Needed a work truck towed to our regular mechanic for an issue. Called 6 other nearby towing companies and they either didn't have the necessary equipment to haul the box truck or couldn't be bothered. Nelcon said "where is it and can we come now?" Within 20, maybe 30 minutes the truck arrived. I explained to the driver what we thought the issue was. He asked if he could take a look at it before hooking up. What we all thought was the starter turned out to be a loose connection on the battery. Driver fixed it on the spot and saved us a tow and time off the road that the truck would have needed to get fixed. We were back up and running within 30 minutes. It's hard to find companies that don't take advantage of situations just to make a buck. The driver and the company understand the struggles of the everyday worker and small businesses. Six years ago, I was rescued by them and the repairs seemed reasonable. I gave them a good review. TWO years ago, my brakes went out. They needed to manufacture a new brake line, from scratch and suggested that I replace the fuel line that runs parallel, as well. Cost me $1500. Okay, fine. Several months ago, my car kept stalling. They "figured out" the problem but wouldn't start work on it until half the bill was paid. Okay, fine again, but after putting in over half, the car sat. And sat. AND SAT! Finally, after an oil change and tune-up (all things that had been done within the last year) it still stalled. Six hundred bucks down the drain. I Took it back again, where it sat. And sat. AND SAT! Finally, they "fixed" it again and it died AGAIN! Finally, (finally) they replaced all of the fuel injectors, which was what they told me they were going to do in the first place. (At this point, the original mechanic, that I was dealing with, began to ghost me and not return my calls.) Well, apparently they didn't do that until the very end. I ended up butting heads with them over the course of several weeks and when I finally got my car back (I was, also, told that I needed new motor mounts. SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS! A two hundred dollar job, according to most places that I called.) I told them the best thing I can do is NOT post a review. Okay, fine, one more time. UNTIL TODAY!. I went to a different garage where I was told I didn't really need motor mounts. No surprise there. He also pointed out the sloppy job they did on the brake line. PLUS, now I've developed a fuel leak in the newly manufactured fuel line. What I thought would be metal parts, turned out to be PLASTIC! Glued in strategic areas. Holy crud. So, bottom line: I will NEVER do business with them again. read more

