I've had dinner at Nazareth several times with my churches' Dine-Out group (a group of 20-30 friends who get together once a month to dine together). Nazareth is one of our regular favorites. Note that the restaurant does not have a liquor license but their food makes up for the lack of a liquor license. The menu is obviously Mediterranean inspired (Middle Eastern) and includes a variety of options that should satisfy most palates. Their hummus appetizers are great as is their lemon chicken soup. My personal favorite is their spicy gyro sandwich with fries. My wife leans to their grape leaves - always great. I've gone here about 3 times, and each time I have highly enjoyed the food! I usually have the falafels - whether in a sandwich or a platter - because they're so good! You can tell they are fresh. I've also enjoyed the hummus, tzaziki, and baba ganoush. They were all great, but my favorite is probably the tzaziki. The pita they bring you is warm and good too. Lots of vegetarian options! I visit at least monthly. I can't get enough of the LEMON CHICKEN SOUP with warm, soft Pita. I admit to not being very adventures but The Large Gyro suits me just fine. The staff could not be more accommodating. He has just added a small but cozy bar and there is a new apartment Building going up behind the restaurant which should guarantee continued great food and service. You cannot find more authentic or flavorful Mediterranean food. We live in Canal Winchester and whenever we are in this end of town, it's our go to place to eat. The lentils and rice is my favorite. My husband's favorite is the gyro. The chef today made a pretty star on the top of the hummus. We spice it up by asking for the house made hot sauce to kick it up a notch. I met three friends here for lunch - on Tuesday since they're closed on Mondays. We came at 11:30 and had no trouble finding seating. The waitress was prompt, attentive and friendly. She took our drink orders as we arrived. The menu was extensive with lots to pick from. While it was springtime, it was rainy and chilly out so I was looking for some comfort food. I ended up going with the lentil soup. Our group orders were varied and also included a couple appetizers. I did try some of the hummus and it was really good - along with the pita bread. I am a thirsty person and the waitress did a great job of keeping my diet soda glass filled. Our orders all came out together and quite timely. Everything was accurate and hot. My lentil soup was REALLY good. I got the bowl and it was a decent sized serving. I finished eating somewhere in the middle - not first or last of the eaters. That's perfect for what I wanted - a lighter yet warm lunch but didn't want to finish quickly and watch others eat. The waitress did a nice job of clearing the table and bringing containers to take home leftovers. Cashing out was really quick and easy as she could run our cards at the table and cash us out on the spot. She also didn't seem put out that we each wanted a separate bill. I definitely will return. It's a good location for me - I live in Gahanna over by Easton but now that the construction on that part of Hamilton Rd is done - I can get over there in less than 10 minutes and parking is right outside. read more

I have been going to this place since the early Nineties, when it was off of 161. Hani, is a treasure in Central Ohio, and seeing him alone is worth the price of admission. The gyro and fresh cut fries, are always good & the falafel here, as the best I have had. The new "bowls", are now my go to. Half salad, half rice, topped with the meat of your choice. Recently went back for a second visit. Have mixed feelings. My party had the chicken kebab entree and a chicken gyro with fries and hummus. Before I give opinions on food, I want to note that the customer service was awful. They told me my order would be ready in 5-10 minutes when I placed it. I arrived 15 mins after I placed my order. Food wasn't ready and they said that it would just be another 5 minutes before it was ready. 25 minutes later, the food was finally ready. I think they had forgotten to submit the order to the kitchen, as there was no one in the restaurant so they weren't busy. As they were boxing my food, the employee boxing it was talking to a friend and was much more invested in her conversation than getting me my food so that added additional time as well and there was no "sorry" for the inconvenience. As for the food, the chicken kebobs were average. Not dry, but also not juicy. The rice and pita were good. The hummus had somewhat of a slimy texture so wasn't a fan. My friend got a gyro that she proceeded to eat with a fork because it was so massive. She also got fries that she said were very good. I got the chicken on rice and a lentil soup. We have been in a lot of different times and never had a bad experience. usually, the owner is walking around engaging with the customers which I think is really cool. the food is always delicious and the staff very courteous. I dunno, y'all. I'm a little concerned that this place gets such great reviews. I'm kind of guessing that this is what passes for Really Good Middle Eastern Food in the Columbus suburbs. But dang it, y'all, whether you realize it or not, you can do considerably better, imho. I got a gyro sandwich with a Greek salad. The salad was kind of overdone with just plain iceberg lettuce, and while the dressing was good, it went to waste on the lettuce before it could seep down to the tomatoes and such. The gyro was fine, but there was waaaay too much lettuce on top, and waaaay too little basket below to catch all the stuff that kept falling out of the overstuffed pita. The sauce was OK, the onions were bland. My wife got a Greek salad with no onions (?!?) and gyro meat for added protein. She said it was fine, but she was sad about the lettuce to other stuff ratio, too, and she thought the dressing was kind of meh. The service was OK. The store is clean and attractive. Parking is adequate. I dunno. This is kind of borderline for me. I like Lavash much better. read more

