I have been coming here on and off for years and they have always done a great job. the place is very clean, they are taking extra precautions due to covid, and they always make time for their customers. I have had different people do my nails- I never request anyone, but most recently I had Jackie and she was amazing. I came in with a photo of each nail a different color in an ombré type effect and she was totally down. she picked out the colors and did an amazing and thorough job, plus she was super nice. I live 20 minutes away from Needham, but one of my friends recommended Needham Day Spa for dip nails. I called in the morning and booked an appointment for 12PM that day with Lisa, the owner and technician my friend recommended. The spa was bright, clean and sanitized, and such a great atmosphere! It didn't smell overwhelmingly of nail polish like some salons do. Lisa came right away and was patient and helpful as I picked out a color. She is so professional and good at what she does; she was meticulous yet efficient and I loved watching the process of how dip nails are done. My natural nails are pretty long, but one nail had broken off and was shorter than the others. Lisa added a faux nail tip to make them all even, and it looks and feels just like my real nails. They don't accept credit cards but they will take Venmo (make sure to double check with your technician). Overall, such a pleasant experience and I LOVE my nails! I received better service here than places near me that charge double the price. Will definitely be coming here from now on. read more

I was recommended by a needham local because I saw how nice her nails always looked so I had the expectation mine would look just as good... wrong. I got a pedicure which was good. (The only reason why I'm giving this 2 stars). I got dip and the woman I had didn't press down on my cuticles or cut them which made my nails look stubby and short. I asked about this and the woman said people have to ask for that and it's an additional $5, which is insane because I had never paid extra for something that is always included when getting a manicure. She also didn't allow the dip to dry so I left without realizing that I had 2 nails that weren't dry. I gave it the time to dry and didn't touch the nails. The dip cost $54 and it 100% was not worth it. This was definitely a let down. read more

I went to NDS on a Friday afternoon. I'd made an appontment for a mani/pedi/brow wax, and when I arrived 20 minutes early I was taken in right away. The pedicure went well except I hate those friggin' massage chairs. Also, and this goes for nail salons everywhere, why don't you do my nails first so that I can let them dry during the pedicure? Right? I should ask next time. I had the standard pedi, so no extended massage or anything, but that's what I expected, so, great. The owner was doing a spa pedicure on a customer next to me, which looked relaxing... until she (the owner) answered her phone and had an extended conversation while she finished the customer's pedi. I have no idea if the customer cared, and it wasn't a deal breaker for me, but if I'd paid for a 'spa' treatment at a 'day spa,' I might expect a more relaxing atmosphere. Manicure went well, I requested that the manicurist (sorry, I forget her name) not cut my cuticles and she complied without trying to twist my arm. She was also a great consultant on color... I wasn't sure what to wear on my nails against a bright red dress for a wedding. We went with OPI Polar Bare (love). After five days and probably 4 showers (showers usually murder my manicures), my nails look great (see pic)! Brow wax was similarly fine, I asked for a trim/clean up and she did what I asked. Total cost $57 + tip. NDS isn't super swank or the best experience I've EVER had, but it's solid and near work and I'll be back. read more

I would give this place negative stars if I could. I went here with my bridal party (the day before my wedding) and such terrible service. To summarize this post: DO NOT GO, AVOID AT ALL COST. I don't even know where to begin.... - When we had first entered, it was nothing but CHAOS. They clearly were not ready for us (even though we were a bit late) and we had a reservation - I had a large group of 9 people and they were STILL taking walk-ins. This meant that the staff was not attentive to my group - We were spread out throughout the salon and were not together - I heard from my group later that when they tried to correct the nail technicians about how they wanted their nails to be done, they were treated with rudeness and were told that they were wrong - As for myself the bride, my nail technician had not asked me how I wanted my nails and just started to trim them. At one point, I had even heard her say "oops" when filing my nails - I had asked for nail art to be done and during the process, I realized that the nail technician could not make circles (looked more like ovals). When I asked her to redo them, she said that she could but it would look the same since my nails were short. - Later, I had found out that some of the nail technicians had told my group that they HAD to pay for their service even though I had told the owner that I was paying for it. One of my bridesmaid had went over to the salon the next day later to confront them of the charges... to only be confronted with such terrible customer service and rudeness. The owner, Lisa, was saying that we had run out on the bill of 2 services. When she had talked to her about her team's poor customer service, Lisa just walked out, said that we were in the wrong, and kept trying to tell us it's our fault because we did not arrive early (when that was never communicated to us that we needed to). Also.... I want to add their level of customer service (if you're not convinced on how poor it is), clearly shows that they have no professionalism. While at the salon, I watched a nail technician make a little girl cry. It's an overwhelming process when it is a packed salon. Instead of helping the overwhelmed girl, the nail technician was so rude to her and was trying to turn her away to get a different customer in her chair. read more

