I just got off the phone with them asking if they had the brand-new, hotter than hot marc by marc jacobs mouse flats - ladies you know what I mean - and they snapped at me telling me that they don't "Carry that brand" in a snooty way like I asked if they had cozy-corner esque stuff. I told them. yes, i did check your website. I already talked to someone online about it. Do you have them. They finally did and they just told me to check the Paramus store (like um, no) and hung up. They look at you like you have twelve heads unless you're grabbing all the Chanel shoes and your black amex to charge it. Go to Nordstroms, better shoes, better service. Bloomies is great. If I weren't an associate here, I would most likely never come here (well, with the exception of the Cafe on the 3rd floor). The sales staff here sucks! Very arrogant people and as mentioned in my review of The Mall at Short Hills, if you're not white, or if you're wearing anything less than Juicy Couture, no one will acknowledge your existance. They seem annoyed when you ask for assitance. The only redeeming thing about Neiman Marcus is the cafe, I love the food there. The strawberry butter is DEE-LISH! I am a big fan of this Neiman Marcus store for the single fact that one of the nicest employees I have ever encountered works at the David Yurman counter. I bought a David Yurman ring from him a few years back and his service was incredible back then - extremely friendly and wildly persuasive - ended up selling me the next size up (bigger gem and setting)! It was a big price jump but he assured me it was worth it, and if I wasn't happy with it I could always bring it back to him and exchange it for the smaller ring. It was easily one of the best purchases I've made, I adore the ring! I returned to the store a few months ago to ask for a new cleaning cloth for the ring. Sure enough, my favorite salesman was working at the Yurman counter and gave me a new cloth! He even gave me another brand cloth, not even the Yurman one, because he said this other brand was much better for cleaning! Leaving this Neiman Marcus is always great as you are bombarded with perfume from the perfume and cosmetics department. Fabulous! read more

Love this place! It has become my new favorite store, this location in particular. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. I got my birthday shoes, Louboutins of course and a pair of Chanel earrings. The shoe sales people were very nice, friendly and patient. I was greeted when I stepped foot on the floor. I tried on a few pairs before I decided on the classic patent Pigalle. The shoe sa gave me great advice and it didn't seem like he just wanted a sale, he actually cared that I was happy and confident, especially since this was for a special occasion. The sales people in Chanel were ahhh but once the sa figured out I was there to buy and not just look, he became much more friendly even offering a follow up consultation and further assistance. The store is very beautiful and easy to maneuver, it wasn't overly crowded, thats not their type of clientele, so I've been told and I didn't find myself wandering around searching for someone to help me. It was a good experience that's made me a customer for life now. read more

So far my experiences with the SA's here have been great. Whether it'd be browsing for something or returning items I bought online, the SA's are always friendly and helpful. Suzanne from the men's sunglasses department is amazing. She congratulated me on my engagement after spotting my ring. We had a fun conversation, and she even gave me an extra red case for my Ray Ban sunglasses. Adam from the shoe department is always very helpful. The ladies from the bag department are always really nice and there to help if I have any questions. The only bad service I've experienced was from this Russian woman in the women's sunglasses department. While we were browsing, she just coldly stared at us without asking if we needed help or anything. My favorite part about NM is when they offer the gift cards with purchase promos. You can sometimes get designer items at up to 30% off! Too bad it's only online and they don't have it at the stores =[. read more

My review is only for the Neiman Marcus cafe. Came here since I have a $25 perk card and can be applied to the cafe. So, I brought my family here, kids and all. Glad there was a Kids menu and they do serve pizza even though not mentioned on the menu but the kids were pleased with pasta and the frozen yogurt dessert. They felt they were on vacation since the cafe offers the aura of a hotel type restaurant despite we live less than 5 min away. I love the petite cups of consomme for everyone and it looks like our kids were sipping lattes when it's actually soup. The bread and flavored butters were delicious. My crab cake entree was also delicious and an entree like this for lunch does make my lunch feel a bit more special. I recommend their signature Iced Tea ---I would come here just for that or take it to go. The staff here is friendly and have apologized for not getting the food sooner to us since the place got really busy during lunchtime. I was surprised to see so many people come here on a Saturday afternoon. It's definitely on the "older" crowd side but I did see one other table with a child but it's the mom who is shopping and bringing her daughter. Overall, pricey lunch for four, hitting $75 but the place was nice and in some way quiet and relaxing. read more

This is for the NM Cafe. I went once during the lunch rush, so understandably busy. However, the waiter I was promised never showed up. After telling the hostess, she came over with pen and pad to take my order. I waited longer than all of the other tables to get their food, and was not talked to until I prompted the manager. This review makes the Cafe sound less than impressive, but I write it because the manager was sincere in his apology. I know what it's like to work in a restaurant and mistakes happen. Kitchens get backed up. For that I give the service 4/5 stars. The selection of food looked great on paper, but from what I saw they looked like they did not look as appetizing. Regardless, I'd put the NM cafe as a good place to try if you're trying to grab a bite at Short Hills, as most of the other restaurants will be backed up during meal times on weekends. read more

