Saw "Doctor" Meier for CHRONIC and SEVERE reoccurring Sinus Infection, for every 2-4 weeks my head felt like it would explode from the pressure and I couldn't breathe. He literally stuck a camera in my nose and said there is nothing that he sees and says he cannot treat me for "nothing" and says I am wasting my time scheduling another appointment. Tried to switch doctors with the front desk and was very curtly told they "don't do that there". Excuse me, why??? I go thru the process to get a referral, wait months to be seen, and get refused to be treated and can't even request someone who *might* actually do something ?? Anyways, I was over it and just put it on the back burner to focus on other things. Come to find out for an MRI I had to do for another health issue that my sinuses are solid white with, again, huge polyps. Paper clearly states very obvious polyps and Sinus Disease and I saw the imaging, solid white sinuses (supposed to be clear/not visible) even on a day I wasn't sick at all. I can't even breathe and sleep most nights. So frustrating to have to go through this process AGAIN with another ENT because the one I had already gone to literally refused to do their job. From the minute, they received my referral they quickly scheduled me in for a consultation. Each of the three appointments I had there were quick but effective. Dr Chavellier is so great. She helps keep things light and make you feel comfortable with the whole process. I recovered from my surgery so well and her care is amazing. Their follow up care is also really great. My daughter had been struggling with recurring strep throat for months. We were able to see Dr. Chevallier on a Friday, and she immediately noticed how inflamed my daughter's tonsils were, she described them as "very angry." Amazingly, she was able to schedule and perform a tonsillectomy the following Monday. Dr. Chevallier was incredibly personable and thorough throughout the entire process. The one star rating is strictly regarding a particular physician associated with Nevada ENT, and not about the establishment as a whole. Though Dr. Samara has served many years in his field, I would not recommend him to anyone I know. Sure, he is a good surgeon. There is no denying that he was able to get the job done and do it well. My issue is with his ability to actually care for his patients. I recently got a tonsillectomy done which he was running an hour behind on. (My last meal was at 11:30am on Monday. Couldn't have anything to drink after 11am Tuesday. Surgery scheduled at 4pm Tuesday, did not get started till almost 5pm). I knew that there was going to be pain associated with this surgery especially me being in my late thirties. However, I was not anticipating for my caring physician to be dismissive and unhelpful. The pain and swelling was so bad that I couldn't take my medications without choking. Due to my surgery, I was unable to talk but am fortunate enough to have my husband advocate for me. He contacted Dr. Samara's office numerous times post surgery to express the excruciating pain I was experiencing despite the pain medication that was prescribed. After calling the office and expressing concerns Wednesday, Thursday, AND Friday, we were told that he did not feel comfortable adjusting my medication and that I would have to go to the ER. Saturday comes and I run out of pain medication in the morning. I wait as long as I can bear and finally go to the ER Saturday around 7:30pm. Luckily, I was assigned a physician and a nurse that actually listened to us and addressed my pain. It was the first time I felt any kind of relief post surgery. Dr. Samara was supposed to also see my four year old for the same thing and after my experience, I absolutely do NOT trust him caring for my child. I strongly recommend that you find another ENT specialist if you are assigned Dr. Samara. There is nothing worse than going through a surgery and not being taken care of after. read more

