Some of the best best fish tacos you'll ever eat in your life. Fish is very fresh here absolutely delicious. And it was a quiet kind of place to eat, which was nice from the hustle and bustle outside. Very reasonable pricing as well. Service was a bit quiet, but they were attentive. TASTY!

Stopped by here to try swordfish. Swordfish taco was an interesting experience. It taste like fish but it had texture to it. I'm not a fan of fish like cod where it falls apart. The shrimp was delicious. My biggest problem is that they charge you $1 for water. And it's a water bottle. I get it you're trying to keep a business but at the price we're paying for food. A water bottle should come with it.

Service 5/5 -friendly staff and food came out quick Food 3/5 -1/2 dozen oysters $18, tasted fresh and ponzu complimented it well -Rattlesnake roll $18, tasted the best out of the three, but nothing to write home about -Offshore roll $17, pickled red onion was interesting but get tiring after a couple pieces -Rainbow roll $16, least favorite of the three, the imitation crab mixture tasted drier and less flavorful than most that I have tried and made the roll taste dull -Salmon poke bowl $23, decent portion size but don't expect authentic poke, salmon is just diced and sauced at the time of order, refreshing overall -quality is not amazing but I think this is the only or one of few restaurants on the island that actually has sushi Ambiance 4/5 -Space is open and comfortable with plenty of bar seating around the perimeter that's great for people watching, there were a couple flies that lingering throughout the whole meal

Food: Our group ordered a few things, but I can only speak to the Fish & Chips. My friend and I each did an order: one with pacific halibut and another with white sea bass, which were pretty decent. My ONLY nitpick is for the fish to have been a bit more moist. Also, the fries were a shining co-star! It was a table favorite. Service: No complaints! We were seated promptly and our food came out at a reasonable time. Ambiance: Casual, nautical.

Stop by this place after the recommendation of our tour guide. This place had a bit of a wait but the wait was worth itl. They offered several fresh fish options, we ordered two rolls, nigiri and fish and chips. The fish and chips were amazing, the firs were super crispy and the fish batter was so tasty. Can't go wrong with this dish. The ring of fire roll was spicy, that chili oil had a kick, if you aren't used to spicy I won't recommend it. Their tap drinks were interesting, def worth a try.

Worth the Stop in Avalon? Let's Talk About It. Q: When did you go and what was the wait like? A: Monday, fresh off a cruise around noon. About a 10-minute wait-completely reasonable. Q: First impression? A: I've been to Catalina Island more times than I can count, and somehow this spot never crossed my path until now. That alone surprised me. Q: What did you order? A: Fish and chips-and listen... it was slapping. The mahi mahi was full-bodied, flaky, and moist. The batter? Perfectly seasoned, which is rare without heavy breading. The fries were seasoned and jammin'. If you're a fry person, this combo delivers. (All local fish not available so don't get your palette to water. I preferred bass but I ate the mahi). Q: Why not something else like sushi? A: I considered it-but sushi is easy to find. Fish and chips made with mahi mahi instead of cod? That's a different conversation. I was here for it. Q: How was the service? A: One main waiter with support-but honestly, he was doing everything: host, server, cashier, manager. Easy on the eyes and efficient. Didn't miss a beat. Q: What about other food you saw? A: I was watching plates come out-everything looked worth trying. That's always a good sign. Q: Anything unexpected stand out? A: The fountain coke. No joke. I only drink fountain coke, and this was one of the best I've had. Q: What's the vibe and seating like? A: Small eatery. One table fits about 8, others are 2-4 tops plus a counter. Intimate, not cramped. Q: Accessibility and parking? A: Parking will be a challenge (typical Avalon). Wheelchairs can get in, but motorized chairs may struggle. The hallway to the restroom is tight, something to consider. Q: Price point-a little surprised? A: You might think it's a little pricey in the moment, but afterward? I didn't think about it at all. I'm general eating out is making me stay at home. Thank goodness I can cook. Q: Final take? A: Support this local spot. Solid food, efficient service, and a menu worth exploring. I'll be back. Hot tip: Cash is still king 3.5% charge for card -----"Local businesses are the lifeblood of any community."

We got the fish tacos, shrimp, and clam chowder. Clam chowder was okay, the fish tacos were good (would definitely recommend getting them deep fried), and the shrimp was solid. I would recommend getting the NDMK fries with sushi sauce, and spicy mayo! They were really crispy and well seasoned. The service was chill and I love how laid back the restaurant was overall. Would definitely come back to try a different fish?

