2025 Review: 15 years ago, Chris saw how helpless/desperate my wife and I were with our hobbling AC system. He took amazing care of us and installed a new HVAC system with all the bells and whistles available at the time. He basically made a customer for life in 2010. 15 years *later*, Chris and his team did exactly the same thing with our new 2025 HVAC system. Flawless installation in less than a day (and with perfectly mild weather to boot), meticulous cleanup, and fantastic customer service as always. For 3 dudes rooting around in our hallway and attic installing the thing, you'd have thought they were trained by ninjas. Throughout the entire day, Chris, Juan and G didn't disrupt or "get in the way" of my wife and I while we worked from home, and got it all done without a hitch. Chris even updated the pedestal that our outside unit would sit on so now it will remain safe, dry and out of the way of any rainwater. Excellent job, but who are we kidding -it was totally expected. Neal Heating & Air Conditioning came as a recommendation from our neighbor who happened to be a long tome happy customer. We received a quote for a more affordable AC unit that wasn't sold by our typical AC repair group. Similarly rated but $5K cheaper. We were SO impressed by how detail oriented the quote was and subsequent install was. Three men came out to remove the old unit - they were AWESOME! So respectful, kind and detail oriented. Their names were Ross, Noe, and Gershom. We were so impressed by their professionalism and eye to make sure everything was working and operating as expected before leaving. I recently moved into an older home. My HVaC was pretty old. I had a lot of different companies come out and give me bids for repair and replace. I would say hands down Neals Heating and AC have the best Value and customer service. They came in lower than every bid and offered more services for my money. Bought a house with a 20yr old HVAC and wanted to get it replaced before the Texas summer heat really set in. Spoke with Chris through email about a quote. He was quick to respond and answered all my questions. Chris's quote over email came in about $1000 less than other companies were starting at for our specific job. He sent Jesse over to take a look at our house and confirm the price. Jesse talked us through our options and got us signed up for next available spot. Neal's techs showed up early and we're very friendly. They worked quickly and everything looks great. They even swept out our whole garage instead of just cleaning up their work area. So far we're extremely happy with the work Neal's has done for us and would recommend giving them a call. As a side note, while installing our condenser the techs found a 4ft Texas rat snake living under the unit. Chris came out, captured the snake, and said he'd release it on his property in the country. I know it's not much but I really appreciated the fact they chose to not harm the snake. Definitely wasn't planning on replacing my entire unit when I started the process of repairing my A/C, but my unit was 14 years old after all. I got opinions from multiple companies and Chris's quote just couldn't be matched with the system they were going to install and the additional work to update my zoned unit. On the install day, Jesse, Arturo, and the rest of the install team were expeditious, meticulous, and highly professional. Couldn't ask for a better experience. We have been using Chris for our AC/heating needs for about ten years now. We have several properties and we trust Chris to take care of all of them. We even recommend them to our friends and family. The most recent example of why we love their visit was a recent issue we had. The AC stopped working on a Sunday afternoon, on one of the hottest days of the year. We sent a message asking for help, and on a Sunday afternoon, we got a response and an appointment scheduled for the very next day. Jesse showed up, exactly on time, and quickly took care of our situation. It was a cost-effective, easy fix and Jesse had our unit back up and running in less than half an hour. Spoke with Chris this morning and while I will say that he definitely seems to know what he is talking about, the reason for this 1 star review has nothing to do with an install we experienced and everything to do with who Chris is as a person. I called Chris for a second opinion about a new system we were needing to have installed and to be honest, we were all ready to have Chris do the work until he asked for our address, saw our last name, and said "ahh, that tells me all I need to know" referencing the fact that we have a Jewish last name. I do not abide bigotry or hate in my life, my business dealings, or the people I associate myself with, and I encourage others to do the same. I ended the conversation and after thinking about it for the last 30 minutes, decided to write this review. Very unfortunate. Update (8/27/18): In response to Chris' written reply here (and btw Chris, thanks for the voicemail threatening to leave my company a bad review in retaliation for me telling the truth - I'm going to make sure I save that one), I can assure you this was not a misunderstanding. It had nothing to with business, and was not misconstrued. At no time did I ever tell you that this was a commercial project, or you wouldn't have been quoting me a residential unit (Carrier 24APB6). Yes, halfway through our conversation I mentioned that my wife and I are architects and that we know a bit about HVAC, but I never told you our business name. A misunderstanding would not explain why you exclaimed that based on my last name I would "make sure to get a great price." Again, it is unfortunate you can't just straight-up apologize for the comment. I will not be responding to this any further as I have better things to do with my time than deal with someone like you. Update (8/28/18): It seems Chris has now changed his reply to this review to be apologetic in the hopes that others won't be put off by his previous actions. They came out to check an intermittent issue that my furnace was experiencing. When they came out the furnace worked perfectly so they weren't able to diagnose the issue. Chris and his crew were super nice and didn't even charge me for the time they were out here because they could not diagnose an issue. I was able to figure out the issue was due to my nest thermostat but it could have literally been a number of things. I'll use Chris again if I ever need furnace work or a replacement. read more

