I remember in the past there being literally just BBQ, hot sauce, and mustard so it's nice to see there being more of a variety. The sides I tried including the beans and coleslaw were also delicious. I remember the coleslaw being good in the past but for whatever reason, this one just hit different. It was perfectly seasoned and went well with the brisket and white lightning sauce. Did they change the recipe or am I just losing my mind? I'm not sure but my stomach was definitely happy either way. My boyfriend also mentioned how the mac and cheese was much better than before and although I didn't try any myself, it even LOOKED better than previous versions. The cheesy sausage was delicious as usual, the brisket was moist and fell apart, and the wings were perfectly cooked and slathered in a delicious buffalo sauce. OH and the drinks? So good. If you like tiki-inspired stuff, you'll love their menu. Is there someone new back in the kitchen working some magic or did I just really miss coming here? As he preceded to get the sample the gentleman (who may be the owner, not sure) in the kitchen told him nah we don't do that. This is the same gentleman that rung up my order and he just wasn't friendly almost annoyed while I was asking questions. Service was friendly and welcoming upon walk-in, but that was the best part of our experience. The food sadly did not match the reputation. EVERYTHING came out lukewarm, the brisket was overcooked and dry, cornbread was burnt and hard, greens had no seasoning, and the baked beans were overwhelmingly vinegary. The bratwurst was underwhelming with no real snap, and even the B-side drink was way too sour. The mac & cheese and coffee BBQ sauce were the only good items of our entire meal. I really hope the kitchen staff was having an uncommon off-day, because this visit didn't reflect the recognition at all. Our meal was a compete letdown, so I hope they improve for future diners soon. PS - There is an upstairs and a downstairs, but if you sit upstairs, you have to order your food downstairs - they do bring the food up to you though.