I try never to write bad reviews but my experience today was beyond awful... this is for the cafe: I work nearby and have a short lunch break so I tried to call to put my order in so I could spend my break eating and not waiting on my food... I called for thirty minutes on and off and no answer.. I figured they must be busy so I walk over and there are literally three people at the bar and maybe one table of people... this is not even the worst part.. as I'm trying to pay the cashier picks up her cell phone and starts talking to someone on her phone!! She gave me zero total, no time frame, and zero customer service!! As someone working in retail I can't believe a "high end" department stores would allow this treatment of their customers to happen. read more

As a long time customer at NM, I have watched this store go down hill for the past 4 years. The horrendous customer service is the main issue. I have had many negative experiences in this store and as a result complained to the Executive offices. However, I am always told that the staff is spoken with, trained and bad service will be rectified. Yet the same poor service, or lack there of, continues. Most recently, I was shopping on the 3rd floor which is the high end designer clothing floor. I walked the 3rd floor for 15 minutes and could not find a sales associate to open a dressing room. There was not one person on the floor for customers or staff. I asked a Chanel sales person to help. She walked the entire floor looking for someone to help me. The sales associate she found, was leaning against a wall on her cell phone. Oblivious to customers. I was trying on a 1700$ Dolce and Gabbana blouse. The blouse fit perfectly. I went to the actual boutique in the mall to purchase rather than buy at NM. The boutique did not have the blouse in my size as it is sold out. Because I will not purchase from NM due to poor service and horrible attitude, I will not get the blouse. Weeks before, I was in the store with my friend who needed help with an exchange after an on-line purchase. We walked the 3rd floor for over 25 minutes while a woman and gentleman from the store leaned against the counter talking. When I approached for help, I was given a dirty look for approaching and looked up and down. I was then asked " Do you girls need help?". I told the Sales Associate to never call us girls as we are grown middle age women. She then asked if she did something wrong and I told her yes she did. She did not provide service by ignoring us and then was condescending by calling grown women "girls". We walked away. As we were walking to the escalators, the two were laughing and making rude faces in the direction of my friend and I. My friend went to customer service returned the items purchased and we went about our day. 2900$ returned to NM. The items returned were then purchased in the brand's boutique located within the mall. It is too bad because there are really good folks in Creed, La Mer, and in handbags. The poor service by others impacts the good. As I said, I will not purchase in this store unless it is an absolute must. Every brand in this store has a boutique in the greater NYC area that gives professional service. Spend your money at the boutiques or online where you are treated with respect and professionally. read more

Lovely store. My review is service related. I went in to purchase and old favorite and try something new. The ladies at the main fragrance counter were quite cold. Not sure if I looked like the "type" to just linger and not purchase anything? I ventured away and stumbled upon my favorite in a different area, at which point a much warmer young woman walked me over to fragrance to grab my desired size. I could see AND hear the two fragrance ladies discussing the fact that the commission should have been theirs. How unprofessional! I purchased with the pleasant young woman and then asked for a sample of something I was looking to try - of course being redirected back to fragrance. The fragrance counter women flat out told me no - as there wasn't enough left in the bottle? I lingered JUST to see how this would play out; low and behold, a gentlemen associate walks up, and makes a sample of the SAME fragrance for a customer. I then ask HIM for a sample, and he gladly obliges, ONLY to be reprimanded in my face by the fragrance counter ladies who came scurrying back from gossiping in a corner to say LOUDLY "I told her NO" Somehow there wasn't enough my sample, but there was enough for two!? What poor taste! I just spent $300 between fragrance and makeup and asked to sample a $425 Creed that I was planning to purchase in a few days - Train your staff not to be so petty and biased. Utterly terrible experience, outside of the lovely young woman from Florida and the bubbly Asian gentlemen who actually provided good service. read more

Used to like NM and shopped both online and in store but I didn't know the customer service could go down to such a horrible level until today. Trying to return a gift and then started experiencing the worst customer service I've ever had in any store of any kind. And twice! The first time the phone call went to the right department after transferring for about 15 min then a snooty rep talked to me as briefly as she could. It's as if I was a big inconvenience to her and she was rushing to do something more important than taking care of my call. The funniest thing was she didn't even ask me if I need to have the return credited to my friend who bought this gift or give her my address to be mailed a store gift card until I asked her. And the excuse she gave at that time was " we don't directly refund the purchaser to avoid hurting the person's feelings". Excuse me? So you will just take the return and start reselling the product in the store and neither my friend or I receive anything for it?! Where is the logic, where is the business rationale? The second time of the call there was no "You are welcome/Not a problem" after I said "thank you for your help" and the rep hanged up the second she finished talking. Apart from the rudeness, the impression the customer service of NM left me was if you wanna return something you gotta be prepared to ask them ALL the questions you have to get all the information you need cuz if you don't ask they don't tell. They don't care a bit whether you would be able to finish the return or not. What exactly is the point of having CUSTOMER SERVICE in a store/mall! I have much better service at Blooming/Nordstrom/Macy/etc as they listen to and answer all my questions carefully and thoroughly and provide all the information I need I don't have to worry about anything. I'm shocked to see such a big difference among stores. Besides you gotta be prepared to be startled by the way they talk and they become extremely impatient when you ask them the same thing again to verify the information. My friend said maybe I was RETURNING things hence the treatment. Is that a good explanation for such a so called "high-end" department store? I'm done with NM. read more

