    Seafood chow fun

It had been a long absence since visiting Nee House. We had run a few errands and wanted to order something to go. After reviewing the menu, we chose chicken with vegetables, no onions. Staff are not the friendliest but as long as they get the order correct and the food is decent, no problem. She took my order and told me 5 minutes for the order. They kept their word about a fast order. The inside of the place is clean. Tables are set and waiting for customers. It was a good amount of take out with a separate container of white rice. The food was still warm. I added tofu to the dish. The food is somewhat bland and nothing a bit of Sriracha and soy sauce wouldn't help. The chicken is very tender white meat. Lot of good veggies; carrots, water chestnuts, cabbage, snow peas & broccoli. Tasty with the added spices. Decent prices. There was plenty for two and we will have more tomorrow. Shared parking lot,

I ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls, house fried rice, and a Weight Watchers-friendly chicken and shrimp with vegetables, and everything was delicious. I've been here many times and the food is always good, but this was actually my first time dining in instead of getting takeout. The restaurant itself is decent and comfortable inside, service was good, and the food definitely lived up to what I'm used to. I'll probably continue to get it to go most of the time, but it was nice dining in. Good food, consistent quality, and definitely a place I'll keep coming back to!

One of the better Cantonese-style Chinese restaurants in Arizona! Parking was pretty easy since it has a big parking lot shared with Smart & Finals and several other businesses Service was pretty friendly and attentive. It was pretty small inside so there wasn't much seating Pricing was reasonable ($15-20+/dishes) Got the Fried Pork with Salt Pepper ($15.49) It was very delicious, not too greasy or too salty. Very flavorful and not too overly fried. Pretty big portion. This was 4/5 House Fried Rice ($13.99) was nothing special.. pretty bland and not much ingredients. Wish it was more flavorful and has more meat or seafood in it. Wouldn't recommend. This was 2/5 Shaking Fillet Mignon Brochette ($17.99) was very yummy. Very tender and not too salty. Wish there were more pieces since it was on the pricier side. This was 4/5 Would recommend and return

Haven't dined here since the original owners opened the doors and wanted to come back for years. While it is now under new management, I wanted to see if they were still as good as when they opened and if it was still a great place to eat at when on this side of town. My friends and I came for dinner and we ordered several dishes: Braised green beans, Salt & Pepper Pork chops, Orange chicken and Kowloon crab. Everything was good, cooked right and tasted ok. The Kowloon crab was a little different that I am familiar with, but still work the trek. The waitress and staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back and try other items from their menu.

Wow this place is gooooood. The crab was so fresh and the stir fry xo sauce was flaaaavor! Poor it over steam rice perfect pairing. The crab shell was soft and they even crack the shell making it super easy to eat. My kid loved the fried rice. Salt and pepper pork chop was my next favorite, it was full of flavor as well and has a nice crispy crunch to it. Honey walnut shrimp was also spectacular. Sweet, crispy fried with flavorful sweet savory sauce. Definitely would recommend to eat here. To top it off, the service was so friendly and attentive. We all agreed we'd come back to eat, when visiting Phoenix again in the future.

Dinnerware cleaned. No grain, no morsel, left behind. Finger licking good.

I love coming to Nee house. Food tonight and every time I come here is delicious. Food comes out fast and hot. Service is quick and friendly. Food is affordable and a reasonable portion. Tonight, I had the bean curd Szechwan style with a cup of rice. It was so tasty and flavorful. It hit the right spot and was so so comforting. This dish is not too spicy but I love super spicy so I might not be the best judge. It might be hard to tell from the photo but the tofu isn't fried, it's soft. Just in case you were wondering. Hope y'all have the chance to try it.

Been awhile so we went back to eat here again. Still awesome! Great food, friendly staff, perfect ambience. Serene and peaceful. I had the broccoli shrimp and my brother had the Chicken Chow Fun. Both were excellent! We'll definitely come back to eat here.

Coming from the LA/OC area, this place was great! Needed some asian food while visiting Phoenix so I went and tried Nee House. Classic family owned asian restaurant with delicious food! The pecking duck was definitely my #1 favorite! The ambience is very casual as it gets packed during lunch with families. Service is most definitely a classic fast pace type service. They give the menu, your order water/drinks/food, food comes out. So don't expect too much fluff in the service! The food itself is really good and portions are enough for sharing! This makes it great for big parties or families. They do seem to have a smaller staff circle. I did see that people would have to wait until one of the servers finished serving a table to then go and seat the next party. So be prepared for a wait if the servers are serving tables! Overall, this place was an amazing find in Arizona! Amazing food trades for a fast less quality service is definitely an okay trade for me. This is an amazing classic Chinese restaurant!

