Danny and his team handled everything perfectly. The team was professional, efficient and very careful not to damage the house while moving the bulky items out. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price, especially considering the extra labor required for the large items, like the refrigerator. The service was excellent from start to finish. We had a confirmed arrival window of 8:00-9:00 a.m., and our confirmation stated that we would receive a call 20-30 minutes before arrival. Instead, at 8:59 a.m. on moving day, one minute before the end of our confirmed arrival window I received a call from them. The voicemail said they were "having some issues" and asked me to call back. I was working, so my husband immediately returned the call. Only then were we told that they would not be coming at all that day because movers had called in. They offered to come the next day. We explained that this was a time-sensitive move and that moving the next day was not an option. My husband asked them to find another solution so that our confirmed move could happen that day. They were completely inflexible and unwilling to work with us on an alternative. There appeared to be no contingency plan, no attempt to find replacement workers, rearrange staffing or crews, or otherwise figure out a way to fulfill the move we had booked two weeks earlier. It was essentially: we aren't coming today, we'll refund your deposit. I understand that employees call in. What I do not understand is how a professional moving company can accept and confirm a move weeks in advance, wait until 8:59 a.m. on moving day to alert the customer that there is a problem, and then simply cancel without making any meaningful effort to find a solution. Moving is not an appointment that most people can casually push to another day. We had deadlines and work schedules built around this date. With virtually no notice, we had to scramble to rent a U-Haul, find a last-minute helper through TaskRabbit, rearrange our work schedules, and do much of the physical moving ourselves. We had specifically hired professional movers because we did not want or intend to do that labor ourselves. Instead, we lost work time and spent hours doing heavy lifting because there was simply no other way to complete our move on schedule. They refunded our deposit, but refunding money for a service they never provided is the bare minimum. It does not address the consequences of canceling a confirmed move at essentially 9:00 a.m. on moving day. What makes this especially disappointing is that I had received a quote from another moving company that I actually felt better about. College HUNKS was slightly less expensive and had very good reviews, so I chose them. I deeply regret that decision and wish I had trusted my gut and booked the other company. We have since submitted a formal written complaint asking the owner to review what happened and explain how a confirmed move was allowed to fail this way. As of this review, we have received no response. If your moving date is flexible and you can simply move another day if your crew doesn't show up, perhaps that risk is acceptable to you. If you have a move that absolutely needs to happen on the date you booked, our experience suggests you should think very carefully before relying on this company.
