Had a great experience in my three visits to Neighbors. My 5 year old suffered an acute and aggressive case of hives and we went up there at 11pm to be greeted and received well by the receptionist who helped us promptly be seen. The nurses were quick to take vitals, assess the situation by observing my son and asking both us parents pertinent questions. Long story short, they had a prescription dose of an oral steroid and Benadryl ready for my son to take before leaving. Now here's where the exceptional part of my experience came in - my son did not sleep much that night due to itching and restlessness. His mother was up with him until 4am until he finally calmed down. I was up at 7 to hit the pharmacy and get his prescription. Wife called and said he's back up and not better, so I picked him up and we visited Neighbors again. Similar to the first time, very quickly seen, they even had our paperwork pulled up to save on redundancy. They reassessed, asked me questions as to what happened after we left up to that moment and came up with an idea to do the injectable steroid, which I agreed. My son handled it like a champ thanks to the nurse administering it. I picked up the prescription, Benadryl, zertec for hives and Pepcid AC (which also has antihistamine properties) at the direction of the Neighbors doctor and nurse staff. Got him all hooked up with meds, did a cool oatmeal bath, coconut oil after - and still my little man was not getting relief. After a couple hours of trying everything us parents could do, we took him back up there just to do a final check before hitting the ER - they were so kind. Despite doing everything by the book (I checked myself) we were all confounded and decided to go to the ER. But not before giving us liquid numbing cream - which hugely helped with the itching. Ultimately we went to the ER and we're just told sometimes these things just need to run their course, they gave us some anti-itching prescription that would make him drowsy but other than that, they said Neighbors did a good job, to which I agree. read more

I brought my daughter to the Neighborhood Emergency Center (Kingwood Drive location) seeking medical assistance for an open wound. After she was evaluated by the provider on duty, the provider declared it a "non‑emergency," seemingly based on information relayed by the front‑desk staff. The individual who identified herself as Tatiana Andrada then demanded a $300 upfront payment before my daughter could receive stitches. To my understanding of EMTALA regulations, patients are not required to pay upfront at the time of service when seeking emergency medical care. I explained that I was unable to pay this amount and that I had not anticipated such a requirement. Despite this, she insisted that I had no choice and stated that I owed the money because I am "not an American citizen." To my knowledge, this is an additional violation and constitutes both discrimination and medical negligence. Her behavior made it painfully clear that my accent and the color of my skin influenced the way I was treated. I am profoundly appalled and astonished that I was denied immediate medical care unless I paid upfront, solely due to my background and appearance. When she realized I could not pay, she attempted to force a payment plan, yet still refused to allow the visit to be billed later, continuing to demand money. When "Tatiana" spoke with my other daughter, she repeated the same misinformation regarding EMTALA and refused to provide her name or the patient‑relations contact information. She stated, "I will give it if they ask for it," and then questioned why my daughter was not physically present. For context, my daughter works in an emergency department herself and is familiar with these laws. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, Tatiana chose to be dismissive and disrespectful toward my family. I want to understand why she felt so comfortable behaving in such an unprofessional, discriminatory, and unlawful manner. This was unequivocally the worst medical experience I have had in all my years here. I sincerely hope she receives proper training and gains the empathy and professionalism required to work in an emergency medical environment, where patients seek immediate care, not judgment or financial intimidation. read more

Come to this emergency clinic if your idea of an emergency is waiting for over an hour just to get your baby's vitals checked. We waited for over one hour, no one even saw us. We immediately knew that they do not care about people here; so, we left. Now that I read the reviews, it seems like it was a good decision. I went in with severe back pain. They said I had uti. I explained that I've never had a uti this severe. I have had kidney infections that caused similar symptoms (severe pain and chills). I asked for an Ultrasound to rule out a kidney infection -I'm over 50 and have had diabetes for 40 yrs. He just dismissed me and said I didn't need an Ultrasound. He sent me home on oral antibiotics and in worse pain than when I came in, after he palpated my back. Do not come here. Yes. It's convenient because you don't have to wait but the care is lacking. read more

This ER center is still at the top of my list for minor emergencies. We went there for the first time 7 years ago and again during Covid times and the 5 star rating still true. Fast check in. Promptly seen, thorough knowledgeable examination and testing on site. A short wait later, we get results and leave with treatment. I loved their bedside manners. Your wait times and experience may be different than mine. I came to Neighbors around midnight Sunday as I was experiencing a severe UTI (I ignored it for over a week) and urgent cares were denying me care because my new insurance won't kick in intill August 1st. I was the only patient in when I visited. I got in at midnight and was already in the back waiting for test results by 12:30. The Nurse and the medical tech were so nice and amazing, the doctor was not. After he told me I needed to see a specialist, I asked for some clarification and he literally cut me off to tell me "stop talking and let me finish" Why speak to a patient who herd upsetting results like that? He told me that he will treat it as a UTI but he's an emergency doctor not a family doctor. Yeah I got my prescription, got to pay the self pay fee of $290 (your results may vary depending on treatment) and I was out the door at 12:45. While I understand the doctor was probably annoyed at me for coming to a minor emergency room, a UTI turning into a kidney infection and possibly having a kidney condition was listed as a reason to visit on their website. I would though visit again if I needed to. I was in and out much quicker then a regular hospital. read more

