I went to this big shop with a few friends and I'm so glad we went period to find a Filipino bakery is a rare delight. When we arrived at the shop, we were greeted with smiles and salutations. It's taken me forever to finally try this place. I know it's a chain, but the quality here is really good. Do not sleep on the mamon. MAMON (Ube and Mocha) - we got these fluffy little breads that come in the packages and upon eating the mocha one we were just shocked by how good it was - it doesn't look like much but for the mocha, the coffee flavor is bold, rich, and really hits you in the face and wakes you up in a great way. The chocolate flavor wasn't overpowering and it wasn't too sweet. The texture is very much like chinese sponge makes if you're familiar with that. The Ube one was good too, and had a subtler flavor than the mocha one, so our standing favorite is the Mocha. HALO HALO Solid halo halo, the ice chunks are rather large and so I was chewing on ice for a good portion of it but the layers of flavor are great and they really do make it stand out with their whipped mango topping which is decadently smooth, and tastes of marshmallow with shreds of dried mango inside. You don't lose it either like you would ice cream, as it doesn't dissolve into the milk. Green jelly, red bean and ube layers are delicious. Little bit of flan for good measure. read more

From ensaymada to their famous occasion cakes, it is hard to choose which to pick either to eat at the moment or to take out. I can't remember how often have I tried their famous and people's favorite mango cake and ube cake. Nothing is sweeter than the bakery's cake, always a delight to have anything from the store. For todays visit, got their famous empanada ( box) and the to die for Brazo de Mercedes. The sans rival is very tempting but I said pass this time. Not sure, but it might be cheaper to buy it by the slice. The ube cake was mediocre and drier in comparison. Would not get it again. The staff is very fast and had cakes ready within seconds. The line extends around the corner of the block, so be ready to stand outside for a few minutes. Pretty, pretty good. (Hope you read that in Larry David's voice!) I've never heard of this place until I was around the hood while getting some Jollibee. My Filipino friend brought me to the area and introduced me to some different Filipino cuisines, I had the most amazing day trying new things that I've haven't tried before including items from Red Ribbon Bakeshop. This bake shop had so many amazing items, because this is a newer cuisine for me, I wouldn't even know where to start or how to properly pronounce the names of these items, but the drink was absolutely amazing. It was a mix of shaved ice, red beans, Ube, and some other ingredients that I am unaware of lol but all together they made sense and worked and we're really delicious. I also tried a chicken empanada from here and it seriously tasted like a mini pot pie. All of the flavors were so delicious and the dough and crust was unlike any other empanada I have ever had. Visited an hour ago and was let down by a number of things. Not only do they not have very limited stock of cakes, the cake slices are no longer available. They also do not have Halo Halo. But what's particularly disappointing is service from the staff, I always knew this branch was a let down in the customer service department and weren't the nicest and most polite bunch but this guy Charles kept over talking me. I ordered for the Arroz Caldo with empanada meal as well as Palabok with arroz caldo meal and I asked nicely can you please make that Chicken Empanada for both and he answered "it's always chicken empanada" in a condescending way. Whoa, sorry for being a customer here, Charles. But we were perfectly fine without your condescending attitude. Honestly really turned off. I've been here more times than I could count, have always bought desserts for family events and have always recommended this to non-Filipino friends who needed desserts for special occasions. I grabbed enough treats for days and for my family and friends. The cakes were very good and my family and I liked the wrapped cakes/pastries. The staff here was very nice and friendly. Tonight we tried bakeries from res ribbon as we happen to be in the neighborhood. I bought 2 mocha mamon which are soft fluffy mini sponge cakes. They have them in different flavors like mango, ube and mocha, Since i was at the store a few minutes before closing. I end up buying 2 mocha mamon, we took it home and had it with a nice cup of french brewed coffee. The mocha flavor was there, not very sweet, ice coffee flavor and for $1.75. Stopped by here a week or 2 ago on a Saturday night because I was craving some ube cake after having some Filipino food in the neighborhood and also because one of my Filipino coworkers recommended their Ube Cake once she found out about me loving ube. Beware that parking is very difficult in this area! My fiance double parked while I ran in to get the goodies. I was really debating getting a whole Ube Overload Cake all to myself but they're actually a pretty decent size (~$26, reasonably priced imo) so I decided to just get slices. In the beginning, I didn't see any on display so I asked the cashier (who was very pleasant) with fingers crossed and he actually had 2 slices to go left in the fridge so I bought those. I also got 2 of the Ube Mamon Purple Yam Sponge Cakes and a Palabok Family Platter ($12.99 - it says it serves 2-3 people but I think it's only enough for 2 adults at the most). I shared the ube slices with my parents and brother and everyone loved it! I regretted instantly not buying a whole cake for myself. The sponge cake was also very good (nice spongey texture and just the right amount of flavor) and the Palabok as well.
