GO TO SAKS!! Don't waste your time here. Horrible customer service!! I went upstairs to the women's shoe department because I had a couple shoes in mind that I planned on purchasing. I waited over 10 minutes for someone to ask me if I needed help. Four sales associates were sitting on the couch all on their phones. So I went up to one of them and asked where a shoe was and all she did was point and went back to her phone. When I went to Saks, I immediately got assisted and purchased the shoes I was looking for. I will not be returning to Neiman Marcus, at least at the Somerset location. I also called the manager and left a voicemail and never got a call back. read more

My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary soon and decided to stop in to look for gifts. We started in the men's shoe department where we were greeted by Larry. Larry was incredibly attentive and kind while not being pushy. He sat with us while my husband tried on the shoes and was not at all put out when he needed to try different sizes. He guided us toward the proper purchase! If this was a "Larry" review and not a Neiman Marcus Somerset review, I'd have given it 5 stars. However... before we had decided on my husbands shoes we told Larry we would think about it and he gave us his card. My husband and I went upstairs to the women's shoe department and looked around. There were two employees chatting in the corner, the woman was sitting on the couch and the man was standing next to her and talking. They were on their phones like it was social hour. The man kind of said hello, but didn't ask if I needed anything. When I found a pair of shoes I was interested in I felt like I was totally interrupting their conversation when I asked if I was able to try them on. The man looked at me, then looked at the female employee, and back at me again. "Sure. I can get that." And then he turned to walk away. Before he was able to make it to the back room, a customer who came after us approached him with a return. He handled it for her and brought her out a receipt before he brought my shoes. He goes back into the back, gets my shoes and brings them out. I begin to try them on and he walks away. I walk around a bit, I stare at them in the mirror for several minutes. He's talking to a different coworker on the other side of the room. Not once did he ask how they fit or check in with me. I could not have been bothering this guy any more than I was, simply by existing. I decided to ask Larry to come up and help me with my purchase. Now generally I would never. I've been in retail and I've been in the service industry and I would never want to take a commission opportunity away from someone. I'm not asking you to kiss my ass by any means. Seriously, please don't. But if I'm spending thousands of dollars, I'm at least hoping you can PRETEND you don't hate me. He cut in as he saw Larry helping me. I told him I just didn't like the way I was treated by him and that Larry was helping us downstairs. He said "I mean I got the shoes for you, but okay." I'm not going to speak about all of the employees in the women's shoe department at Neiman Marcus Somerset, but I can say for certain that the man and the woman I had seen when I got there are lazy. Please get off your phones and don't make me feel uncomfortable if I need assistance. It surprised me to see this level of customer service at Neiman, maybe they should work at Famous Footwear or Payless instead. read more

I am beyond than disappointed with the service, I think the service at this kind of a store is extremely poor! My mother bought me a dress for my birthday and I came in to return and exchange it for something else after 33 days and they said "oh sorry it's past 30 days we can't take this back" I was so shocked, I almost feel like they change return policy however and whenever they want! I came in there in March thinking that it's 60 day policy but not anymore beginning of February they changed the return policy! I got this dress with return label because it was shipped to my moms house, but we didn't have the actual receipt with the explanation that the return policy is now days and not 60 days!!! I asked to speak to the manager "Maria" she was extremely rude and zero help! She put me down because my dress was only $600 and she said "I can't help you even the customers with 10k who wants to return something and we can't take it back after 30 days". I didn't ask her about the other customers I don't care to know how much they spend! I asked her what can I do and she said " I don't care what you do with it now, I can't help you" super rude! Stay away from this store and find somewhere else to shop, like Saks they have the best return policy and best customer service ever! read more

I love Neiman's! This is my fav spot to buy cosmetics, shoes, sunglasses and handbags. The store could be better, but this is Michigan, so whatever. Barbara in handbags is AMAZING. Very kind, very cool, very stylish- you'd be crazy not to wait for her assistance. I find some of the best furs here, both real and faux if real isn't yo thang. The shoe dept is a-okay but could be a bit better. There is a nice selection though, and it works for retail therapy purposes. Neiman's carries lots of Elizabeth and James, so that's a plus. I think you will love it here, even if all you are doing is lusting. read more