Last night I took my 8 year old son in for care at Neighbors Kingwood. Dr. Kevin Chiu was so cold, distant and had the most horrible bed side manner I've ever experienced and I have a 24 year career in health care. He looked bothered that we were there; not sure why. It's a public facility right? Aside from his miserable soft skills, he tells me verbally that there is nothing wrong with my son's ankle. I found this odd because I saw something with my own eyes on the xray. When I reviewed the notes from the visit it clearly states a Grade 1 sprain. While this is not cancer, it is also not "nothing" for an 8 year old who I could've sent back to school without pausing to care for it today. It is HARD not to believe that his behavior is rooted in racism but when there is such blatant disregard for the patient, what else might it be? Kevin Chiu needs training on how to handle all patients effectively and in a caring manner. He is TERRIBLE for your business. All other staff were pleasant. It's a shame that the doc can totally ruin a visit. read more

I'm super clumsy, and hit my self in the face really close to my eye. It started bleeding really badly so I ran up to Neighbors as they are close, and I've heard good things about them. I had to get 7 stitches. I was so upset because I was going to Mexico the next day. The nurses and doctor could not have been any sweeter. The doctor talked me through the whole process, and made me feel completely at ease. They even called and checked up on me too! So happy I came here instead of the hospital or any of the other places near by. Literally from the time I walked in and walked out it was less than 45 minutes! I don't recommend this emergency center. Have been here a handful of times. The last incident that made me not want to return was when my daughters earring was stuck inside of her ear (the skin grew over her piercing) and she squirmed slightly when the doctor touched it asking if it hurt. The doctor left the room to talk to the nurse and then the nurse talked to me outside the room saying that they wanted to restrain my daughter because the doctor feared she might get hit. Idk what past experiences this doctor has had but my daughter is the most gentle child in the world. The doctor obviously can't read the room and is highly unprofessional. Mind you my daughter was 10 at the time. More than capable of communicating with words. When I said no that it wasn't necessary the nurse said she'll tell the doctor and see what she says. The doctor said okay BUT if she does continue moving that they were going to restrain her. I felt like it was rude, unnecessary, and inappropriate. I sucked it up so that they could get the earring out. But I was highly offended with the way they handled her little squirm. Ridiculous. read more

I have been here a few times for my daughters and myself in the past and was very happy with the care. This past visit was horrible! I arrived with a fever, chills and sharp chest pain (felt like I had been stabbed in my chest). They tried to send me home (despite having a high WBC count (14,000), a fever, and the sharp pain in my chest). The dr said it was stress, the nurse blamed my symptoms on anxiety or allergies. I demanded a CT of the chest to try to pinpoint the pain...PNEUMONIA. It was PNEUMONIA. The physician came in to tell me and gave me IV antibiotics. Had they sent me home, I would have likely gotten sicker and had to be admitted. The nurse had to stick me 3 times blowing my veins and left a needle on the floor. I felt like I was bothering them. I will never go back. Anxiety and stress doesn't cause fevers, chills, and high WBC count. Come on. read more

They took me in very quickly and the staff was extremely friendly, but the nurses had to stab me in three different spots to draw blood, which seems like a relatively simple process. Both of my arms ached for hours and I had huge bruises, something that has never happened to me even though I've been donating blood for years. The receptionist was rather rude and just sort of stared at me when I said I wasn't feeling well. The doctor didn't really give me a clear diagnosis, saying that this was "the same old stuff" (???) leading me to ask multiple questions about what was actually wrong. He prescribed me 3 different types of medication, none of which actually handled what I was dealing with and one for a completely different symptom than what I had. I probably wouldn't return, since I paid an emergency room copay to experience a lot of sharp pain and frustration, and I don't really feel like any of my issues were actually dealt with. If you're thinking about going here, you're probably better off at the ER or a different clinic. read more

RIPOFF. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I took my 14 month old daughter in on a Monday evening for a stomach flu. In short, we were there for a few hours while they ran a stomach x-ray, gave her an IV, and some nausea medication. I received a bill for $2,221 from the facility and another bill for $750 from the doctor (who spent at most 10 minutes with us). So $3,000 for a few hours in the place. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I was amazed that there is a hospital less than a mile away where I would have had to wait hours and here my son was treated and released within 30 minutes. I've been here three times since they have opened and every time I go I am treated with so much care and compassion. Dr Young spent adequate time with me, answered all of my questions and didn't brush off my symptoms, which I appreciated. When emergencies come up, as they often do, this is my go to place. Only 4 stars due to the overpriced billing, but all free standing/private/minor ERs charge more, that's just part of it. read more

