Stopped by during my bike ride and I couldn't be more satisfied. In fact, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver. Hands down. The atmosphere & music was great, the server was friendly and attentive and the food came out relatively fast. My friend & I ordered the chicken chimichanga, carne asada taco and chicken tinga taco. The chicken was so juicy, the rice & beans were delicious and every salsa we tried was SOOO flavorful!!! The prices were very reasonable. It looks so good; rice was so hard beans from a can and flautas were not prepared right all of the topping completely fell apart. The guac salsa on the side was flavor less. The queso fundido was SO salty. The salsa for the chips is gross no flavor no spice. The tortillas went cold and hard immediately. We tried the Brunch at this place after seeing videos on social media, it was a Saturday around 11, we were seated right away. Atmosphere is great, The server was very nice and attentive at the beginning . We ordered drinks the Green-Go Juice was very watered down but mimosas were good. We tried the chilaquiles, steak and eggs, horchata & Berry French toast and a kids Mac and cheese. The chilaquiles were bland and the chicken was not good, the steak and eggs are more like carne asada it was okay, there was ZERO difference between the two French toasts we ordered except for the strawberry sauce on top of the berry French toast but they were not good and extremely dry! The Mac and cheese was by far the worst it was just pasta with nacho cheese on top. The server again was great at the beginning but did not check on us after we got our food and it took us about 35 minutes to get the check I feel like it was definitely overpriced for the quality of the food. read more

We tried Necio for brunch, first time for brunch, it was a good overall experience, chiliquilles benedict was different and both my guest and myself liked it. The overall brunch itself was fine, we liked the food, the problem came when we got our bill, in my opinion. When the server handed me the point of sale system and just camped over me staring at what I would tip. This really put me off, it took what was a more than adequate brunch experience and turned me off to the point I probably won't be back again. I felt forced to hit 20 percent because someone was glaring at me while I was typing in the value. I've had other good lunch experiences here, but this last experience sort of soured me on Necio moving forward. I dont like feeling pressured when I'm paying for a check, and I think that's a perfectly reasonable feeling. I probably would have tipped 15 to 20 percent anyway, it was just this odd feeling I got after this experience that soured my overall view of this restaurant. Another brunch item of note the 23 dollar bottomless mimosas are very premium prices, in a sea of brunch places (downtown and otherwise) that typically charge 10-15 or so for bottomless (generally with an entree purchase). read more

This spot is a must if you're in the sunnyside area. Came in for brunch and was craving a smothered burrito. The burritos are huge and definitely hits the spot if you're suffering from a hangover. Look man I'm going to be honest with ya, I've been wanting to come here for ages because I saw this ridiculous looking mango frozen Marg on insta and I knew I had to try. I will admit it was a let down. It's definitely cool looking and fun to order, but with a ratio of one tequila shot to 3 scoops of ice you gotta look at this as more of a dessert than a cocktail. Overall I'd say their cocktails are pretty meh. I also tried the pineapple mezcal cocktail: it was OK. It was served with a flame so that was fun. I definitely think they are trying to appeal to the lohi hipster crowd which I have no problem with, their program just needs a little work. The cocktails look cool, but just a few tweaks for the fast to match the looks. Alfie tried the prickly pear Marg, and I'm glad he got that (as I was eyeing it) because it was waaaay too sweet. I will say the Tamarind Marg was good, and i would say that was probably the most ordered drink and now I know why. I will say the couple that sat next to us said their spicy margs were bomb and ordered multiple so I will definitely try that next time. Now on to the food. Bomb. Their Queso fundido was awesome! I love love loved that they not only did chorizo but also jalapeño as that was an amazing addition of a little heat. I opted for the carnitas plate which was delish! Excellent meat, great green chili, homemade corn tortillas. Really just a wonderful meal. My fiancé got the carne chimichanga and he was also very pleased: it was loaded with succulent meat. Came here on a Saturday night - first I made a reservation and parked while my guest went in so I tell host at front my guest already checked in for 2 at 7 he sits me down at a table so I'm like Ok I guess she's in restroom... I text her and some guy comes and is like your friends outside. Then we place drink orders they look great and a nice drink menu of options. My 2nd star is for drinks alone because their big and delish otherwise 1 star only. We place order and waiter says we have big parties so bar is behind can I get an app started so we place order for the Trio and an order to share fajitas as entree. It takes awhile and the trio comes the queso is awful it tastes like velveeta with chili Powder on top. Guac is ok and ceviche is meh. Literally 1 min later our fajitas come and we say umm we just got appetizer how are we supposed to eat this. The waiter just shrugs. The menu says Fajitas is for 2 but the rice beans, sour cream are tiny amounts also they give you 3 tortillas for 2 people? How does that make sense? We asked for more and they charged us $2 for 3 more. The fajitas were bland just meat no seasoning and the Vegis were still raw on the plate. Service, food alone will not be visiting this place again. It's too bad because it's a cute set up and spot but they have a lot to work on. read more