Sadly during the hottest week so far this June, our old AC for downstairs quit on us. Chris and his staff to the rescue! They came asap and declared it DOA, but they had a plan. All of the equipment needed was available, and they got to us in a few days, which this summer with all the wait time, was remarkable. Because we invested in a larger unit for downstairs, the attic stairway had to be replaced in order to fit the unit through the opening. Everyone involved was punctual, very friendly, responsible, and thoughtful to clean up after themselves. There was something wonky in our upstairs plumbing, which caused the unit not to work as well, so they had to come back out the next day. Jesse was there bright and early - and so nice about returning. We highly recommend you call with AC needs. From beginning to end, my experience with AC by Chris was outstanding!! Chris was able to see me in the day I called. Unfortunately my AC unit needed to be replaced. Chris went over all the details with me of what was wrong with my old unit. He also went over all options on how to finance the new unit. I live in Leander TX. I called Chris on Sunday and had his 2 guys, Arturo and Jesse out to my home the very next day. Arturo does the ductwork and Jesse does the installation of the HVAC. I was really, really impressed with their knowledge. Duct work is SO important and Arturo knew exactly how to work the ducts for the best air flow. Jesse had great knowledge about the installation. Highly recommend this company! I, regrettably, had a policy with a home warranty company (AHS) that proved 100% worthless. I called Chris and spoke with him (NOT an offshore resource) and he had a guy (Arturo) over the next AM to look over my systems. Based on the recommendation, I replaced both the HVAC systems in my house as opposed to *try* and repair my 19-year old systems. The cost ended up *way better* than any other company around here and the professionalism displayed by everyone was outstanding: 1. When I called, I spoke directly with the OWNER, Chris, himself! 2. The total cost (while a lot for me ...) was significantly lower than anyone else that I had checked with. 3. I went from 10 SEER to 16 SEER systems using the Carrier Performance series -- what a difference! 4. The team at my house was fantastic. Led by Arturo, they were all very nice and friendly and did everything they could to keep the noise down as I was working at home while they did the work! 5. The guys were *very careful* to use some kind of 'grip blanket' on my wood stairs to make sure that nothing was damaged. 6. They cleaned up *every bit* of the debris and the house looked great when they left. 7. The guys helped me get both of the new NEST thermostats configured and made sure that I knew how to operate them. Our 22-year old 5-ton Trane furnace and A/C system for our 2,500 sf single-story home needed to be replaced. Several of our neighbors recommended Neal's, as they were very pleased with the quality and price of the furnace and A/C systems recently installed in their homes. We could not be happier with the overall experience and our new 2-stage Carrier system. It is very quiet and they reworked some of the ducts so air flow is more balanced throughout our home. Called up Chris when our A/C went out. We were promised a morning appointment the next day. The tech showed up mid afternoon. They diagnosed a refrigerant leak, gave us more refrigerant, and had the A/C up and running within an hour. But they were not able to tell us where the leak was, just saying "It's probably in the coil". The price was reasonable, so I'm not unhappy. Chris installed a complete a/C and heat system three years ago. I started having trouble with the a/C ruining excessively long so I called him. He sent out his tech right away and the unit was a bit low on freon so the tech checked every thing out and charged the unit. Chris didn't charge me for a service call, no charge at all. I met chris by at Rudy's on 360 a year or so ago.. we talked and he gave me his business card. Our front ac went out the first week of May 11'. Forgetting about Chris...I called our old company that worked on the unit a few years before. they changed out a capacitor and billed us $350 to get us going and quoted us $12,000 for a new unit.. I thought that pricing was high for what he did and couldn't believe that it would cost that much for a replacement so I did some research and found out that the capacitor cost was $35 I was pissed and remembers that I met Chris and found his card in my desk. Chris Came over for a second opinion and thoroughly explained what the issue was with our unit. Gave us options and suggest that a new system be installed. He quoted us a price 1/3rd of the our old AC guy did. it wasn't a cheapo, Generic, no named unit either. but a Carrier unit with a high seer rating 2 days later his crew came out and replaced our inside and outside unit. he found that the plenum was crushed and improperly installed and that the run off drain was never hooked up. he even added an additional return as the original wasn't enough to have proper air flow. His Crew was clean and polite, and worked hard to make sure the install was correct and no short cuts were taken.. They even cleaned up after the job was complete. So much I think they left the house cleaner than when they started. Chris even took some extra time explaining to my wife how the thermostat works and Kindly programmed the thermostat. wow.. what a difference.. the system works great. has awesome air flow and now only runs 1/4 of the time as the last unit. we even turned up the thermostat as it's so much efficient than the old unit. This was my 4th ac system getting replaced in 2 houses.. this was by far the most pleasant ac service experience I have ever had. two thumbs up and I highly recommend AC by Chris. Since it was Friday and getting late, I thought I would call this company, since it had good reviews, and I didn't feel like wallowing in my own sweat for the weekend. Chris actually answered the phone when I called, and told me he would send his partner, Bryan. Bryan called 5 minutes later, and said he was on his way. Bryan was polite and professional. He also did not look like an ex-convict that I wouldn't want in my house. Bryan took the time to look at all parts of our system, then diagnosed the problem as a minor issue.
