This is a very cool place located next to Trader Joe's across the street from 2nd and PCH mall. We got some samples and ginger shots which were very potent. I rarely give second chances to businesses that I give 1 star to, but after visiting two different Nekter Juice Bars last year in the Lone Star State, I felt I had to give this location a second chance when all the stars aligned late last year. I was in the area and wanted to stop by 2nd and PCH to see how things changed since the last time I was there. I was originally planning to go to the Traffic Circle location, but suddenly remembered there was this location on the other side of PCH. I'm a part of Nekter's rewards program, and I got an email saying that my points would have expired real soon. I had just enough points to redeem a $3 small smoothie. The small smoothie is 16 oz, and if I wanted to get it for free, I would have had to spend just as many dollars plus twice as many cents to do so. I'm not going to do that just for $3 savings, so I chose to get my $3 smoothie here. When I arrived on Friday after lunch, there were a couple of girls in line, who were having quite the conversation with the cashier. Luckily, I didn't have to wait that long, and it did give me additional time to decide which smoothie I wanted. When it was my turn to order, the cashier greeted me, and I asked if there was any smoothie that I couldn't get using my reward. She simply mentioned that as long as it was offered in the "Small" size, it would work. I asked about Coffee Kickstart since it was early afternoon, a time when I start to feel drowsy and need that extra kick of caffeine to get me through the day. At first, the cashier said she'd only recommend it for the flavor, and then I was trying to look for other options that would give me that boost I needed. She eventually said that the Coffee Kickstart would be a good choice for that, and so I chose the Coffee Kickstart. Understandably, they did not have the Aloha Smoothie on their menu, but I'm sure if I asked, they would have been as confused as you are if you are still reading this review. She then asked me if I wanted whey or pea protein. Whey is a dairy base, but pea is vegan. As much as I love saying "no way!", I had to say "yes way" to whey lol. It took a few minutes for her to prepare my drink with a glove in one hand, but not the other. After I got my drink, I grabbed a straw from the pickup counter and headed back to my car. While the Coffee Kickstart did give me that boost to get me through the rest of that afternoon, I was disappointed that it didn't have the consistency of a smoothie until I reached the bottom half of the cup. The first half was pretty watered down, and it felt like I was drinking a regular iced coffee. However, it tasted more like a smoothie afterwards, but too little too late I guess. I had just finished the smoothie by the time I got back home. Was the smoothie bad? No, but it's not something I would get again, even if I were looking for that extra caffeine kick. I probably should have gone with the Health Nut or the PB Mocha instead, but even so, with how watered down my drinks have been from here, who knows how watery those other protein smoothies would be? My experience here was definitely better than 1 star, so I'll give 1 more star to my original rating, but that's it, unfortunately. Unless all the *other* stars magically align again, I probably won't be back here, especially since it's in an area I'm not in frequently, and I *still* don't see a Yelp check-in offer. read more

I live very close to this Nektar location. Every time I am in the mood for an acaii bowl or just a bowl of good fresh fruit(Like the immunity) I come here. This location is tucked away in this very busy plaza but there is always parking nearby. I haven't ever had a negative experience here and they always ensure my order is correct. I love the chia pudding seed! I will order it as an extra topping on any cup I get. I have also had some smoothies a long time ago but my go to is the Acai banana berry. Add some agave too. I would've preferred more sweetness as it was actually kinda bland. Dragon Fruit Bowl Dragon fruit, banana, pineapple, coconut flakes, and coconut water blended as the base and topped with hempseed granola, coconut flakes, strawberry, banana, and pineapple. I LOVE smoothie bowls so I definitely loved this one. It had a good amount of topping-to-base ratio. Love that I can customize my smoothie orders. I loved the "chocolate dream" but they stopped offering it. However, they're gracious about making a smoothie close to that: *nut milk *cacao nibs *dark chocolate powder *dates *frozen blue berries *agave nectar (but I pass on this) *protein powder (or cashews, if available) Now they put peanut butter on the sides of the 24oz cup. I just had the worst experience at this location. While waiting on my bowl, 2 young ladies were behind the counter, 1 making my bowl and the other doing other things. My son (11) and I sat at the table quietly while waiting, no other customers were around. The 2 young ladies loudly engaged in inappropriate conversation/gossip that included speaking ill of others and using ALOT of profanity: bi**ch, f**k, etc! Once my bowl was done I shared with the young lady who prepared my bowl that they probably should not curse with customers around. She apologized, which I believed to be sincere. As I walked away the other young lady spoke in a different tone, lots of attitude, and asked what I said. I calmly repeated myself and added as a staff they should use more respectful language when customers and kids are around to which the first girl said she understood and apologized again, however the other girl responded with, "well I don't work here." Her tone was sharp and unapologetic. At this point I was about to step out the door so I turned back around and said, "well, when you are behind the counter touching food/ingredients you are representing the company as a staff would." Her response with a nasty face and a lot of attitude was "well my parents own this place." I simply said "that should not make it ok to have this entitled attitude" and walked out the door. In all of this she walked from the back of the counter area more toward the front of the counter in a very confrontational way while the other young lady moved toward the back and mouthed another apology. It was such a poor example of respect, especially with my son there watching. I will never be back. read more