With plenty of seating and intimate tables you can enjoy a date night or a family and friends da gathering of 8+. The staff is very professional and will serve you well, and for those of us who like to have drinks they have many specialties to choose from. Mixed well and presented with artisan touches, you'll be well pleased. As for the appetizers, they are so good and sets you up for your main course. With fresh ingredients and gluten free menu, you will not go wrong. Giant plates of food and will taste the rich history of Mexico and the americas. I had the Mago drink in the lightbulb glass, which was amazing. I was definitely feeling it after a few minutes! No regrets. The food was amazing. My husband and I were so excited to try this restaurant for our anniversary. When we arrived around noon on a Sunday, they said the wait might be close to an hour and a half. We said no problem--that we would happily wait. After 90 minutes had passed, we went to check on our place in line and the hostess said they had shut down seating because the kitchen was so backed up...and that it would probably be another hour to get in PLUS another hour after that to get our food. I totally understand that they are busy...but it is unacceptable to make anyone wait essentially 4 hours to eat. Why not just tell us when we arrived that we need a reservation instead of making us wait so long.... only to turn around and tell us that they basically couldn't accommodate us after we had already waited so patiently? The atmosphere is gorgeous and the food looks amazing. But they need to sort out their logistics so as not to waste their customers' entire afternoon read more

Great place. Good flavors but a little disappointed in some changes in the last year. Their sopes are typically delicious. If you are familiar with the sope itself, made of masa.....biting into it should be a nice soft but solid sope. I had to send it back. It was hard as a rock. Cutting into it was difficult. This is the picture of it when it was remade.....you can see it is still overall overcooked. Looks crunchy. Almost like it's coated in something. It was not good. I didn't really eat it. Same with the necio ceviche. Mostly made of cucumber, tomatoes and onions with a sprinkle of shrimp. Wish I took a picture. Anyway. Hopefully they improve because it is a very good restaurant. We agreed that this was the best Mexican we have had in Denver. I was very excited to see clearly labeled vegan options on the menu and they did not disappoint. I got the vegan enchiladas and even though there was no vegan cheese the filling of squash, veggie chorizo, potato was really good. I got a piña colada and my fiancé had a blackberry margarita. We also order the queso fundido. The drinks and appetizer were out within less that 5 mins of ordering them. We ordered our meals, and they again arrived within 5-10mins. At this point we had only been there for 20 mins and were a little overwhelmed. We had asked for our food to be delayed between courses so that we could enjoy our drinks, appetizers and our time together. So we were disappointed when the food was rushed to the table and we had no room for it. I also had a dirty water glass with "particles" in it. Overall, the food was ok, the drinks were great, and the service was mediocre at best. Would only really go back for the drinks. read more

This is a great place to go to for brunch! The portions are generous and the prices are good. I usually get the bean and cheese burrito (image below) and it's only $8! The staff is friendly, and the place is lively and always upbeat. You can't go wrong with free chips and salsa as well! The only thing I wish was different was the portion of the mimosa was a little disappointing. Came here for a birthday, made a reservation for 7:00. Didn't get seated till 7:45. After sitting for about 20 minutes without anyone checking in, we placed our drinks but didn't receive them till after our food (which took at least anothed hour). Half of them were made wrong, and we were missing several. The wait staff seemed annoyed when we asked for our drinks to be corrected, and even slammed down a drink next to me. My friend was mocked for asking for sugar on her margarita, and after (another) 30 minute delay, she finally received what she hoped to be a sugar margarita but found to her dismay, it was still salt. 20% gratuity tip was included with the bill. They threw on a few extra charges for "top shelf liquor" on the house margaritas, and once again we were faced with attitude when we asked about it. Overall this is one of the poorest services we've received. We even saw the manager walking around asking other tables how everything was, but we were ignored. We were a group of 12 (with a reservation) and were super polite until we received the check, and once again were treated with rudeness. I would definitely recommend going somewhere else with your friends for a birthday :( Also, no birthday dessert. Confused, sad. Not a lot of incentive to treat guests kindly when automatic 20% gratuity is included regardless. read more

My wife and I just had a wonderful brunch experience! I'm going to start with a negative to explain what, in my view, makes Necio Mexican Kitchen great. My friends and I talk about, what we call, 'unjustified pretension'; it's when a restaurant tries to dress things up and charge extra with no underwriting substance. I very much dislike when a cuisine, known for peasant food or street food, is dressed up with ambiance and aesthetics, and then sold at more expensive prices than it is worth. The poor food must feel like Tom Sawyer sitting in church made to wear clothes in which he is wholly uncomfortable. Indian restaurants do this often selling the same exact food at different prices, their evening fare being more expensive (it is often the left overs of the day's earlier lunch buffet). Necio Mexican Kitchen is none of that. Necio has all the characteristics of an upscale restaurant, with an attention to detail on every plate (the menu being well though out too), but minus the pretension. The restaurant is a place that feels good; it's a place one wants to be. The food is wonderful, the ambience is amazing, the service is efficient with good personality, and the prices are reasonable, reflecting a sincere self-awareness which makes the restaurant all the more charming. Everything we had to eat was carefully thought out, and displayed a flavor profile which had each item being a perfect representation of what Necio claimed it to be; the lluevos rancheros, for example, were a perfect version of the dish, with the green chile being a respectable tribute to Denver fare. Okay, now I am going to be politically incorrect for just a moment. I will address something we all think about when considering ethnic cuisine, and which is a mark we all think about, but don't always admit out loud (I am using my last name as a pass for permission to say the following)... The vast majority of the clientele present, while my wife and I visited, were obviously excited to be there, and were Latino. The food's audience is largely the cuisine from whom it claims to come; its authenticity is verified. read more

I been here a few other times and it was good. But today.... I got here at 12:30 pm, I'm told it would be a 40 min wait. 55 mins and no text or nada! We decided to walk in to see if we needed to wait more time, so they sat us down ! We sit and wait 15 mins before we get asked what we want to drink . Then ordered food another 10 mins later. Waited a whole 50 mins to get our food! Drinks empty by the time we get our food. It's now 3:30 ! This lunch turned into an event! HORRIBLE SERVICE! And it's only two of us here 3 hours to get lunch!