I didn't get seen until an hour after my appointment was scheduled. I have been told that if I wasn't on time, or was more than five minutes late, my appointment was canceled. Cindy, the receptionist, was amazing. However, the medical assistance were not that great. my doctor told me to come back for a balance test, and I didn't get scheduled until February. There were no magazines, to look at, except in the treatment room. There was a drinking fountain, but no cups. I came in as requested 15 minutes before my appointment. I have been a patient of Dr. Mier and before him Dr. VanDuyne for many years. For the last 3-4 years I have been doing well. Recently I had some significant problems occur. First it was almost impossible to make an appointment as they required a referral from my PCP even tho I was a past patient (less that 3 years). I finally got an appointment 2 months out. I called and begged to get in sooner and had an appointment with Dr. Meier yesterday. All of my symptoms are sinus related, I have significant sinus pressure and headache, ear pain and need to pop my ears frequently to relieve pressure, I have had significant facial swelling and had some relief with antibiotic treatment from my PCP. He did a CT, hearing test and looked up my nose. His final diagnosis was since I did not have polyps again and was not a surgical candidate, my symptoms must be migraine related and he sent me out the door with a referral to someone else, so since he could not make $$$ off of me I wasn't worth his time. He didn't really care about my comfort level at all or relieving my symptoms. This is not the experience I have had with him in the past. When did medicine come to this. I know what a migraine is, I had them for years and they have been resolved for 20 years. I have referred patients to him in the past but will never do that again!! The confirmation recording to confirm your appointment says arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. I drove in from Truckee and was there at 3:05 pm. It also says that if you will be 5 minutes late to call them and reschedule, which I thought was bit harsh. First red flag: I waited and I waited and was not in a room till 4:05 pm. Not happy! Second red flag: The MA came in a did the usual few questions before the doctor comes in and asked about a sleep study I did. They knew it was done so why wasn't that report already in hand? 3rd red flag, Dr. Samara came in and within 15 seconds said I need a device to help with my condition. Without even looking at a report or examining me, he automatically diagnosed and said you need this device. There is a questionaire about your symptoms that I filled out and based on that he gives me a diagnosis. Without even looking at a report that should have been on hand. No talk about alternative medicine or simpler options. Just kept pressing about a device. Left there almost 2 hours after arrival and not impressed or happy. This is NOT Sierra Nevada ENT in Carson City. This is NEVADA ENT & HEARING ASSOCIATES IN RENO. 11 July 2023; I went in for my 3-weeks check up; I've been wearing my hearing aids, from 1st thing in the morning, til just B4 going to bed. They are & have been, comfortable from day one. Todays appointment was scheduled for 0900, I arrived early & was admitted around 0815 & looked at by Dr. Megan Williams. She looked at both ear drums & pronounced them OK. I told her the volume was too loud for the right ear & that the volume compared to my left ear was unbalanced. Dr. Williams re-tested my hearing then focused on my hearing aids. She lowered the volume & then balanced the volume to the same as my left ear. Eileen Lancaster, Audiologist came in. She tried to pair my Remove Control Unit which I'd bought off eBay, with my hearing aids then concluded that I'd bought a Version that wasn't compatible with my hearing aid model. She provided with me with 10 sets of replacement Domes when I asked for 'em. I told her that I'd been having some trouble with the Hearing Aid Charger charging the right ear hearing aid which I finally fixed by wiping the contacts with alcohol. EVERYONE, & I mean EVERYONE has known what they were doing, were efficient, courteous, & LISTENED to what I was saying. All 4 appointments - I was on time & was admitted at or B4 the scheduled time of the appointment. Today, I'm attaching photos of Eileen Lancaster, Audiologist, Dr. Megan Williams, & Dr David Mathis who first examined me back on 17 April 2023. Appointment with Dr. Samara assigned by the office. When I saw him for just 5 minutes for a ruptured eardrum clearly shown me on a computer monitor by audiologist with Alpine Center, Dr. Samara was condescending and dismissive after looking in my ear with the old fashioned otoscope telling me there was no hole in my eardrum and if it was there it was resolved. The symptoms are still the same classical of a ruptured eardrum that obviously will not resolve itself without surgical intervention. So he decided I should get an MRI and when I asked of what, he pointed to his head with a smirk. I then contacted the office and spoke with Chrystal, office manager, told her of my experience with Samara and asked to see another ENT there because Samara was out of the question . They will not do that and told me to see someone else not with their office. Basically they prefer losing a customer rather than having someone else in their office upset the fragile ego of one of their own. Also she told me they do not have any other tool besides the otoscope when I suggested that something with a higher resolution would show the ruptured eardrum. I am currently looking for a competent ENT, unfortunately not many in Reno accept my insurance at this time. Medical care in this town is not great! read more

My first appointment here. I made an appointment to have my ear looked at as well as my throat. The first thing that happened was the nurse asked me a question, and I responded. She said moving forward that all my answers moving forward needed to be one sentence answers as they did not have much time???? Then the nurse asked me if I was being seen for my ear? I said no both my ear and throat. She said I had to pick one and which was worse??? I said my ear. I was then taken for a hearing test which I mentioned I had one in the last 5 months. Said I had to have it and they could not find anything. I went back to the exam room. I saw Dr. Chevalier and she asked my symptoms She said there was nothing she could see in my ear. I did mention that I made the appointment for my throat and ear and she also said we aren't talking about the throat. We then had a discussion about my choices for treatment and she said a tube or a steroid nose rinse. I did not feel like I could take my time and ask questions, and she made me feel like the appointment was a waste of time. One of the worst first patient visits I have had and of the worst patient care I have received. read more