Came for a 6pm dinner but they were out of a few options. We ordered based off their "fresh catch" list. Fish was delish, just wish I could have tried the cioppini which they were out of. Only a few beers on tap. One of the each type I'd say.

The fish collars are a must, whenever they have them available Food/Drink- 4 stars Similar to my past visit here, the food is decent, but I enjoyed the local and fresh fish they had available. The swordfish collar they had was divine, and I still think about it. The spiny lobster was good and had an excellent fish roe rice pilaf on it (but my main complaint was that it was overcooked, which defeats the purpose of fresh seafood). Service- 5 stars Their a bit understaffed, but the workers that are there are professional and attentive Bottom Line If your budget can handle it, I would highly recommend getting their fish collars here when they have it available

NDMK fish house is great. I work on Catalina Island six days and I spent at least three dinners there. Great view of the water when eating my favorite dish is the spicy Poké bowl with salmon. Staff is super friendly. Food is fresh locally sourced if you're gonna come to Hadley Island make this one a spot for lunch at dinner food is phenomenal so is the service friendly with a smile

Came here for dinner and left very happy (and very full). We ordered the seared scallops, steamed clams, grilled teriyaki salmon with broccolini, and had two sakes. I originally tried to order the poke bowl, but they were down a sushi chef and warned it would take up to an hour. Totally fair, so I pivoted to the grilled salmon and I'm glad I did. It was delicious. It looks whatever in the awful photo I took, but trust me, it slapped. I usually don't even like teriyaki because it's often way too sweet, but theirs was perfect. Balanced, not sugary, and the salmon was cooked exactly how I like it. Everything we had was really good across the board. No misses. Huge shoutout to KJ, our server, fantastic service. They also have some fun merch, and we couldn't resist grabbing a hat. Great food, great service. Love this spot and would absolutely come back.

First of all the waiter Saul was very nice and fast, we wait 5 min maximum, and food was delicious , very good portion and very tasty, it was our anniversary dinner and they gave us a free desert. Highly recommend to everyone who wants a great service and food!

Food was good! Restaurant itself is kind of small, door is open so flies are always coming in (like there was constant swatting of my flies away my face and food) Service is good, but could be improved on. I'd come again, it's just when I have sushi, I expect an elegance of some sorts & it did not feel elegant in here. It was just a chill place not a fancy sushi dinner place. We happened upon this local gem for dinner yesterday and we were super delighted with it! Two of us had their local fresh fish - swordfish & halibut, blackened, and it was cooked perfectly. We chose the NDMK fries as our side dish which were a nice spicy twist. Another person had the fresh grilled halibut tacos with side salad. She said both were delicious. Last person ordered the chicken bowl but wasn't happy with it unfortunately. He felt the chicken was bland and the rice was undercooked. Guess he shouldn't have ordered chicken at a fish restaurant. IJS. The restaurant is small and very busy. The server was very attentive and works hard to keep up with everyone. The table next to us ordered the sushi rolls and they looked super great too. When I come back to Catalina this will be one on the first places I visit again!! read more

The food here is pretty tasty! Especially the fish sandwich and fish n chips. I would come back here for sure. It's a great spot for fried fish or blackened fish from different types of fish that you can choose; from Halibut, seabass, mahi mahi to Marlin. They also have poke and sushi here too. One star less because the service was short staffed which meant you have to wait a little bit-- but thankfully not too long. I counted two waiters who were very laid back dudes and attentive enough to take your order. They put out the vibe that they would rather be doing anything else right now :) but they won't ruin your day either; just flag them down if you need anything and they will help. Ambience is a pretty good spot for families and small groups. It's a smaller sit-down restaraunt. The prices here are based on the fish you choose and the market price for the fish that day, so don't be too surprised if the bill is $20 a plate-- that said, it's still pretty good. Come hungry and ready to eat. Not bad NDMK fish House! read more

We were craving Ceviche and had already been to the Lobster Trap so came here. So glad we did. Ceviche was excellent. So was the Poke bowl and the Yellowtail/Jalapeño roll. Good service, nice beer selection and nice windows for people watching. read more

