Pad Thai (It comes with egg, I just asked for none)
Julie Ann J.

Was craving Pad Thai and finally stopped by and got some ! It was so so good ! The service was amazing everyone was so friendly. I came in for Lunch. The food came out hot and fresh ! It also came with your choice of soup or salad ! (Not pictured) I will definitely be back !!

This is a modest, retro-looking restaurant with great ratings in Rock Hill...and I've been here once a few years ago with my husband. I remember liking the food, but thinking it was way too spicy. I just remember using up several tissues to calm my eyes and nose. Thought I was going to die lol! Honestly, it's the intense spice level that scared me into not returning all these years. I tried to visit them a month ago, but it remained closed for indoor dining...and I'm not big on take-out or in-car dining (unless absolutely necessary). Anyway, this place is now finally open for indoor dining...so I swung in to try their Pad See Ew lunch special, which came with a choice of salad or soup...and an order of Thai Iced Tea. Though the Pad See Ew with Shrimp plate was rather small in portion, it was less than 12 bucks! So Yes, their lunch specials are super-affordable. Their Thai Iced Tea was also rather skimpy, but all-out delicious! This time, I clearly asked for a 3 out of 5 spice level, as in Medium Spicy...yet again, it was spicy as HELL. My nasal cavity nearly exploded, and I cried a little. OMG?? I really don't know if they offer dishes THIS spicy to everyone, or just to people like me that are Asian. I tend to think the latter...'cuz there is simply no WAY non-Asians can take this level of spice (if THIS hot at level 3)??? From ALL the Thai restaurants I've been to in Charlotte (and beyond) - and I've been to many Thai restaurants!! - the dishes I've had here have been the spiciest (even at level 3!). It's a shame 'cuz if they can modify the spice level, the dish would have been super delicious! BTW, despite how "retro-looking" the place may be, I did notice that they had an "A" sanitation grade! Also, their service was really good, and the food was freshly prepared and delivered quickly. Honestly, given their authencity and the convenient location, I would LOVE to give this restaurant all 5 stars...but each and every time, their spice level nearly kills me. I may give them one more try in the future...but next time, I'm going to go with 1 or 2 out of 5 spice level.

Dumplings were small but okay

Terrific Thai food. First time but it won't be our last if we are in Rock Hill. Curry was just spicy enough.

We usually order take out. The dining room is kind of dark. Food is always good. Hard to find them in town. Closed for a lot of the year.

We love the Roti with the curry sauce as well. The service is excellent! The ambience is lively! A bonus, they have a rooftop bar! Our server Abby R was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a trio of appetizers for the table: Szechuan dumplings, wonton chips with crab Rangoon dip, and KFC (Korean fried chicken). The wings were as good as expected, great flavor, piping hot and crunchy. The real surprise was the wonton and Rangoon dip combination. Just a stellar idea, executed spectacularly. The Szechuan dumplings were a little spicy and tasty, but they were just warm, which gave them an oily mouth feel. I got a to-go order of pork fried rice, and I have to say, I could've done without it. Pulled pork just doesn't go with fried rice, flavorwise or texturally. The biggest disappointment about the meal was when I attempted to settle my tab. I walked to the front counter and was confronted by a young woman who snapped, "We don't take money up here!" Thankfully, Abby came out and took my payment, but the first young lady was so offputting, it will be a while before I go back, if ever. Definitely not how you convert a first-timer into a regular customer.

The restaurant is a little different from many Chinese restaurants I've visited. Communication can occasionally be a challenge, but the staff has always been helpful and welcoming. One thing I'd love to see is a chili oil or chili crisp option. They use chiles in some dishes, but the only table-side heat option I've seen is hot mustard. The food is the real highlight. The Kung Pao Chicken is my go-to order--lots of flavor with just the right amount of heat. The Crispy Scallion Chicken was also very good, although the sauce was a bit thicker and sweeter than I personally prefer. The spring rolls were excellent, and while the egg rolls were tasty, they were slightly chewier than I expected. The lunch specials are an especially good value. For under $10, you get an entrée, rice, and a spring roll. For just 50 cents more, you can substitute an egg roll. That's hard to beat these days. The restaurant can be a little difficult to find the first time, but it's definitely worth the effort. I'll be back.

Not only do we feel that the foods here are tremendous, the portions are so generous, we usually doggy bag half the portion home for yet another full, satisfying meal. Their menu is quite extensive, but I am so stuck on their Scallion Chicken...'cuz it's soooooo good! I really need to try other items on the menu. My husband is equally stuck on their Fish w/ the Black Bean Sauce...and I'm obsessed with this dish as well. If we didn't share our plates, I might order this dish. An amazing entree...and a ridiculous bargain of a deal for what you get! In an American restaurant, this generous fish entree would cost over $35 easily...but here, less than 18 bucks! I'm sure we'll be returning again and again!

Well, as soon as I hit the door, I can tell they changed a few things....decor-wise. The area near the entryway wasn't bad...if anything, a bit better? However, the buffet area was way worse. I'd definitely say downscaled. There was absolutely no vibe to the place. Despite the lofty size, it was dead silence. No overhead music...and not many diners either (on a New Year's Eve). In fact, I don't ever recall this place being so quiet. The buffet foods were also downscaled. The foods all just looked so bad...as in TV dinner quality? Some of it didn't even look fresh? In fact, I'm worried about the sushi that I had. They were some of the worst sushi I've ever had...as in EVER HAD!!! Also, they didn't even have some of the items I used to enjoy...liked steamed buns (or maybe I just didn't catch it??). Good thing that they kept the pricing reasonable...about $19 per person? Although I don't recall being blown away by the quality in the past (especially in the past decade), the foods were MUCH better in quality the last time we were here (2020?). It's truly sad because when this place first opened way back when, it was really good. However, with the change of management over the years from Jade to Ginza, things kept dipping downward. Both my husband and son agreed on just how bad everything was this time...and we also agreed that this is probably the last time we'll come here.
