I love their juices and smoothies, but this was the first time trying a wellness shot. As a rewards member I received a complimentary one for my birthday gift. I chose the turmeric apple. The cashier was friendly and pleasant. My shot came up at the counter fairly quickly. She asked if I wanted cayenne or black pepper with it, and though I know that's a healthy way to drink it, I passed on those spices. The shot was delicious, chilled, with a little sweetness from the apple and a little of the bitterness from the turmeric. I felt my body warming immediately! When I spoke to one employee in the past week, they informed me it was taken off a while back because of no oranges....or no orange juice? This employee was very nice! Really disappointed with the lack of flavor of the açaí. It tasted water down. The fruit on the bowl was fresh. Blueberries and bananas were the only positive part of the bowl. I've been going to Nekter for years. Every time I go to Nekter I usually order the berry bowl without bananas. I'm not a huge fan of bananas. Nektar usually blend their açaí base with bananas. I had mine blended with just the berries. I think that option caused the base to be very thin and watery. I was not thrilled with my order but since I opted out of the banana base they may have caused the bowl to be more on the soupy side. I must say the fruit is always so fresh at nektar. The service and ambiance is always great when I visit nektar. The place is always clean and the to-go food and drinks are always organized. I will definitely continue to visit nektar even though I recently found other locations (not nektar) that were closer to me to purchase my açaí bowls. read more

I've been here several times and honestly, I can make what I'm ordering myself, but for lack of time I've been going here. I order the same thing. Today was no different. I order a small parfait and I let them know ahead that I don't get it with the granola, just Greek yogurt for the base. Anyways, the guy who took my order today, asked what I would like and I told him the parfait. I told him no on the granola and that I just wanted toppings. I'm already aware that they're extra and I'm fine with that. He begins to tell me that there's an additional cost for the extra toppings and I remind him that I'm fine with that. Just add my toppings. If I'm correct he may have been slightly irritated with my presence, I don't know, but I detected something. Anyways, I get my parfait, I head to the car, start eating and immediately notice there are no coconut flakes, like I ordered. I go back in and no one's really at the counter. The guy comes out and I tell him about the coconut flakes. He gives me a container. Fine. I go back to the car to finish enjoying my parfait and get all the way to the bottom before I realize there are also no blueberries as ordered. So I go back in there, again no one at the counter and I wait about 3 minutes then yell "hello", to let him know the blueberries were also missing. After seeing some of my health numbers deteriorate during this pandemic, I realized I needed to make some changes to my eating habits. While brainstorming ways to do that, I had suddenly remembered seeing a Yelp friend post a review of a Nekter Juice Bar where she was encouraged to download the app and register for their rewards program to earn a free 16 oz drink/smoothie. Knowing that there was a Nekter in Long Beach by the traffic circle, I decided to check it out for myself. After browsing Nekter's website www.nekterjuicebar.com, I noticed that was indeed true. If I provided my email address and downloaded their app, I could earn a reward for a free 16 oz drink/smoothie as a welcome to the Nekter family! I could have redeemed the reward anytime within the next two weeks, but I chose to use it the same day. As previously mentioned, Nekter in Long Beach is located by the traffic circle. It's in the same plaza as Chipotle, Halal Guys, Vons, Planet Fitness, Baskin Robbins, and a few others, so parking definitely shouldn't be an issue. I arrived on a Saturday late afternoon at the same time as another customer. We were the only two customers inside at the time, and since I needed time to look at the menu, I let the other customer order first. As I looked at the menu, I saw that the Functional Smoothies were 50 cents more than Superfood Smoothies and the Fresh Juices. Because my health numbers were getting worse, the Health Nut, a Functional Smoothie, caught my eye. I asked the cashier if the 16 oz free drink/smoothie could be a Functional Smoothie, and she answered affirmatively. I also asked if I could redeem the Yelp check-in offer of a free ginger wellness shot. However, she did not think both could be done in the same transaction, so I just settled for the Health Nut smoothie, which consists of peanut butter, banana, dates, housemade cashew milk, vanilla protein, and agave nectar. You can substitute the peanut butter for almond butter for $1 more, but I stuck with peanut butter. Next, the cashier asked if I wanted Vanilla Whey Protein or Vanilla Pea Protein. I wasn't familiar with these proteins, but she did mention that pea protein was plant-based, so I went with that. The wait wasn't too long. Maybe about 3-5 minutes I'd say? And that was with the first customer ordering a bowl and another drink; the staff member who handed him his order also offered a paper bag. When I got my smoothie, I thought it looked like a milkshake, but it sure didn't taste like one! I wasn't exactly a fan of how it tasted. The smoothie was incredibly thick, and the straw was pretty thin, so you can imagine how much I struggled with each sip! It was easier to drink as the smoothie got warmer, but I left it in my fridge for the next three days. In addition, I could taste the individual dates, which I'm not sure if I was supposed to? Overall, my taste buds thought the Health Nut was "just alright." On my next visit, I ordered a Cold Brew Protein, another Functional Smoothie, and I liked that one better than the Health Nut. A Cold Brew Protein smoothie consists of cold brew coffee, banana, vanilla protein, housemade cashew milk, and agave nectar. I don't remember how my mood was around the time I ordered that smoothie, but I remember that with every sip I took, I felt better knowing that I was drinking something that was good for my body. If you've been used to milkshakes, milk tea, and other drinks that may have a ton of sugar, you'll notice the taste difference because the drinks at Nekter are filled with antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients that are necessary for your body to function properly. Anyways, I almost gave Nekter 3 stars, but I liked the Cold Brew Protein well enough to give it the 4th star. On that same visit, I had a reward for a free wellness shot, and I chose elderberry. The elderberry shot came in a small cup, but I needed two gulps to finish it. It sure packed a punch, and it sure came in handy at a time when I was feeling kind of drowsy and needed that extra jolt to get me through the afternoon. Nekter might not have the best tasting drinks, but at least they are healthier than In-N-Out milkshakes! It's good to know that there's an option for healthy drinks and bowls, and I could get points for every purchase I make! However, the drinks seem pretty pricey for the size, and I don't want to fall into the habit of being too healthy. Or a better way to put it, I don't want to splurge too much on the drinks not knowing how much of a benefit it will really have on my health. Only time will tell I guess! read more

