My elderly father made advanced arrangements for the care of my mom's remains with the Neptune Society. When Dad passed away, we found that Mom's arrangements where well taken care of. When mom passed away, a few month later, the Neptune Society was there, just as promised. The whole process was straightforward. The hospice nurse simply made the phone call and Neptune society took it from there. Brad, from the Neptune Society, provided excellent service and was easy to work with. Please understand I am grieving my father, who I love dearly and miss so much. He passed recently, in the beginning of November. I'm sorry this is so long. They hurt me. I am not doing that great. ***Please check the complaints at the Better Business Bureau.*** Neptune is *not* accredited. I am going to file a complaint there. A friend is helping me now to deal with them. I have spent nights crying over what they did. I would not trust them with anything, much less my father's remains. I wasn't even sure they would give me his ashes, it could be anybody, as far as I can tell from their practices. I could not handle looking at his urn and wondering who was in there. 1. They work on commission, and they upsell you, hard, once you have started the process of cremating your loved one. When you are vulnerable and grieving. It was a long conversation of upselling. I was just trying to understand the cremation process and when I would receive my Dad's ashes (I live in another state). I was wildly confused when they started telling me about all the things to buy and do. Like [[HIGHLIGHT]]if I wanted to view my father (outrageous price to do that), it would cost hundreds more to ***put a pillow behind his head*** Not. Kidding. I literally gasped in shock a[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]n[[HIGHLIGHT]]d "oh my f***ing god" slipped out of my mouth. 2. They charge far (2x) more t[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]han other funeral homes/crematories. I wish, wish, wish, I had done better research. Neptune is a national company and seemed reputable. I was so wrong. 3. If issued a refund, it is wildly inadequate. My policy was $2745. They gave me $909 as refund. I researched online - they are known for being unethical with refunds. I am sure these awful people issue refunds frequently. Again, check the BBB. Look on here for other crematories the do not upsell you. I found a wonderful one, Elemental. Charged HALF, did not upsell. They told me about extra procedures they have, beyond legal requirements, for making sure the remains are of the right person. They do not work on commission. They were perfect. To Neptue Society directly: I will not stop until my refund is resolved ethically. Be aware of that. You humiliated me and caused me pain at the most difficult moment of my life. Yelp advertises the NEPTUNE Society as low priced. THEY DEFINITELY ARE NOT IN FACT THAT WERE HIGHER THAN ANYONE FOR CREMATION. We used Neptune years ago and they were said to be the lowest cost and I believe it was $700 to $900 and was among the lowest. I called today and was told cost was $2300. read more

We were very happy with the help and care we got from the Neptune Society following my mother's death in early Feb. 2025. They were prompt, caring and professional, and they have a good working relationship with Snohomish County. My mom passed on a Sunday morning while it was snowing. Hospice called them, and they picked up her body withing 3 hours which gave me time to be with her and say my goodbyes. My mom wanted to make her passing as painless as possible. A big part of that was pre-paying for her arrangements through the Neptune Society. Knowing I would be shaken at the time of her passing, she shared that I would just need to call The Neptune Society & they would take it from there. It was true. I made the call after Mom passed and they received it with compassion & next steps. They picked her up within 3 hours, and had records of Mom's wishes including the prepaid urn for her ashes. It made a hard time so much easier. They stayed in touch with me through the process, ordered the death certificates, & notified Social Security. It was one last way Mom took care of me. read more

