Terrific service, friendly staff, and delicious food were all highlights of our first visit to Nellie's. I had the Farmer's Omelette, and everything about it was great. It came with a side of super-fluffy pancakes that just melted in my mouth my husband order the Monte Cristo, which was served in perfectly cooked French toast with large slices of ham. Nice new place, went on a Monday and it was not crowded. Went with "the mob" a hearty bunch of men, and all agreed their breakfast was very good. Nice menu with skillets and different Benedicts plus other interesting offerings. Service was great, never seen so may servers taking care of things in one place! The boys in the mob never had an empty coffee cup! Someone was always there to top er off and check with you! Another plus was the interior that was nice and clean. It's away from the ambience of the Newburgh river front, but that's ok, it's definitely worth a try and several repeat visits! read more

I really enjoyed the food I had except for the bacon. I was looking forward to bacon with my breakfast and it tasted like they had cooked it but then just microwaved it before bringing it to my table. I had the green skillet though and that was fantastic. read more

I am usually a fan of Nellie's but today my vegetarian daughter joined me and picked around her dish. After pushing she finally shared that the dish had too much cheese and the veggies tasted old. Went on a Tuesday morn and were seated right away with prompt service on drinks. Had Eggs Benedict... Yum and a farmhouse breakfast. Very prompt courteous service and I am a stickler on hot food and it came hot. Very clean establishment. Will go back. It is what Newburgh needed. read more

Took my family here for a Mother's day brunch on Saturday. We were shooting for 11 so some of us got there around 10:30 in order for the others not to have to wait for a table. The place was really crowded with many people waiting to be seated. There are two entrances and while there was a sign instructing you that the hostess was taking names at the other entrance, there was no hostess. One of the guys was very very busy seating people but never asked for our information. After waiting for a few minutes we caught his attention and that is when he instructed us to put our info on the yellow legal pad on the table. Again, they were very busy and perhaps understaffed but there could have been some sign telling us to do this. We were seated once our party arrived and the server attended to us quickly. The menu is pretty extensive but we all decided to have breakfast. I ordered the Nutella pancakes as I am a sucker for anything Nutella. Others had plain pancakes and omelets. Our food arrived quickly and we dug in. My pancakes had whipped cream on top and so I did not add syrup. It did not take me long to find out that I was going to need some syrup. My first few bites were very dry and I never really tasted the nutella. I won't order them again. The plain pancakes were met with differing opinions based on the preferences of the diner. They were described as cakey so those who enjoy cakey pancakes enjoyed these. I then went back for lunch on Sunday but at a later time around 2. They were much less busy (although still pretty busy) and there was a hostess on duty. I once again went for breakfast but this time ordered the Bacon Waffle. It was divine... so delicious. It comes with whipped cream and that was enough until I ran out of whipped cream. I switched to syrup at that point. I did not request additional whipped cream but I'm sure they would have been happy to provide it. My lunch mate ordered the breaded pork tenderloin and pronounced it the best he'd ever had. The bite I had would lead me to concur with his assessment. When ordering, we inquired about the potato salad and Candice told us it was mustard base. She could sense our skepticism so she brought us a sample in case we liked it to order next time. It was really, really good. We are always on the look out for good breakfast/brunch places and this one fits the bill. The servers could not have been better. We will be returning probably on a regular basis. read more
