Beef Pho and Drunken noodles

Great place and excellent food with chill vibes. Don't bump the spicy unless you're a pro.

I would be embarrassed to call this Pad Thai. I honestly make it way better at home.

Pad Thai was horrible. The pineapple fried rice was decent. The spring rolls were horrible and the peanut sauce was horrible. The service was good and the ambiance okay. The only reason we came here was because Silas was closed. Sorry never again. The hot oil was very spicy.

I started with the fresh Vietnamese rolls with shrimp. This was delicious! Peanut sauce on the side was the perfect sauce for dipping. My entree was the NC noodle bar special. The portion was huge! This is a curry base dish. Beneath the meat and vegetables is noodles and fresh veggies. The waitress is always friendly and attentive. Expect casual dining.

What can I say, I was totally impressed with the food here for the price point. We stopped in at 3:30 on a Saturday and had a courteous and attentive server who knew her menu well enough to make solid recommendations. The food was hot and spiced to our requested taste and made our blind choice a very good one. They had a 100 for the kitchen inspection and although the furniture is somewhat tired and dated, the restaurant was clean and well lit. We would definitely return and try other selections on the menu and they even offered a veteran discount.

So I had a VERY late start to my day, and on my way to the gym, I was craving noodles. I couldn't find any other Asian restaurant that was open past 2 pm...so I ended up here. I've been to its sister location in Herlong Avenue, and was very impressed with the food...so I figured this should be just as good. As expected, the place was a dive...quite bleak, to be frank. It was fairly spacious though. It was also odd to hear Hip Hop overhead in what I thought was an Asian restaurant/ eatery. Maybe I didn't see it on the menu, but I couldn't find the "Hot Pad Thai" that I loved at the other location. In fact, I thought their menu was different than the other location...to the point that I asked the waitress if this was indeed a chain of the other. There was nothing similar about the 2 places, except that they had the same name, and had some Noodle items on the menu. Anyway, I opted to try the "NC Noodle House Special". Well, it wasn't quite what I had hoped. I should have read the details more carefully. It was the super thin noodles in a peanut-flavored brothy base, with a choice of meats on top. Not spicy at all...but very light and peanutty. More Vietnamese than Thai? It wasn't bad, but I just didn't love it. It lacked the deep, rich and spicy flavor, and the richer noodles that I craved. Now, here's something I REALLY didn't like. The waitress was NOT wearing a mask! (SIGH) So now, this happens in 2 restaurants in a row this week...?? Is the pandemic over? Apparently some restaurants seem to think so...or they could care less. The waitress was halfway courteous, but she didn't give me any napkins or spoons for my brothy plate, so I had to ask for both. She asked for a choice of Fork or Chopsticks...and when I opted for a Fork, she just brought out 1 Fork and just handed it to me (without placing it in a napkin). This experience somewhat mimicked the crude service at this Chinese restaurant over the weekend. The difference was that at the Chinese restaurant, I might have hated their maskless service, but the food there was excellent. Here, I hated the maskless service...and I barely liked the food. I may return to the Herlong location, but I'm never returning here again.

I absolutely love NC Noodle Bar. I'm totally in love with their Pad Thai among many other dishes. Portions are very plentiful for price, and flavor and freshness are always top-notch, as well as service. Absolutely great!

Relative to this type of restaurant, it truly ranks 5-stars. I had the feeling the chef had grown up in a pan Asian culinary area like Orange County, CA, and had developed a love of Thai, Vietnamese, etc. Tom Kha (coconut-lime soup) is rich, creamy, perfect. The pho broth is dark, redolent in spices, and some of the best I have tasted. The panang curry tastes more like a red curry, lacking clove that should be in panang, but still so delicious. The portions are HUGE, the curry is served in same size bowl as pho. One of the chef's, T, came out and chatted with us a bit. She was awesome. Also, our server Lena, was friendly and provided great table service. I will be a regular customer.

Good tasting Thai Tea. Had the Spicy drunken noodles before () but this time around I stepped out of my box a little. Tofu fresh rolls were delicious & the peanut sauce is bomb as usual (). The Bang Bang Noodles were good, but The Spicy Drunken Noodle is still top & I'm def gonna try more items for sure. It's a small, clean place that has modern decor & music. Be patient with the servers for they do work hard to serve everyone efficiently, sometimes solo.

Our server Abby R was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a trio of appetizers for the table: Szechuan dumplings, wonton chips with crab Rangoon dip, and KFC (Korean fried chicken). The wings were as good as expected, great flavor, piping hot and crunchy. The real surprise was the wonton and Rangoon dip combination. Just a stellar idea, executed spectacularly. The Szechuan dumplings were a little spicy and tasty, but they were just warm, which gave them an oily mouth feel. I got a to-go order of pork fried rice, and I have to say, I could've done without it. Pulled pork just doesn't go with fried rice, flavorwise or texturally. The biggest disappointment about the meal was when I attempted to settle my tab. I walked to the front counter and was confronted by a young woman who snapped, "We don't take money up here!" Thankfully, Abby came out and took my payment, but the first young lady was so offputting, it will be a while before I go back, if ever. Definitely not how you convert a first-timer into a regular customer.

The restaurant is a little different from many Chinese restaurants I've visited. Communication can occasionally be a challenge, but the staff has always been helpful and welcoming. One thing I'd love to see is a chili oil or chili crisp option. They use chiles in some dishes, but the only table-side heat option I've seen is hot mustard. The food is the real highlight. The Kung Pao Chicken is my go-to order--lots of flavor with just the right amount of heat. The Crispy Scallion Chicken was also very good, although the sauce was a bit thicker and sweeter than I personally prefer. The spring rolls were excellent, and while the egg rolls were tasty, they were slightly chewier than I expected. The lunch specials are an especially good value. For under $10, you get an entrée, rice, and a spring roll. For just 50 cents more, you can substitute an egg roll. That's hard to beat these days. The restaurant can be a little difficult to find the first time, but it's definitely worth the effort. I'll be back.

My husband is equally stuck on their Fish w/ the Black Bean Sauce...and I'm obsessed with this dish as well. If we didn't share our plates, I might order this dish. An amazing entree...and a ridiculous bargain of a deal for what you get! In an American restaurant, this generous fish entree would cost over $35 easily...but here, less than 18 bucks! I'm sure we'll be returning again and again!

Well, as soon as I hit the door, I can tell they changed a few things....decor-wise. The area near the entryway wasn't bad...if anything, a bit better? However, the buffet area was way worse. I'd definitely say downscaled. There was absolutely no vibe to the place. Despite the lofty size, it was dead silence. No overhead music...and not many diners either (on a New Year's Eve). In fact, I don't ever recall this place being so quiet. The buffet foods were also downscaled. The foods all just looked so bad...as in TV dinner quality? Some of it didn't even look fresh? In fact, I'm worried about the sushi that I had. They were some of the worst sushi I've ever had...as in EVER HAD!!! Also, they didn't even have some of the items I used to enjoy...liked steamed buns (or maybe I just didn't catch it??). Good thing that they kept the pricing reasonable...about $19 per person? Although I don't recall being blown away by the quality in the past (especially in the past decade), the foods were MUCH better in quality the last time we were here (2020?). It's truly sad because when this place first opened way back when, it was really good. However, with the change of management over the years from Jade to Ginza, things kept dipping downward. Both my husband and son agreed on just how bad everything was this time...and we also agreed that this is probably the last time we'll come here.
