    Chips and Salsa
    Nick M.

Super amazing food, chips are thick and great. So is the salsa. But the best part is the service, they treated me amazing and the food came fast.

What a great place! It is on a somewhat rough corner on a rough section of Colfax, but do not let that deter you. Inside is a clean, inviting restaurant with friendly staff and great food! I cannot count how many times I have driven past and am glad I finally went in. I cannot wait to go back and start work on exploring their menu!

I would not recommend this place. The food was not good. It's really close to me, so I was hoping to like it. The margs were fine!

The food here is so authentic and delicious!! Just took my Dad here and he couldn't believe the large portions and amazing service. Highly recommend!!

I have done my fair share of traveling and eating at different restaurants with carne asada tacos. This is by far the best tacos I have ever had. My food also came with the most bomb tortilla chips! They are nice and thick, have the perfect salt, and just the right amount of crisp! I would absolutely recommend this place! The employees were incredible friendly and kind! They checked in my a few times to make sure everything was all good! The hospitality was so generous! I really enjoyed this restaurant and when I come back to Colorado this restaurant will be a must stop for me!

5 stars for the Quesabirria tacos which are not on the menu. You MUST GET THESE. There's 5 in an order and they're around $14. They're amazing. Juicy, flavorful, cheesy. Just perfect. The chips and salsa here are pretty good as well. We tried the smothered burrito but nothing compared to the birria tacos. Come. here. For. These! You will notice be disappointed. Service could definitely be quicker but I could tell they were short staffed. We stumbled upon this place after searching for a food truck but so happy we stumbled upon this!

As a guy from New Jersey, I don't know Mexican food as well as some Westerners. To me, Los Mesones is some of the very best Mexican food I've ever had. The chicken and beef tacos are absolutely incredible and the smothered burritos? To die for. Los Mesones is authentic as you can get. If you're visiting Denver and you want to try real Mexican food, Los Mesones is an incredible bet.

queso-birria (lamb) tacos not on the menu but sooo tasty
    Brooke W.

This was on the way to our destination and we were hungry! We asked our waitress what she liked and she mentioned if we wanted tacos she liked the asada and carnitas. We asked about the birria (lamb) and she thought we meant tacos, which we were lucky she did because she told us about the queso-birria tacos, which you will see pictured . There are 5 to an order with melted cheese on top and it comes with soup and a vinegary salsa, limes, onion and cilantro. It was plenty for the two of us.. I'm glad we said we would start with one order and then order more.. we didn't need to.. It isn't on the menu, so lucky for you I'm giving you the scoop. If you like braised/stewed lamb-order these you will not be disappointed!!

We discovered this small restaurant is a short walk from our house a few weeks after we moved in and have been coming regularly ever since. Whenever we don't feel like cooking but don't know what takeout we want, this is our default spot. Between the authenticity of the Mexican food and reasonable prices you can't go wrong. The asada tacos are our absolute favorite, and then we either get the chicken, carne molida, or barbacoa tacos in addition. During one of our visits my boyfriend decided to try the chicken quesadilla supreme and now that has become a part of his regular order ever since. Pickup is always easy, the tacos are usually done within 10-15 mins of when we call and service is very friendly.

Looking at taco places, I went with something close by to our location and found this hidden gem. Nestled away on a small street corner of Clay Street and 32nd Ave. parking can be scarce, but I'm sure with the right time and a little bit of walking you will find and manage your way here. Outside the restaurant, they have a small seating area which now is winter too cold to enjoy, but I'm sure in the spring and summer and fall time is super enjoyable. The inside, though a little bit tiny and no cozier than going to your mom's house and expecting a family Filled living room/Kitchen. We went down and greeted by three smiling faces. We already looked at the photos online and knew we want tacos so opted with the chicken tacos and Carne Asada taco plates. The tacos place option came with 5 tacos with up to 2 choices of meats the ratio would be 2:3 .. freshly mashed guacamole made in front of you or freshly sliced avocado.. In the pictures I listed you will find each chicken and Carne Asada options. Both slow pictures missing two tacos because we devoured them as soon as we got into the truck. Their street tacos are heavenly! Chicken option was all chicken breast super juicy grilled to perfection five tacos on a plate another two tacos missing because my husband and I devoured it. This plate came we asked it with the guacamole option instead of fresh avocado. The carne asada was just FULL of flavor and the fresh avocado slices with green tomatillo salsa SLAPPED.. the tortillas are super soft and tears from how fresh the flour tortillas were!! Definitely a place to sit and eat there to enjoy the hot food. I'm originally from SoCal and a heavily populated Latinos with amazing tacos and food.. Taqueria La Familia passed the bar high!! We can't wait to come back and try other options and will update pictures and review then!

I was vaguely familiar with Chef Richard Sandoval due to his brief appearance on Top Chef, but didn't know too much about his cuisine. The brunch has a really fun and original idea in that you can order bottomless small plates for $42 per person or bottomless food and drinks for $59 in person, with a two-hour limit. I would have loved to try that, but we had a lot of plans that day so opted for the à la carte menu. I chose a mimosa and my friend chose a michelada. for our drinks We shared the ceviche. I ordered the chicken tinga enchiladas, while my friend ordered the fish tacos. We shared all of the food. The ceviche was excellent, flavorful and fresh. I enjoyed the enchiladas. The portion was generous. I wasn't too fond of the tacos. There was nothing wrong with them, aside from the fact that I don't like breaded fish, but they just didn't have a ton of flavor. I will say service started strong, but then fell off a bit. Our server and food runner were friendly, but it was hard to get extra utensils when we needed them.