My husband and I arrived to the island without knowing about this place. We were so hungry we decided to come in. It's small cozy and our waiter Danny served us twice on two different occasions both days he was on it. Appetizer da bomb shrimp was soooo good ! I ordered the shrimp tacos and delicious I didn't care for the tortillas but the fish and truffle fries were so good . My husband had the steak and lobster I thought he rice was unnecessary but overall very tasty .. next day before leaving the island we had 2 sushi rolls and again fresh quality fish I recommend this place. read more

It's been awhile since I've been here, but it's a reliable Avalon standby, and is open more hours in the off-season than their newer sister restaurant, Topside. NDMK's menu is exclusively from the sea and they only serve beer and wine. Topside has a full bar and dishes from land and sea. It also has a view. I ordered several items to go: the seared scallop appetizer, Farnsworth Bank sushi roll, and the grilled fish plate. The scallops were good but I would have preferred a harder exterior sear. The sushi roll was fine, with spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. There was a choice of 8 fish for the grilled fish plate. I chose Pacific halibut with house seasoning (can also order blackened or with lemon butter and caper). The fish was tasty but perhaps a bit overcooked. My side was the NDMK fries, topped with sushi sauce, spicy mayo and green onions, very good. The server/order-taker was helpful and friendly. I recommend both NDMK and Topside. read more

Please go try this place, it's delicious! I had the grilled fish plate with halibut and lemon caper sauce and a side salad with some Asian dressing, it was sooooo good! My husband had the fish and chips, it looked wonderful, the french fries were super yummy, my daughter had the soft shell crab sushi roll, she said it was great too. I believe they are owned by a local family, they really seemed to care about their customers and food. We will be back! Oh, they do close a bit early so get there before 8pm I think. read more

Firstly--the food was great! My partner and I also really appreciated the fact that the food is locally and ethically sourced. The atmosphere was alright, and the location was very convenient. Honestly this was my favorite food place on the island. The guy that served us was super chill and nice. And the food came super fast ! The place was quiet and wasn't as busy when we went, it was cool. I loved the salmon with the rice and the broccolini and it's making my mouth watery again haha. My boyfriend said he also loved the sushi as well. Also I'm a big chocolate lover and when I tell you that this was the best lava cake I've ever tried in my life, it's actually one of the best. As soon as you take a bite it literally melts in your mouth !!! And I've never had that before, it's perfection. Im definitely coming back. read more

NDMK was packed as usual when we arrived but we were able to get counter seating facing the ocean which was cool. We all ordered the Poke bowl. In the past we've had to wait a while to get our food but the bowls came out quickly (I'm thinking because it's a bowl vs rolls). It was very filling with super fresh ingredients and fish caught by NDMK. My kids said it was one of the best they ever had! read more

This place is quite popular, and I'm glad we got in just in the nick of time to get seated before the wait Food was ridiculously good. I had the swordfish tacos and they were sooo very yummy. Fries not so much but I was here for the seafood! The two tacos were quite filling for $21. Husband enjoyed his Farnsworth Bank sushi rolls and his Halibut Fish & Chips. Kiddo thought the chicken tenders were good, although she only ate 1. lol. Service was alright and they were busy so it wasn't top notch, but it wasn't poor. The restaurant is small and there isn't a ton of seating. But food came out quick, tasted delicious and I'd definitely come back again. read more

Husband order a lava cake dessert to go. They gave him a beeper to let him know when it was ready . It was a slow afternoon. He waited 20 mins and it wasn't ready yet so he went back inside the restaurant and to see about his order. They gave it to him. He opened the container as soon as he exit the door of the place. It was a mess! The ice cream was almost All melted like warm soup. Can't believe he waited so long. I'm sure it was ready quite sometime and he was forgotten. read more

Came here for lunch and overall I thought it was pretty mid. Had to wait about ten minutes to get seated on Saturday. When we were seated we ordered immediately. These are the items we got. Clam Chowder Bowl - Bowl? Size wise it looked like a cup. For $12 this wasn't worth it IMO. Flavor were good, it tasted buttery. I just think portion is a tad too small. (3.5/5) Deep Drop Burrito - This burrito was kind of meh. It tasted fine but it was never very memorable. It's just something to make you full. The shrimp is fried but it also seemed it was lacking. Basic flavors, basic burrito. I would pass. (2.5/5) NDMK Fries - I actually liked this. It reminded me of like a sushi roll smothered in sauce but on fries. Basically Fries with spicy mayo and teriyaki/oyster sauce, basically some sauce with umami flavor. It's good and my favorite thing here! (4.5/5) I wanted to enjoy this spot but overall felt it was okay. Maybe it was the items I ordered but overall solid 3 for me. read more