Our insurance paid $5000 of it but we are still left with a huge bill even after negotiating with the billing department. I will not recommend this facility to anyone! i went to the center in ParisTexas and the treatment they provided was very bad and they did not even treat me for what i was telling them i was feeling. Then i got a statement from my insurance on what they charged for basically a standing and sitting blood pressure reading and an asprin. this is the type of business that is causing the health care process in the USA to be overcharged and they should be audited for insurance fraud based on my one and only experience. Took my son in to the Kingwood location to have his finger looked at after he closed it in the truck door. At that visit the doctor took an x-ray of the finger nail/tip of the finger and gave a splint to wear to protect from bumping it - we declined their offer to have his nail punctured to relieve blood pressure. However, a follow up visit a couple days later they did puncture the nail. The total charge for the two visits was $4,007.96!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How on earth can they charge that much money!!!!???? We will never go back and want everyone to know how much they charge! A previous comment asks how they can stay in business and how nice the facility is. When you charge this much money, it doesn't take much to stay in business! read more

Terrible place. I went in for a basic cold and they ordered several expensive tests that were not necessary. They also told me to call back if I didn't feel better in a week and they would give me another prescription. My husband and I took my 2 year old son to this emergency room due to my son's ear bleeding and we wanted to check the damage. Upon arriving here it was very well kept and clean. The staff was nice however very ignorant to the billing portion and insurance portion of claims. I inquired about the cost and billing before my child was seen and was told that they didn't know anything and all they were able to say was that the claim would be handled as if it was in-network because no insurance company was in-network with them. Reluctantly I agreed to have my son seen because he was obviously in pain and upset. Again, the staff was extremely nice and helpful and all they did was look in my son's ear. Due to the dried up blood they were unable to see what they wanted to see and had to squirt water in his ear. After his ear was clean we were told that he had a scratch and he would be ok. That was all and we were relieved. A few weeks later my insurance receives the claim at a whopping $1,925! WHAT?!?!?! $1,925 for water in an ear? My jaw dropped. After processing and "discounts" for being in-network I am responsible for $1,610 of it. THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!!!!! How can they stay in business with this kind of ludicrous charge?I can guarantee you that they will never see my family again and I will warn all of my friends of this place. Please beware. If I could I wouldn't even give it one star. If your a mother stay away from this place. I had such a horrible experience I personally wrote the medical board and told them this place needed to be investigated. First off my son was 1 1/2 yrs old he had a febril seizure. Knowing what I know now after I visited my pedestrian I am aware of it. But at the moment my husband and I were panicking. We ran in and my son had a fever of 104 that came out of no where and the damn lady has the nerve to ask me before anything if I have insurance. Which I did but fast forward a bit and they needed blood to run test after guilting me if I don't what kind of mother would I be. As I held him they pricked one arm over 4 times. Then proceed to try the other I told her stop don't worry about it. They said it was mandatory and poked the other arm 4 more times. As a male nurse held his arm down. They told me he needed to be still. A 1 yr old being still while strangers are running test. I don't think so. And if you think that's bad then they do a catheter they stick it in his privates as he's screaming " there hurting my pee pee!" and walk out likes it nothing. They gave me no options. I later found out that's never the first thing they do. For kids they try many options before leading to sticking it straight in. They didn't give any an options and that was the last straw. I was in tears. They also didn't allow my mother in law in the room. It was against policy. Yeah like they are truly following policy here. I would stand every day with a sign if I could to let people know not to waste your time unless you want to see your loved ones practically tortured. I finally received a letter saying there were going to look into this practice but nothing that I'm aware of has changed. What we went through I would never wish it upon my worse enemy. My wife took our son to the Kingwood location for the flu. She asked if they took my blue cross insurance and was told they did. I received 2 bills, one for $950 and one for $3100. I called and was told the doctor accepts the insurance but not the facility. The insurance paid $2000 my portion is $4000. $4000 not counting what the insurance paid for the flu. My husband was seen here and diagnosed with pneumonia. We were seen by a doctor in less than 5 minutes and everything was done quickly and efficiently. The staff is knowledgeable, compassionate, and was great about explaining the diagnostic tests and interpreting the results. The rooms are extremely nice and clean. And my insurance paid for 80% which has long been the standard for our insurance's emergency care. Educate yourself regarding your insurance's emergency room policies prior to checking in and there should be no surprises. read more

I just took my son here a few weeks ago for a non-emergency but it was 3am and I wanted him checked out, and this place was open. I was under the impression it was a "minor ER" place but apparently that is not the case. my first impression was that everyone on staff was very nice and the facilities themselves are also really, really nice. the kid's room is great too. it even has a tv to distract upset little ones. so like I said, I just wanted my son checked out due to an incident earlier that day, so they took his temp, listened to his heart/lungs, looked in his throat and ears, and took his heart rate. that is all, no treatment or anything. just like a previous poster, my insurance received the charges at $1925! I was shocked as well, seeing as it was nothing more than a well visit for my child. my responsibility ended up being $384. not as much as the previous person, but still outrageous for what they did. I called the billing offices to get a breakdown of these charges and I was told one charge was $1575 for the "emergency room" and the other charge was $350 for a "physician." so I said "this is just a fixed rate?" and he said "yes." so basically you can go in there for a basic checkup with no treatment or you can go in literally on the verge of death and be charged the same thing...which is ridiculous!! if you have amazing insurance, maybe it would be worth it to you because it is very nice. if not, then I would skip this place because the charges are outrageous. read more
