First hair makeover in two years. I had hair down to my pants waist, had I known my hair would've turned out this way, I would have never stepped into the salon. Mutually agreed to balayage AND little highlights, was OVER CHARGED to get highlights only. Gabrielle "glazed" my hair and turned the color into ash which was not what I wanted at all. After going home and throughly reviewing my hair I was very much displeased. Returned the next day to add more color and redo my ends.. they glazed it and again I ONLY have highlights. I recently booked a consultation for Great Lengths Hair Extensions. For the past 6 months my hair has been thinning out a lot, which can be extremely depressing for a woman. I was super excited to finally have a professional talk to me about extensions and what would be the best option for me. My husband also went to the consultation so we could ask questions and get all the information. When we arrived, I was handed a small packet to fill out and it contained the maintenance & care for Great Lengths. My appointment was at 7:30, we waited for 20 minutes and no one came over to us. I got up and asked if I needed to reschedule and they said someone would be with me soon. Finally, someone came over and said they would get started going over the care and maintenance..which I've already read about. She brought us to a chair in the middle where they were styling and blow drying, making it hard to hear anything. I thought a consultation would have been more private, but I was wrong. She continued to fumble through the paperwork and reading everything word for word. No one even asked why I was interested in Great Lengths! If they did, I would have explained that I am not there just to have a different look, I was there because I needed their help and expertise....they didn't seem to care. Finally, my real consultation started and the first thing she started with was how my hair was perfect for Great Lengths, how many bundles I would need to buy, how much the cut could be, and the cost for the special brush and spray. I did tell her that my hair has been thinning and it's getting better but she went right on into..."Let's match your hair color". Meanwhile, the blow dryer across from us was still going and we could barely talk. No privacy at all! At that point I was so frustrated and I was ready to leave and we did leave! I thought i would be treated like they really cared about why I was going to spend $1400.....instead of them trying to sell, sell, sell and rush through it. Before booking my appointment, I watched their YouTube videos and checked out their website. They seemed to be all about being positive and awesome, but I promise you....it's all about them and making the sale. I am beyond disappointed with my "consultation" and would not recommend going there for extensions or any other services. My recommendation to Neat Beat would be to take the time to ask your clients why they are thinking of dropping $1400 on their hair. Some people may have that kind of money to change their hair for fun, but for those of us who were going to make sacrifices to help their self esteem, we would appreciate a little more respect. read more

I went here for a simple trim maybe a update but it started out to be just a trim. I have short hair bit long on top so I can part it to go to the right or to the left. I think her name was Mary that cut my hair she went to short so I said ok I see you went to short so just clean up the bangs and let's see how that looks. Again she keeps cutting and bam she takes a chunk out of my right side so now it's too short. Oh really wtf!!! She her boss comes over the Owner but all she really wants to do is blend it in on the left side. I have no choice my hair is in there hands and she said she would take care of it, what about my color? Again we will take care of it. Nooooooo I had to pay. I asked for my I brows tinted maybe they will comp that. No not that either. Yes I tipped I'm not a jerk the new girl needs more training but not on a new customers. I did not yell or scream I wanted out of a place that they ruined my hair. I now only can style it on the left. Really I have a cut I hate!!!! I cried all the way home!!! Take your highlight appointment that your going to charge me and keep it. I'm going to tweet Instagram and rate you all over that you suck! **** I find it funny that you would think it's ok to chop off someone's hair and say that you would take care of it still charge them. I have had my hair cut here for several yrs,and in that time span I have had multiple stylist due to high turn over, I've tried to stayed flexible as it is a hassle to find a new salon, however what I find I cannot tolerate any longer is incompetent scheduling , I recently was called by neatbeat the day before my scheduled appointment to change my time due to my stylist being unavailable (another new one), I was moved to a different time with a different stylist (again new) , I reluctantly agreed as the new time was going to be inconvenient, when I showed up 25 minutes early I was told that I was late ???? I explained I was called the day before and the time was changed due to the stylist being out..... I was then told that yes there were stylist out but my appointment was not moved. I reiterated that I was called the day before and the appointment was moved... I was then offered a appointment on a different day- I declined . This is the third scheduling issue that I have had here in the past year and it will be the last. read more

