Employees like Anthony are a big part of what keeps customers coming back. Jenny and Abby have also always been friendly, welcoming, and a pleasure to interact with. Unfortunately, my experience has not been as consistent with everyone. My first experience with Sean was excellent, but on later visits I noticed a significant difference in his customer service when he wasn't directly serving me. The friendliness and attentiveness I experienced initially seemed to be missing, which left me feeling unwelcome. The reason I'm sharing this feedback is because consistency matters. Great hospitality should be extended to all guests, regardless of who is serving them. Serial Wine Room has so much going for it, and with more consistent customer service across the team, it would make the experience even better. LXV is especially known for pairing wine with custom spice and flavor experiences that complement the tasting. They traditional wine tasting and a wine-and-cheese pairing experience (which I highly recommend). The cheeses are coated with the different blends of LXV's own herbs and spices, adding a unique layer of flavor to each tasting. Since it's more of boutique, the bottles are quite pricey, mostly ranging near the 100s. But it was our favorite the whole weekend we went there. And we bought 6 bottles. We loved the spell and got 3 bottles of that! It's a Syrah cab blend. Has the Paso flavor that we love. It's not a vineyard, just a tasting room but worth a visit. We met the wine maker too. Friendly and attentive service. Can't wait to pop open a bottle at home soon!

There's not a ton of flash which some high end wineries use disguise mixed quality of wine. You'd be comfortable here dressed up or in sweats. Justin, the tasting room lead, is knowledgeable but far from snooty. On a quiet weekday afternoon, he spent a long time with us -- we explored a wide range of whites and red (and one rose). Some of our favorites: Chardonnay Napa Valley, Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard Carneros (I don't drink Chards and really enjoyed this one), Cabernet Angels Vista, Cabernet Lameraux. Yes some of the wine is expensive but they have something for everyone.

I also really loved the setup with tables to sit at versus standing at a bar. They offer wine by the glass as well as different tasting flight options, and they also serve small bites. We heard there are different menus depending on the day, which is a nice touch. Our server greeted us quickly, brought water right away, and got our first tasting to us fast. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and did an excellent job explaining each one. Since we were in a bit of a hurry to catch a flight, she kindly brought all of our tastings out at once, clearly labeled, walked us through them, and let us enjoy at our own pace. Unlike most tasting rooms in Paso, including many of the downtown ones, they are open nice and late - 8pm most nights and 9pm on Friday and Saturday. They primarily serve reds (with a rosé available for tasting while we were in, and a white available by the bottle only) and specialize in Spanish varietals. I really liked the educational sheets they had about the Paso Robles AVA, and the map of the different districts. Wines weren't our absolute favorite, but we did end up getting a bottle of one of their garnacha's to bring home! Hope to come back and try their Albariño sometime and maybe do a glass/bottle over a tasting.