Excellent food and service that is reasonably priced. We enjoyed the food so much we ate here twice in a 24 hour period. Kenneth and Christian were both excellent servers. We had multiple rolls, hand roll, ceviche, burger and a kids meal. We would absolutely return. read more

Eh. Came for lunch, Menu looked good but place was pretty average. 2 of us, Ordered one water and one soda but never got our water, actually we never saw our waiter besides him taking our order and then not again until we ended up paying , and we had to flag the guy down after waiting card in hand for 5-10 mins after eating.... And no it was not busy We got Swordfish tacos because the waiter hyped them up, the meat was good but idk $10+ per taco seems a bit steep for how little meat was inside. Side Salad lettuce was pretty brown too, was edible just not my cup of tea. The edamame appetizer has a good chili oil on it, highlight of the place (even though it's a jarred one and I only know cause it's my favorite) Overall glad I tried it but probably won't be back, at minimum gotta have the waiters check drinks.. ask if we like the food, offer us napkins or put them out for us to grab - so many other reviews are stellar for the sushi and the service but we got the opposite today. Was around $70 with tip for 4 tacos, 2 side salads, one edamame and one soda, we probably paid for the water we didn't get but don't even know, no receipt, no breakdown. read more

LOVE After a memorable dinner last time, I came for lunch and ordered a salmon poke bowl. It was great. MEH The service left a bit to be desired. Cashier didn't ask, but made my order to go although I was eating it there. So my food came in a plastic container with plastic utensils and a plastic bag. So much unnecessary plastic waste. Also, I asked for water and was charged $1.50 for bottled. I said tap was fine, but he said they only do bottled. I said never mind. For a place that emphasizes local seafood, I'd think they'd have more concern for the environment. read more

We dined here the other night. Cozy spot. It was busy but our party of 7 was seated in about 10 min. Server was friendly and patient. It took a little while to get everything but it was worth it! Everything was fantastic. For apps, we ordered edamame, spicy shrimp and calamari. Dinner was a mix of sushi, lobster, swordfish and Mahi Mahi . It was delicious. Everyone was happy. This was probably one of my favorite restaurants on Catalina Island. My family and I arrived around 5:30 PM and there was already a huge crowd of people. We got seated within 10-15 minutes but waiting for our food took awhile after we had ordered. We got some of their popular items: poke bowl, fish tacos, fish & chips, and mahi mahi. The decor inside was pretty cool-- they showed pictures of the owner (?) catching a really HUGE fish which was pretty insane! The food itself was super tasty; I really liked their fish tacos. If you want fresh, well-prepared fish, this is the place for you. At the advice of 'local' Chuck, bartender at an Avalon sports bar, we visited NDMK (the original, not the topside) on Sunday evening. The server was knowledgeable and provided great information and recommendations which we used when placing our order. It was really hard to make a choice because there were a number of enticing options. I ordered a cup of lobster bisque to begin, the yellowfin fish collar appetizer as an entree, and I added sides of seaweed salad and broccolini. My sweetie ordered the Pier Salad with halibut. We shared a bottle of quite reasonably priced Pinot Grigio. The lobster bisque was a creamy prelude to our meal. It was rich and full of little bits of spiny lobster. It had the taste of a sherry float (IYKYK) on top, although that was not part of their description! The yellowfin collar was lightly breaded and fried...and fabulous. It was beautifully presented with an abstract of dynamite and eel sauces on a gratuitous bed of cabbage. The broccolini came out warm and seasoned with sesame. The seaweed salad was tasty. The Pier salad had a variety of chopped veg and edamame. The tuna wasabi dressing could have been drank with a straw - it was a perfect viscosity and flavor combo for the salad. The halibut chunks on top were divine. They were perfectly charred on grill grates and cooked precisely. The owners have elected to put their investment in the fresh fish they offer. Listen- it is HARD traveling with a toddler. The service here is some of the best we have ever received. Family friendly with delicious food is always a winner! She was so patient, and gave us recommendations and accommodations before we even asked. We ordered one sushi roll and the fish and chips and both were absolutely spectacular. I also ordered a side of white rice for my child and she brought an extra round low plate that wouldn't break. It has a casual vibe but the restaurant is well kept, clean, and looks like it was recently renovated. My wife had noticed the Sailor's Delight shop earlier in the morning, so we decided to stop in. It was really, really good. My family lived in Wisconsin for more than 20 years, most of them in the Madison area. During that time we got to really love a local favorite ice cream brand: Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. It's definitely a premium brand and thought it was local to the Midwest only. Well...once we entered Sailor's Delight, signs proudly proclaimed that they served Chocolate Shoppe, shipped directly from the plant in Madison. This made my wife immediately look for her favorite flavor: Zanzibar. It's a chocolate ice cream, blending 3 types of cocoa, to produce a very rich but bingeable ice cream. One scoop was priced at $7.50 in a cup, with each additional scoop being $2.25. So I added one of my favorite flavors, mint chocolate chip, to pay for a two scooper. And in Wisconsin tradition, one scoop really means two...our attendant took a regular size ice cream scoop and plunged it in each container to grab two scoops of each. We ate it outside. The ice cream was as good as I remember, and alternating between mint chocolate chip and the Zanzibar was marvelous. We sat down on the edge of the fountain right outside, doing a little people watching while enjoying the weather. It makes me smile thinking about it. I was curious if there were other places around where we live that serves Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, and OMG Burgers and More seems to do so. Guess where I am going, the next chance I get...