I purchased a quilt and two pillow shams from Neiman Marcus online and when the items arrived the two shams did not match, so I called Neiman Marcus expecting an exchange because the fabric on the shams did not match, but instead Neiman Marcus told me to buy them again and return the shams that I just received. The shams were on back order for more than a month and they still would not process the new order without payment, but I had already paid for the shams that were miss-matched why would I have to buy them again? Buyer beware of Neiman Marcus because if something goes wrong with your order or the product is damaged you will have to buy it again no exchange or replacement without new PAYMENT to Neiman Marcus. Neiman Marcus does not care about its customers only how much money they can take from their customers. read more

The only department I went in was the shoes and my experience was less than pleasant. I've been in there before just to look because I can't afford to buy my own Louboutins, but this time I was going to actually pick one out as a gift for myself. I can't speak for other employees and stores but I was treated as if I was wasting their time. Other people were there to try on shoes and no one asked me if I needed help but helped others who got there after me. I felt like I didn't belong because of how I was treated and almost felt discriminated against because I'm only a teenager and wasn't carrying a Louis Vuitton bag. I never used to shop at Neimans because I felt the sales associates were pretentious and rude, but Vicki Gorman in handbags proved me wrong. She was sweet, knowledgable and didn't pressure me into any purchases. She was nice enough to lend me her phone when mine died to call my bank when they shut off my card (typical! Lol). She wished me a happy birthday and gave me a hug, which I needed! I couldn't recommend shopping with her more, and I will continue to buy my bags from her! Thanks for all your help Vicki! read more

Love all the brands that Neiman Marcus sells but like the previous reviews mentioned they used to only except Neiman Marcus credit cards & gift cards, cash, and check. I read online that they have started to except major credit cards & since I have visa I wanted to make sure before I made an hour drive to the store just to findout they don't. So I called the store in Troy and the lady I talked to was very sweet, didn't rush me to get off the phone like most stores do, and she confirmed that Neiman Marcus does in fact accept Visa credit cards now! read more

Since writing my previous review in February, I have been back a few times and have received exceptional service. You have to go see my girl at the Tom Ford counter (I am so sorry I can't remember her name but she is the best- shorter, brunette, long hair), Ahlam and Nina in beauty and fragrance, Dan in handbags, and Nick in shoes. Dont usually post "reviews" but its not everyday that you get service that goes above and beyond. I was recently traveling and the airline severely messed up my luggage and its contents (ps. never fly spirit no matter what!!). So I took my Tumi roller bag in to see what they could do for me . I was expecting them to say nothing and me being forced to buy another bag, I was way off. They replaced my bag on the spot and basically held my hand in replacing all my clothes that were also damaged. I would like everyone to know how hard many of the staff members worked in helping me over the 2 hours i was in the store. And to put a cherry on top of an already excellent experience, a week later I got a call from my sales person asking if everything was holding up well, I can honestly say I will go back there as soon as possible to show my appreciation. read more

Price with standing, since well everything costs you a arm and a leg obviously if you come here. lol But id just like to comment on the staff, sales reps, sales associates whatever you want to call them. I can say every time ive come here everyone has always been super friendly and I know many by name. You could say thats because they are trying to make a sale, and maybe so, but its still a fact in my personal experience every time ive come here everyone has been really good to me. Eddie, Claudia, Chad, Tina, Kathleen, Sandy, Leon, Veronica everyone ive ever spoken to has been super friendly to me. So for that I gotta give them 5 stars. I always have great service at Niemen's, I usually purchase from the Lancôme counter, ask for Dyan she is amazing. She knows exactly what I need and is not a high pressure salesperson. I usually make an appointment to see Dyan, but when she is not available ask for Annette she does an amazing job as well. I think the problem that most people have is that they are put off by the by the merchandise in the store since it is high end, I have found that if you are courteous and nice to the staff that they are super nice in response. If you have not had a good experience in the past, try to give it another chance. I used to be nervous going into the store but when you find great staff it is defiantly worth the trip. I was at Macy's a month ago and the lady knew that I needed service but ignored me and was talking to a co worker. Needless to say she did not make a sale, and this is not the first time it has happened. What I love about Neiman's is that when you find a great person to work with they really know what looks best on you, it is worth it to have you styled correctly because you are a walking advertisement. :) read more