Nee House Chinese Restaurant Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Nee House Chinese Restaurant

We went a couple days ago and the door was pad locked. Does anyone know if they will reopen?

They're closed for a month on vacation, they usually do this once a year.

What fish is the fish fillet with ginger & green onion?

I don't know which fish, but I have ordered it dozens of times (we have been going to Nee House for years), and it is a delicious dish! Large portion of tender fish fillets, not breaded, lots of ginger and a lovely clean sauce. I highly recommend…

When are you opening for dine in?

There are currently open for dine in.

Does Nee House have Egg Foo Young on their menu?

No, they do not. Funny because I was just there last week and that's exactly what I was looking for. I was disappointed, both with the fact they didn't have egg foo young and with the food in general.

Where things really took a turn was the food. I was so hoping I found a new staple in our walkable restaurants list but the food was mostly disappointing. We liked our fairly standard French onion soup and Caesar salad. The shrimp cocktail were not good at all. Shrimp was tough and mealy. They marinate them with a bunch of herbs. Maybe that caused the unpleasant texture? On top of that, I did not like the herbs used in the marinade. Good shrimp cocktail stands on its own! I should also add that these were $7/each. A week later I had the most amazing shrimp cocktail - tender and sweet and almost double the size for $4/each. I don't mind paying $7. I've paid $13 each for good shrimp cocktail. Just a lot of money to spend on something so disappointing. Our sea bass was also tough. Flavor was okay. The piece was fairly thin - possibly why it was overcooked? For those who love sea bass, I suggest checking it out at SumoMaya or Dominick's. Can't be beat! Sadly, I don't think we'll be back. Too many other excellent options nearby.

A steak place that doesn't know how to cook steak ... And get orders correct…read more With a party of 13, we decided to reserve the private room in the back. At first everything was running smoothly until the food came out. Most everyone got the steaks or some special. Here were the first problems: - Not everyone got steak knives after asking 3 times. - 2 ribeye steaks were overcooked (asked for medium rare and got well done). - 1 fillet steak was still alive when asked for well done. - All plates were made out of metal so it burnt your hand when touching (made an infant cry instantly). - Brussel sprouts were cooked whole, too big to take one bite and was incredibly greasy. - Someone got the wrong salad. - Someone got the wrong vegetables. So that's where the downfall began. I usually don't enjoy complaining but when a restaurant is advertised as being high-end, I expect more, and there was more ... just more issues. We asked for a refry on these steaks. It took them so long that everyone else finished eating already. When they came out, we got more problems: - 1 ribeye didn't have a bone for some reason (but everyone did). - 1 "fillet" steak was actually a ribeye cut covered in sauce to hide it. Here comes the unprofessionalism from the staff. When asked about the ribeye bone, she just said that "they" removed it for you. I'm asking, "Why?" An $85 ribeye should always have the bone. I never asked to take it off. The ignorance continues with the "fillet." I know what a fillet looks like and when asked about the cut, the waitress had the audacity to say, "They flattened the fillet for you..." I'm asking, "Why?" We all knew what a fillet looks like compared to a ribeye. It wasn't a fillet. What professionally trained chef would ever flatten a fillet? How ignorant do you have to be to even say this? The ridiculousness continued with the floor manager coming in, apologizing, gave our first round of drinks for free, 1 steak for free and gave us a business card to contact the general manager. Wait. What? It's a Saturday night, during MLB spring training and the GM isn't around? And you want us to contact them? You want us to do your work for you, to contact the GM? In the end, I'm only frustrated because the steak was $85 and it felt like I could have cooked this better at home. The steak looked like you bought it at Trader Joe's. This whole experience, was not the waitress' fault. She was dealt with a difficult situation because of the back-of-house, the designer of the restaurant and everything else around her. Who is expediting the food? Who is in charge on a Saturday night? Who is the chef? Does this person know the basics of cooking and plating? Who here cares about their food? Who designed the metal plates to be burning hot to guest? I think I found a new nominee for Kitchen Nightmares. If you want to try this place, get the steak well-done if you want medium-rare. That's what I've learned this weekend.

