We ordered the Arrabiata, which ended up being a little too spicy for my husband and Swordfish grilled with lemon caper sauce on the side. Violeta comped the pasta as my husband was not able to eat it she had requested light spice and it was too spicy. Although the we told her it was okay no big deal, she still did not charge us for the pasta. We gave her a descent tip instead. Great atmosphere, classy restaurant, dress to impress kinda place. Truly wish I could give this place a 4.5 as 4 seems too low and 5 too high. Of course this is based off what's available in Avalon as I feel options are limited but this is probably my new go to whenever I visit Catalina and looking for a nice dinner. Everything I had here was really good, nothing here wasn't delicious. I tried the chicken parmesan, spinach and artichoke dip, chicken fettuccine Alfredo, Parmesan Crusted Halibut, Caesar salad with chicken substituted, and chocolate cake. The standouts for me personally were the salad which was absolutely delicious even though I'm not the biggest salad guy, but the chicken was perfectly grilled and seasoned and the lettuce had good add ons to make every bite flavorful, and the chocolate cake which was extremely rich. It's also worth mentioning that my party of 8 showed up at 8:40pm and closing time was 9pm (the hostess let us know that this was okay a few hours prior when scheduling our reservation) yet the service never seemed upset, pushy, or any way negative toward us which tbh I would. We made a 5:45 PM reservation on OpenTable, and the whole experience felt seamless from the start. Upon arrival, we had the option of indoor or outdoor seating and chose the courtyard which was such a cute, cozy setting and perfect for an early evening dinner on Catalina. The menu leans toward seafood with Italian influences, which ended up being right up our alley. My husband and I shared the burrata salad to start, and it was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to kick things off. For our main, we split the pesto scallop linguini, and it was so good: rich, saucy (in the best way), and packed with flavor. Service was friendly and impressively quick without feeling rushed, which we really appreciated. We also peeked inside, and the interior has a warm, cozy vibe. They were accommodating several large parties as well, but everything still felt well-managed and organized. M was recommended by a very nice woman we met on the ferry ride over. So far, her other recs were great, so we wanted to try this restaurant which was high on her list. I made reservations for 12:30 on a Sunday, which was after our submarine tour. They only have a brunch menu on weekends but it included a few lunch items. When we passed by in the morning, it was pretty busy but by 12:30 it was empty. We chose to sit inside and it's beautiful inside with high ceilings and plenty of light. Our server came by after a few minutes and I placed our son's order first for a side of biscuits and gravy. That actually came out quick and he liked it. We had a couple of questions for our server and he was really polite and friendly and gave us his honest recs. We ordered a bread bowl of clam chowder and my husband got a steak. It took forever for them to come out. It was weird because the restaurant wasn't full but I think they just didn't have enough staff. And then when I wanted some butter for my bread, the server forgot and I had to remind him and he brought it then, but by that time my bread was cold and hard. My husband and I tried this place for dinner on our short trip to Avalon & safe to say we were nothing short of impressed! The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! I could literally drink that shrimp scampi sauce it was so good! Super buttery and perfect amount of lemon with a slight taste of the Pinot Grigio, spectacular. I love that there was a good amount of shrimp on the side as well! Dipping the bread into the lemon butter sauce is a MUST! The fried ravioli was also very delicious would definitely recommend getting it as an appetizer. The sauce was excellent & the ravioli had the perfect amount of cheese inside. This is my first time trying "fried ravioli" and was not disappointed. My husband throughly enjoyed the chicken parm as well! Perfect amount of cheese and sauce on the cutlet itself for every bite! He even enjoyed the side of veggies, which is a rare occasion for him since he is not normally a veggie eater. This Italian restaurant has started to serve brunch on weekends. We came in for an early Sunday brunch. The patio area has nice ocean views. Indoor is very spacious with a full bar. The menu was huge for breakfast / brunch. They had a little bit of everything. We have tried Caesar salad, steak & eggs and chicken ciabatta. The salad and steak were so good. The sandwich was just ok, chicken was a bit dry. Service was friendly but very slow. It's usually slow here so it wasn't surprising. It was my husband's birthday and I was looking for a restaurant to celebrate his special evening. We both like Italian food so I looked up for some restaurants on Yelp. One of the top restaurants recommended by yelp was this restaurant. I was able to make a reservation seamlessly. 30 minutes before our reservation, the restaurant send a text message to confirm our reservation. Once we were at the restaurant, we were able to find parking for our golf cart quite easily. As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, we were transported to another world. Both inside and outside seating looked great. The ambience was beautiful and well lit throughout. I got the stuffed manicotti pasta and my husband got the chicken Catalina. The dishes came out pretty quickly. The portion size looked adequate. Both the dishes were tasty and cooked to perfection. Since we were celebrating my husband's birthday, the server surprised us with a slice of a cake. The cake was delicious. All in all we had a great time. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant. If you are celebrating something special, this is a great place to go. read more

Even spicier & added flavor once I added red chili pepper flakes & parmesan! Huge portions here; I had leftovers! Easily took half of it back and put it in the refrigerator inside of my hotel room! Vibe: The restaurant got super busy! I enjoyed dining solo, as well as relaxing while looking at the ocean view across the way! It's always fun treating yourself to a great meal, as well as enjoying your own company! There were couples, as well as large tables of people all around, including people at the bar... fabulous! The prices were a little higher than some of the other restaurants nearby, but the quality of the food and drinks way surpassed that of others. M makes other Avalon restaurants look over valued. IDK about you, but one of the things I like about eating noodles is wrapping it around my fork. There was plenty of shrimp and the sauce was great, but there were too many pieces of bell peppers. The favorite of the night was the scallop pasta. The pesto sauce was creamy and delicious. Disappointed as the restaurant has such good reviews. Couldn't sit outside as they were out of propane for