly, nothing special. The cleaning could have been a bit more thorough getting the nooks and crannies. I was glad to stay in an interior room, as I wanted quiet. If you stayed in a beach-facing room, you could hear the music from the restaurant below. I loved that the room came with free lounge chair rentals on the beach. I also loved that wifi instructions and free snacks and drinks were in the room upon arrival. I did not love that there wasn't a hair dryer in the room. The A/C was powerful and kept the room cool. One thing that was a bit surprising was that the power went off multiple times one night. The first time was at about 9pm and the room went pitch black, which was kind of scary. I was searching for my phone flashlight, but the power came back on about 30 seconds later. This happened again at 2am. The internet in the room was good for streaming initially, but after the power outage, the internet cut out about every 10 minutes. Overall, I had a great experience and I would definitely come back! read more

What a spot. The beach is divine. The setting, magical. I was last here in 2006 when I spent the day at what was then, Pamela's. The new version is just as wonderful. We came for drinks as part of our piña colada crawl. It was 20.00 pp min at 5 PM. No problem. Their version was number two on our crawl. We had beach bean bag chairs so were very comfy. Hubby has been staying here during his weeks working in PR. I stayed over a weekend in February. The place is fine, in general, with a gorgeous location right on the beach but zero amenities. The continental breakfast includes fresh fruit and really bad pastries and coffee. You can, however, drink your coffee right on the sand. Excellent customer service. The formerly well-known restaurant is closed with no plans to reopen and it appears that are not making much of an effort to completely restore the place. That being said, for the price it remains hubby's top choice for a place to stay during his week-long trips to PR. read more

Numero Uno is all that we expected. Right on the beach, reasonably priced, kind of small (think european style). It was quiet and unassuming, with a free breakfast of bagels, cereal and fresh juices. It cost us about $150 a night on Expedia and I wouldn't pay more than that. There is wifi and it even mostly works well in the building. If you're in room #10 don't expect much though. The beach is just gorgeous -- white, pristine, with palm trees and only a little activity. They've got free beach chairs and service out to the water for drinks. You can go to Pamela's and have a meal and sit at the little corona-esque tables right on the sand however our meal was so-so during lunch so unless you just want the convenience, try a spot outside of the hotel. You definitely feel safe with the gated entrance and you can park just down the way on the street, rather than having to pay for parking. I'd stay here again, especially if just looking for a low-key beach vacation. read more

All in all, my wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. After searching for beachfront hotels in nearby Condado, I was really discouraged. The rates were outrageous! But, luckily, I discovered Numero Uno, thanks to positive reviews on TripAdvisor. So, instead of paying upwards of $250 a night--plus exorbitant "resort" fees--I was able to book at Numero Uno in quiet Ocean Park for around $180 a night (which included a continental breakfast and all taxes). The guesthouse, which was a converted beach house, offered everything Nova and I needed--a clean and comfortable room (newly remodeled), a beachfront location, an on-site restaurant (Pamela's) and an extremely accommodating staff (particularly Milton, Robert, Berkis and Christian). Our room--a so-called Economy--was fairly large and had a King-sized bed, along with a huge closet, remote-controlled ceiling fan, two bedside tables, a desk and a small flat-panel TV. The adjacent private bath, while tiny, was nicely appointed with a boutique hotel-style vanity and a glassed-in shower. During our three-day stay at Numero Uno, we spent every morning at a table on the beach enjoying our breakfast. We even had a great lunch, also beachside, at Pamela's one day (see separate review). And when we were ready for our several hours of daily beach time, we relaxed in Numero Uno's lounge chairs, shaded by their giant umbrellas. When we were ready to get off the beach, it was no problem. The neighborhood, largely residential, is only a 15-minute cab ride from Old San Juan and Condado, so it's pretty convenient. It has a lot to offer, too. Just a short walk away, there are several local restaurants, a mini mart and a Walgreen's. Really, the only downside of our stay was that our room--number 3--was right next to Pamela's kitchen. While the noise wasn't bad most nights, during our last night the kitchen staff was making a racket until 11 p.m. There was also a slight odor from Pamela's dumpsters during certain times of the day, which we could sometimes smell as we came and went from our room. That aside though, we had a great stay at Numero Uno and would have no problem returning for another visit. We'll probably just stay in different room next time. read more

