Came for the beignets and it was well worth stopping for dessert separately! Quick service

I can only rate the beignets (because that's all we ordered), but they sure hit the spot. Nothing like walking around beautiful Avalon with powdered sugar in your face.

Fresh Beignets!!! Shop opens at 7 with takeaway breakfast items. Delightful with a cup of coffee by the sea.

The only Asian food place in Avalon and it's just Chinese takeout food. It's greasy and salty but the varieties are not bad. It's weird that they don't always have hot and sour soup. It's a must have soup for any Asian eateries but not here! Kung pao & orange chicken are safe choices in my opinion. Not the best Chinese takeout but it will have to do in Avalon!

We hear of Chinese food & donuts but how about Chinese food & beignets! Mr.T's Chinese Kitchen offers Chinese food Panda express style with all the entrees laid out. You can get fried rice or chow mein on the side with either 1 or 2 entree combo plate. Mr. T's also sells breakfast sandwiches, beignets, juices and ice cream. I arrived on Catalina Island hoping for some breakfast but the pancake houses were packed with a line out the door. I went down a small block and found Mr.T's with no line. I went in to get a two entree plate of spicy shrimp and kung pao chicken. While on a bumpy golf cart ride, I was munching on Mr.T's while enjoying the beautiful island scenery! Wow the shrimp was SPICY hot burned my throat and made me cough. Kung Pao was a little spice and bearable. I was thinking how funny it was that the girl who prepped my food asked if I wanted hot sauce. Im glad I said NO. Taste was pretty bland but a whole lotta spice. I would love to see more Asian food on Catalina. OK quick bite for lunch.

Not so sure about their food as we didn't have any as we mainly came here for their beignets. Saw from a fellow foodie how good their beignets were and had to check them out since we were there for the day as it was one of the stops on our cruise. For a little over $6, you get 3 beignets. They are a lot smaller and cost more than ones I've had from New Orleans or at the Disney but they're pretty tasty and made fresh once ordered. A nice little place to get a taste of the sweet treat of beignets. It's a small mom-and-pop kinda shop and doesn't have seating on the inside but there are a few tables out front to have lunch or a treat.

I just tried the Beignets. Were excellent, like the ones in New Orleans! They fry them by order, and I'm glad for that. Really really good

I love their Xiao long baos here and the beef roll is good! Waiters were also attentive and nice, they offered a kids meal for my toddler to pick at! There were fruits, a custard bun, Yakult, egg roll. Ambiance was nice and clean and family friendly

Shanghai style smoked fish ($16.5) - This fish isn't smoked, rather it's deep fried twice creating an extremely crispy exterior and is dipped in a sweet soy sauce. It's a unique tasting appetizer, perfect for sharing. Sauteed string beans with garlic ($13.5) - These beans had a slight crunch and are a great veggie option. Steamed fish and shrimp dumplings ($14.50 - 8 pieces) - This is a good option if one is looking to get their dumpling fix. Steamed veggie dumplings ($14.50 - 8 pieces) - This is another good dumpling option that tastes great. However the dumplings aren't that filling themselves. Braised beef shank noodle soup ($16.50) - Made with braised beef, pickles, cilantro, bok choy, green onions, noodles and a savory and spicy beef spot, this dish is perfect for a cold day. Crispy beef rolls ($15 - 6 pieces) - This consisted of tender beef, cucumbers, scallions, and a savory sauce all rolled in a crispy and flaky scallion pancake. It's one of my favorite items here. Kung pao chicken ($16) - This stir fried dish is prepared with tender chicken, peanuts, and spices and is my favorite dish here. Sweet and sour chicken ($16) - I was impressed with the quantity of chicken in this dish. It was perfectly prepared with a crispy batter and a tangy and sweet sauce that really hit the spot! Pineapple beef ($16) - This consisted of tender and thin pieces of beef stir fried with some pineapple and is another solid dish to get here. Chocolate mochi xiao long bao ($11 - 5 pieces) - These chewy dumplings had a wonderful chocolate filling. Rose flavored red bean buns ($14 for 3) - I felt these were pricey but they had a good amount of filling and the bao bun was soft and fluffy. Golden egg custard buns ($13.5 for 3) - These are similar to the red bean buns, except the inside has egg custard. I really wish they doubled or tripled the custard, because the amount they give is miniscule, and it's for that reason I would pass on these. Overall I'm impressed with many of the items here and the pricing is reasonable. Even though I've tried so many dishes here, I wish they had even more offerings that didn't have pork. I'll definitely be back.