the heat lamps. No problem as the doors/windows to inside were open. Waiter got one of our orders wrong. The French Onion soup was so-so. Arugula salad was good in that it was not overly dressed. However, cheese was underrepresented. Main course of lobster- also so-so. The accompanying mashed potatoes, while tasty, was cold. Some of the asparagus stalks on the side were old & not really edible. Servers could have checked on us more regularly. Our water glasses were not refilled. When we finished our appetizers, no one came to collect the empty plates. She asked us if we wanted to try it, so of course we said yes. She brought out two spoons which was very sweet. It tasted like gravy which is not how hollandaise should be, so we passed on that. I ordered the French toast and added berries and whipped cream. The French toast consistency and flavor were good, but the temperature was not right and seemed that it had been sitting out for some time. The biscuits and gravy were cold and tasted like packet gravy, overall disappointing for people who enjoy biscuits and gravy. The loaded potatoes were decent, very cheesy and copious amounts of bacon. The potatoes were cooked and salted decently. Would recommend this as a a breakfast item. The ambiance was nice with it being outside. I wish they had umbrellas instead of the built in covers on top because the sun was constantly moving. Great dinner spot that feels a little more upscale and romantic than most spots in Avalon. They have a good variety of pastas, seafood, and other meat dishes. We came here our first night in town after reading many rave reviews about this restaurant. We enjoyed our dinner here and had great service from Raul. So many things on the menu sounded good that it was tough narrowing it down. We ordered the garlic cheese bread to start, and I got the chicken parmesan while my mom got the French onion soup and fried ravioli. Portions of all were quite large and we both ended up taking part of our meals with us. Food was solid and we both ended up happy with what we ordered. This spot also seemed to be one of the few restaurants on the island that gave out water instead of charging for bottles. I don't think I've ever been so happy to get so many water refills. They have a super cute patio and plenty of seating inside. It was quite chilly so we opted to sit inside, but I'd highly recommend that patio if its a warmer night. We made reservations day of and there was plenty of availability at all times and with seating both inside and out, but we were here in the middle of the week. The restaurant is further down from the ferry and only open at dinnertime on weeknights, so it doesn't feel quite as touristy as a lot of the restaurants did. Came in here on a Sunday evening around 6pm, a lot of other businesses/restaurants were closed, but we were so glad this spot was still open :) The front patio seating looks absolutely beautiful, if you make a reservation for this spot, that's where you want to be. We walked in and the patio was full, so we were seated indoors which was fine just a more casual vibe. The staff was very friendly and food arrived fairly quickly, my group shared a bottle of the tuscan house blend and the caesar salad. I ordered the baked lasagna and it was so saucy. The garlic bread on the side was nice and crunchy as well. Found this place just wandering around on our last day for brunch. Menu seemed nice which was brought us in. I believe it's part of a hotel on the island. There's a nice patio infront, one outside in back but not sure if it's utilize as part of the restaurant. Also plenty of indoor seating. They do have a full bar which did look quite impressive. Service was good but kind of slow here and there. Not sure if it was during shift change or what. But the waitress that did take care of use was amazing. Friendly and sweet. There are limited choices to dine, which can be casual or higher end on this island. After reviewing several restaurants for a higher end for my besties and I, I booked here. An early dinner on a Sunday night, it was still busy, where we didn't get the request to sit outside on the patio. No problem, they put us closest to the patio which was fine. However, our server was non-existence the whole entire time. Skip the Ceasar salad, which was not worth the price and the fried ravioli appetizers. The Pesto Pasta was so drenched in sauce, we could have made 3 more pasta plates, which was not good. The only good items were my friends fish plates. Besides that by the time we waved our server for our bill, since we never saw him again after taking our order, it took us another 20 minutes to finally drop it off, since he simply forgot! It also took 3 requests to get salt & pepper and the food was cold by the time we got it. OJ is grocery store quality, not fresh and served warm The staff doesn't seem to know what comes out to the table or what is actually supposed to be included. I ordered Brioche french toast, it was handed to me plain & dry with no butter and a small side of pancake syrup. It's listed on the menu "comes with whipped cream" and berries, but the very small print says the berries are extra $. I then asked the server if it was supposed to come with butter or whipped cream. She said it came with whipped cream and berries- so they delivered it. Then I was still charged an up charge fee. For 1 single strawberry and a small amount of blueberries My daughter has food allergies so we ordered her dish a specific way, and it came straight off the menu so it had to be sent back. $110 for 3 people and I wouldn't try it again. read more

I always appreciate restaurants that have an ocean view. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. It is a very open restaurant, but the indoor seating also has ceiling fans to keep the inside cool. We came for breakfast/brunch and the food was good, but I was somewhat surprised when it arrived at the table. I ordered the bagel & lox platter because it sounded like a good option on a warmer day. The bagel came out somewhat smaller than expected, but I appreciate the effort that went into the presentation. Parts of the smoked salmon were on the chewier end, but the other toppings offered a good balance of flavor and textures. The salad was fresh and the dressing was light. The M Restaurant... Welcome to the island. I came out here for a friends birthday. This was my first time eating here. We originally had our sights and appetites set for the Blue water Avalon. However we were rudely advised by the lady cleaning the door windows that they were closed. So we went to the M instead. The "M" (lucky #13) was a God send. Our waitress was Stefania. She was ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGLY AWESOME. She is literally Jonnie on the spot. I even took her suggestion for my meal. She recommended the Steak and Eggs. She did not disappoint. The meal in it's entirety was very good. I highly recommend it. As for the ambiance... The outdoor patio is very relaxing. If you plan on visiting Catalina Island in the near future please, PLEASE, PLEASE eat at the M. You will not be disappointed. P.s. Bluewater if you read this. Please talk to your staff.