My hubby and I went to PR first time in June 2015. We picked a small beach hotel to avoid very expensive not all-inclusive resorts and also be stress free. We stayed here and I was happy we did. It is just a few feet from the beach and have beach services (free umbrella, lounge, table, service, free breakfast, free wifi) the beach boy move your lounge as you wish and no one seat there all day. The Walgreen and kasalta are nearby along with la cueva del mar and other restaurants. We bought beers and snack there. Gated community, very safe with a super clean area. Locals and tourist enjoy the beach. The beach have waves sometimes hard sometimes soft, is very clean, warm and windy. No one litter there or touch your stuff. When we were ready to get off the beach, it was no problem. The neighborhood, largely residential, is only a 15-minute cab ride from Old San Juan and Condado. The pool is very scary thing, dark 4 ft deep it would make a great water garden with fish and lilies. No real need for a pool here. The nicest area of the hotel is a large terrace on the third floor that is reserved for the penthouse apartment guests. They have another terrace in the 2d floor as well. Our economy room was just fine for us. Good AC, comfy bed and bathroom with hot water. Wi-Fi was medium strong and the signal went all the way to the beach. Apparently this place got sold! Our reservation was cancelled TODAY for XMAS!! apparently they are going to remodel the whole place in 2 weeks and they need to start now?!?!?! Absolutely despicable and heartless. Can you imagine what kind of new owner would do this to his guests say nothing of the old owner who would allow this to occur immediately after the sale. I guess neither of them gives a damn about their guests or the future reputation of this place. I stayed there previously about five years ago. It was ok. I'm not a fan of staying in locked communities where basically you are isolated from everything. I guess it's a security thing but it kills the vibe of PR. It's isilated and desolate. Nobody on the beach except for the guests. Restaurant was ok. One thing is for sure. I will make sure every review site on the internet knows what this owner has done to all his guests prior to Xmas. Amazing location with fantastic service - we checked in late on our arrival day and were put into room number 1 (uno) - it was moldy and right next to the kitchen. After speaking to the manager we were moved to room number 12 overlooking the ocean - management really came through and they were great about everything. My wife and I celebrated our 45th anniversary there March 28th to April 2nd, 2018. We choose PR because we felt it was a nice way to celebrate and in a small way to help the economy after the devastating storms. First let me start with the cons. The building itself is sort of old and run down. Our room and I assume the other rooms, are in need of remodeling, but it was clean. There was a small refrigerator, but no microwave oven in our room. The restaurant, which is one of their main advertising features, was closed until further notice. They use the closed restaurant for the continental breakfast. The continental breakfast wasn't that great, mostly pastries and fruit. There is a door that leads directly on the beach but it was often closed and locked for security in what I felt was too early in the evening and when it was still daylight. The pros. You can't beat the location, it is actually on the beach. They bring you lounges, umbrellas, towels and place them on the beach where you want them. The beach itself is very nice. At lot of locals use the beach, which is no problem except when they sometimes play music very loud. The guest house is in a very nice gated community of nice expensive looking homes. It's only gated at night. There are decent places to eat and drink within walking distances. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. If not for the staff and location, I would have rated it 3 stars. read more

I've been staying in this location on and off for the last 25 years. It's had some highs and lows due to who owned the property at the time. Right now the new owners have refurbished the property and all the rooms. This is a casual, shabby chic, beach bungalow feel. It's perfect!! It's located right on the best part of the beach in Ocean Park. The new owners have created an amazing vibe with there beachside restaurant/cafe, kitesurfing shop, beach furniture, music, sometimes live music ... I would have giving it 5stars if they had better towels and WiFi signal. This place it's a great value, when considering San Juan. read more

We stayed at Numero Uno for a rate of $200/night. When we first arrived, we were disappointed to find out that we were in an adjacent property - but, as it turns out, that was the better choice. We stayed in room 17 - which was a little suite, complete with a small bar sink, mini fridge, microwave, and an oven. It was bigger and more updated than the rooms in the main hotel with a gorgeous ocean view. The service was outstanding - the staff would set up huge umbrellas and pull up lounge chairs and tables at the shore line every day. Be sure to tip :) They're a hard working crew. The size of Numero Unos made it very easy to recognize the same faces - even after a short stay. Would highly recommend. read more

The room I stayed in was small and OK. Not what you would expect for the money. The food is OK, not authentic Puerto Rican, and pricey. You can find better food for the money or cheaper. We've stayed here twice in the last year. Ocean park, Santurce is a chill area that is under revitalization and has a slight hipster twist. There are plenty dining options within walking distance such as the great Mangos and La Bagua and you can always walk to Condado for a change in scenery. This is a great place to stay. It's a small hotel right on the beach. The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. Cabana services provided right on the beach. So need to worry about money and valuables being taken while in the water cooling off from the sun. Pamela's the restaurant on site has a great vibe and the meals taste great. I would have liked the bedding to be a a little more high end in terms of linens and the mattress. But in all a great place to stay. read more

Wonderful place to stay if you want to be around locals and right on the beach this is the spot. The beach is dog friendly so almost everyone has their dog with them but the beach is very clean. You literally step out of the hotel right onto the beach. There is also a balcony area for guest to sit and relax on and look out at the beach that is so calm and relaxing that I fell asleep out on it. The rooms are small but very accommodating with multiple outlets, cable tv and all your basic necessities but who needs that when the beach is only steps away. This guesthouse is not fancy at all but very nice with everything you need with some of the best staff you will meet. I really enjoyed my short stay and will definitely stay there again when in PR. read more