The girls here know how to get it right with hair- I always leave more than satisfied! I've been seeing Danielle ever since they started in their small salon inside Sola Salons. They have now moved to this much larger location next to the Mussel & Burger Bar. I cannot gush enough how fabulous it is inside this salon! The atmosphere is nothing short of uplifting and exciting with it's inspirational touches and ultra feminine decor. This is an Aveda salon as well so I really enjoy that because their products are phenomenal. Danielle has perfected my ómbre and never lets me down :) all of the girls here are so sweet and definitely knowledgable on how to do great hair. We got there about 10 minutes early, filled out a basic info form along with questions about hobbies, favorite snacks, favorite artist. It was a nice touch them wanting to know about the client. This place is awesome! I will only go to Aveda salons and I followed the Creator, Heather, from Pure Salon to here. I love it, Alexa and Emily are awesome. Whatever you do, do NOT see Danielle. This salon has very few negative reviews and the negatives ones are about her. She makes you feel very uncomfortable as a customer, like a nuisance to her and is always in a hurry for her personal plans after work. Like the others said, she made rude comments about my hair and my brows. I'm not someone who is easily offended but I was so upset I wanted to walk out before she had even cut my hair. I am a loyal Aveda follower and have never had a bad experience at any of their salons in the last 10 years until I saw her. I could write a book about how much I enjoyed my visit here. I did a lot of research before choosing Neatbeat, and chose them because of the glowing reviews online and the convenient location. I have only ever been to cheap chain salons and haven't walked out completely happy with my cut in, well, years. The first thing I noticed about Neatbeat was that the outside is friendly and inviting. They have a running list of things they're thankful for posted outside the front door. I was greeted by a cheery chalkboard sandwich sign, listing the names of the customers who had appointments for that day- "Hello, gorgeous!" And the inside of the salon is adorable. It looks like a Pinterest page come to life. I was offered a drink (I declined) and was asked to fill out a short survey before meeting with my stylist. Not only did it ask for basic contact info and the usual questions, but it also had fun things, like my favorite flavor of coffee and my favorite music artist. My stylist was Alexa, and she did such an excellent job. She looked at the pictures I had saved (one for my bangs, one for the rest of my hair) and asked lots of questions to be sure she could help me get what I wanted, including what kinds of products I usually use on my hair (shampoo) and what level of styling I'm comfortable with. I then got my "neck treatment" before my hair was even washed. This included the use of the essential oil of my choice and a neck and shoulder massage. It was absolutely lovely, and something I've never experienced before. I was then led to the "Love Shack," a comfortable nook where the hair-washing takes place. The reclining seats even had footrests! I always think that having my hair washed by someone else is very relaxing, and it's my favorite part of any haircut. Neatbeat made the experience even better, as I received a "warm eye pillow" and an amazing hand massage once the shampoo and conditioner had been rinsed out. After that, we got to the cutting. Alexa was meticulous and thorough, again, doing everything possible to make sure that I got the cut I wanted. She also offered advice for caring for my new hairstyle at home, including what simple products to use and how to train my part to be further over (a requirement for my desired style.) She explained everything every step of the way, which was really helpful for me, since I've never really done anything for my hair other than washing it! All in all, the experience took almost two hours, but I appreciated not being rushed- it was clear that my needs and wants were being put first. I ran errands after getting my hair done, and I felt such a happy boost in my confidence and self-esteem, like I've never experienced before. All thanks to the ladies at Neatbeat! Weeks later, I am still getting compliments from friends, family, and folks at work, and I don't hesitate for a second to recommend Neatbeat. When I tell them about my experience, they seem a little envious and express an interest in going, but they are absolutely floored when I tell them how affordable it was (my morning cost $29!) I see they have many reviews that are good. Unfortunately my wife came home yesterday crying her eyes out because all of her hair was chopped off by a new hair stylist. She just came in for a trim! Your new employee chopped off a chunk of her hair so she had no choice but to go shorter! This is horrible she is so sad. They made her pay! They told her they would fix it! She feels like she is a boy! I am not happy myself! We moved here a over 7 months ago and this is how she is treated. I went here last Friday for my first appointment, a brow wax. I've had my brows waxed