My M-I-L got the vegetarian platter and I got the falafel pita sandwich and a side of fries. Word to the wide, get the small size fries, they give you so much amazing goodness that you'll want to eat it all and I'm sure you'll be wayyy too full if you had anything. Else to eat! Has to be good if we've been going back for this long..Well...First very casual industrial/ cozy feeling inside. Black and white checkered tablecloths. They have Awesome fresh brewed tea. We both get the gyro and fries and for $11 its a good size. I never leave here hungry. The staff is very friendly and took great care of us. The fresh cut French fries are Awesome! I end up eating all of them before I even start my gyro. And the gyro with the soft bread, tender meat and toppings finish off an excellent experience. Side note...There was a man alone in the booth behind me and he was telling the waitress that he came on the suggestion of a friend. And he was raving about how Awesome the food was. Four of us shared a comfortable booth, and had excellent service. It was not our first time there. Their chicken and rice is delicious as is the sauce on the side. Another person had a chicken gyro and loved it too. The Greek salad was an artful mix of a ball of feta, tomatoes, onions, banana peppers, calamata olives and cukes, a beautiful presentation. The hoummus is a perfect consistency with adequate pita sliced. Onion rings were very crispy and delish. Baklava slices went home for later. Can't wait to return!! read more

Nazareth has been the best Middle Eastern restaurant in Northeast Columbus for years. It's kept making great falafel in spite of moving. The owner is a hoot but he might scare you if you don't know him very well. It has reasonable portions and prices. The business does a lot of carryout but the inside is good too. I first went there when it was still at Columbus Square. It moved across 161 around 2010. Then a few years ago it moved to Hamilton Road. A lot of people would give up after that. It still has many loyal patrons. Even though they've moved a lot, they still have the same great menu. The falafel is big and crunchy without being hard as a rock like at other restaurants. A falafel pita combo is about $9. The fries taste like they're fresh cut while they're not too salty. If you're new there you should get to know the owner. The guy likes to carry a bat and say he'll hit anyone who doesn't like the food. He's only kidding. The only time he ever used the bat for real was the unfortunate incident when someone came in and attacked people. It only sucks because of the area. The traffic is always bad with it being close to Easton. I would go to Nazareth more often if it was closer. It's good if you're around Easton and want something cheaper. This is a nice Mediterranean restaurant in a strip Mall off Hamilton road. The cost of the food is minimal In comparison to the amount of food they give. The gyro comes with beef and lamb meat and has all the typical toppings. The meat is tender and very flavorful and there is a good amount of meat on the gyro. The hand cut fries are absolutely amazing. Great seasoning in them and one side is enough for two people to share. They have fountain drinks and a huge selection of desserts. I've been dining here for many years and it is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. The food is consistently fantastic. I'm normally not a salad lover, but I highly recommend the Greek salad. Everything about it is perfect. I also love the hummus and the falafel. The portions are fair and the prices are even better. I especially appreciate that you can get "half orders" of various items from the appetizer menu for just a couple of bucks. My son and I will typically order half sizes of several things to ensure we have a large variety to choose from and it's STILL a bargain! The sandwiches are delicious. It's difficult to choose between the chicken and the lamb, because both are outstanding. Delicious food. Honestly some of the best gyros and definitely the best stuffed grape leaves I've had. The food was hot and flavorful, you could taste elaborate flavors like mint and rosemary. Just a culinary delight! I could hear the owner (I'm assuming he was the owner) talking to customers, being so kind and asking how their day was going. All the staff wore their masks and promptly checked up on us to see if we were doing ok. It's not just the amazing food that will bring me back here, but it's also the people.