I haven't patronized this Day Spa yet. My review is based entirely on shop appearance and employee courtesy. I stumbled upon it when I confused Highland Place with Highland Terrace. It's not easy to find, tucked in far behind the Walgreens and some other shops across from the Bank of America, but everyone in there was so nice helping me figure out where I needed to be. They wouldn't let me leave until they were sure they'd tried every resource. I was also impressed that they had four customers at 3:00 on a Friday, mainly getting their nails done, and the place looked very clean. I know where I'm getting my next manicure. Lisa is fabulous! She took over Needham Day Spa and moved it to an old home she revamped that has such great character and a great flow you won't be disappointed! Beautiful decor, gorgeous spa pedicure chairs (and several in a row so you can be next to your friends!) this is my new (old) place. Lisa, the owner, is fantastic. She speaks English (and doesn't talk about your behind your back like at other salons) and made me feel welcome, and we were pampered. She did the best job on both the mani and pedi. Cuticles perfectly cut (not bleeding and not left hanging), nails perfectly squared and shaped evenly, top coat is fantastic and dried fast. I had to wear nylons (rare) the next day and my feet were so smooth and slid right down the hose, no snagging. Best part, only $39! This is the basic mani/pedi and it was just great. If you hit up the deluxe or the spa, there are fun things like extra sugar scrubs and masks for your legs and feet. Yummy! OPI, Essie and a bunch of other polish brands are available--but this is BY FAR the biggest color selection I have even seen. As a note, I have frequented Majestic, Highland Nails, and a few others on Highland Ave and some in Wellesley. This is hands-down the best. Best service, most modern, clean and friendly. read more

So.... I've been to this place at least 15 times, and I don't know if I will go back anytime soon. I used to just get manicures and pedicures, and if i receive a gift certificate to there I woulldn't mind going back for another mani/pedi, however, I would never (ever) get another waxing done here. As a result of my waxing experience, I probably will not go back. They've burned me TWO times, and even though I should have learned the first time, I went back again because i didn't know where else to go. After they burned me the second time- I was just pissed off. When I called them to complain about being burned, they said that it was MY FAULT that I got burned. They claimed that I had an allergy, or that maybe my skin was too sensitive and that I should just put some neosporin on it...... ....... Hmmmmm orrrrrr the wax was too f*cking hot!!!!? I felt the wax burn me as soon as it hit my skin. Grrrr makes me mad even thinking about it. They gave me my money back one of the times, but I had to walk around with a burn scar for a week. twice! GRRRRRRRR I really liked Lisa (I believe she's the owner), she has always been extremely nice and friendly, however she does tend to talk on the phone instead of working on what she's supposed to be doing. I can see how it could really bother people that she stops working on your nails to answer the phone. She should either answer phones or do nails, not both at the same time. I do love the two russian ladies that work there, though. I would ask specifically for them ( i forget their names ), but they are nice and thorough. Should you go here, make sure to tell them exactly how you want your nails done, or they will just do a mediocre job... Be specific, and speak up for yourself. I tend to be quiet and let them do whatever just because i only started getting mani/pedis like two years ago. I'm a noob. i had been going there for years. They were punctual for appointments. most of the time the services were variable depending who I had. The last three times I was either left sitting somewhere and received half or no services and most recently the person who was going to give me a pedicure said she didn't normally do nails. I said no problem, I could wait. I was then reprimanded by the owner for not making the right kind of appointment, next time I should be more clear (not sure what's not clear about a mani/pedi) and they were too busy for me. Needless to say, there are lots of options in the area so I'm voting with my un-pedicured feet! read more