minimally in the last decade because every time I go somewhere either the person doing it is too rough, or they make them wonky (I know brows are supposed to be sisters not twins, but mine always ended up looking like third cousins), or too thin, or whatever. I had a wedding to go to on Friday and with as much as I've been working I haven't been keeping on top of my brows as I should so they kind of got a bit....wild. I arrived early and was greeted, offered a beverage which was nice and was impressed by the cleanliness and the privacy of the salon. I really like when a salon offers a partition break from the waiting area and where you get your hair done. You can see back there but really there is a divide between where you wait and where you go for services, I liked that. Tara did my service, she was running late and that was the ONLY reason I gave a less than 4 stars here. I don't want that to make that sound like it was a huge negative because the first thing she said after introducing herself was to apologize profusely for being late. No excuses were made (omg I got stuck in traffic, or I had a flat tire), she just said she was running late and she was really sorry I had to wait. I think I was maybe 10 or 15 minutes over my scheduled appointment time and I got there early. Tara was VERY bubbly and friendly without being overly so. She wasn't prying but we were able to have a very nice conversation about what brought me in (first time customer), why I was getting my services, what I did for a living, the basics without it seeming forced or contrived. She seemed genuinely interested in what I was saying. We went back to the area and she asked me what I wanted from my brows, used a pencil to show me kind of what she had planned on doing and we got down to business. The wax wasn't too warm and she wasn't overly aggressive, in all I was very comfortable the entire time. She asked me if I ever filled my brows in with makeup which I don't typically when I work, but because I was going to a special event that night and it was part of the service I let her do it. She did an amazing job, the fill in was nice, it wasn't TOO bold. I like my brows to be more bold rather than thin and she did a great job at balancing them out without making them too thick. The arch was on point, the spacing perfect, and the proportions spot on. My brows were actually sisters, if not fraternal twins for a change. After service she helped me find some products for my hair as I was out of shampoo/conditioner and in the market for a new product, giving Aveda's Black Malva a go to see how I like it and if it keeps my hair black. Couple constructive things I wanted to note, my receipt didn't have a break down of services and products, so I wasn't sure how much to tip her at first, I had to ask the front desk rep how much it was, in the end I just left some cash. I know it's probably hard to do but it would be nice to see a new receipt system that breaks down the products/services. In the future though I will probably just ring up service and products on different transactions. This is partially my fault for not asking but while I got a brow fill for free and I'm not familiar with the makeup line they offer, it would have been nice for them to offer to apply concealer around the brows after the service. Again, it's been a long time since I've had my brows waxed and when I left and looked in my car mirror the areas around my brows were very irritated and red, I still had errands to run that day and had to make a quick stop in at Kroger to pick up some concealer. I also noticed that when I went to apply makeup that night there was still a lot of wax left in my brows and around my brow area that I didn't notice while applying the concealer, especially between the brows and in the brow area itself. Fortunately we had some oils that I could remove the wax with safely without issue, if not that would have been difficult to deal with. Last thing and it's not something they can help but just something to note, parking was kind of terrible. I went at 1PM on Friday and I had to park SEVERAL businesses away from theirs. I'm not sure if it's always like that but it's a VERY crowded little area with a lot of businesses and a fairly cramped lot. I'm sure after hours when some of the businesses are closed and Neatbeat is still open it's fine, but you are also sharing parking with the restaurant next door. Just a thing to keep in mind. All in all I was VERY pleased with this experience, for the price I feel the wax was very good, I've had MUCH worse at much higher prices so I was very happy with it. I think for the price and the atmosphere it would certainly be a place I would return for maintenance. I also plan to return in the next several weeks for a touch up color and in the upcoming months for a cut. read more

This was my third time going to Neatbeat, and the only reason I'm giving three stars is due to the two previous visits with a different stylist. Skylar may have just been having a bad day or something, but after I gave pictures of what I was going for and explained that my hair needed to look blended and natural, I ended up with random red pieces that just kind of made me look like I'd dyed it myself and there wasn't enough dye applied to the middle of my hair. $250 for a rushed and regrettably irreconcilable (since I was moving out of state later that day) is SUPER disappointing, as I loved this salon and held it at such high regard prior to this experience. read more