The service was top tier. I wish customer service like this existed everywhere. Hannah was outstanding. She was welcoming, attentive, and helped make our night even more enjoyable. She didn't linger but somehow always knew when to check back on us as soon as we needed something. We're always weary of trying out a new restaurant for the first time but dinner was spectacular. Everything we ordered was so delicious and cooked to delectable perfection. High compliments to the chef! Appetizer: Warm Bread Basket - A must have! The bread was so scrumptious that it doesn't even need the delicious whipped butter. But the butter was so amazing it was hard not to smother every morsel of bread with it. Fantastic appetizer option. Entrees: 1/2lb Dutch Harbor King Crab Legs - Served with perfectly cooked asparagus, potatoes, and the usual side of melted butter. My wife said the butter that the crab is cooked in/served with was so phenomenal that she didn't have the need to dip into the side butter. I chose this restaurant because my wife loves crab legs and these absolutely delivered. The meat was sweet and succulent, and most importantly, they tasted fresh! Filet Mignon (8oz) - Delicious and perfectly seasoned! Exactly cooked how my wife ordered it and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Willow Bend Lamb - I can't rave enough about how exquisite this was. I was worried the chops were going to be too large but the portion size was spot on to my liking. The roasted garlic thyme jus it's served with is rich, savory, and a great compliment to the tender and juicy chop. I would order this again and again. Sides: Parmesan Truffle Fries and Smoked Gouda Tater Tots - It's hard to mess up a potato but somehow Ocean Prime was able to make it even more delicious. The fries had a perfect balance of crisp and tender, and the parmesan truffle flavor was the cherry on top. Wonderful aftertaste and surprisingly pairs well with crab legs. The tots had a perfect crisp exterior and a fluffy inside. The offerings are generous so 1 side would suffice for 2 people. Every bite was scrumptious and a definite recommend for the table. Cocktails: My wife also had the Berries & Bubbles cocktail. Well, it was so yummy that she had 2 of them. I had a sip and although I'm not a vodka fan, I can attest that it was indeed yummy. The dry ice is a nice touch and adds to the beauty and appeal of this drink. The drink is poured at the table (Hannah is clearly a pro at it). It was like a dinner and a show! Dessert: We were offered to choose a dessert on-the-house to celebrate my birthday. We ordered the Warm Butter Cake for the table and a Chocolate Torte to go. Hannah was kind enough to comp both of them for us! The Warm Butter Cake was AMAZING! From the delicious ice cream served on top to the gooey buttery velvety center of the cake with a perfectly crisped edge, it was everything you'd want in a dessert and more. I'm sure it's the star of the dessert menu. I've yet to make it to the torte but I've no doubt I'll be swimming in chocolatey goodness when I do. Lastly, I had flowers delivered to the restaurant to surprise my wife, and I asked if they would please have them set at the table prior to our arrival. They were able to receive the delivery before opening time and were placed perfectly in the middle of our table (booth seating). I'm so grateful for how they accommodated my request and helped me execute a wonderful surprise that gained a beautiful smile from my wife. 10/10 experience. Five stars all across the board. Worth every dollar spent. I highly recommend Ocean Prime for any and all events, or if you're simply just looking for a delicious meal.

Instead, the service was slow and inattentive throughout the meal, which was disappointing given the restaurant's reputation and pricing. My friend and I ordered multiple and I would have ordered more if we didn't have a place to be afterwards. I'm definitely ordering this every single time. The Tuna carpaccio was to die for, I would order this every time! It feels fresh, clean and really represents itself as a seafood place. The menu is heavier on seafood and lighter on fish, which is OK. good assortment of non-water proteins as well. Nice wine list with bottles and glasses at multiple price points. Service was good. Tanner handled a bit of confusion on an oyster order like a pro. A bit more attention would have been nice; clearing plates, filling water, etc. But overall, solid service. Food was interesting. Oysters were fresh tasting and served with several toppers. Not certain I liked the plastic cups and mini wooden ladle, but the flavors were there. Lobster bisque was a bit thick for my taste, but my better half thought it was great. Flavor was rich and satisfying. Last, the lobster and shrimp roll was too deconstructed. The lobster was dumped on top of an uncut croissant. You couldn't really eat it like a roll unless you scraped off the meat, picked up the damp croissant, cut it and then restuffed the lobster and shrimp inside. Too dang much work. While the flavor was good, this is not something I would order again unless they were willing to split in in the kitchen and turn it into a proper lobster and shrimp roll. Would absolutely go again, but you are now warned about the roll.