As a laid-back beach hotel on a very nice beach, this guesthouse is a good choice for many reasons. The location is very accessible by car or on foot from a main Ocean Park street. and the hotel is generaly well maintained. The Ocean Park beach is long and wide and very populated. Walking and jogging is very popular and you can join in any time of the day. Beach chairs and umbrellas are courteously provided, but beach towels are really ratty bath towels. Wi-Fi is free (3Mb) and was accesible even from the shore. The "pool" is just a small, dark, unpainted wading pond (up to 4 ft) that you could not pay me to get in. It would make a great water garden with fish and lilies. No real need for a pool here. Some kind of personnel shortage resulted in our room not getting maid service during the two days we were there. Other than that, the place looked clean and well maintained. The nicest area of the hotel is a large terrace on the third floor that is reserved for the penthouse apartment guests. There would be a lot more value to that area if it was available to all guests as a semi-private solarium, happy hour lounge, and other social interactions. Considering that the PH is not always rented, it is a lot of wasted valuable space. Pamela's, the in-house restaurant, is expensive and did not live up to expectations. I have reviewed it separately, but you may want to explore the nearby streets for better choices. read more

I have been here for 2 days. Its the beginning of the raining season. Most of the time I have to stay in my room. But this place dont even have good internet service. Its like on and off and you cant even watch videos on youtube. The Tv is so small and most of the channels are not working. Their breakfast is horrible. They dont even serve eggs. They only have breads and creams. I dont feel it is worth it to stay here. I paid the same for other hotels and got alot better service read more

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We arrived before our check-in time and they were quite accommodating by locking our bags away and ushering us to the beach for drinks until our room was ready. The breakfast is a modest continental-style offering, but it's included in your room rate (try that at the big resorts down the road). One of the best things about Numero Uno is going into the restaurant and getting a pastry, some fruit and coffee, and sitting at a cafe table on the beach for breakfast. The beach service was great. They take great care of you by moving your chairs and umbrellas, and depending on your mood can bring frequent drinks or simply leave you alone to relax. Lastly, the beach is a public beach, and while I enjoyed that aspect for our stay, I could imagine that on a weekend it might get fairly crowded. read more

Perfect place for a nice, low key vacation. My girlfriend and I wanted the exact opposite of the all inclusive/cookie cutter hotel lodging experience so we decided to try out Numero Uno Guesthouse! We couldnt find but a handful of reviews on yelp, so we vowed to come back here to write an honest review, even if we liked it or not... And the verdict is...we loved it! The guest house is exactly as it looks in the pictures. Pros: Access to a private, beautiful beach! I mean really, the beach is beautiful. The hotel has staff dedicated to positioning beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach wherever you like. They will also bring drinks out to you from the restaurant/bar that is attached to the guesthouse..which leads me to the next pro..Pamela's. Pamela's is a restaurant that is attached to the guesthouse and apparently it is a critically acclaimed restaurant in PR. We had a jam packed itinerary, so we never made time to actually eat there, but we did have a few drinks from the bar. The bartenders leave a bit to be desired..but the drinks were OK. But this review is not about the restaurant, its about the guest house and it's pretty cool to have access to food and drinks down stairs. Clean, spacious room. Get a room on the 2nd floor if you want access to the balcony. It provides a breathtaking view of the beach and the property! Great customer service (I had opportunities to chat with several of the guys working there and they were some very cool cats. Very helpful and informative! ) The guesthouse is in a gated community and the guest house itself has restricted access and you must be buzzed in if you are not a guest with an access card to enter. It always felt secure. Free Wi-Fi. Cons: The 'pool' is NOT really a pool. I doubt anybody actually gets in it. LOL. The continental breakfast is nothing but toast, pastries, boxed cereal and an array of juices. I don't mean to sound bougie, but I thought it was pretty crappy. I was expecting just a bit more in terms of variety/quality..since they set-up the breakfast in Pamela's..but I don't think the restaurant staff has anything to do with the continental breakfast. We stayed here for our last night in Puerto Rico. The staff was very nice and at first glance the hotel is clean and well put together. Spend more than a few minutes in your room, though, and you'll notice that it really isn't that clean. The walls need to be painted, the floors need to be really scrubbed, etc. But, for one night, we could live with it. The $7 Corona on the other hand we could not stomach. The menu posted on their website for Pamela's wasn't the current menu so we were disappointed by that as well. As vegetarians, accurate website menus are essential, there is nothing worse than showing up thinking that you will have sufficient options only to discover that they only have one sad veggie dish for $28. No thanks. We wish we had stayed in the same hotel we stayed in on our first night, Villa Herencia in Old San Juan, it was in much better shape and just a much more enjoyable place for about the same money. read more

If you're visiting PR for the beaches, you couldn't ask for more than being literally right on the beach in this clean, cozy, friendly little guesthouse. Numero Uno is situated in a gated community in Ocean Park so the local streets are safe, quiet, and good for parking. The beach is public and always accessible but everyone is clean and respectful (and it's fun to watch all of the locals walking their dogs every morning while enjoying some coffee and fruit at the beach tables!) It's a convenient location that makes it easy to head out on day trips and all of the staff was fantastic, helpful and friendly. There's a cabana service available where the staff will set you up with lounge chairs, umbrellas, tables, and waiter service to the beach for food and drinks. If you're feeling like getting into the local neighborhood for some more authentic PR street food, there are lots of options within walking distance. We were happy to spend our money with a real local small business instead of some of the huge chain hotels and resorts in the area and you should too! read more
