We ate here twice at the recommendation of our AirBnB manager. He said it was a great place for pizza and Florentine steak, and he was right about both! Our first night here we had pizza and sat outside. We had the Pizza Nerone and the Pizza al Funghi which were both delicious. We also enjoyed the bruschetta and mixed salad. Our second night we sat inside, and the restaurant is bigger than I thought! It also has a very eclectic yet classic design with lots of interesting paintings and knick-knacks on the walls. For this meal, we had a mixed salad and mashed potatoes. The main event though was the classic Florentine steak. The cut they had was 1.6 kilos. It was so delicious, cooked and seasoned beautifully!!! It was a ton of steak, but worth it to try such delicious Florentine steak. Definitely a great place for two great meals! read more

Totally stumbled on this place as we were walking back from an all day tour towards our Airbnb. This was our best experience of Florence while we were here. Forgot the tour and all the stops we made, this was THE spot for US. As we walked in we were shocked how BIG the restaurant was and how it opened up more towards the back end. We started with a bottle of Chianti Classico a mixed app special and bruschetta. For dinner we opted for the bistecca Florentina so we could truly experience what Florence represents. We got caprese salad, potatoes and fried artichokes to accompany the steak. We greatly enjoyed our meal and got more wine to pair with it. For dessert we got apple cakes and I opted for the affogato. The service was exceptional and we were well cared for. There was sporadic decor throughout the restaurant that let our eyes wonder while we waited for our food. Five out of five, all four of us stated it was the best steak we've had in our lives. Truly, makes me want to only save steak nights for my return trips to Florence. read more

Decided to try this spot out because it was near our hotel and had pretty good reviews. This was my least favorite restaurant during my entire 2-week Europe vacation. I loved the decor inside - very eclectic and unique. The service was good. The prices were on par with other casual restaurants in the area. But the food was just not up to par. I had the pizza prosciutto cotto and it was swimming in oil and so soggy. I even began to think that maybe pizza in Florence was just like that (until I tried another pizza place that was amazing). My friends ordered salads which were good to get some greens in but nothing special. The complimentary bread was so stale we couldn't even eat it. We went to this "pizzeria" specifically for pizza and it was the worst pizza any of us ever had, period! (This is our second time in Italy so we have had pizza here before.) American pizza is 10 times better and that seems ridiculous to say! The crust was paper thin and the sauce was awful. I asked for Parmesan and he said it costs extra! The only place we have eaten at here that charges extra for Parmesan. The service was awful too. No one came to our table for about 10 minutes after we put our menus down. We kept making eye contact and smiling and got ignored. We asked for the check and our waiter walked to the front of the restaurant and stood scrolling through his phone. We waited and waited and got up to walk out and then he handed us the check before we got to the door. Don't waste your time or money. It's a shame as it's a cute place inside. read more

Coming back from a day long winery tour, we were looking for a nice place to get a drink and some salad. We stumbled across Nerone which has been around since 1943 so that had to tell us something. We sat in the back outdoor patio which was very nice. My only complaint is the chairs out there were not comfortable. Service was good not exceptional, the drinks, salads and appetizers came quickly. This restaurant is amazing. A friend of ours called ahead to let them know we were coming, and only speak English and very little Italian. They greeted us at the door and showed us to a special table. The olives and bread were delicious! I ordered bruschetta with mozzarella and sausage. It's the best bruschetta I've had anywhere on 3 continents. They have a wonderful wine selection, and it is reasonably priced. We ordered pasta as a first course and it was so delicious. The main event was steak. This steak is worth the trip from America to Florence. It was full of flavor. I ordered the steak with the spicy sauce. Every bite was to be savored. So amazing. The roasted potatoes with rosemary are the best in Florence. I have yet to be able to emulate them. The staff also came to sing to me, because it was my birthday. The atmosphere at Nerone is calm and beautiful. A true dining experience that I highly recommend! read more

This was the biggest let down. The food is below average and the service we received was horrible. After our evening stroll, we got to the restaurant about 20 mins earlier than our reservation time. When we checked in the host seemed unhappy about it, which made us feel uncomfortable. Our server was surly and unfriendly - she never checked in on how our dishes were and if we needed anything. When we asked for something (whether it was water or some parmesan cheese), she seemed frustrated to do it. Stumbled across this place for an early lunch because we were going on an afternoon tour and needed a place in the area. The good: Magherita pizza wasn't bad, but it was definitely a little oily/soggy. However the cheese and the crust were good, and it was only 5 euros. The bad: Caesar was subpar, and the chicken wasn't tender and was served cold. Also there's a $1.50 cover charge per person, which sucks. Also there's no tap water, so you need to pay $1.50 for a tiny bottle of water. Doubt I'll be coming here again, but you could do worse. At least it wasn't expensive. read more

Delicious! We had the polenta with bolognese and the filet mignon with roast potatoes. It was just the comfort food we needed. The waitress was serious but knew what she was doing, attentive and efficient. We picked this place because we were staying down the block. What a great find. If you come past and a guy invites you in, come on in. Price wasnt an issue, reasonable and well priced. We are going back there again tonight for our last meal in Florence before moving on to Cinque Terre. This was one of the best parts of our trip. read more

