Amazing service!! My car had a sticker to be towed within a 24-hour warning notice. Unfortunately, of course I was out of town! I needed my car to be towed from outside my house and onto my driveway. Called the company on a Sunday afternoon and Jim said he would send someone out to assess the situation. He estimated the cost around $100 and $50 more if there was an issue. Less than 30-45 min later, Jim said it could be done with no issue and confirmed all the details before towing. I requested a picture of the completed tow and he complied. I provided my credit card and the transaction was complete. Smooth, easy, and made my whole experience hassle-free. THANK YOU! I left my license at the Nelson Towing office in Middletown CT. I wasn't sure where it was. In order to cover all the bases, I called the 1-800 number because the Middletown office number is not listed online. I was told that a message would be relayed to the Middletown office. Someone would call me back. I was not called. I figured that Nelcon did not have it. I went to AAA and obtained a new license. When I arrived at the office the owner gave me my license. He tried to catch me when I initially visited. The bottom line is that I had to waste time and $38 to get a replacement license. Although the Middletown office owner was nice, the customer service people really suck. THANKS A LOT JERKWEEDS FOR GETTING BACK TO ME LIKE YOU SAID YOU WOULD. read more

My car was towed to Nelcon Towing and Recovery (Middletown) after an accident. I was not allowed to pick up the car the same day. I was told that they were short staffed, and the car needed to be examined to see if it was drivable. I came up the next day to pick up my car. The window was left open all night as there was water coming out of the car door handle and there was water on the door frame. They had used an electrical strap to tie my key to the steering column. I asked the employee if he has something that I could use to cut the strap. He pulled out a hunting knife and cut it off leaving a gash in my steering column. The place is not a friendly environment. You get nowhere even making a complaint. It cost me $225.99 plus uber fee to pick up my car which should have never been towed there in the first place. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

The fuel pump stopped working on my car. I live in West Haven and work in Meriden. My wife dropped me off for work and went to do some shopping in Wallingford. Car wouldn't start so I called these guys and they where there in a half hour. They took my car to the shop in West Haven and brought my wife home. I have used Nelcon before and they were great they took good care of me when I was in need today I was stuck in the mud in my back yard tried everything couldn't get out they tried to railroad me for $750 plus tax said absolutely not then they came back with $500 and i said no... called another company from another town they did it for $100 and I tipped them even more lesson of the day just because you have fancy equipment doesn't mean you need to use it there are other ways.. Nelcon lost a customer today and I will not be going back... You can keep your fancy equipment horrible service!!!!! read more

This review is for Nelcon of North Haven I believe. And more specifically at that location, for Kenny the driver and Nicole the dispatch operator? Not sure of her actual title but she answered the phone and got my situation under control, so dispatch? Anyway, her and Kenny, were outstanding. It was approximately 2pm and I had been trying to get a tow since about 10am, I was blown off by one company, and another company quoted a time that was even longer than the original time. I needed anyone for any price to tow me immediately because the shops were closing and I need my car for work, especially during this virus pandemic. I had my insurance company cancel the roadside they had coming because well, who knows if they actually were even coming, hours passed and no calls (even though there was a 1hr eta from the beginning). I called the delearship I was supposed to be towed to praying they had a tow truck, they did not. What they did have was the absolute best recommendation for a tow company ever. Nelcon Service Center (& Towing). Nicole was so sweet on the phone talking to my gf and I, even though I was frustrated and may have given her some slight attitude that she absolutely did not deserve. After explaining the severity and time sensitivity of my situation, NICOLE BASICALLY HAD A TRUCK ON ROUTE TO MY PLACE BEFORE WE GOT OFF THE PHONE!!! Like what?!?!?!?!? How is that even possible? Don't know, don't care, all I care about is that Nicole took every word I said to heart as if it was her own family member in need. She had Kenny, the driver, at my place within 20min. And the other places couldn't do it in 4 freaking hours. Kenny was also extremely professional and had a great positive attitude. He looked to be about 25 give or take a few years, but you would have thought he was some sort of older veteran the way he carried himself and our interaction. A+ service all around in every aspect! Nicole and Kenny are the type of people you pray you get to deal with when interacting with any business/service. Please make sure those 2 are rewarded! Promotions, raises, extra days off, something! They both deserve it hands down. I was having a very sh!tty 70degree Saturday, and those 2 turned it around in mere minutes. And for that, I thank you. For the second week in a row, my car shat the bed...because the mechanic it got towed to last week is lazy and wrote off lack of starting to a bad battery - it was the starter, but I digress and a poor rating on that particular business is forthcoming once I actually get my car back. So I leave work, and bam. Car won't start. Again. WTF. Go through the uneventful charade of getting jumped (to no avail) and then decide I need a tow to the place that "fixed" my car last week so they can fix their f*ck up and actually diagnose the problem properly this time around. Instead of coughing up $65 for a tow because the fiance cancelled the roadside on our insurance because he has AAA (and never added me as an associate to his AAA membership...pfft) I had him come meet me for the AAA tow so I could get it for free. I called them around 8, these guys were there by 8:30 (fantastic). After a little hiccup where the driver got turned around (the road I work is kind of long, it happens - and they're from Meriden, I work in Cheshire) the tow driver tried jumping my car again with his jump kit ("This thing has enough juice to turn over a dump truck, it's not your battery.") and when that failed, loaded it up and hauled it to the garage. I wish I got the driver's name because he deserves a cookie. When he dropped my car off at the garage, he deliberately left it in the most obnoxious place possible because "hopefully this sends the message that they need to fix your car properly this time!" That seriously made my shitty night SO much better. I'd use them for a tow again because they showed up quickly, their dispatcher wasn't a giant douchecanoe like the one I used last week, and the driver was super awesome. read more