I could not breath out of my nose for three years and this man from NYC my home town joined the practice and I was helped by him the same week I went to the office. This man has the best bed side manner and is a very cool Doctor. If you do see him look at his face and you cant tell me he does not look like Fonzie from Happy Days. Not surprising to see why Nevada ENT has a 2-1/2 star rating. My insurance company states I can get other opinions. I wanted to see how this practice would possibly work. It takes six months to get an appointment. My first visit, the assistant did a tympanometry test and Dr. Chevallier did a five minute consultation. She did not look in my ears to see if my left eardrum was punctured, which it was. She said she couldn't tell without an audio test. I scheduled and took the audio test and waited the six months for an appointment with her which was today. She came into the room, sat down without looking in my ears, and began lecturing me, which was more like scolding me. She said ENT's are in short supply in Reno and that I am seeing two ent's and wasting their time! ( see above re second/other opinions.) I tried to explain this to her and I said you told me you needed an audio test before you could determine if I have a punctured ear drum. I had the audio test but she did even offer to look at or discuss this! I got up to leave since she was not interested in going over the audio test results or inspecting my ears. I said I came here to have ear wax removed last year and you did not do that or again this time. I sat down, she got the instrument and looked in my ears. She said no ear wax and there could be a tiny ear drum puncture. I got up said thank you and said I can find my way out against her telling how complicated it was to find one's way to the check out. I said I have lived all over the world including Paris, London, Mexico City, etc., and if I can find my way around those cities I can find my way out the exit here!!!! At checkout they asked if I wanted a six month follow-up appointment. I said NO thank you I WILL NOT BE BACK! With the shortage of ent's, I guess this gives them the license to be mean, nasty, rude, and incompetent. There are other ent's. I was hoping I could trust another ENT after our experience at Zamboni's. Unfortunately Nevada ENT has made it worse. The girl on the phone made me jump through multiple hoops EVERY TIME i called(called 5 times in a span of a week and a half). After FINALLY gathering every thing they needed they tried scheduling my son out till December! I mentioned the emergency referral THEY asked me for to get him in earlier. I was then met with a condescending attitude with giggles and whispers in the background. She then rudely offered a day. After calling her out on her rude attitude I offered to call back. She then changed her tone and I decided to just schedule the appointment. I asked MULTIPLE times if they needed anything else and she reassured me they did NOT. She apologized for her way of talking earlier before hanging up. The day of my sons appointment the same rude girl called and let me know that per their policy she got the "note" from the doctor that HURT my son, and apparently they didn't believe we'd be a good fit for their office. She told me I'd have to shop around(no really?) and said maybe we should go back to Reno ENT. I wonder if she'll pay the out of pockets cost for me since she's so knowledgeable and clearly knows everything about my situation. If the girls in the from are like this I can imagine the doctors. The only decency they had was calling and canceling so I didn't waste any more of my time,and theirs I'm sure, and not billing my insurance for their benefit unlike Zamboni. read more