My hair is very thick and curly. The lady that colored my hair was nice. However , she made comments that made me feel uncomfortable, as though she was fed up with doing my hair. She stated, 'I need a drink after doing your hair', and 'my arm hurts'. Multiple times. I feel as a professional you should not say comments as such to your customer. I have been looking for a new hair salon every since I came back home from college. I liked my long hair and simply did not get it cut--only when I had too and only if I could get it cut for super cheap! In the fall I went to two different hair salons two weeks apart to get the super cute hair style I wanted and left paying way too much and complete dissatisfied. A friend posted on Facebook about how awesome Neabeat was and I was curious. When it came time to needing my next haircut I started to research more about Neatbeat. Their website was so fun and offered everything I wanted to know and more about the salon. I decided I would give it a try. When I arrived at the salon I was greeted by a sign with my name on it! The last time I arrived at place that had my name on a sign I was 16 and looking for a college. This made me feel valued and appreciated--and I hadn't even walked in the door yet! When I arrived they didn't even ask for my name, they said "Kim, Alexa is finishing with a client and will be right with you. Would you like anything to drink?" I declined and sat down. While I was waiting the other artist in the studio asked me questions about myself. They were so friendly! When Alexa sat me down in the chair I could feel like I was going to love this place! She asked m about what I wanted, why I wanted it and asked me about how I style my hair. She then told me that a neck massage comes with a haircut. As a teacher coming to a salon on a Friday night, I could have not asked for anything more! It was so relaxing and really helped with my stress. After that we went to wash my hair. I normally hate this part because I am so short. My head normally i s stretched out from my neck to reach the bowl, but not here! Their chairs have recliners! No more awkward stretching to get my head to the sink! I was able to relax and enjoy it! She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted the "warm eye treatment". Heck yes, I did. She then gave me hand massage and allowed me to relax. I loved it. She didn't try to talk to me during the portion which I enjoyed It was a time to relax and she seemed to understand it. She then took me to do the cut. She was very meticulous and our conversation flowed and was not awkward like I have felt in the past at other salons. She then dried my hair and made sure everything was even. She asked me if I wanted it curled as my style. I was amazed that this was not going to cost me extra. She game me tips about how to style and how to get my hair to hold a curl. When she was done I was kind of sad. I made my appointment for 10 weeks later and I almost regret it. I wish I would have made it sooner! Neatbeat will be my new salon for years and years! The value and appreciate their customers! That is so important to me! read more

The ONLY reason it's not a 1 star is because the girl doing my hair was sweet. HOWEVER, I essentially walked out after almost $200 (because I still tipped...) with my hair not looking much different than when I walked in. I was referred to this salon by a lovely lady who clearly has MUCH better experiences than I did. I had a salon I went to for years, but after moving to Louisville, I didn't want to have to continue to drive across the bridge. So, I gave this salon a try on her recommendation. I went in with a picture of what my color had looked like from a previous trip to a different salon. My hair when I left looked NOTHING like the picture. While we were at the sink washing out the color, I had another lady come back and look at it. The ends of my hair were pink. PINK!! So, the blonde color that had been put in was now not going to be blonde due to the 3 toners that were applied. (I assume it was 3, that's what I was charged for..) Not to mention, I was charged extra (full highlight) for a partial highlight because I do have a lot of hair, and it is thick. But, anything over a certain number of grams of color is additional, so I was told they were doing me a favor by charging me for a full vs. partial.... Only go to this salon if you have a bunch of money and time to spend only to come out looking like you did when you walked in. NEXT!!! read more