My brother bought me a set of Kiehl's face wash, lotion, and shaving cream a while ago which I really liked. I ran out so I went to Neiman's and found what I needed. Nobody came over to help me but there were two women standing a couple of counters over carrying on a conversation but they were the first two I saw so I went over to pay. The woman who "helped" me was rude and condescending. I didn't realize that they didn't accept debit card. She acted like she couldn't comprehend why I would not know that they would only take cash, check or Neiman Marcus card. The other woman had the audacity to chime in and tell me that I should walk over to Starbucks and get the money out of the ATM. Needless to say I walked right out of there and on to Nordstrom where they sold the same exact product but with much better service and they accepted my debit card. I am not a person to go out of my way to write a bad review, but I am honestly disgusted. This company is a complete joke. In fact, they don't even deserve one star. I walked up to the fragrance counter and asked if they had anything new for men. So the lady shows me around and I walk out of there with a bottle of perfume. So I get home and my wife says this is a women's perfume. I said to her no problem, just go back there tomorrow and exchange it for a different one. No big deal right? So she goes to the store to exchange it and the lady who helped me Suzan tells her the plastic is off on the outside of the box and its not saleable. Therefore, our return policy is that your not able to return it. My wife says, I don't want any money back we just want to exchange it. She says we cant exchange it either that's our return policy and suggests to maybe give it to someone as a gift. Not that I care for the $300 dollars or I wouldn't give it away as a gift but I didn't walk into the store to buy a gift for someone else and I was not aware of your return policy on fragrances. Like, who are you anyways to tell me to give it away as a gift? How about you make your customer happy exchange the bottle for me and use the bottle without plastic as a demo? So anyways, I call the store spoke with Suzan and her attitude until I finally had enough. We weren't getting anywhere and so she gets her manager Erica on the phone. Erica was no help and was rude as well. She told me Rene the manager would call me the next day and its her decision. Well the next day came and I got a phone call I didn't catch the name so I thought it was Rene the person who they told me would call me. She wasn't rude but wasn't very helpful either just went on to say this is our policy. I said to her your Rene and your the store manager and you wouldn't care to lose a customer over a bottle of perfume? She said I am the assistant manager I am not Rene. You people told me the only person who can help would be Rene and I didn't like the fact that someone else called my phone not willing to help me when they cant make a decision anyway. So this morning, I called to speak with Rene and she was polite but her reasons for not returning is that she has to be consistent. Well you guys are very consistent in taking advantage of your customers lol. This was overall the worst experience I have ever come across. How about you make your policy visible to the customer or change your BS policy. I had the perfume for a day not a year and the lady who sold it to me remembers me and did not give me a receipt. Not only is the customer service way off but from this experience I feel like they care more about the plastic on their product then the customer and I will take my business to Saks and Nordstrom where I have never had a problem. read more

I come here because i have their credit card. I remember not even that long ago when i came in to buy something, since they did not accept debit/credit cards i seriously had to go buy a giftcard at concierge at the price and tax of my purchase in order to get it so thank God they started accepting cards, jeez. I do browse the clothes here and there but i mostly come for beauty products or fragrance. Woman at Tom Ford beauty is very sweet and you can have a conversation with her like two normal people. I have a huge knowledge of all the beauty brands and their products so everytime i go there i already know what i need so i don't like how some of the sales associates act about the products. Like you couldn't possibly know. Ive in the past (not here) had a salesperson show me a brands supposed "newest fragrance" and i had to laugh because it was more like 5 years old, lol. Just make sure you do know what youre buying because for example the Sisley lipstick i bought was probably 60 dollars so you'd think it has to be good. I really liked the color. I tried it out, it dried my lips out soo bad and i read the ingredients and sure enough found the culprit: antifreeze, took it right back. When youre beauty shopping make sure you know what you should NOT have in it because a lot of these luxury brands are not where they should be ingredient-wise. read more

I went out to lunch for my daughters 16 birthday to the Neiman Marcus Cafe. I have always remembered in the past that the food there was very good and high quality for the price being paid. I was very disappointed with my dining experience there and it was not worth the money. Neiman Marcus's famous pop-overs were burnt, my food was also over salted and burnt with black all on the crust, and the waiter kept patrolling our table. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone and we are not planning on coming back any time soon. NOT worth the money. read more
