We set up my father's cremation years before we needed it. That was such a blessing. Once the time came sweet Rae contacted me about plans and how to proceed moving forward. She has the kindest softest voice and just a soft kind demeanor. She set me at ease from the start. We set up a meetin, she had everything in order neat and tidy. She told me of things I did not know we were entitled to through the veterans affairs. She arranged to have the flag and case delivered to their office so we could pick everything up at once. Neptune society really treated us well during a particularly crappy situation. We called numerous funeral homes when my mother passed unexpectedly. Neptune was the most affordable so we went with them. They never pushed. I was so worried they would, but they never pushed once. The process took about 10 days from start to finish for us. We worked with Rae and she was lovely and very communicative. I pray I never need to use them again, respectfully. But should the situation arise, now I know where will get my business. read more

Our mom died in July and I wrote this review at them time. It's been a few months and I'm still mad about the poor service we received from Neptune Society, so with some light editing here you go: I'm not sure what our mom bought from this company but whatever she paid for it was too much. As far as we can tell all of the services they "provide" are subcontracted to actual funeral homes, and the staff at Neptune itself is supposed to be the middle layer, but since they don't listen well or communicate clearly my family and I found the service to be nothing but a source of frustration. Every step of the process was complicated and/or delayed by an apparent IT system update, which they have mentioned every time we spoke with them. My mom just died - I cannot understate how few effs I have to give about their internal computer situation. Secondly, that they didn't care to come up with a downtime procedure for a planned system outage is a huge red flag. And lastly, that they couldn't work around it or stop mentioning it/using it as an excuse demonstrated a lack of compassion and tone-deafness that was really quite mind-boggling. All of the actions related to handling her body and cremation were performed by Wolff funeral home, who were lovely and professional, and we've arranged her memorial service independent of Neptune with O'Halloran and Murphy who have handled the details smoothly for a very reasonable cost. Do yourself/family a favor and avoid this clown show. Make direct arrangements with an actual funeral services company instead. read more

Sales representatives tend to tell you what you need to hear. The truth usually takes place when you are in the office doing paperwork you thought was already done. Rae, is the local office employee tasked to work out the bumps and required paperwork. She is young but very accommodating. It was not her who sold you the program, but she does her best to work out any problems you may incounter at a very stressful and emotional time. read more

My husband and I signed up for the Neptune society after meeting with their sales rep Carl. He was very personable and showed up in a suit and tie. Unfortunately we assumed that that represented the rest of the staff. It was not the case. When my husband passed away the duo that showed up to pick up his body had facial piercings and the male had earrings down to his shoulders. Their demeanor was very disrespectful and improper however there appearance really offended me. They brought his body up from the lower level in a plastic body bag . My grandkids had to see their grandfather in a bag body bag in the kitchen. They also we're going to take him out through the garage until my son said he that he needs to be taken out through the front door. They did do that but I felt the whole procedure lacked respect. There's a lot to be said about appearances especially when dealing in this situation. We chose the Neptune Society because we had homes in 2 distant states and also traveled out of the country frequently. We wanted the assurance that if one of us died someplace faraway, it would make things simpler for our family. Then my husband died unexpectedly in Minneapolis when we lived about 300 miles away. The Neptune Society made the arrangements for the pickup of his body and the cremation and the cremains were shipped to our home. They were very professional and handled things smoothly, including the handling of the death certificates. It has streamlined what would otherwise have been a difficult process for our family. This past year, we decided to prepay cremation expenses for a family member. That was accomplished easily and will result in a smoother transition when that person actually passes away. The Neptune staff was very helpful in explaining all of the options and making the arrangements. When my sister passed away unexpectedly, we knew exactly who to call. They responded immediately and came to my sister's apartment, met with the medical examiner, and transported her remains to their facility. Shannon was a beacon of light during some of the darkest days of my life after losing my mom unexpectedly. She was very warm and kind, responded promptly to emails and calls, was professional, and really helped us honor my mom and her life. I was out of town when my mom died and even though she wasn't embalmed due to being cremated, they made my mom look natural and beautiful - exactly like herself - so I could say good-bye. This wasn't part of the original plan so it was extra special that they were able to do this so I could see her one last time. Approximately 1 year ago, my mother began to talk about the Neptune Society and the services that they offer. My first reaction was that she was still young (64), and that she had plenty of time to think about death at a later time. She then asked if I would also take a look into the Neptune Society and let her know if I felt that she should move forward with contacting them. I procrastinated a bit, but eventually completed my mothers request and told her that all of the reviews that I read were very positive. I indicated that I felt comfortable with her moving forward should she decide to, based upon the information that I found. My mother then called me about a week later, and told me that she had purchased a plan that would fulfill her wishes and would not place burden upon her children, should the time come. My mother received her information package from the Neptune Society in early October of 2012. January 5th 2013, I received a call that I will never forget. My brother called to tell me that something was wrong with mom and that the paramedics were working on her, and they were going to take her to the hospital. I jumped in my car and drove as quickly as I could to her home. Moments before getting there, I received another call telling me that my dear sweet mother had passed. As my brother and I embraced one another, I realized that I was now the person responsible for making arrangements. Remembering what my mother had done only a few months prior, I located the information package and simply called the 1-800 number located on her Neptune Society account card. Calling that number was the only thing I had to do to get things going. The Neptune Society is absolutely amazing and completely took care of everything. Though my mother was now gone, she too was still taking care of me. I highly recommend the Neptune Society and the services that they offer. I would have been completely lost without them.
