I just got back from lunch at Nello's, a local Italian place with great pizza and excellent service. I have always had good food there. I would classify today as a great experience. I went in for a late lunch and watch a little football in a chill environment. I ended up meeting Steve, a regular there and found myself in a conversation with him and Mia (the bartender) that covered everything from football (which I know nothing about) to Mia's fashionable nails that can also be used as claws if need be to haiku poetry to manly beers vs. pink girly beers... It was like hanging out with old friends. A 45 minute lunch turned into 2 hours of funny stories over 3 beers. Great little place over on the border of Ahwatukee. The salad and wings were just average. The pizza and sandwiches were on point! Not very busy on Sundays, but busy during other times. We will be back to try more on the menu. So far, a great find! read more

Nellos has amazing food and is a hidden gem in Ahwatukee! First- the caprese board is excellent and a great appetizer ... we have also gotten the Classico board too .. and neither one disappointed. The wood fired pizza is our favorite and the bolognese pasta as well is so good! The service was great and Mia was our server- she really makes you feel at home and recommended the boards to us. You will not be disappointed here for a great meal and family atmosphere. It's on our list to visit frequently. read more

Only around 5 minutes from our house, this will definitely be a regular spot for my family and I in the future! I would love to come back during one of their specials or happy hour times. We thought we ordered way too much food, but we all devoured every bite (with a teenager and a tweenager, they can sometimes surprise us by the amount of food they can consume ). Their outside area is nice and open with misters in the patio to help cooling on a hot day. We loved it here, and we ordered a big range, fritto misto, old world salad (small was actually big) , portabello arugula pizza, spinaci pizza, and parlor burger. My youngest stated that it is the best burger and best fries that he has ever tasted, and he thinks of himself as a connoisseur of these things, lol. Everything was fantastic, and we all had different favorites, which is a good sign when you love everything in such a wide range of dishes. I'm glad we gave this place another chance in person, as during the pandemic a few years ago we had a one-off hit-and-miss experience with take-out. My neighbors keep raving about it though, so I knew we would try it again. Glad to be so wrong about my first impressions, as today this was just perfect from every angle. Enjoyed the olive/atrichoke/salami overall flavor. Nice creamy dressing on it too. I had the eggplant parm served on a bed of fettuccini noodles with sauce. Really crispy and loved the added spinach. He had the bolognese pasta and said it was good. The bread served with both meals was airy and well toasted. The cannoli filling was really good, yet the shell was thick and floury and just not right. I'd come back for the eggplant parm for sure. The service staff are friendly and prompt. Started with the house salad with their proprietary Italian house dressing (oh such joy)! Then on a whim ordered Pasta Bolognese. Pappardelle noodles, Bolognese sauce, grana padano, rosemary oil and chives. The wider noodles with the rich and meaty sauce was incredible. Noodles were done to perfection and the rich meat sauce was ladled in nicely for a rich and comforting lunch. It's pizza and so much more Thanks for the new creations ! I can't begin to state how awful my service was when I went to eat at this establishment. I had no problems with the food I must say to begin with. I never write reviews, but the attitude I received from our server was nothing I've ever experienced from simply wanting to eat a dinner with my partner. The server I was unfortunately given was Cassie. I was first greeted with a smile by Sabrina and hoped it would have foreshadowed the rest of my evening out. As I was seated, I couldn't tell what was wrong with my server. The tone and body language from our server was annoyed, tired, and nothing short of rude. I can understand if someone is having a bad day or moment but it is simply unacceptable to receive this treatment out of nowhere. I wanted to enjoy a nice meal out and go about my life but I had to go out of my way to write this review to feel any sort of resolution for the way I was treated. Again, nothing wrong from the food. I will be getting my Nellos Pizza delivered from now on. Up to whoever reads this if you want to play the Russian roulette of service here at this establishment. Disappointing. read more

Been going to Nello's Ahwatukee for years! We like to pick up to go our order. Last week ordered a large Antipasto salad and lasagne. Guy packing my order almost gave me a "small" salad when paid for large. I had to ask him was a large, he said no. Next the lasagne was already done which was weird because that usually takes longer. For $18.00 you now get half a piece. Bread stick included was like so dry you could play drums with it. Restaurant owners, we get prices have gone up, but hate when you shrink your portions and double the price!!! You get one or the other. And the chopped chicken gorgonzola salad cause you can't go wrong with that white balsamic dressing! There's a reason (actually several) we frequent Nello's. Food - ALWAYS amazing. We love the wood fired pizzas, the Greek salad is delicious and we also highly recommend the chicken Parmesan sandwich. Once we were seated the waitress took 10 mins to greet us and our food took 50 mins to arrive. I really liked the frito misto! the banana peppers are perfect!