I've been to Catalina solo, traveling alone as a woman I'm happy to report: I felt very safe and comfortable in the Biergarten. Bathrooms are in the back, in some of those fancy portable toilets (including a handicap ramped stall), so you don't have the leave the Gartën for anything. We enjoyed a great meal at NDMK during our visit to Catalina Island. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the overall atmosphere made for a really enjoyable dining experience. Great food, fresh fish, love the laid back Southern CA vibe. My family grew up in that vibe. I liked my server's NDMK hat and shirt so much that I bought one for myself and then the rest of the family wanted their own. Fun fact, when I mentioned how much I liked his hat, my server told me that NDMK actually started as a clothing line. Makes sense because we love the gear as much as we love the food at this place. The authentic southern CA food and feel of this restaurant sets it apart from others. read more

Great new place , with super fresh ingredients and a great chef and staff! I'm not a big raw fish fan but the California roll with tempura shrimp and soy wrap is AMAZING (i kinda made that combination myself and they happily adjusted my order to fit my liking ) My husband loves the poke bowl. The only bad part of this place is that it's right downstairs from my work and I have a feeling I'll be spending too much money there cause it's so good LOL ! read more

On an island that prides itself on sustainability and ocean-to-table seafood, this feels tone-deaf. Plastic pollution is a well-known threat to marine life, and using single-use plastics undermines the very ecosystem they depend on. NDMK is the newest restaurant in Avalon and one of my favorites. Surprising to me because I'm not, or thought I wasn't, a fish house person. I am now. Everything I've tried is my new favorite. I haven't had anything I don't love. Super accommodating and allow some custom orders for the vegetarians in my family. Service is excellent. read more

If you want to have fresh locally caught seafood . This is the place. The flavors are amazing. I had the blackened sword fish with coleslaw and spicy fries , coconut shrimp and the the Garibaldi sushi roll and let me say that it is one of the best I've ever had. I eat out a lot. So that should tell you. This place is way above good. A must. read more

The sand put dish is definitely the clam chowder. Definitely wish the bowl was much bigger. The lobster bisque was good as well as the cioppino. Would mainly come back for the clam chowder. I would say that if you like your chowder thick then this is not the soup for you. I like the decor and the service was good read more

I love this place. My favorite sushi roll here is the one with cream cheese in it, I cant remember the name but its seriously the bomb. Our server Ahmad specifically asked me to write a good review for him, so I also wanted to add that he was helpful and overall did a good job serving. read more

The most local experience you can have while on Catalina Island. The food is amazing and quality is VERY fresh serving fish caught in local waters. We had the blue fin toro sashimi and it was AMAZING. The veggie burger is the best we have ever had. A must try!!! NDMK FISH House read more

The food was fresh and delicious. Portions were just right too. They somehow messed up on one of the orders but they quickly prepared the correct order. We ordered take out and sat by the water and enjoyed our meal. read more

Raw rice on our sushi. Told the waiter and his response was "this batch of rice was rushed out" what! We would have rather waited than to eat raw rice. We got sake and shot glasses were dirty. :( super dissapointed read more