Do not waste your time or a trip over to these doctors. My third time there I asked all three times, if I could have my nose cleaned out it has worked for me before at other places with no humidity. The doctor just wanted to try other options in which, I was doing before the other two times I've seen him. I had to take off from work (Contract work), lost money seeing these fakes. I am absolutely appalled by how unprofessional, dangerous, and inconsiderate this ENT office is. I am writing this review so that others are aware and do not have to experience what I did. There have been so many outrageous things that have happened when I was a patient here so I will just provide bullet points of each occurrence so that future patients have an idea of what to expect when visiting this office. This is going to be a long winded review, so please skip to the end if you want a quick summary of how this office conducts business. -1st appointment: Saw Dr. Meier for some concerns regarding trouble breathing and experiencing a lump in my throat. Told me to try allergy nasal sprays. -2nd appointment: Nasal sprays didn't help. Dr. Meier instructed me to receive a CT scan at Reno Diagnostics. -3rd appointment: After the scans, I saw Dr. Meier again and he told me that I needed to have the scans done again because he "didn't like how they turned out" -I had scans done again at Renown -4th appointment: saw Dr. Meier again to look at my scans (they were "not ready") and he told me that he would perform a nasal endoscopy instead. Dr. Meier suggested a septoplasty and tonsillectomy. I scheduled the surgery. -5th appointment: Dr. Meier reviewed my scans and told me to go to someone else for surgery to address a concern I had mentioned in the first appointment. I went to Dr. Yamamoto who quoted me $11,000 for non-cosmetic septorhinoplasty. -6th appointment: I went back to Dr. Meier after being quoted $11,000 and Dr. Meier told me he no longer would recommend a tonsillectomy and would feel comfortable performing a septoplasty. I scheduled the septoplasty. He wanted to see me one more time before surgery so I scheduled that appointment. He told me his billing department would call me regarding my insurance coverage for the surgery. They did not. - Had to call Nevada ENT 4 times over a couple of months to make sure they sent my insurance a medical authorization form. I didn't receive any information about why they hadn't completed this task or a notification that they completed this task until two weeks prior to my surgery. They did not complete this task until two weeks prior to my surgery. 11/14/20: They mailed me surgery information for a different surgery than the one I was having. I had to check to make sure they knew what surgery I was getting. Their medical office made a mistake so great that it was going to end in me receiving a surgery that I did not consent to!!!! Luckily, I called them back to check to see that they had the correct information. - 7th appointment: Appointment prior to surgery. Dr. Meier went over all the information and then said I needed one more appointment before surgery. - 8th appointment: Went to my appointment before my scheduled surgery date. Then the scheduler called and said I need another appointment 6 weeks prior to surgery. Dr. Meier was 30 mins late. He told me that I needed to see his colleague because she deals with more complex septoplasties. He said he wasn't comfortable performing this procedure. I told him my concerns regarding my shifted septum during my first appointment with him. He chose to mention that I would be better off seeing a different doctor less than 2 weeks before my scheduled surgery. -9th appointment: I saw Dr. Chevalier. I had an appointment scheduled for 2:30 pm. Dr. Chevalier arrived at 3 pm. Explained that on my CT scan, she found that my nasal bones need to be reconstructed because my septum was compensating for the shift in my nasal bones. Explained that I needed a very specialized facial plastic surgeon to perform this procedure. Had to cancel my surgery 1 week before it was scheduled. Would've been nice to know that when Dr. Meier reviewed my CT scan many months ago. 12/14: St Mary's called about my surgery that was scheduled for tomorrow. Nevada ENT didn't inform them that my surgery was cancelled. This is NOT OKAY. I've had to take off work to make it to all of these appointments. They do not respect their patient's time. I feel like I've had way more appointments than I've needed. This office is extremely disorganized, to the point of it being dangerous. If I hadn't called to double check, I would've received a surgery I didn't consent to AND would've been billed for it. Stay away at ALL costs!!!! read more

I went to Nevada ENT and Hearing Associates for an emergency appointment. A piece of plastic was embedded in my throat during knee replacement surgery at Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC). The Nevada ENT staff was very helpful and accommodating in this emergency situation. In particular, Dr. Ghassan Samara was very helpful in diagnosing the issue, and in scheduling emergency surgery that day. His demeanor and caring approach were excellent, especially compared to how I was treated at the ROC. He fully explained the issues, and was compassionate in his handling of my unusual case. The rest of the staff were also incredibly helpful in scheduling the surgery, follow up appointments, and other details. I would highly recommend Dr. Samara and the staff at Nevada ENT - they were all excellent!! read more

I absolutely don't recommend this guy. He was very disrespectful to my daughter and I. He made very snarky rude comments to us. We went to see if we could get her tonsils removed and he looked at us as if we were stupid for requesting. She gets strep around 6 times a year and her tonsils are very swollen and has a tear in them. Just his whole demeanor and his attitude was disrespectful. We were not happy and were completely in shock in how he treated us leaving his office and we will not be going back so I recommend whoever this reads this doesn't go to him. read more

Was referred from Primary Care Physician with an "Urgent" referral for a severe fungal infection. Total hearing loss in left ear due to fungal debris completely covering eardrum. Was told by them they could not see me for 5 months since I was a new patient. I could go deaf by then, no help what so ever. read more

My primary referred me to this office. I researched each of the doctors and made an appt with Dr. Matthis since he had very good reviews. I'll get into the YELP reviews later. I got to my appointment early. I was seen fairly close to my actual time. All but one of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The office is clean, Covid compliant to the extent that they even have air cleaners running in addition to everything else. This being my first visit here, I was relieved to see all the precautions taken. After the hearing and other tests Dr. Mathis went over the results and took time to discuss options and answer questions. As for the reviews here on YELP, all I can say is I didn't experience any negativity. I will definitely recommend Dr. Mathis and this office. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is the one person who had a pretty bad attitude. No names because all health care workers are under extreme stress and anyone can have a bad day! read more