Neptune is pricey. I bought an urn and provided my own urn gave it to them and they forgot the urn and they forgot to put the ashes in it - I had to remind them. They could not located the doctor so I had to do it. This delayed the crematory process which delayed in getting the death certificate. My husband was military and I submitted the form to get the flag and they nearly forgot to give it to me. I had to remind them. Lack of communication, incorrect dates on death certificates (multiple times), length of time to receive remains (a month), did not process the way we requested. I don't know, maybe they lost the body. Some of the reviews make me feel better, or worse depending. All I know is multiple times I have been through a circus of call transfers/ calls & messages throughout their whole system w/o getting clear info before getting connected to my man after a second call a day later. Then the date for remains was cancelled last minute 'something to do w/ the burning schedule', so arranged for today &no show as of yet. To recite the redundant, dealing w/ a death is a lot, this line of work's main nuance should be social service sensitivity/ relative timeliness. The background noise on the calls is more than a morbid cliche, the caring voice w/ the stereotypical, banal music makes me think a Sat Night Live faux commercial is coming on. It's not, it's the remains of my Dad. We'll see, but I am jockeying around whole schedules between 2houses I now own & I am getting birds chirping on the other end. This is all aside from the prices. Lastly, I would like to know the specific connection w/ Hospice- b/c Hospice is the main conduit to them. On that note, Hospice proved overall inept in this case too, my Dad finally having to say 'I appreciate what you do, but pls don't come back.' Neptune can be deceptive in their charges, very poor communication with the local agencies required to complete the business such as death certificates. 4 April 2022 Very impressed with service response. My parents were not customers and we used their services for both of them and were very satisfied. My wife and I purchased a policy in 2018, retired to Hawaii in 2019 and they let us know exactly what our loved ones need to do in case. . . . I spoke with Kim - who was great but when I asked something she was unsure about I spoke with Steve Anderson who answered all my questions! Couldn't be happier with the services they've provided for both my parents and the service they continue to provide - if you're interested in cremation services, I can't see how you'd go wrong with them! After having dealt with making funeral arrangements for several loved ones in the past, I have incredibly LOW standards for the quality of service provided by funeral homes and cremation providers. However, Neptune Society of Lynnwood sets a new record for ineptitude, poor communication, lack of transparency, a general horrible experience for a grieving family. If negative stars were possible, I would give them here... Where exactly to begin? I was on the phone with a service advisor when I received word that my uncle had just passed. Though we had just spent 20 minutes on the phone completing all the paperwork, JUSTIN advised he could not finish the contract since it was no longer a "pre-arrangement." He assured me I should go ahead and give the hospital Neptune's contact information and they would take care of everything, and that he was saving all the account /intake documents we had just completed, and would have a funeral director reach out to me the next day to finish the process. The next day, I received TWO calls from prearrangement advisors trying to sell me plans for myself, but when I informed them I was waiting to hear from their company about a current need, they promptly said they couldn't assist me, but "someone would be in touch." Someone was NOT in touch. The next day, after calling twice, I finally reached funeral director, JOHN DE WATER, who could not find any information about my uncle, and so we spent another half hour doing the intake paperwork again. He seemed unable to understand that my uncle's HUSBAND was the next of kin, and did have legal authority to sign the releases. he also seemed unable to remember, in spite of being advised of it twice, that my uncle had a husband, not a domestic partner. (Same sex marriage has been legal in this state since 2014. It is inexcusable for someone in a service profession to refuse to acknowledge a legal marriage this way!) John completed the profession and advised he would be emailing me the authorization forms as soon as we hung up. Another day later (4 days after the death), still nothing. No service contract, no draft death certificate filing (without which we cannot access the estate), no authorization to cremate. Not even a response to the basic question, "can you confirm that my uncle's body has been picked up?" After several hours of phone calls and emails, John confirmed he wrote my email address down wrong, and would resend the paperwork. He emphasized that I needed to return the forms that same day, which I did. In response, I receive an out-of-office message. I continued to get out-of-office notices from John for two days, when eventually SHANNON took over my family's account. she also could not find the file, so we did the intake paperwork for a THIRD time. She did at least confirm that Neptune was in possession of the body, but disgustingly joked that my uncle "wasn't going anywhere" so she needed to prioritize clients with "emergencies" instead. Not surprisingly, I did not receive the cremation authorization form that day, or the next. I called again the next day and was told that Shannon was out of the office but was returning emails from home. I did not hear from her for the next 3 days. Eventually an assistant completed my forms, after doing the intake interview a FOURTH time (and still not understanding the concept of same sex marriage as a legal entity, and insisting the correct language was "domestic partners." (N.b. Same sex marriage has been legal in Washington state for more than a decade. Anyone working with the public should know this. It is demeaning, discriminatory, and inexcusable to not respect the legality of that relationship.) I expressed my frustration with the now-more-than-a-week-long process to just do the paperwork, and the director I spoke with "apologized" but then justified that "sometimes when people come to us in bad circumstances, it just colors their perceptions of the entire process." Talk about gaslighting! The fact that my loved one passed while I was literally on the phone with a Neptune Society rep and they had to legally pass me to someone else does not excuse not being able to account for the body, passing us to four different representatives, none of whom could communicate in a timely manner. Before this, I had planned on making my own prearrangements through Neptune. Now, I would rather leave my corpse to rot in the street rather than punish any of my relatives to have to engage with such callous and unprofessional people. PS: the discrimination complaint to the state human rights commission is pending. read more

