Cracked tiles in my brand new house

UPDATE---- So it's been nearly a year since we had our solar up and running after they had to remove a whole roof full of panels and reinstall. Last years October bill without solar was 199. This Year with solar it's 522. Such a scam!

Completely destroyed roof! Is this a joke? Is Ashton Kutcher going to come out and tell me I am being Punk'd? Where are the MTV cameras?
    Sean B.

It has now been more than a month since I realized that NERD Power destroyed my roof, I had notified them to get it fixed and I am still waiting for results. There has been zero proactive follow up by the destroyers, as the only time I've heard a response back, has been the result of an inquiry. Of those responses, it has been very non-committal statements that they haven't gotten the roofer's proposal back yet, they are still waiting on the roofer to get back to them, the roofer needs to order materials, we should hear something next week, etc. not once was I ever reached out to, for them to let me know that they've truly done anything towards fixing my roof. I am finally at my wits end and have given them the ultimatum to get it fixed within the next week or I would source my own solar installers to remove the panels, a roofer to replace the broken tiles and then the installers to correct all of the shortcomings of the original install. This work would be billed against their contractors bond, and I hope not to need to go that route. I am embarrassed for them that it's gotten to this point, but I have no choice. Update 5/28/21 They scheduled my roof repairs to happen yesterday and today. I took the 2 days off of work to be present while they were here, so I'd be available in case they had any questions, I could personally inspect the roof before the roofer left and before the panels were reinstalled. Over 70 tiles that were broken, were replaced yesterday. There are still another 30 tiles that need replacing. In addition to the above, their roofer only brought 12 (Twelve) tiles to do this work. I had 30 spares left over from my roofing renovation and grabbed another 30 from a nieghbor who was redoing their roof and had extras. Because they didn't plan at all, they didn't have enough tiles to finish the roof. Day 2 of the work, I email NERD power to find out when their subs would be arriving. I was told that since they didn't have enough tiles (enough must mean more than the 12 they brought), that they would have to come back next week. I have no words. 100 broken tiles. I take 2 days off work, and I end up being the only one at my house wanting to get things fixed. Also in this process, they mislabeled my added electrical panel, to where that 2 of the breakers for my home were buried in the solar disconnect breakers. When they shut off my solar to fix my roof, they killed power to 2 parts of my house. Then they left and never came back. When I checked my breakers, all breakers were on. I had to open up the panel, break out my electrical meter and go through the panel until I could find the breakers.

Our deck is more than 40 years old and had multiple layers of coatings applied over the years, yet it continued to leak. Louis took the time to thoroughly inspect the deck, explain our options, and recommend a solution that made sense. We never felt pressured--just well informed. The crew's workmanship was outstanding. They carefully removed the existing railing, cut away old flashing and failed coatings, installed new plywood where needed, added new flashing, applied a new waterproof coating system, and then reinstalled the railing. Throughout the project they were professional, efficient, and extremely courteous. What impressed us most was their attention to detail and communication. The work was completed ahead of schedule, the job site was kept clean, and the finished deck looks beautiful. Most importantly, after our first major storm since the project was completed, we didn't have a single leak. If you're looking for a roofing or waterproofing contractor who is honest, knowledgeable, and stands behind their work, we highly recommend L&R Roofing Solutions. Louis and his team will take great care of you.

So after looking around we came across L&R Roofing. We needed an inspection fast and the actual repair done even faster because the Arizona monsoon was about to be in full swing and we were incredibly stressed. Right off the bat during the inspection, Luis was so honest and told us we absolutely did not need an entire new roof and warned us not to let anyone try to sell us one. Nowadays it is so hard to find companies that truly want to help you rather than just make make a sale, so that was such a huge relief and let us know right away that he wasn't going to BS us. He also went above and beyond during that walk-through. Our home inspector had told us we only had one slipped tile, but when Luis got up there, he found a handful of them and just pushed them all back into place for us. Slipped tiles can cause such major issues down the road, so it was incredibly nice of him to do that. It made me feel so good that he was looking out for our whole roof and not just the one spot we asked him to inspect--honestly, he seemed way more aware of what was going on up there than our actual home inspector was! Since the mold was over a bathroom, he gave us a fair price to remove a section of the underlayment and check all the vents in that area, and we were super happy with that plan. Luis unfortunately had a family emergency come up, but he still made sure to coordinate everything with Victor, who managed to get us on the schedule the very day a big storm was supposed to hit. Victor and his crew showed up at 6 AM and were just so nice to work with. He explained the exact damage to us and took pictures of every single step of the process so we could see everything they were doing. It was such a massive weight off our shoulders when he confirmed he found some water damage but it could easily replace the wood and seal it up right then and there. We are so incredibly thankful to everyone who helped us get this done so quickly and we will definitely be keeping them on speed dial for any future roof work!

