My front tooth chipped on Saturday and I got lucky to get in to see Dr. MacKenna the very next Monday. She did a great job! It was my first time when I didn't get emotional and had a minimal anxiety. Her assistant Jazmyn was very nice and carrying, very confident which made me feel at ease. Temporary crown looks and feels great! I had to come back for touch up on the bite, it took a few second literally. Very exited to come back! Surprisingly Thank you very much!

Dr. Maria Moser attempted to do a tooth implant on me. I say 'attempted' because it was botched-…read morethe abutment part was too big. She even said this right out loud, in surprise, as the procedure was getting underway. She went ahead however and tried to put the thing in anyway. As she tightened it into place I almost screamed and fainted; this was far and away the most painful experience I've ever had, in a dentist's office or outside of one. The pain didn't let up and five days later I had her take the abutment and crown back out. She put me on a course of antibiotics to try to stop any infection from the obvious swelling that had begun (see the picture). I rejected her offer to try the whole procedure again, this time with a "tissue punch", and had the botched part redone by a dentist who'd been voted the 'Best in Boston'. Dr. Moser never apologized or expressed remorse and of course never refunded the thousands she charged me and my insurance. I'm currently pursuing legal action against her and filing complaints with the local and state licensing boards.

They take the time to explain everything up front, whether it is necessary or not, and exactly what will be covered by insurance. This is one of the few places I have gone to where I've never felt that they were trying to "up sell" me on anything that I didn't need done. To my surprise, the dentist told me I had TWELVE cavities! I've had maybe ~4 cavities over my entire lifetime, so I was shocked. I was feeling a bit of sensitivity lately, so I took them at their word. I had 8 filled over two appointments (each filling costing about ~$100 out of pocket) -- it was one of the MOST painful dental experiences of my life. My gums were completely lacerated...I struggled to eat for weeks, it was even difficult to speak. I came in for my 3rd appointment to get my last set of fillings done, but then was told that my insurance ran out (I was on a shared plan with my family, and someone else had needed a root canal that year, so our dental was all used up). I told the dentist I'll come back at the start of the year (wasn't that far off) to do the rest of the fillings. Before the start of the new year, I ended up taking a job in another state & moved. As soon as I relocated, I looked up a dentist to complete the 4 remaining fillings. The dentist told me I had ZERO cavities!! They even took this crazy 360-degree x-ray thing to make sure; they said the prior dentist was 100% incorrect. TL;DR - This dentist office is a scam & will physically hurt you, don't go!

First of all, I wasn't sure whether my insurance would cover the dental expenses, the front desk staff carefully reviewed my insurance and explained the coverage breakdown step by step. I've visited four dental offices in the past year, and no one else has ever done this, all of the other front desk I spoke to brushed off these questions and only tried to persuade me into buying more of their services. Second, my hygienist, Samantha, genuinely cares about her patients. She did my cleaning in a super gentle way, and she kept asking me to let her know immediately if I felt any discomfort during the process. Last but not least, Dr. Liu examined my teeth, noticed some bleeding, and suggested a partial deep cleaning only if necessary. This was by far the fairest advice I've received. At other offices, the first recommendation was always a full deep cleaning. Overall, my experience at Beacon Family Dental has been outstanding! Their transparency, professionalism, and genuine concern for patient comfort truly set them apart from other dental offices I've visited. Because they were not sure whether insurance would cover re-cement, they charged me $236 onsite for the full price of re-cement and promised would refund me if the insurance does cover it. A week later I received statement from my insurance showing they did cover most of the re-cement. I waited for another month for the refund but didn't receive any, so I reached out to the dental office. I am attaching their response below. The last message sounded very unprofessional and rude to me. To justify no-refund, they then resubmitted an additional claim for implant maintenance and charged $315. However, they never mentioned this service to me before, not to mention "told you insurance won't cover it". They charged me upfront $236 which was the exact full amount they submitted for re-cement but nothing else. I never requested for or was aware of the "implant maintenance service". It sounded like a makeup thing they came up later to deny the refund. Very disappointed at the staff's dishonesty.

I scheduled fillings specifically around insurance coverage, but when I arrived I was booked for a completely different procedure that my dentist had never explained to me. I then received appointment reminders for visits I never scheduled, and when I called they admitted it was a mistake. I was also told I owed a balance that I had already paid in full (my insurance reimburses me after the fact), and the office could not clearly explain why the charge appeared or why they told me I had already paid. I was then told that they forgot to submit my claim to my insurance. My hygienists were great, but I don't recommend this office if you have anxiety or don't have time to constantly correct scheduling/billing issues yourself.

Not only was every step of the process clearly explained to me, but the entire staff (including Dr. Gupta, his reception staff, and the dental assistants and hygienists), were extraordinarily kind and accommodating. I was very scared and anxious about the work I needed done on my teeth, but those fears were quickly alleviated by the level of care I received. I was also explained in-depth the cost and offered a couple of different payment options before my treatment, which was very helpful. The clean, modern office was very impressive. Dr. Gupta's aptitude for painless anesthesiology and his quick, precise work made a procedure which I feared for years extremely easy to get through. He also took photos of the before/after work, which was personally very interesting to see. They will do everything to keep you paying for more visits…read more Was mislead about when my next appointment was and was screwed out of my 6 month exam because the office staff mislead me about when my next appointment was and what my insurance was covering. They had me go in for an "emergency" that was not even an emergency, and waited until I was already finished with the appointment to tell me that taking a piece of food out of my tooth would count as my visit- leaving out the fact that I was scheduled for a regular checkup the following week. This is not the first time situations like this have happened and the woman who is the office manager has been extremely rude while smirking over these issues. After 5 years at a dentist office I really loved, I feel taken advantage of and screwed out of my regular checkup. Would not recommend this office. I want to be clear - The dental hygienist staff are amazing - they are not part of this bad review. And until this date, I had no negative interactions with this dentist office outside of the office manager making snotty comments such as "only people with money can afford to have teeth."
