This restaurant offered the most incredible food and warm, friendly welcome. With just getting vaccinated, this was one of my family's first restaurant outings in over a year and I was so glad it was here. We sat a center table with lots of room for social distancing. And then we tried a sampling of so many different dishes! Vegetable Samosas, Chicken Mo Mo and Pilots to start with some spicy pickles. Then we all tried different lamb dishes (as that was our mood). Masala, Vindaloo, Korma with beautiful rice. One vegetarian among us also thoroughly happy with her vegetarian masala. We didn't have room for dessert but we ordered one anyway. It was all amazing and we feel like we made a friend in the host and the servers. Cannot recommend this gem of a restaurant any more highly. Thank you! read more

This is one of our favorite places; we order take out way more often than I'd like to admit. We usually stick with some basics-- naan, chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, veggie samosas, yogurt. We have one very challenging eater at home and even he loves it. We've only dined in a few times, but that was nice too. Their lunch buffet is really good. The employees here are always really welcoming and go out of their way to be nice. If you're just picking food up, you can usually pull up right in front on Michigan and leave your flashers on if you're quick :) read more

We came here upon recommendation from my Indian coworker. We were seated right away and ordered a variety of items. We got the Vegetable Momo, Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Saag, Tandoori Chicken, Basmati Rice, Garlic Naan, and Onion Naan. It was all so very good. I was disappointed in myself for getting the Saag not knowing how similar it was to the Paneer. I suppose it's another opportunity for me to come back. The service was pretty good, as we had to leave at a certain time for one of our other coworkers to catch the Metra back home. I like this place a lot. You have to give them a little break... they just opened (April 7, 2013) and the service is a little slow but the food is worth the wait. If you like Chicago Curry House on Plymouth Court, you will like this place. On my first visit, I tried the Goat Chhoela appetizer, great start to a meal... the Lamb Curry was also very good... the Fish Tikka Masala will keep you wanting for more even when you are full... and I have to mention that the Garlic Naan was very good... great for dipping in both the curry sauce and the masala sauce. Great food and great service. Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars. Ordered lamb tikka masala and chicken vindoloo. Both were great. Tikka masala is one of my favorites and many people cannot make it properly, but they got it right! Also ordered a potato app which was okay probably wouldn't order again. Spicy naan and til naans were very good. Will definitely be back especially to try the buffet. read more

This is a typical Indian place in Chicago which basically uses the same tasting curries for everything. Nothing unique at this place as the Indian food is pretty bland. The Nepal side is better the chicken momo is flavorful and the curries have a distinct taste. Lunch special is okay features some options but seems like they take the nights leftovers and feature them in the buffet. read more

Frankly speaking I would give this restaurant less than one star. In fact it does not deserve any star. I am saying this because it's my second experience with momos from Nepal house at Michigan ave in last six month. I don't know if chef of this restaurant knows how to make momos. Dishes were very well spiced, naan was soft and chewy and the vegetable samosas were possibly the best I've ever had. Just got take out curry and am more than disappointed. The small amount of chicken included literally inedible. It's all gristle and either very over cooked or very undercooked. I've been to the Chicago Curry House so i was pretty excited when they announced this place would be opening up a block away from my place. Space: Nice and cozy. Some of the tables along the side wall are placed a bit too close to each other and can be a bit uncomfortable. Decor is pretty much the usual that you find in an indian/nepalese fine dining restaurant. Kind of a weird thing to notice but I thought their plates were very nice. Service: Friendly and they hustled but they still need smooth out a couple of rough spots. I thought we had to wait once or twice a little bit longer than usual. Nothing unusual for a newer place though. On the whole, good. Food: Fantastic! I got the Chicken Chilly Masala, my wife got the Mutter Paneer. We also got the onion and cilantro naan. Everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. The chicken was very tender and the peppers added just the right amount of spice. Taken together with the rice that accompanies each dish, it was right on. Also, the dipping sauces they start you out with are very good. Overall: I hope Nepal House is around for many years. Their momos (Nepalese dumplings) are fantastic and this is the only Indian/Nepalese place that serves vegetarian vindaloo. In fact, they have a great variety of vegetarian food. I ordered $67.00 worth of food, got home, and realized that one of my items was incorrect. I called, went back, showed the manager a photo of what they had given me, and he recognized that the order in the bag might be the same thing, but since the kitchen was closed told me to come back if it was not correct this time. It wasn't, but when I called today, they refused to rectify it. They have lost a customer. In these times of pick-up and delivery orders, it's important to get it right. Terrific lunch option for a very good price. The options change frequently (with a couple of trusty regular items, like the saag paneer and tandoori chicken), a really decent array of vegetarian dishes, and always a great desert. The spicing is not overdone, and thankfully they don't add too much salt like most restaurants, which makes the dishes taste that much fresher and better. At night they offer the full menu, with a couple of unusual, bit highly recommended dishes like the dried toasted rice with fresh cilantro and red onions, and some outstanding curries and vegetable dishes that are simply well-balanced. They offer plenty of condiments if you wish to spice it up, or make it saltier. We ordered the Korma, Aloo Ghobi, plain naan and mango lassi. The korma came out on top as it was flavorful and creamy with tender meat. Although we had to remind them about our naan and lassi, the service was friendly and attentive with refilling our water every time it got low. I made a reservation for my work family and everything was perfect. Booking the reservation was so easy and once my group arrived it was set up lovely for us. The food is top notch. We have a lot of people who were trying this food for the first time and the menu was explained properly. As a picky eater, I can say my food (chicken tikki) was AMAZING. Really great place for Indian food! We ordered the chicken biryani and paneer Tikka masala. Both were phenomenal. Loved that they also had traditional Nepalese dishes - the vegetable Momos were good as well. On a separate occasion, we ordered paneer makhani for delivery. This dish didn't have many paneer pieces in it and the gravy was quite thin. However, the taste was still great! Staff was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going here again! read more