A long time customer, but today I had a terrible experience. I had purchased a pair of shoes for my girlfriend and found out they were damaged, so we went in to see if it could be repaired. Then the SA informed me that she would just exchange them so she told us to wait so she can grab another pair. She comes back to tell us that they no longer have her size, so then she convinced my girlfriend to try on the same shoe in another color so my girlfriend did and she really likes them so she said we could exchange then. We go over to the cash register and the sales associate can't find the receipt so now she tells me she can't exchange them. So she now suggest we go ahead and just purchase the new pair and go and see if we can get the other shoe fixed or just keep them the way they are. I was extremely angry and my girlfriend was so disappointed!!! Now I had to buy the other shoe and was stuck with a pair of 800$ shoes that came damaged are you serious!!!! As a man I went ahead and bought the new pairs now I'm down 1600$ wow what a rip off. The sales associate plaid me they all play games just to get another sale. I never experienced such grimy customer service I expected better from them. The sales associate put me in a very uncomfortable situation and didn't really seem to understand what she did wrong. Well at any other store they would have apologized and exchange them for the other color since it was her idea in the first place instead of putting me on the spot in front of my girl basically giving me no option but to purchase the same shoe twice. She didn't even apologize for what she did!!!!! Walked in with a damaged shoe walked out with two of the same pairs of shoes the only thing she did to was make me pay for another pair. My personal favorite department store at the Mall at Short Hills, with a little bit of everything. The cafe on the 4th floor is one of the best places to have lunch in the mall. The best Neiman Marcus in Tri-State area. They usually carry all the exclusive stuff that Garden State Plaza doesn't like Tom Ford Cosmetics and a larger selection of shoes. Staff has always been helpful and never snobby, something you can experience sometimes at their GSP location. Just wish it was a bit closer. GSP is about 10 minutes from my house but I usually take the 30 minute drive here due to their better service and selection. Plus this mall is never as packed and rowdy as GSP. read more

The restaurant here is my favorite place to have lunch when I come home. I always order the quesadilla, but I love the vegetarian wrap, the southwest chicken wrap and the crab cakes. The wait staff is so nice, they recognize my mom and myself when we show up. The food is cooked and prepared to perfection and it comes out in a timely manner. The place is always crowded, so that's a good sign. And of course, if there is a wait, just go shopping for a little bit to kill the time. read more

This review is for their Cafe. I've been coming here for ages and this place is always a go to of mine for some lunch before or after some shopping. We came on Saturday during prime lunch time and surprisingly we didn't have to wait too long. We usually have a long wait. My favorite part of the meal is the popovers + strawberry butter that we get. I love the strawberry butter and it's like crack to me. It tastes so good with the popovers. I recommend coming here just for this! You also get a small cup of consume which is good as well. I find the service here to be good. I never had any issues and the servers here are also very attentive and nice. For our latest meal - we got their chicken pailard which is a bread chicken on top of a bed of couscous with some tomato sauce. The dish was awesome and I recommend it! We also tried their turkey melt ciabetta and that was good too although it wasn't hot when it got to us. I suspect it sat waiting while the chicken dish was being cooked. They have a new thing where they have a calamari appetizer and that was okay for $12. The calamari rings are super tiny. We also tried their herb cauliflower soup and that was just okay. The bowl you are given is super tiny so I don't recommend getting their soup. We complimented our lunch with some NM Spiced Iced Tea and that was good! I think the menu that we got was out dated with prices since we were charged $4.50 instead of $4 for the spiced iced. We also got a NM Chocolate Chip cookie for dessert and they've raised the prices on these cookies =( It used to be $3 and it is now $4. They are also not freshly made since there was a sticker on it that said made in Dallas (where their headquarters are). All in all, we had a good lunch. Their lunches never fail me and I'll be back the next time I'm at Short Hills! Oh and they used to give out these chocolate covered peppermint sticks, but they replaced them with these chocolate minty squares. read more

Unlike a lot of other big department stores with sales associates that work on commission, the sales associates at Neiman Marcus Short Hills make sure you get exactly what you want, but I have never had anyone try to push me to buy anything or treat me any differently when I am only browsing (which is rare in a big department store). I felt extremely disrespected tonight after a visit to the shoe department. Although the selection is like heaven for a shoe lover, the service is closer to being down below. After finally catching the attention of an employee, I was told that the pair of shoes I wanted would need to be ordered, as there were none left in the store. They were expensive Manolo's and I merely exclaimed (more to myself than anyone else): "Oh, I wish I could try them on first!" At that remark, the salesman turned on his heel and walked away. Little did he know that I was fully prepared to buy them sight unseen. His rude behavior lost him a sale. The only time I go to neiman marcus is for handbag shopping or when I get those great coupons in the mail for free dining. The service is decent but not nice enough. I love to eat at the neiman cafe. The space is tiny (ur able to listen to ur neighbors convo when its busy) but their food is good. They always offer chicken consomme in the cute tea cup with their monkey bread.