Ridiculously bad service. Four of us had ordered and it took an hour to get any food. Had to ASK for bread to get something in our bellies. It was stale. At one point, after everyone around us who came in later got their dinners, we asked about getting our meals and the server person dissed us like all was ok. She came back asking what we ordered. As it took longer and longer to get any food the server would not make eye contact let alone provide any excuses or apologies. When some of the food finally arrived we asked for the remainder of our order and the server snapped that it was the first course and the rest would follow. Made no sense since we we had a hodge-podge of items on the table. Asked for check and she was too busy cleaning up tables to bring it. Offered no break on any items nor any way to make up for the miserable dinner. What a shame for our last night in Florence. read more

I'm not sure if there's been a change to the restaurant since the last review or not, but my experience here was wonderful. I've tried 6 dishes: bolognese-- incredible. Meat was very flavorful and really complimented the pasta. alfredo--very creamy. Pretty good. Spaghetti with tomato sauce--A bit too light for me. Too much taste of the pasta instead of a combo of pasta and sauce Gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce--Very well cooked gnocchi. Sauce was great. Lasagne--I'm not a fan. Tasted like it had nutmeg or something, but my friends liked it. Ravioli with Red Sauce--Ravioli were great and the sauce was a solid complement to it. Great place. Also, the prices were very good. 6-8 euro for a pasta dish and 10 euro for the cheapest bottle of red wine (which was still pretty good). Ended up being about 14 euro per person. read more

My sister studied abroad in Florence and took our family here when we went to visit. They seated us at a great table in the corner with a long bench and colorful pillows-we definitely had the best seat in the house! We started with various appetizers including bruschetta and focaccia bread, both of which were consumed immediately. My sister highly recommended the fettucine bolognese, so that's what I ordered. At first, the positiv part of this restaurant - the interior: The restaurant is much bigger as it seems at the first glance. This is caused by the very small entry at the front from where you can see the rooms only partial. The bigger part of the restaurant is located in the back of the building. The interior emits a very blitheful atmosphere - there are intensive, funny and graffiti like colors all over the walls. The decoration swings between art and trash but is funny too. Unfortunatelly this restaurant has one big flaw, it's staff (and the boss) is extremely unfriendly and not customer oriented (but profit oriented). We were 6 people visiting this restaurant but only 4 of us want to eat something, the others just want to have some drinks. And this was reason enough for the boss to ask us to leave. Staff was rude and the manager unbelievably rude, i asked if I could switch my chair i basically almost empty restaurant and the owner comes in and starts yelling at me you can't switch chairs and not even giving me an alternative. Upon finishing a bottle of Langelo White wine we ordered at Nerone trattoria, we saw a large amount of white residue in the wine glass and bottle itself. The staff and manager were extremely non-responsive to this issue and concern. They did show some other unopened bottles where there was some similar residue, and claimed this was 'normal'. They also blamed us (patrons) as to why we did not identify earlier although it could not be identified earlier as apparently this is at the bottom of the bottle. My concern that this was some type of potential bacteria, glass (?) or other problem with their entire stock of this wine went unanswered and the staff blaming the patron was uncalled for and rude. Although the pizza was good, this ruined our experience at this restauran with this poor service reaction. The manager should have done something besides blaming the patron for not identifying earlier. The staff and manager unconcern was rude and really not-caring. A total disappointment - poor service,food with no taste at all and a real waste of money. There are so many places to eat and enjoy - do yourself a favor and don't pick this one. I use yelp as a guidance for choices but we all know everybody's tastes are different. I have never traveled and had such bad food for the price they charge and Such poor service. I don't really care about the price it's about the dinner and being annoyed how bad the service and food was. That's the real disappointment. Take my advice there are many better places. Came here during Easter 2015. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, my husband ordered a rabbit entree. The food came out too fast, as if it had been previously made and not fresh. The fettuccine Alfredo was terrible, as if it came out of a can. I could not even finish it. But the "icing" on the cake, what motivated me to write this bad review was the very ill-mannered, rude, bully waitress. I ordered the cappuccino with extra hot milk on the side because when I ordered the lighter cafe latte elsewhere it typically had too much milk and we all know the cappuccino is darker than the latte. I comprehend some Italian and could understand our waitress Elysa when she decided to make my "unusual" request for extra hot milk the topic of her mockery. From a short distance I could see her pointing at me and laughing as she tells her co-workers about me and my extra "latte caldo" Then she takes her very inappropriate behavior even further and comes closer (within a couple of feet) to my table and as she covers her face with the menu she starts to laugh and tell her "latte caldo...cappuccino" story to her boss right in front of me!!! She forgot that while she covered her face with the menu, it wasn't sound proof. What a bully!! If you're going to open an establishment in a tourist area you should employ people who have basic courtesy. I didn't spend thousands of my hard earned money planning and paying for an Italy vacation to have some waitress laugh at me for simply ordering extra hot milk on the side. I wonder if that's typical waiter behavior in this establishment but no reviews have mentioned rude waiters simply because lots of tourists don't understand Italian. read more

I agree the service is not what we are used to in the US, but I didn't find them snooty. I didn't try the pizza, so I can't speak to that. read more
