I do like that they also serve horchata and they gave me ice on the side. if a Mexican place give u horchata in the glass then you're getting ripped off. again I always go with horchata and if they run out of that I never budge and try the Jamaica. it's purple and I am not sure what's it made out of. Nealtican has the best, most authentic Mexican food around! I've been here multiple times and ordered quite a few items (tacos, quesadillas, guacamole, tostadas) all of which were top notch. Tortillas and chips are clearly made in house. Each taco comes with a particular topping, like al pastor tacos come with thin slices of pineapple on each one. The lenguas comes with the perfect slice of avocado on each, it's like they have a stock pile of perfect avocados always on hand! Also good to mention you get 4 tacos per order!!! I have yet to try their smoothies and other specialty items. When I first walked in I thought I was at some defunct record store. Literally there was NO sign of food or cooking going on! NONE. But I did spy a box of Spanish music CDs on the counter. So freakin strange! Anyway I asked for the menu, ordered an order of tacos ($8) which come with 4 to an order and you can have 2 different types. I got carnitas and al pastor. About 20 minutes later the tacos came out. Yeah it took forever! I know that the meat, salsas, and toppings on tacos are usually precooked and presliced so I'm sort of unsure why, for 20 minutes, I sat there while listening to music that I didn't understand, watching a soap opera that I didn't understand, and hearing people speak things that I didn't understand. At this point in the game on my life's tour of tacos however, I've come to expect that I'll be the only English speaking person in the places I go to. I still find it amusing though and clearly for some reason I find the need to comment on it. So back to the food. The al pastor were decent. Actually they were better to look at then to eat. Then pineapple on top was tasty but the meat could have been more flavorful. It seems like the meat didn't have enough time to absorb the spices when it cooked. Now the carnitas.....don't get these. They were totally flavorless and there was a TON of flaccid pork skin inside. FYI check out my pictures of el paisa in san diego for a serious carnitas taco. Wow I always support this local taco spot but an incident took place that needs to be shared. Short story short this business is under new management so there's a new young slime lady that works at the register, I'm assuming she thought I was African American cause her customer service switched when it came to me, she didn't even approach the counter she just stood were she was at and ask me what I wanted,I even ask her are you alright are you having a good day just so I would think she'll sharpen her energy towards me but no she refuse to even give me 50% of her best. So right after I ordered a Spanish woman walks in and wow talk about a quick switch up, she walks to the counter smiles does the whole customer service thing to the tee. I walk out with my food and then i thought about why would I eat this food after how she just discriminated on me, I walk right back in and immediately called her out on her ways and she acted like I was making this up and she even started to laugh at me. Well I already notified a couple news outlets to let them follow up on my story so we'll see who gets the last laugh, as far as this business I'm over it and it's ashamed cause roselle park has a large number of Mexican cuisine but this was my go to every time. Don't know why it took me so long to come here and grab a bite to eat. I drive by here 4 days a week on my way home and say to myself one day I'll stop by, and yesterday I finally did. I felt like I was one of those Mexican Resturants you see in novelas. Why you may ask, because of the decor inside. The girls that worked the front area very polite and courteous, the food takes a while so either come inside one day and grab a menu to order ahead of time if you plan to take out. Or just wait for the food to be made. I don't complain about the wait time for food, because I know it's made fresh when ordered and not just sitting around. After coming back from vacation in Oaxaca, Mexico I had been looking for good authentic Mexican food. In my search, I tried a few highly rated vendors in New York City and some restaurants but the closest and best thing to getting tacos in Mexico City is Nealtican. I've had two different styles of pork tacos (al pastor and some kind of spicy pork), quesadillas, and flautas there. Everything has been great except the flautas (I don't think I've ever had a good flauta though). You get 4 tacos an order and they come with veggies and a very nice spicy picante sauce. The prices are very reasonable although they're significantly more than what you would pay for tacos in Mexico of course. Sometimes there is a bit of a language barrier but no major problems. They even deliver. It's a small place inside, I usually just get my food to go. If you're in Union County, don't go to Taco Bell, Chipotle or Chili's eat some real Mexican food. First of all, the sign and the menu do not say "Nealtican." It