So I brought my dad here today for Veterans Day for him to try smoothie . I know it's a freebie for him but I also did purchase a smoothie for myself . The customer service here was not pleasant at all it's as if they didn't want give the smoothie to him even though the website says the offer it for the Vets . I was in disbelief how they treated him . One of the ladies even got on the phone to call and make sure all he have to show was ID and then made a comment to the other lady that was making the smoothie if all that was for us because it looked like too much. She wasn't aware I purchased one as well she went back to double check . I think it will be hard to comeback after this although I love their smoothies and ambiance usually . I did not like the attitude and disrespect my father got here today . I really hope they work on their customer service and treat everyone with respect whether they are paying or not . read more

Came here 20 minutes before closing, and literally as we step foot in the door "are you ready to order?" I said no I need a minute. We finally order our bowls, and once we received them we sat down inside to eat them. The same girl who took our order said "we close in 10 minutes so can you..." and before she can finish her sentence her coworker behind her shook her head and took over and said "so we're just letting you know". Like what she about to ask us to leave? Not even a second after that someone else walked in to order and they told her they're closed for the night. If you close at 8 you serve till 8. It's your job to serve and clean up after closing if someone comes in. Just thought that was unprofessional and kinda of awkward. They get your order to you pretty fast, and their rewards program offers a free drink after your first purchase which is really nice. FIRST OF ALL, I'm only putting 1 Star because I have to put something OR ELSE they'd get nothing. I've frequented this Nektar many times and have always had a good experience/service. TODAY on the other hand was TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!! I visited this location earlier in the day with my family and my card was left behind in the card machine. Once it dawned on me I lost my card I called them, they told me they had it so I was able to pick it up. By end of day, I was checking my account and noticed FOUR CHARGES to my account from them that were not my doing. When I called to inquire about this I was told by an employee that they would call the owner and we could talk when I got there. When I arrived I was told by the employee that they do not have access to refund and that the owner said to give them copies of my bank statements via email so she could review it. Absolutely NOT! Mind you, one of the FOUR charges which was the last charge was refunded, prolly when they realized the card was still in the machine. But if you can't refund, why was I refunded already for one charge. When I requested to speak with the owner, she was called by one of the employees on her cell. When I explained everything, she told me I was responsible for my card and when I expressed my card was wrongfully charged and I am absolutely not responsible for that, she then said, well my product was used/taken by someone else (since someone still received an item) even though the charges were fraudulent and I expressed my frustration about this however she went on to say, she's a small business owner, so basically she was not going to refund me for the fraudulent charges. Sadly, the employee that was speaking to me (good customer service on her part) expressed to my husband that If we were given anything most likely it would be store credit BUT then they would end up having that taken from their checks. Hannah is the sweetest!!! I never had Nekter before. When we came to the store, she was dealing with an extra rude customer (the customer even got cranky with us, yeahhh lol). Hannah was fantastic!! She was very professional, yet it was one of the customers that even if you are breathing they are mad. She was fantastic!!!! Then she helped us, as if nothing happened!!! This is moreso about the app. I've never had an issue with anyone who works there (attitude). I can only imagine if they were rude it's because they're stressed out. If you're coming here in the morning, expect to wait 30min for your smoothie even if you're ordering it online. I was told my smoothie would take another 5 min and it ended up being another 15 and I had to remind them of my order. I don't mind wait it but I have to work. Please change the estimated wait times for certain times of the day. All could be resolved if we had more accurate wait times by giving the workers a little more wiggle room...or maybe hiring more staff. I went to this place a couple of weeks ago, I was actually doing laundry at the nearby laundry mat and decided to come here with my fiancée while we waited for our clothes to finish in the dryer. We ordered an açaí bowl and a smoothie. While waiting we had an encountered with a drunken man who was claiming to be God and questioning why I "hated men" despite me never even uttering a word...his comment was due to the fact that we are two women in a relationship. My fiancée felt so uncomfortable, and the staff called the owners to come out, they did and they kicked the guy out of the establishment, they apologize for the whole thing (eventhough it was not their fault). I do appreciate their quick action and them making sure we were ok. This is why I love Long Beach, there is always people ready to step up for others in situations like this one. All in all, the açaí bowl was pretty delicious, the smoothie however does need a little more flavor as it seems like there was too much ice in it and watered down the flavor. Nekter is one of my go-to favorite places for fresh juices, smoothies, acai bowls, and even healthy ice cream. I was so happy when this location opened as it is more convenient to places I frequent. I have been here several times, even on grand opening day and whatever I order is always good. The only thing is the wait time here, especially when there are no other customers is quite long.