I recently visited Necter here in LB near trader Joe to get some smoothie. I've been to their other location all over. While I was waiting for my drink I noticed some flies hovering the strawberry syrup. I ask the employee if that was my drink that he is putting the strawberry syrup and told him that a fly was taking a swim in that container. I am not sure if that is a one off but I feel if you are paying close to $12 for a smoothie now a days we should at least get a clean one and not let anything that could possibly make you sick. I hate those smoothies that are too chunky or too sweet. This was a perfectly balanced and well rounded smoothie! Here's why: WHAT WE ORDERED Mango Delight Smoothie: * As my boyfriend describes it, "Tastes like an actual mango but without the inconvenience of the mango fibers or strands in between my teeth." It's naturally sweet but it's satiating rather than the type of sweetness that induces hunger later on. Regular size costs $9.50, or 10.20 after tax (I think), so that's the only downside. But it's arguably worth it for the quality. Agave Compostable Straws: * Ok this is such an awesome little perk! I was curious about their straws being bumpy inside but it's because they're made from agave and they're compostable. How cool?? I even asked where I can get them online for myself at home and the manager or owner gave me some for free!! How amazingly sweet? I'm 100% coming back now; their generosity is unmatched. Overall, it's tasty and we're coming back for another. So sad. I've written rave reviews of this location three times! This location used to be the gold standard and I've visited a lot of Nekter stores! I stopped by today and was surprised to experience something so different. There was no one greeting or taking orders. I was ignored until I asked them about my phone order. They messed up someone's order ahead of me and didn't apologize (she was clearly annoyed). Three other people continuously asked them about their orders. I watched these two staff members work like molasses while muttering to each other and giggling-- and then one would look up on occasion and just say, "we're working as fast as we can" which was insincere and not true from my time waiting and watching them. A third staff made more of an effort but then she disappeared to the back. Those two seemed very young, maybe it was thief first day but it wasn't a great experience. There needs to be a manager there. It definitely makes me think twice about returning since there are a lot of options for their products in the area. read more

We got the Dragon Fruit Bowl and Acai Mango Bowl. We love smoothies, so these acai bowls were very refreshing! It's perfect for a hot day or if you want a light meal. I have been coming here for years when i'm in the area. I love the shopping center it is located in. Sometimes there is a long line and/or long wait for drinks to be ready. When this is the case, I always order my drink or bowl, then run next door to Trader Joes for a few items. My favorite menu item is the berry acai bowl. I'm a regular at this location and generally have never had any issues with customer service or my order but today I placed a mobile order set for 12:30 and when I mentioned I was picking up the order, the young women immediately had an attitude and was rude, assuming my order was the one she was working on which it wasn't. Delicious Nekter juice!! I was craving a smoothie and though of this place. It is conveniently located in a nice shopping plaza where there are plenty of shops so I was able to run some errands while I enjoyed a delicious smoothie. I order their Tropical cooler and my BF got their Buzz. The cooler was very refreshing although the banana was kind of overpowering but it was very filling. The Buzz juice was super refreshing and I really enjoyed the strong ginger kick after taste. It pretty much tasted like carrot juice packed with ginger. There were some mixed reviews but I decided to give it a try. They were offering a $52 special for a one day cleanse. I ended up going with the Advance cleanse. I usually juice my own fruits and vegetables so my palate is used to the taste of greens and other bitter not so sweet juices. The juices tasted fresh to me. No complaints. Came here with my friend for breakfy because I was 100% craving a smoothie (I KNEW what I wanted to eat which is a first). Definitely did not get a smoothie, I got the pitaya bowl instead (10/10 would order again). He got an açaí bowl, not exactly sure which one since there's a few on their menu but there were lots of goji berries on it. It was like crazy busy but for sure people there enjoying whatever they ordered. The employees were nice, greeted us when we arrived and said goodbye when we left. I'm pretttty sure they were nice to my friend when he got the bowls when they were ready. We sat inside for a bit but the blender noise was a bit much, luckily there's tons of tables and chairs outside. I really enjoyed my bowl, I think he enjoyed mine too (he always eats my food haha). The bowl was super light and refreshing, I loved how they gave you a lot of coconut and they were nice big pieces. Definitely needed the extra granola, but I LOVE granola. First time juicer here. My coworkers and I just did the 1-day cleanse and I felt the same (just hungrier). With that being said, I did have the piece of mind that the 1-day did cleanse my body from the inside out, literally. LOL! The 1-day cleanse consisted of 6-16.9 bottles of juice/veggie blend. Drink one every 2 hours. I chose to do it on non-softball game night since I didn't want to feel like crap and try to hit, catch and run around bases. Not too bad though, the cleanse didn't taste good, but then again, it wasn't horrible either. The $50 price tag is a bit much but I hear that it's a lot easier to have someone at Nekter juice up the 15 lbs of fruits/veggies for you rather than doing it yourself. My carnivore side was pissed, but it wouldn't hurt to cleanse ever so often. Glad I did it. read more

I ran 5 miles last Saturday morning and felt like having a juice. I saw this juice bar as I was driving past and thought 'Why the hell not'? As I walked in, I was greeted with the familiar smell of fresh pressed juices. Mmm!!! As I pored over the menu, one thing stood out- their cleanses. I was intrigued by this and thought I'd ask about it after the line died down. I ordered my juice which was the Greenie with no ice. It was soooo yummy! I'd take a bath in that thing! It was very celery-y-ish and you can also taste the spinach as well. Bomb. When the line died down, I asked about their cleanses. I was glad that they offer information about them rather than you just paying money and getting the bottles and off you go. They give you a brochure on two types of cleanses- the classic and advanced. It tell you what to do before, during, and after the cleanse. Each cleanse has 6 bottles that have different flavors. You can choose to cleanse for 1,2,3,or 5 days. They are currently in the process of revamping their premium cleanse so that is not offered as of yet. I really need to go back as this juice has me hooked. Apparently their bowls are just balls awesome. I can't wait to try their Tropical Cooler and their Popeye's Acai.