In the past 48 hours I went through hell and back ever since two days ago (March 15, 2024) my car broke down and I needed a tow to get myself from Ct to where I live in the Bronx. I drive a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and it broke down on me on the side of the road nearby exit 9 on I-91. On that night I pulled off to the side and I had to let my car cool off since it was smoking due to the oil in the car leaking. Eventually I made it back to my girlfriend's house since that was my destination I took my time to get there because of the state of the vehicle. I decided the next day in the morning, (March 16, 2024), I will wake up early and call Triple A to get my car towed from my girlfriends house to my House located in the Bronx. Around 9:20 in the morning, I made the call to AAA and told them what had happened and explained to them coherently that I needed a flatbed and it was me and my brother that needed to ride with the driver to get back home. I spoke to a Lady named Sam and she said she notated all the details that I told her. She said in about an hour that I will receive a call and text message. In about 15-20 minutes I got a call from LOMBARD MOTORS saying that they'll be there to pick the car up. When the time came and the man was outside, I went out to greet him and already, the man had an attitude as I went to greet and shake his hand, he refused me. I knew off the bat I was going to get a terrible experience. He told me my brother could not come with me even tho I told the triple A lady it was me and someone else, but he refused to let my brother get on. I said okay fine let me just ride with this dude and get back home and I'll pay for a train ticket for my brother to come back. He hooked up my vehicle with a disgust face like he was mad at the world. I sat in the passenger seat with him and thought I was going to go back home. Boy oh boy I was wrong. The man stops at NELCON SERVICE CENTER and as I asked him why are you stopping here I need to go back to the Bronx. He disregarded me and with attitude told me he wasn't going to do it. Mind you I specifically notated to Triple A I need to go back to the Bronx as I AM A PREMIER MEMBER AND THE TRIP MET THE REQUIREMENTS as it was 70 MILES out of the 100 limit. With distain, The man refused to answer me and told me that his boss wanted him to drop my car off there which I found out was total Bullshit. It was because the man did not want to take that trip and gave the situation to NELCON. Now I'm 18 and this was my first experience dealing with Triple A and my car broke down and now Im being denied my services to be taken back home. I was confused and felt like as it rains it just pours, things kept getting worse and worse. Now as I found out, this asshole dropped my car off at NELCON which is ILLEGAL TO DO SO since he went on there private property and wasted one out of the four trips that I have with Triple A. (Now I have to call corporate tmmr to make sure they were not paid for that one trip and that one trip this asshole took with my car only for like 5 miles doesn't count on my record). Thankfully with the help of the lady (I forgot her name) and a gentleman that was there, they were just as confused and I was as to why my car was being dropped at the service center instead of it going back to my house. I explained to them what had happened and they told me normally they didn't do this but due to my situation they were going to help me out. It was like a breath of fresh air dealing with the NELCON staff it showed that they actually cared and wanted to help out. They went to call AAA on there end to let them get the job now to take me back and I didn't know this but the towing Industry is worse then high school with the drama when it comes to situations like this, since NELCON told me this wasn't the first time LOMBARD did this to them. AAA said that SAM the lady I was talking to put in the record to drop the vehicle off at NELCON which was complete utter bullshit since I don't even know where NELCON was. All in all NELCON was a life saver for me. So the dude from LOMBARD had to audacity to come back to NELCON Property to try to pick up my vehicle again because they knew they fucked up after all the calls and complaints they was getting in the past 30 minutes, due to what that driver did to me. He pulled back up on there yard again and I swear the Man above can testify, I was going to drag him out that tow truck if he even attempted to hook up my baby. He knew he fucked up and left the property since now I had NELCON dealing with me and they understood the situation, so they took there time, communicated with me, got me a flatbed for the car I didn't care for the wait, and got me an experienced driver by the name of JOSE R. Jose was great to chat on the road with. He got me back safe and sound. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We were broken down on the side of I95 and Untouchable Towing came and evaluated towing our 43' Class A MotorCoach. The team was efficient, professional, and even though it was very late into the night, they carried on like this was not a problem. We were towed to Nelson Service Center (did I mention the owner was also right there with us?!). We arrived after 1am. They were under our coach evaluating our breakdown firs thing in the morning-and the part was ordered by 7am!! It is now noon, and we are safely on our way. My son had damaged his car and he was not able to get to his job that he had just started. AAA towed him to Nelcon (thankfully) and we did not know what to expect. Our insurance company was moving very slowly and it was really putting a strain on our son's situation as he was too young to rent a car. I have been going to Nelcon's in North Haven for 5 years and have received nothing but 5***** and exceptional service consistently. The mechanics always do a great job of diagnosing the problem and explaining options for fixing what is wrong with the pros and cons of each option. They have not even charged me when they found nothing. Despite being incredibly busy all the time, the front desk is always helpful. I even go here for a simple oil change. Hands down, I would never go anywhere else and recommend them to anyone. read more

Their tow service was good. But the service center service is horrible. Angelo tow the car and was very nice. but once the technician (KSS) was very rude. I don't know whether he has personal issues or not. He never heard us. Check only the battery and charged us 100 dollars. I had to make him stop otherwise he would have charged me more. So I got into an accident, got my car towed with AAA to this shop. I called and spoke to one of the mechanics the next day. They are genuinely nice and answer all your questions without rushing you off the phone. Oh, and they're straightforward too. I loved it. They checked my car and made sure it was safe to drive then told me all I needed was a wheel. I asked them to put my spare on and they did. I was on my way the following day to pick up my car. The guys were laid back and nice. And no nonsense either with trying to get me to spend more money etc. They were awesome the entire time. I appreciate it. read more

