I do like that there's free parking and compared to the Gold's Gym in Claredon, this location is leagues better. There is also a sauna which is great and there's 3 main floors that offer different options to do your workout. Towels are available but you need to ask front desk for one which feels like a pain. I feel they could just leave the towels somewhere in the locker room but they don't but that seems like an easy fix especially considering that there's a bin for the dirty towels to go.

The manager responded to my 2nd email when I had asked for his manager's contact and then said he will take care of the issue. But that has not happened. A lady who responded to my negative survey on email said dust and dirt on treadmills will be taken care of. I replied to that email that it has not been. It has been months. It is a health hazard in my opinion when you are using the treadmill and there is dust and dirt (from it not being cleaned on a daily or even a weekly basis) near the belt.

Getting service this year has been a nightmare. I replaced the entire mechanism for ~$1200 last year. This year (in March 2026), it detached from the hot tub, rendering it unusable in the prime spring weather. - I spent the last 10 weeks trying to get someone to come out to repair it (offered to pay full price) but no reponse. - Initially spoke to someone in the service center, who told me I needed a "bracket", and that it was on backorder. - A month later (in April), I reached back out to service center to check on status. I was told the original person I spoke to was no longer with the company, and the part wasn't the issue. - I asked to speak with a manager; was told to speak to Jeff. - Left multiple messages with Jeff, but he never got back to me. -Filled out the "service form", also no response. After 10 weeks, I got fed up waiting and went the DIY route. Located YouTube instructions on how to remove the panel. Once I did that, I saw the plywood they used to re-install cover lifter last year (which bears ~150 lbs of load btw) was only 1/8" thick, which would explain why the mechanism failed. I installed a 1" board, then remounted the screws on the lifting arm and closed up the panel. Fingers crossed, this will do the trick. As mentioned, the tub works mostly as advertised; Hot Springs equipment is great. However Capital Hot Tub doesn't seem to care about customers once they've made their purchase. The whole point of paying a premium price is to avoid this kind of hassle, and not have to DIY fix your stuff on the weekend.

I have a little love affair with this YMCA because even though the Reston one is bigger and fancier, it's also about 74 times busier than this one, and that makes this one much more relaxing to use. This YMCA is on a little back street and has its own parking which is rarely full, and is right in the heart of the Washington DC Metro Area - close to several Metro stops, actually, and within walking distance - rather than the Reston one which is way way out near Dulles Airport. I also love this location because it usually is really quiet so even though it's not my favourite and it is partially underground and a little stuffy, it is also very friendly and family oriented and everybody knows everybody, and it's one of the nicest little community gyms I've used. They just about have all of things I need although some of them are falling apart. What they don't have in equipment they make up for in character. There are some great people here both in terms of the employees and be patrons. They have the bikes I like, as well. Only 3 of them, and it's stuffy using them, but it's enough. Oh, and the fact that I was never grilled about whether I was a member, and they never called my home location, is a "big plus", like the flag of Switzerland.

Shortly after, Crystal introduced herself and escorted me to my room. It was my first visit, so she went through all of my info and together we discussed pertinent issues. Her bedside manner, the way she speaks, and her therapy session was so calming and refreshing. I learned quite a few things from Crystal that I can implement in my daily life. She loves what she does and you can really see that. She really does care. I can not wait to see her again!