I recently brought my toddler in for her first manicure and they made her feel so special and Lisa is magnificent. From the moment I entered, they were very rude to me. The manager was particularly rude as she asked where I got my toes done before. They did such a poor job of the acrylic that as soon as I left, it broke off and then they forced me to pay another five dollars. It was the worst experience being mistreated throughout the entire process of supposedly a relaxing process . They even forgot to give me a massage during the manicure process. They tossed me from person to person making the the entire experience miserable. There was no personal connection.If you want to have a horrible experience, make sure you go there. Have been a regular client for 12 or more years and today's visit was the last straw. While I think the place is clean and comfortable and some of the technicians are good, their customer service leaves much to be desired. I like to make an appointment frequently in advance as I, like many of us, have a schedule to follow. On too many occasions, my appointment has meant little or nothing. Most recently, I was told that I would have to work with another technician rather than the one I was scheduled with because she had another client. Don't mind waiting 5 - 10 minutes, but a half hour with no apology nor any gesture to address the inconvenience is untenable. If you don't want to honor appointments, then don't make them. They are all about the money (check out the new price schedule!) and do not value service or loyal clientele. Need to find another place. They have a lot to learn about professionalism. read more

Went for a powder mani and a pedicure. The people are not very nice. I find this place way too expensive. Powder nails are $57. My nails look good, but I find this very high. Also there are hidden costs, so when you ask the price make sure to ask if there are any extra costs! (most places charge $5 to remove powder, here it is $10). She kept leaving during my pedicure to answer the phone. this made it take way too long, and instead of relaxing and enjoyable, I was frustrated. This spa is nice, clean, and efficient-- even with walk ins. I have been going here for a couple years now, and I have yet to have a bad experience. I recently got a standard pedicure, and the acrylic dip with tips. The pedicure lasted forever and didn't chip, the nail technician was lovely and the chair is very comfortable. The acrylic nails, lasted me 3 weeks, and the only reason why I had them taken off was because they grew out. Not a single nail came off. I have had times where my acrylics were a little bumpy, but I called and they fixed them up. Some services can be a little pricy (like the acrylics) but not crazy especially for the area. But it's worth the spend since, for me, they last a while. read more

I've been getting gel manicures for more than a year at other places, and I've never had this happen! I'm also disappointed that they don't carry OPI gel polish because they said it was too hard to take off. The girl who worked on me spent just as much time on her phone as on my feet and when she did my brows was extremely rough, burned me and I ended up with very uneven and irritated eyebrows. While visiting my parents in the suburbs I wanted to take my mom to get a manicure and pedicure, since she's not very good at treating herself. I picked this one because it was close by, and the Yelp reviewer who actually patronized the services had a good experience. Our experience there, on the other hand, was pretty awful. I called in the morning to see if they could squeeze two of us in for mani-pedis sometime in the afternoon and was told to come at three. When we arrived, they were totally unprepared. I waited about 45 minutes. As a result, both my mom's manicure and pedicure were done before mine even started. And she did such a terrible job on my mom's nails! I could have done better at home-- she didn't even file them. She was also on and off the phone most of the time and was generally pretty rude. My pedicure was totally fine, but my french manicure was very uneven and really messy, I had to take it off when I got home. And I'm not picky about such things. I was trying to help my mom find a regular salon nearby that she could go to occasionally-- it's not this one. Maybe we just had bad luck, but neither of us will ever return. read more

