They refused to even redo their melted mess. Would never go back. Avoid at all cost unless you want a bunch of melted slushy. Tru bowl is one of my favorite acai spots, however this location was one of the worst i have ever experienced from beginning to end. Came on a sunday and stepping through the door, workers already seem to not want to talk to you. They neither responded to us nor asked us any questions or even a small greeting, just took our direct food order. If workers hate their job they should find something new instead of the service industry. When taking my topping order I asked for more seeds because there were only like 5 pieces on my bowl, and then she proceeded to tell me its an extra dollar for every scoop of toppings?? A dollar for 5 extra small seeds when it supposed to be an unlimited toppings bar?? I understand if its one of the premium toppings that is upcharged/ordered on the side like their sea moss, but for 5 small seeds? I had to ask if she was joking. Reading past reviews it seems terrible service is common at this location and most likely won't change. Recommending this location to anyone is a joke. read more

Tru Bowl Superfood in Long Beach is located off PCH at the corner of the shopping center. This açaí bowl spot has pre-determined bowls and build your own bowls. You order your bowl at the register then they'll make it for you. I wish it was going down the line like Subway so I can see the toppings as they're putting it on but you have to decide ahead of time. The açaí was decent but I wasn't wow'd with deliciousness. Lots of parking, easy to find. Upon entering I was greeted by Dolores, very friendly and upbeat. Asked if we had any questions and of course I did being this was all new to me. I wasn't aware of what half the topping were but she let me know samples were ok.if I'd like to try something just to let her know. We looked over the menu and finally made our decision. I got the Buttah Lova: Peanut butter scoop, acai, cacao espresso chia pudding, cocoa chia granola, strawberry, banana, blueberry, cacao nibs, almonds, hemp seeds, peanut butter drizzle, cacao drizzle, toasted coconut peanut butter crumble...but I replaced the strawberry and blueberry with extra banana. My wife got the Ez-TRŪ: Our signature bowl, acai, cold oats, og chia pudding, hemp granola, strawberry, banana, blueberry, almonds, hemp hearts, pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, coconut, almond butter, pink salt, date honey... Both of which were very good, filling and satisfying. The I side was relaxed and chill, music playing and just a nice atmosphere all around. I've been here a few times already, and the service was always top-notch and friendly. They also have a large selection of toppings to go with a solid base, including less common tropical fruits--mango and kiwi fruit. The mango was a bit sour though. Peanut powder was another topping that I have not seen anywhere else. There are a few seats inside the store, and it's clean and the decor tasteful. To truly enjoy the bowl, you have to eat it fresh without putting a lid on it, which generally smash the beautiful topping into a mush. Who would want to wait that long for watery strawberry where you can not taste lemonade and an açaí where you can't even taste açaí but only the toppings. Both of these orders were large and $26. I love Tru! It was my hyperfixation while I was in college. I enjoyed that toppings were unlimited and that you get a decent amount of base and topping options. However, it seems like things have changed as they're charging $1 for blue spirulina powder now. IMO that's kind of a lot! I enjoy their smoothies a lot! My go-to is the Cali Vibe. Often times I order it with the chia seed pudding topping but they were messing up my order so often (forgetting to add it, blending it into the drink instead of putting it at the bottom, etc.) that i stopped ordering the topping. They recently(?) added latte options and I decided to try their Moon Matcha Latte. Honestly 0/10, I didn't like it at all :-( It was really bitter and the taste of the matcha wasn't really present. The staff recommended we try the new strawberry smoothie. We were both extremely shocked at how the smoothie tasted. It did not taste good at all. It was extremely sweet and almost artificial tasting. As you can see from the pictures we did not finish it and I am still disgusted. I definitely do not recommend. Pretty solid acai bowls and I love the ability to customize. I've been here twice already and plan to come back again. Atmosphere: Clean space with a few tables and seats inside. I've come during the weekend a random times so it's never been too busy and I've been able to eat in. Food: Have mainly come here for the bowls. The size options are small, medium and large. With the small, you can choose up to three bases, and with the medium and large you can choose up to five bases. I've tried the acai, the blue majik, and the coconut. All are pretty solid and have their own distinct flavors. They have a thicker, smoothie-like consistency. Once you choose your bases and they make the bowl with them, you get to choose your granola, fruit, dry toppings and sauces. They have a wide variety to choose from so it's pretty cool (and can be overwhelming) to have a ton of options. All the toppings were pretty fresh and I had no complaints about what I chose. Some issues I ran into were that some bases were out by the time we got there, but it's nothing to really write home about. Service: Friendly. The first time we went they were attentive and helped out immediately, and the second time we went they were a little slower to get to us (they were messing with the music and chatting a bit).