My jeep broke down in Meriden, i called AAA and they sent Nelcon out to help. Right from the first minute I hung up I got a text message from the driver, whose name was Coty. There was a text sent to my phone immediately from Coty. He let me know exactly where he was, how long he would be, and he wanted to make sure I was in a safe position while I waited. AAA estimated 60 minutes. I have to say Coty must've texted me three times with updates and made it to my car within 30 minutes. Cody was very down to earth, friendly, and polite at the same time. I was pretty impressed with his knowledge of vehicles, motors? And his ability to hold an intelligent conversation without making me feel like a dummy because I love to drive cars and four-wheel-drive and all that stuff , but I hate working on them and I dont pretend I know a lot about it so he educated me a little bit on my jeep actually. I drove back to my house with him in the truck with very comfortable conversation very relaxed pretty down the earth too. I can see how he can make a guy like me comfortable and at the same time probably make a little old lady feel just as comfortable. I asked him to back my jeep down in between my neighbors fence and my house. Coty obviously knew exactly what he was doing behind the wheel of that truck because between the light bars sticking out the side of his truck, the mirrors, and my jeep connected to the back, he probably had about four inches on each side. He expertly backed my jeep down into that spot I wanted without touching the house or the neighbors fence. I'm not a guy who has a whole Lotta money but if i see somebody that clearly cares about his job and cares about Customer Service I always try to throw a little tip their way so I threw him five bucks for coffee or something , which for me is more about the thought than the amount. if I had more I definitely would've gave him more.. after talking with him I found out he's fairly new with the company but definitely not new at doing his job and I thinkNelcon should make sure they do whatever they have to do to hang onto this guy because he makes this company look good snd very professional. thank you Coty, you made a stressful aggravating situation so so much better. AMAZING SERVICE TODAY!!!! I never got our drivers name, but he went above and beyond to help us out after our accident while passing through CT early this morning. After a serious accident on Route 15, our group of 7 had a smashed up rental van and were unsure how to get things worked out and ultimately, back to NH. I was stranded in a busy intersection just off the highway on my way to get fuel for my pickup truck en route from Florida to NH when I ran out of diesel 100 yards from a gas station at 5:30 in the evening. Unable to get my truck running again, I called the first towing company that popped up on Google, but after 20+ minutes, they didn't show up. Luckily, the owner of Nelcon Towing was driving by with an employee as they were going to get dinner for a company meeting. Sal, the owner, hopped out of his personal car, directed traffic until his flatbed arrived to tow me back to his shop. He called in his diesel mechanic after hours to fix my truck and got me on the road quickly. The driver showed up promptly for a car tow & that was the only positive of my experience with this company. The driver was rude, insisted on trying to fix my car just enough for me to be able to drive it home, when it really needed it be towed. After showing him my triple a membership card he asked to see my car registration & demanded that those are the rules. I've had my car towed using my triple a service more than 5 times and I've never had a driver ask for that information. I wasn't able to find my registration and pulled it up on the DMV website to show that it was active but he wouldn't accept that for proof, insisting he had to see the physical paper. When I couldn't give him that he left a paying triple a customer stranded with no tow truck. I called triple a back and they weren't aware of the registration rule he was insisting on & apologized for his behavior and put in a new request for a tow from a different company and filed a complaint against this company. A new driver showed up, looked at my membership card, put my vehicle on the truck with no problems! All in all because of this one driver this whole ordeal took 3 hours. Maybe some drivers at the company are helpful and not problematic, but I did not have this experience. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, because it was extremely frustrating and very unsafe. read more

Last night our truck got stuck in some mud while going on a path in the woods to gets rocks. All went well until a curve came up and the option of going into a tree or off the road arose. The truck was now stuck in mud so high that it was seeping into the car. The first tow truck (another company) came totally unprepared with straps. After admitting defeat, we called Nelcon. They sent a man out for recon, and he called back describing the situation and what type of truck was needed. A truck arrived which looked like one of the tow trucks from Highway from Hell (the ones that tow the big rigs). The equipment was in excellent shape, the crew was spectacular (the original man stayed the entire time and the owner was present, also). They succeeded. I had an unfortunate incident with my vehicle today. When I left my house this morning it seemed fine. After a quick errand stop, I tried to re-start the car but it would not turnover. I called AAA and asked for some roadside assistance. About 45 minutes later, a technician in a Nelcon truck showed up. All I know about him was his first name - Angel. He was very professional and knowledgable. He quickly diagnosed the problem to be the battery. However, he also tested the starter and alternator and eliminated them as problem contributors. I had planned on just getting a "quick start" and then having my mechanic replace the battery on Monday. After talking to the tech, I realized I could get a better price by letting him do the job right then and there. Kudos to Angel - he saved the day and saved me some money.! Geat service read more

Couldn't ask for better service and a reasonable price. I had a tough situation with my boat trailer when the axle bent and I was stranded on the side of the road. I called someone else and thankfully they connected me with Sal at Nelcon. He came in his own truck with his son right away to check it out (must have been out enjoying his Saturday, but came anyway to bail me out of my jam). Turns out he is the owner and now I know why they are one of the most successful towing operations around. Within 45 minutes, my boat and trailer were winched on to his rig and soon after that, they were safe in my driveway, ready to be repaired on Monday when we can get the parts. Thank you Sal and Kenny for outstanding service! You could've charged me more because I had no other choice, but instead you kept the costs down, recognizing how tough of a situation I was in.