I am very disappointed with my last few visits to needham day spa. I was charged $50 for a gel manicure with two tips on a Thursday, and by Friday two of my nails had chipped and one was broken. I returned Monday With my receipt to have them fixed, and was charged $60 upon leaving. I didn't want to make a big deal of things in front of the other customers, but that's a bunch of crap. I've been going to Needham Day Spa for about 4 years now and it is my go to place to get my nails done. I work in the area so it is very convenient to get to. It is right behind a Sushi place (which is also very good!). The salon looks like it was a converted house now nail salon. It is very clean and the employees are always friendly. I've never had a problem there. I've gone there for manicures, pedicures and french manicures and they've always done a fantastic job. The prices are also very reasonable for the area. Once I went there before my vacation and on my way back home I smudged my pedicure. I told them what had happened and they told me to come back and they would fix it free of charge! I've been here a few times and it's always been eh, I think there prices are higher then the typical salon all for nothing. I decided to write a review after my experience today... first of all I got a pedicure and was rushed, which took her literally 14 minutes. I think I was drying longer then she took. At the time to pay she was extremely rude. I was with myself and two girls, a child I nanny for and her friend and we all got pedicures. As I approached the register she started rambling you pay, you pay me now all rude. I was to pay for the child I Nanny for and myself, as her friend was paying for herself. I handed the woman a AMEX and cash as I was splitting the tab and she just kept saying no - so okay you don't take AMEX, fine. This woman kept changing the prices. She said 28 for you 26 for her then 26 and 25 and 53 all three it was absolutely confusing and frustrating. Mind you the sign in the back room where I got a pedicure said 20, but whatever. As the three of us stood there trying to figure out cost and shuffling threw money and as I gave the woman my tip, because she was the one who did my pedicure. As I was about to turn to the girls and ask who did there pedicure, so that I could tip them, this woman proceeded to borderline shout "oh this is my tip only, only this and no tip for anyone else." Mind u still cash in my hand and trying to sort threw the confusion of the cost to begin with. I was absolutely disgusted in this unprofessional behavior. I just turned to the girls and said let's go. I will never spend my money in this salon, the service and attitude is not worth the price. Mind you as well - I'm all about freedom and being able to speak your native tongue but it shouldn't be done so in front of customers and make them feel uncomfortable as your speaking about them. The two girls were texting each other instead of talking because they felt weird and as if they were talking about them as the employees doing there pedicures kept nodding there heads towards them and speaking there native language rudely. Im not cheap at all when it comes to tipping and truly appreciate the work that goes into giving a pedicure or manicure. I feel like in a line of work like a nail salon more efforts should be put into making a customer feel comfortable and appreciate there business. There are plenty of nail salons worth going to instead. K organic nails across the street from Needham Day Spa is where I will spend my money where they are friendlier and well worth it!!! They put on nails dipped in colored powder wet the area and my nail were the correct colors then the just put top coal on. It never chipped and last d three weeks. They shaved my nails down so much that they are now thin and clear and very fragile. I bought a gel manicure and the woman only put on one coat of nail polish. I had gone to NDS for over three years. Over the years the place has gone down hill rapidly. Depending on which girl you get to do your mani pedi you can have a wonderful experience or you would have been better off doing your own nails. Different girls are working there all the time. They do not use new files, or pumice stones which is not even legal. The nail clippers and instruments they use do not come in the sealed plastic bag to ensure they are sterilize. My eyebrows were waxed the last time I went there, and I couldnt believe what had happened when I looked in the mirror. One was much larger and longer than the other. When I got upset she told me that they were even and I was overreacting. I told the owner I was unhappy and couldnt believe that the girl had done such a terrible job. I was told to let them grow out on their own!!! NDS needs a receptionist so the owner isnt constantly on the phone while doing nails with a client. The ladies there openly gossip about each other and their clients. People do not go to the spa to listen to chit chat and gossip. Once in front of me the owner and the lady doing my nails had an argument about how much it was for an eye brow wax which she had done on me and she wanted to charge me more because she said she spent a lot of time doing them.... eyebrows take all of 10 minutes. They keep the tv on all the time and there is no relaxing music. I got a microdermabrasion facial there and the very next day my face broke out in little white dots... not pimples but fine white dots all over. I called and asked if I could be having a reaction to a chemical they used. I was told that they must have kept me under the steamer too long and many people have called with a similar problem???? Im pretty sure that the women preforming these various treatments are not qualified. I changed spas right away and found another spa in needham across from the high school, such an upgrade you cant compare the two. read more