We called the Neptune Society for cremation services after my Mom passed away recently. They were very good about taking care of all arrangements, and very sensitive to all of the concerns that any person would have after losing a loved one. I think the price is competitive for the Seattle area, at about $1800, but it still seems high to me for a basic cremation service. It may be apples to oranges, but we paid about $650 in Salem, OR in 2011 for my Dad's basic cremation. Still, that is not a knock on the Neptune Society. They did a very good job and were very easy and considerate to work with. I would give 5 stars but for the price. Also, I did not have time to research so it may be that they are very competitive. read more

Cremation services are something most of us don't have a wealth of experiences comparison shopping for, and well, most of us don't want to become experts in cremation services. In this case my father passed away on a Thursday. I made the initial phone call and Neptune answered promptly, seemed caring and answered my questions. Like most in that situation I was not interested in comparison shopping and wasn't looking for a deal. I notified the hospital of my choice to use Neptune and waited. By Monday I called the hospital to see what was going on. They notified me that Neptune had taken my father's remains on Friday, but had not bothered to let anyone from my family know. I tried calling Neptune but got nothing but voicemail. I left several messages and even tried using their answering service, but was not able to reach a person. My messages went unanswered all day long. Finally at the end of the business day I got a terse return phone call from a representative who seemed irritated that I was trying, after three days, to locate my father's remains. All it would have taken was a three minute phone call when picking him up on Friday to say, "We have your Dad and we can speak next week to make arrangements" or how about when you have someone's loved one you made it a priority to call first thing in the morning? I got an excuse that they were busy, and seemed irritated with me. So bad first step. I made an appointment for later in the week, since they were too busy. My sister and I went into the strip mall where the offices were located. The rep had the overwhelming "used car salesman" vibe about him. He had nice glossy folder to provide us with paperwork, but upon opening the folder the mess of jumbled paperwork inside was an embarrassment. This is supposed to be important steps to set your loved one's affairs in order, but it was a bad photocopy, of a photocopy, of a copy where the text was now at such an angle on the page that some of the characters were missing and the font was now blurry. Ok, not so professional. While he was out of the room we took the time to peruse the urns and keepsakes on display and offered. The urns started in the high $300 range and went up from there. I haven't shopped for urns before so I didn't know if this was good or not. A simple search on Amazon found the exact same urns on offer there for $40-120. I'm not knocking Neptune, it may be worth it to someone to pay a $300 mark-up to have them transfer your loved one's cremated remains from one container to another, but to me it seemed like a steep mark-up, especially in the age of smartphones where you can see the usual retail price for those items. So then was the sales pitch. It did feel like a car negotiation. When it was all said and done the basic service. Just the cremation and two certified copies of the death certificates, with no additional bells or whistles was $1,823. This was actually about double what some other places had quoted, but Neptune already had our father's remains and we didn't want to fuss with moving him or making other arrangements. One more shot at upselling - our rep said some people are upset at getting their loved one in a cardboard box. We were planning to scatter our father's remains as he expressed in his wishes so we didn't need to spend another $400 for a temporary urn. We thought about getting one from Amazon for $74. Our Father's cremated remains and death certificates were ready when promised. The delivery was professional with only a token effort at upselling for a service again. The box containing the bag of remains was actually very nice for our purposes. It was a rigid rectangular black plastic. It was not in any way ornate but was dignified enough to not need any upgrade prior to the service and scattering. Overall this is the fast-food or used car experience of cremation services. Certainly not top shelf, but they did provide the services we were seeking, if not without a few significant glitches. read more

I just got off the phone with a rep from Neptune Society. What I was requesting was info on their packages to be emailed to me. He started off by telling me about Neptune and then about himself and how he ended up working with the company. Once we got to the end of the convo I told him I will go over the packages with my family and let him know as I have his number. And then here it comes the good ole sales pitch- can I ask you 2 questions? How did I do? How likely would you choose Neptune? And then "if you purchase now you will be locked in". Told him I need to talk to my family. He said can I follow up with you in a week? Told him I will call him back but if you feel you need to call me go ahead. I was in sales before so I get it, you want to close. So annoying! I get the sales pitch etc like I said I use to work in sales but this is a cremation service not a car lot! So wrong! read more

I reached out to Neptune Society as I had several friends who had already used their services and were so happy they did. I called Neptune Society 2 prior to my mom's death. I am so glad I called them when I did. My mom died at a local big hospital. After going down to see her body, I called the Neptune Society to let them know she had passed away. They took care of everything from there on out and I mean everything. They even called the Social Security and Medicare offices. Those were two items that were on my own 'to do list'.