I hired Four Peaks Roofing in February to replace my roof. I worked with Jason in the office and…read moreBrent, my project manager. We specifically agreed to install the highest-quality underlayment, and I signed the work order reflecting that agreement. The crew began work on a Monday. On Tuesday evening, after they had left, I noticed the underlayment installed on my roof was not the product I had purchased. I checked the packaging, confirmed it was the wrong material, and emailed Brent. To his credit, he responded quickly, acknowledged the mistake, and said he would notify the foreman and owner. I followed up the next morning to ask how it would be corrected, but for nearly two and a half days I received no communication while the crew continued installing the wrong underlayment. There were no calls, updates, or explanation of how they intended to resolve the issue. Late Friday, I was told they were working with the manufacturer to extend the warranty on the installed underlayment to match the warranty of the premium product I had originally purchased. While I appreciated that solution, I was disappointed by the lack of communication during those critical days. After the roof was completed, I noticed several tile corners looked rough and unfinished. I sent Brent photos, and he agreed they needed additional detail work. The crew returned the following week, and to their credit, they significantly improved the appearance of the tile corners. Before the project began, I had also shown Brent water damage and rot around a vented soffit board beneath one of my roof overhangs. Although I later learned they normally do not replace vented soffit boards because they are not considered part of the roof, they agreed to replace mine as a goodwill gesture because of the underlayment mistake. Unfortunately, the first repair was poorly done. The installer used the wrong thickness of material, installed it unevenly, and relied heavily on caulk to fill gaps. The workmanship was poor enough that I removed the repair myself before the caulk had fully cured and purchased the correct materials to replace it properly. Around the same time, I discovered numerous roofing nails and staples protruding through my eaves that had not been there before the installation. Brent agreed this needed to be corrected. A crew later arrived after dark, without notifying us, and repaired the fasteners using flashlights. While I appreciated the quick response, showing up unannounced at our home at night to perform repairs demonstrated a lack of professionalism and respect for us as clients. A few weeks into the project, Jason called to discuss my experience. I explained that I chose Four Peaks because of its reputation and because both he and Brent had seemed honest and trustworthy throughout the sales process. Unfortunately, the execution of the project did not match those expectations. Jason apologized for the underlayment mistake and offered to have their carpenter reinstall the soffit board. I declined because I had already purchased the materials and planned to complete the repair myself. Two days later, however, my wife and I were awakened at approximately 6:00 a.m. by loud hammering outside our home. I found another Four Peaks employee reinstalling the soffit board without our knowledge or permission. To be fair, the second repair was significantly better, but the lack of communication was frustrating. Four Peaks ultimately upgraded the manufacturer warranty from 30 years to 50 years and matched it with an extended workmanship warranty, which I appreciated. They also charged me for the lower-priced underlayment that was actually installed instead of the premium product I had purchased. No other compensation offered. However, when the invoice arrived, it still reflected the original higher price, requiring me to contact Brent again to have it corrected. I was also told I would receive a project completion package after the work was finished. It is now July, and I still have not received it. After recent storms, I inspected my attic and discovered the rotted wood behind the soffit had never actually been removed. Instead, it had simply been pushed inward and covered by the new material. I've included photos showing the tile corners before they were repaired, the protruding nails and staples, the soffit repairs, and the remaining rot. Overall, Brent was responsive throughout much of the project, and several employees made efforts to resolve the issues. I appreciate those efforts. However, the repeated mistakes, poor communication, inconsistent workmanship, billing error, unfinished repairs, and multiple unannounced visits overshadowed the positives. I hope my experience helps future homeowners make an informed decision.