My daughter broke down on 91 and was towed here. We are not from the area but she goes to college nearby. She called the next day and seemed to have a hard time getting a return call. When they did call back they indicated that the code scan indicated a transmission replacement. I spoke to a friend who is from the area and he recommended a transmission shop in the area. When my daughter was able to make contact with them and told them she was having the car taken there the people said that she made a good choice as the transmission shop she chose had a good recommendation. She told them that she was going to come down and call AAA to have the car towed over. They told her not to bother as they were a AAa tow shop and they could just bring it over without her having to get down there. While we did not have any work done other than a scan I felt good about how they handled the situation. read more

Updated review - it's been two years since I left my first review and I can honestly say the only reason my car has still been running so well (having over 150k miles) is because of the solid work these guys put in over the years. If you need major engine work done this is the spot. AAA members get 10% discounts on the work done up to a certain amount as well. 2017 - These guys are the best. Blew an alternator and ruined a belt late at night, had to have AAA tow me here. They had my car running like new by the time I left work the next day. The best part - it cost me under $450 and that included labor. Don't bother getting service done at these overpriced dealerships these guys will do just as good a job at an actually reasonable price! read more

Nelcon responded to a AAA call for road side assistance and subsequently towed the vehicle to thier location. They were informed the issue was a lack of fuel to the engine most likely caused by a fuel pump. The following day they called my daughter to request a $95 diagnostic fee. Later they called back to report a bad fuse and said the vehicle was ready for pickup. The charge .... $116.00 including the diagnostic fee plus environmental fees. He claimed he had to hook up a pressure test to verify the pump had failed but never bothered to check the fuse first. After calling this to his attention during pickup, tempers flared and many foul words where exchanged. NOT A FAIR, REASONABLE, OR NICE PLACE TO DO BUSINESS. Tow service was fine. read more

My car had all of its wheels stolen while parked in a commuter lot. Sal came down, went back to find similar wheels from other cars so as to limit the damage while towing. If I could leave zero stars I would. Let me clarify this is just for the first dispatcher I talked to. Was told "Yeah a half hour and they'll be there" Mind you I was literally in spitting distance of Nelcon's address at the time. After waiting over an hour I called again and a new female dispatcher picked up and you could tell she was confused (Not her fault she handled the situation in the best way possible.) Unfortunately she had to deal with my frustration in calling 3x now and she didn't deserve that in the slightest. When the driver showed up he was very apologetic as well and you could tell it threw a wrench in his nightly plans once we finally got the car dropped off at 11:30pm (my original call was placed at 9:32, hell of a lot longer than a half hour, huh?) Seems like everyone else I had to deal with was great from this company but the first dispatcher has to get his s*** together because he's making customers and his employees lives harder while he gets to go home for the night. We're all humans but there's no excuse for laziness, especially when people are stuck on the side of the road relying on your word. read more

I was 200+ miles from home; started the car; greeted by a flashing "check engine light". AAA dispatched the guys from Nelcon. They came rapidly; did roadside diagnosis; hauled me and my car back to their center. Clearly explained the problem, how to fix it, what it would cost, and how long it would take. They clearly understood that I needed to get back to Vermont and they prioritized my repair over the cars that were going to sit there all day anyway. I drank their coffee while they replaced the 3 old coils and 4 spark plugs. They got me back on the road far faster than they promised and the car is running like a racehorse! This place is a complete rip-off. Sent a 2007 Freightliner Columbia to replace a hose that would take about 1.5 to 2 hrs. The owner and technician both were inexperienced and ripped me off! They charged me for 14 gallons of antifreeze. I own a shop myself the radiator holds about 5 to 6 gallons of antifreeze. The owner Nelcon said he would "google it". His technician Mark stated that the truck would take 25 gallons of antifreeze. Needless to say, these guys charge me almost $700 for a repair that should've have cost roughly $300-$400. read more

The gas prices are the worst in North Haven, sometimes up to $1 more then the shell station next door. The only reason they have a gas station is so they can buy gas cheap to fill up the trucks for the other business they own (ambulances and handi-vans). The dealers and repairs division along with consumer protection are looking into the shady business practice. This would be considered price gauging if done during a gas crises, but is still not right and presumably illegal if those state divisions have launched an investigation.