says "Mexican Food." Every item on the menu is so flavorful and delicious. Not greasy. The cheese used is light and smokey. The rice and beans dont kill my stomach and are not necessarily what you would think of authentic - but who cares - they are so good! Today I ordered the enchiladas for $10.50. There were four - so I asked for two beef and two chicken. The chicken was white meat and the beef was similar to what we call sandwich steak. The avocados are fresh and the sour cream is added in little bits to add more flavor, but not over power. The drink choices are really interesting: Madarin soda, Lime punch, Raisin drink (?), sangria soda, tamarind drink, and more! So I would without a doubt give the 'spicy chicken quesadillas' (tinga) 5 stars...hands down. I crave them weekly. You also have to try the red and green salsas...outstanding. Good enough to go back. Some of the tacos deserve 4 stars (al pastor)....but some (chicken and steak) are a little bland on seasoning. So, I lived in Arizona for 25 years, and had Mexican Food weekly. I've been to Mexico multiple times. I have NEVER seen or even heard of a quesadilla made with corn tortillas and cojita cheese. The quesadilla was served cold and the cheese wasn't even melted. Just wrong. On the plus side, the beans were good and appeared homemade. The green salsa was good. Could it be?? An authentic Mexican restaurant...near me...in NJ?? I'm almost scared to give this place a review after eating takeout from here only once, (this past Fri. night)...especially with the way it seems when you find an awesome new place to eat, and the very next time not so awesome, you know? Well, I'm going to take a leap of faith and give this place 4 stars since it was SUPER in a way I have found familiar in other Mexican places I love (like Los Hermanos in Bklyn, and the El Sabor taco trucks in Midtown). We started with a chorizo quesadilla (really nice and big, with ground chorizo meat, not sliced, and cheese, neatly topped with crema and crumbled queso fresco. Nice intro. Next, was Chicken Enchiladas (chicken, unfortunately the only choice that I was aware of, according to the menu, anyway) and I had them topped with the Mole sauce...OMG, the sauce was AWESOME, not too spicy, smoky with a faint peanuty taste, but in no way overpowering...I was floored by the deliciousness of this dish...the rice and beans offered with the meal were very tasty, almost as good as the enchildas themselves, which also had a modest amount of crema and sliced, ripe avocado, just enough, but not too much...yummmm! Hubby had the carnitas, which were okay...thinly (grilled?) sliced pork, rice, beans and a small stack of warm corn tortillas. Kinda plain, but even so, my husband thought it was pretty good and well cooked. We also tried the tacos, which included 4 tacos to an order. We tried the salted beef and the tacos al pastor (pork). The Pork tacos were nicely done, well seasoned pork meat, fresh chopped cilantro, onion, and some fresh sliced pineapple (wished there was more of that on it...so good!)...but WARNING...The Salted beef WAS EXTREMELY SALTY...I wouldn't order it again, but I should have known what I was in for after it said "Salty Beef" on the menu, right? Also, wished they had more selections of fillings for the enchiladas, like beef & cheese. Maybe they will offer them if you request them, which I will do next time we order. This place is a 3.5 star establishment. Small and tucked into downtown Roselle Park, expect a good selection of items. Recommend the pork skin and "regular" chicken quesadilla - both were favorites. Skin was crispy and delicious - separately, the chicken was moist and far from over dried which can often happen with quesadillas. Avoid the steak taco - it was drier then the Mojave Desert in August. The pork taco's had mixed reviews - like they give you 4, but could have used a bit more flavor. I came into this small place on a Saturday and it was EMPTY. I thought great and I should get my food right away. Boy was I wrong. I ordered the shrimp burrito and waited 20 minutes. I got fed up and asked where my food is, the girl replied, "shrimp takes longer to cook that regular meat". HAHA!!! Thanks for lying to me I thought and walked out. Pretty good, I was hesitant to try this place because from outside it dosent look like much but I was pleasantly suprised by the food. I ordered steak tacos it took about 10 min. I got them to go and when I opened the order I was happy with what I found. I asked for them w/ onions and cilantro , they added a cheese wwhich i easily removed. I added their Salsa verde( it was very hot but fresh and garlicky) and provded lime . they were awesome I will definately go back. Next time i will know to ask for them w/out cheese. read more

Everything was made fresh while we waited, and she double checked how spicy we wanted everything. We got guacamole, a beef burrito (it was the size of my face), the spicy chicken quesadilla, and some other flatbread type thing (I forget what it was called)... They gave us both green and red sauce, spicy and not spicy, for our food. I cannot rave about this place enough. It wasn't your typical greasy overly cheesey Mexican restaurant.
