What an amazing experience! We had heavy water damage at the top of our chimney and needed it fixed. This was also a huge challenge given the original brick is around 100 years old and no longer made anywhere - so the NC team had great recommendations and worked closely with us on design. Is difficult to exaggerate how pleased I was - and remain - with Neighborhood Chimney Services. I am talking here, about BOTH chimney sweeping and chimney repair. After sweeping the chimney, they installed two stainless steel (heavy gauge) liners. One was for the the gas and the other for the oil furnace. Then, they put a new crown on the chimney itself. Total cost = $3200. However, you must know this. I had another company from Canton come out before them. Honestly, I believe this "other" company has, as their business model, to scare the living daylights out of potential customers. Trust me when I say I have their voicemail. They started barking and making sharp-edged comments like, "This is out of code," and "That's illegal," and "This has got to go," and "This is no good," and bla-bla-bla. By the time he finished his 4 minute voicemail, I was made to feel like I had just committed a Federal crime. And by-the-way, the estimate of this "other" company (not Neighborhood) was $4500. Returning to Neighborhood Chimney Services, firstly, their people, both in the office, as well as the two very professional workers who came and worked their tails off for a full day were as nice as pie. Pie is nice, but did the Neighborhood Chimney Services know what they were doing? The answer is yes - yes - yes. Like many houses, my old two family house was built in the 1930s and to tell you the truth, I'm not even sure that the chimney had EVER been worked on. Finally, one of the nicest features of Neighborhood Chimney Services is that they finance over one year. I gave them $1000 just to show them my heart was in the right place and and starting in one month's time, I have to pay $188 a month for one year. What's not to like about this? And by-the-way, when I say financing, I do not mean with one of those god-awful bank cards where over 12 months, if you miss or are late on a payment, you pay a zillion dollars in interest...you know...like 29% interest! No-no-no. Neighborhood Chimney Services actually does their own in-house financing with zero interest. Reading all this back to myself, this actually sounds like a commercial for Neighborhood Chimney services, but this is all legit. Until two weeks ago, I had never even heard of these folks. But I can tell you this, other chimney repair folks recommend them when they themselves are booked out. I called two different (very reputable) companies in Berlin, both of which were booked out seven weeks. And it turned out that BOTH of the Berlin companies recommended Neighborhood Chimney Services. Okay, I'm going to stop now because I'm going to put you into a coma if I go on any longer. Bottom line, both professionally and workmanship-wise and literally financial-wise. BEYOND EXPECTATIONS. Couldn't be more satisfied with the responsiveness, expertise, attention to detail and professionalism. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Chad solved an ongoing issue that multiple professionals had tried to solve for over a year. After we upgraded our A/C and put a gas insert fireplace in our upstairs fire place (wood burning down stairs) and put a cap on our chimney, we had back draft issue where fumes were periodically accumulating in the house. No one could figure it out including the gas insert company, the A/C guy, the guy who tested our air quality, a different Chimney Service, the roof guy who put the cap on, nor the oil heating company. We tried raising the cap, cleaning the burner and chimney but to no avail. Chad came out and spent a considerable amount of time examining the issue and with determination figured it out and solved the problem. I was also extremely impressed in how they do the initial diagnostics with a camera and a them provide the customer an initial detailed followup. I had my chimney that was in great disrepair restored, and installed liners for my heater and three chimneys, restored one chimney to normal operation and because it would be impossible to bring my other fireplaces up to code (historic home) they installed a wood stove and a pellet stove. Great company and impossible to beat technician! We recently bought a house and discovered that the chimney liner was completely shot right at the beginning of the first heating season. Our technician, Andy Karsen, was really helpful and professional. He explained exactly what was going on with our chimney in a way that we could understand it, and he did a great job of fixing the problems right the first time. Hector came to my new (very old) home that I am restoring and inspected and cleaned my chimney. The home was built in 1920 and I didn't know what condition the chimney was in. He was great! He explained the type of chimney it was and why it had three holes (lol...I am sure there is an official word for it, but I don't know it) and then went down in my basement and explained a few things to me as well!