I was very dissatisfied with the cut and I had to go to a different salon the next day and have it fixed. I emailed the salon to see about getting reimbursed and it was unnecessarily complicated. I wish I had more positive than negative things to say but unfortunately I don't. I will start with the positive though. The salon is cute and clean, nice atmosphere, Morgan is very nice and does a good job cutting hair. That's where the positive ends. Unfortunately their prices are outrageous. I decided to go platinum blonde from a dark ashy blonde. My hair is very short so not much hair to color. Not only did they charge me $159 just to do the platinum blonde but my hair broke off so bad in some areas all I had left were little sprouts of hair. Plus the tone was very yellow and honestly it just looked awful. The price really got me though. I've gone to Z Salon and paid less for a cut AND highlights in longer hair than I did just for this hair color. The pricing is horrendous. On top of that, they apparently will keep your credit or debit card on file without your knowledge and if you miss an appointment for whatever reason they will just help themselves to charging what they claim is 50% of what the appointment would cost. Despite the fact they have no written consent or signature to do so. So beware if you give them any credit or debit information!!!! I had to call my bank and report the charges as fraudulent and unauthorized, what a royal pain!!! And did I mention my hair got destroyed. Luckily Morgan was able to fix some of the destruction with a cute even shorter cut, but ultimately they are way way way overpriced (you can get the same or better Aveda services at Z's for cheaper) and they will try to steal your money. When I called to make an appointment I specifically asked for a hairstylist that was really good at cutting curly hair, the receptionist's response was everyone there is great. The place and people are very nice. Unfortunately my haircut was not. At the end of my haircut she asked me how it looked. I told her that one side looked longer than the other. She first said she didn't even cut that area and then parted my hair different. It still was uneven but I knew we were not going to get anywhere. The next day I called to let them know I wasn't satisfied with my cut. They rescheduled me for a free haircut with the same person. Later that day I decided I didn't want to go with the same person so I called back to cancel. The receptionist said I didn't have an appointment scheduled. So from the beginning to the end I did not feel like I was being heard on any of my requests. I hope this is just a one time thing for them but I will not be giving them another try. It was my second time getting my hair done and it was just a great as the first time. As a stay at home mom with a toddler and no extended family around I had to bring him with me to the salon. The girls were so sweet and nice to me about it not making me stressed or worried about it. They also never made me feel bad for bringing him. Outside of how great they were about him they have done amazing work both times. I have done ombré there twice and both times it has come out so great. And I love how the girls really asked questions and truly made sure they knew the cut I wanted and that it would work for me. And the neck massage is just what any moms needs. I can totally agree that the salon looks great and has an awesome atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating when you come in. They do well on their customer service end- they messed up my updo the first time and offered to fix it for free, so yeah. That is why I can give it three stars. As far as the hair cuts go, this place is not for me. I've been to Danielle twice for a haircut and the first time she kind of missed the mark on what I asked for. I chalked it up to me not communicating right- even though I pulled up my Pinterest and showed several pictures. My appointment started to run long so another stylist came in and they both started round brushing my hair so rough and fast I thought I was going to cry. The second time I came in for a haircut (there was only a second time because the place is in a convenient location for me), I was VERY specific with what I wanted and didn't get any of it. I have a lot of hair and when my appointment began to run long again- she began to rush me out of the chair. I stopped her and told her - no I need more layers, and I wanted a "v" cut because my hair is too thick, she flat out said "no I think it looks fine". I got up out of the chair and I never came back! It really bums me out to be leaving a negative review because everyone is really nice and talented but they. do. not. listen. I have been to this salon three times, each time my hair was cut by a different person, and the first time I asked for a layer that hit at my lips on top of what I already had, but she cut one much lower and I had to sit in the chair for probably an extra twenty minutes telling her to go shorter and shorter until she did what I asked. I thought, no worries, I still got what I wanted. The second time I went in for a cut and color. I wanted an auburn ombre and left as a blonde. I asked for bardot type curtain bangs and brought a photo and left with blunt straight-across bangs. I thought maybe this was me not being clear enough, but I looked awful and nothing like the picture I brought in. I would give them one more chance. Last time I was there I asked for side bangs to help remedy my grown out blunt bangs, and that was done perfectly. However, I also asked for all over layers and I walked out with two distinct, choppy, unblended layers and I couldn't tell at the time because she had curled my hair. I don't know if that is some new edgy technique but it looks ridiculous unless I curl my hair, which I never do. I do not think I'll be returning, but their place is very cute, and everyone is friendly. My advice is to be crystal clear and have them repeat everything back to you and ask them to show you a picture of what you are saying so you know they're on the same wavelength. read more