I actually just asked my Dr. To switch my referral from SIERRA nevada ent to THIS business (NEVADA Ent) because Seirra's office person was rude & unprofessional & kept saying they didnt get my referal when i was in the office when my Dr. CALLED them & my friend (my dr's office assistant) faxed them over 3 times. After getting an emergency referral to Nevada ENT, I waited and waited and waited with a fractured nose just to find out after eight days they declined my referral and no one bothered to even call me to tell me that I had called three times trying to get an answer before my bones heal incorrectly. Caring, quality staff here along with the expertise of Dr. Zamboni, make Nevada ENT the place to have your concerns listened to, diagnosed, and a treatment plan that you, your provider, and your insurance will agree upon. Dr. Zamboni has cared for two of my children with issues with their tonsils when they were younger; one of them had early sleep apnea issues and he found the cure vs thinking it was merely behavioral issues. I was 21 when he treated me for chronic tonsillitis, and now recently, has me on the road to a new life through a septoplasty and UPPP; both of which hurt like hades, but the goal is to no longer need a CPAP that another insurance company slammed me with 8-YEARS AGO that did save my life, mind you, but wasn't HIS treatment plan. This time, life is different and we both got our way. When I saw him for consultation, his "We will fix you!" approach makes you feel cared for. He explains the process, sets reasonable expectations, including a "no guarantee" outcome, which, with research, will tell you as well, that these procedures work but can result in same, worsening, or the need to revisit again risks. For a 70%-80% chance at having control of my life again, I'm willing to take that chance. My procedures went well...he informed my family of my next steps and that I was okay, and I look forward to another professional and personable visit soon to get these stints removed. If my family trusts this organization, FOR YEARS...that should speak volumes. Don't let the front staff ruin your chances at the best medical providers of their class to serve you and take care of you or your friends and family needs. I cannot say enough horrible things about this place. I'm still trying to dig the knife out of back that they stabbed me with. I had my surgery back in September. I had the stints taken out of my nose on a Friday, they scheduled me for a follow up at 8am that Monday. I did not feel well at all so I tried to cancel the appointment. They were closed all weekend, their answering service didn't know what "cancel my appointment" meant. I had them paid in full. Now, 5 months later I get a bill for $277.00 for a 'no call, no show'?!?!?!?! This place is absolutely the worst freaking place ever. They only care about money, and not your health. I had my first appointment here about a week ago. I'm sure the comment section here on Yelp is a little intimidating, but I'd like to reassure you that this place is very professional and the staff and doctors are kind and know what they are doing. I saw Dr.C, and she was very straight forward and to the point- which for me and the pain I have in my sinuses is exactly what I want. No nonsense- just HELP. She was extremely detailed and very thorough in explaining what could be my problem. She even managed to extract some of the pain I have been feeling for months and months and I couldn't have been more grateful for that! On top of how helpful they are- this office is EXTREMELY clean and very well sanitized. I definitely recommends his office for anyone with serious sinus issues. You won't be sorry! read more

I was referred to Nevada ENT by my family physician. Just before my appointment, I read a string of bad Yelp reviews and was dismayed. As it turned out, my own experience could not have been more successful. After completing new-patient information, I was immediately shown into the exam room by smiling and helpful assistants. When Dr. Mathis came in, I explained my problems of a drippy nose and unexplained nose bleeds. He suggested solutions for each and suggested we wait on the next step, which would have been a blood vessel cauterization (Think old western movies with bullet wounds.) Then, Dr. Mathis set things up so I could get in to see him quickly if I needed to. All in all. a pleasant and successful conclusion. I highly recommend. read more

I waited in the lobby for an hour (with my infant child and hungry 11 year old) and hadn't heard anything until I walked up to see what was going on. I am so appalled by this Doctars Office. It is very obvious that either the Doctor or his billing manager does not care about human beings. I am not surprised by the horrible reviews posted. The appointment scheduler is obtuse and hostile. I thought this person maybe having a bad day, and asked for a supervisor. OMG, I believe that the first scheduler was trained by the billing manager to be indigent and obnoxious. At any rate if you are looking for a specialist that cares. Be very careful paying cash, get a receipt, save it. They will pocket the cash and then call you repeatedly over $20 asking if you have a receipt. Already cancelled future appointments for me and my daughter because this business makes a mistake and then tries to have you pay for it. read more

What a nightmare my experience has been with this office. The doctors are wonderful, the staff is horrific. This is not my first complaint, this is an ongoing situation that includes documenting false information in my child's record. The receptionist, biller and referral people are RUDE and nasty and lied. Don't give these people your money - the doctors need to find better staff! read more

Wow! Worst customer service experience I have ever had. Also my first yelp review. I called to try to schedule an appointment and talked with a individual named Rosa. I informed her that I would like to make an appointment since I am dealing with bad vertigo and I asked her if my insurance was covered and told her everything that was written on my insurance card. She then responded with a horrible attitude and then stated saying I have to call my health insurance company and we won't be able to you since we are five weeks outs. I did respond by saying thank you for the horrible customer service and her response was your welcome then she hung up. I would hope the doctors don't have the same attitude with people.
