From past bad experiences with burgers and product quality issues in many different airport restaurants, I normally don't order burgers because they are always cold, dry, tasteless, and downright horrible. But this burger from Shake Shack was surprisingly very good. I ordered from the self-serving kiosk and the wait time for my order was about 5 minutes. The entire restaurant including the counter area, dining area, and even the condiments station was all very clean and inviting. I ordered the Double Shack Burger made with two smashed angus beef patties, American cheese, and topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and Shack Sauce on a toasted potato bun, an order of fries and a 20 oz bottled drink for $24.79. A little step, but of course, all menu items are à la carte, and this is airport dining. The bun was fresh soft, and lightly toasted. The burger patties were nicely smashed, hot, juicy, the cheese melted and all the condiments were fresh, cool, and bright. This burger was prepared with care and assembled beautifully to create the perfect burger. The crinkle cut fries were perfectly cooked, lightly salted, and golden brown. This was by far the BEST airport burger and fries I have ever eaten. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-03-26 Shake Shack | Newark Liberty International Airport | Terminal A

Quick and Inexpensive option while at Newark Liberty Airport…read more I was starving and decided to stop at BurgerFi since after checking other food spots nearby and almost nothing was less than $20. So a cheeseburger for $10 and a double for $13 seemed like a deal. I went with the double and the ordering and pick up process was quick. Although I will say staff did not seem friendly and more robotic than anything else. But nonetheless I got my food quick. The ambiance is nice, they have a bar to sit and enjoy a beer while you wait but I had to catch a flight. The burger was relatively small to what I was expecting. I had to double check to make sure there were two patties and the slice of tomato was paper thin. I still golfed it down as I was super hungry and it was pretty good. My biggest complaint was portion size but maybe because it's suppose to be "quality" beef that's were they jack up thr price or maybe it's because of it being located in the airport. Who knows. But it still is the best deal that I saw for a quick bite.

As I was leaving NJ post work trip, I was excited to see a location in Newark Airport...I wish I had gone elsewhere. Rolling up to the counter, it took a total of four tries to get my order taken because one of his co-workers kept coming over and messing with him and interrupting/distracting the employee literally mid-sentence. Once I finally got my order placed I made my way and found a table. The wait for my Breakfast Burger w/ Veggie Patty and an order of their Cry+Fry took quite a bit of time...but totally worth it for my order to be made hot and fresh. Wrong. My burger was warm and my customization's were correct but my Cry+Fry was no where near hot and fresh...I would have settled for warm but it was room temp at best and was not good. Most of it went in the trash. Overall the experience was not enjoyable. They do have a full bar and draft beers if that's your thing and also dedicated seating for their location with plugs to charge your devices pre-flight. That's the best thing I can say about my visit to this location. My advice to you: find somewhere, literally anywhere else in EWR to grab a bite or a drink. You'll thank me later.

The Thrillist said it's the airport's answer to Shake Shack. Huh? Answering what question? It's cheap. A burger with a giant patty is under $7. But it was sloppily made from mediocre ingredients. The burger meat was dense, overcooked, and a bit liver-y in flavor. Yellow cheese, a slice of tomato, some onions and lettuce. The chocolate shake was good. Creamy, rich, nicely chocolatey, like softened ice cream. The paper turtle-friendly straw doesn't really work; ask for a spoon (and so much for avoiding plastics). Disappointing.

It was a bit greasy which is to be expected from a joint like this. My burger had absolutely no (zero, zip, nada) flavor or taste. On a positive note the bun was excellent and not the cheap kind of bun you find at so many places. The veggie topping were excellent. Very crisp and fresh! Too bad the burger was so bland because this could have been a good burger. This is not a $6 burger and is something I will take a pass on the next time I fly through Newark. You have better options at the bigger sit down restaurants than this place!

The first time we both had Charburgers. I had the Teriyaki Char which is basically a charburger w/ grilled pineapple, teriyaki sauce, and added cheese. I get this burger often and it's one of my favorites. I like the combination of the burger with the sweet pineapple and teriyaki sauce. My hubby got the Double Char plus added cheese and bacon and picked up some complimentary peppers from their pepper bar. He normally gets this burger and really likes it. For the side we had Sweet potato fries w/ classic ranch dipping sauce. For drinks we normally try one of their juices but I take a small sample first because sometimes they're too sweet. Service was friendly and fast so we returned for a second visit... On this trip half the order exactly the same, My hubby had the same burger and sweet potato fries but I wanted to try the Patty melt that they are having back for a limited time. I thought the burger was just ok... It's probably not something I would order again. I also had some onion rings w/ ranch dipping sauce which I love. So basically I recommend sticking with some type of Char Burger. All in all another great visit to Habit :)
