I really want to like The Spaghetti Shack, but it's difficult based on my experiences. I've visited twice. On my most recent visit I ordered spaghetti WITH meat sauce AND one meatball. What I received was either marinara sauce with a chopped meatball (missing the extra meatball) OR what they may call a meatball (chopped) and no meat sauce. Either way, the spaghetti was undercooked and the sauce was watery and bland. The only thing I found remotely appetizing were the small Parmesan cheese packets. That said, the service was fast and friendly. The ambiance is fine for a fast casual restaurant, but be aware seating is very limited. Just to let you know off hand, this place is set up more for pickup than eat in .one table w/3 chairs and a counter with 4 barstools. That's the only bad thing to say. The food was delicious and reasonable priced. Portions are basically single serve. Had the spaghetti and sauce. Very good. The garlic bread was toasted but soft on top and crunchy underneath. Just the way I like. The gentleman that waited on us was pleasant and helpful. This was our first visit and he was nice to give handicapped daughter a free cheesecake. This place is located on NW corner of Rural and Guadalupe. It is small and mainly for takeout. It has a fairly small menu (see photo). The food and garlic bread are very good and it is excellent carb loading prior to cross country or track meets. Friendly people and they also have sweet treat rice krispy bars which are hard to find. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. This place is such a cool "take out" place if you don't want to cook and want pasta. The spaghetti was nostalgic as it reminded me of the many spaghetti dinners that my mom would make us growing up. The garlic bread is SOO good. The serving sizes are a good portion too. We got the large family deal and it was funny to find the spaghetti inside of a fried chicken type bucket The cons I'd say are: My husband ordered online and when he got there, the ticket hadn't been transferred to the kitchen so it defeated the purpose of ordering online and picking it up. Secondly, I feel that the price per meatball is a little high. The spaghetti. Sauce is delicious, but lacks substance such as vegetables and meat, and to have to pay $2.00 per meatball felt like a lot. Overall, these cons, in my opinion, only bring it down 0.5 stars. It's a nice heavy bucket filled with pasta, but the sauce to pasta ratio is lacking. There was sauce on the bottom of the bucket and on the top, but the spaghetti was all dry in the middle. It comes with 2 pieces of garlic bread. The bread was yummy but honestly you can't go wrong with buttered bread. Personally I couldn't taste any garlic flavor at all though, ehh a bit disappointing. We also paired our bucket with 4 meatballs. I thought they were good, but a bit too dense and heavy for my wife. I would get them again though, they did the trick. We were curious about this little eatery that opened up since their claim to fame is spaghetti in a bucket. I suppose we have fried chicken and popcorn in a bucket so sure, why not pasta. After seeing they had "The Big Game" deal going on this Sunday I figured that was the perfect time to try! Side note: Tbd if competitor By The Bucket offered a Superb Owl deal. The deal included their "full shack" for $10 and meatballs for $1 each. The full shack is 1.5 lbs of spaghetti with sauce, and a half loaf of garlic bread. We opted for 3 meatballs which were placed in the bucket on top of the pasta. Everything was very securely wrapped and we took this mighty meal to a local park for a pasta picnic! Overall it was a carbtastic meal. The spaghetti was plentiful as was the full flavored sauce. The meatballs were well seasoned, very soft and tender. It was a good deal since we got $4.50 off the pasta and $.50 off each meatball. The garlic bread was good. The bread was crusty with a soft inner crumb. It was well buttered. I'm so glad this opened near our house!! When life is busy (kids in sports, parents who work and coach and are active in other things) sometimes you need an easy meal! Is it hard to make pasta and sauce? - no, but sometimes it's nice to not create more dishes or take the time when you can grab and go. The sauce is flavorful, the bread is soft and buttery and the meatballs have the perfect amount of flavor! I'm sure this will be a go to spot for us on those busy weeknights when we are pushed for time and don't want to eat at 10pm! The staff were super friendly and helpful! This was more a 3.5 star, but because of the prices & convenience it could be considered a 4. There are some definitive pros & cons. There really aren't many places that offer your classic, simple staple of spaghetti. The portions here for the spaghetti bowls are quite generous! The single serving was really enough for two full servings. I added a meatball, not sure how large it would be, but one is plenty for a single serving. Next time I'd order two for the one bowl. A very adequate amount of sauce fully covers the pasta & leaves enough to dip the side of garlic bread included. The garlic bread is a nice slice, large enough to split in half to share & had good texture/flavor. It's the spaghetti & meatball where the flavor & consistency is really lacking. Pretty bland with no seasoning. Not memorable or good enough to request seconds. The cheesy garlic bread was also a decent portion, enough for two to split. Definitely an adequate amount of cheese & perfectly melted. It was actually my favorite part of the meal. I also ordered the side salad- which was a decent size. But, not really a "salad" when it was literally lettuce from a bag with one cherry tomato on top. The "Italian" dressing I selected ended up being a container marked "H" that looked like ranch but tasted like ranch with a spoon of sugar included. It just wasn't very good. Overall, the food was the equivalent of what you'd get buying a package of pasta, jarred sauce, pre-made frozen meatballs, bagged iceberg lettuce & pre-made garlic bread. Very basic & nothing that really stands out. But, there is something to be said for the simplicity. It's very straight forward & the prices are decent. For a quick & classic dinner this will cover the bases & satisfy cravings. I'll likely order again when I'm in the mood for spaghetti or need a quick dinner to please everyone. You can always add your own seasonings & adjust as necessary. ...but bonus points for providing packets of parmesan & red pepper! read more

The store was cute but needs tlc. The food wasn't fresh it didn't taste good i got a very small end piece of bread witch I didn't appreciate. I payed for an extra meatball but didn't get it. So good. Cute little walk-in carry out restaurant in a strip mall. I work at a hotel and needed lunch for 9 people. We got 2 full shacks and added 16 meatballs. With the garlic bread included, we were all able to eat ourselves into a lovely food coma. Food was great and the service was even better. The nice blonde cashier lady was so friendly and cheerful, offered to add a special that we were unaware of, and got extra bags to fit everything. The menu is short and to the point; Order a size of Spaghetti and the meatballs are purchased a la carte. The pasta and the sauce are good, but those $1.50 meatballs are so damn delicious! I brought home a pound of pasta and 4 meatballs for my wife and I and we had leftovers for each of us to eat the next day. What a great deal.
