He ordered a prolactin test (which cost $150) and said he'd call me on Monday with results and next steps. There was some delay over the weekend -- he didn't call personally but sent a letter referring me to a specialist. I was initially frustrated and even drafted a negative review. However, he ultimately sent in the prescription for tamoxifen I had requested. I'm now starting treatment and hopeful it will help prevent further progression while I address the root cause. He listened to my concerns, reviewed my labs, and provided the medication once the additional testing was complete. Grateful for the help and relieved to finally have relief in sight without jumping straight to surgery. Thank you!

Today I saw Melinda Moon RD. Jen helps me keep my appointments at all the VA locations like the eye clinic and blood lab all sorted out. The waiting room is clean and they had the TV on a local channel with the breaking news. Most of us vets were more excited that we don't have to wear masks anymore to our appointments. You don't have to go to medical school to know that! Dr. McKenzie also prescribed a medication to my husband which ultimately would have accelerated his blood clot condition by increasing his hematocrit. The second opinion and the third opinion concurred that taking that medication Dr. McKenzie prescribed was a bad idea for my husband. She assured me she did this correctly. I requested my records. I was shocked when I found that she blamed my Thyroid Medication for the chattering teeth. So she lied to protect herself. I was unable to sue for malpractice due to that. It was her notes against my word. I would be very careful. Yes she friendly a nice. I would say overly so. Emily, her intern asked me a lot of personal questions for establishing as a new patient. She was non judging and genuinely seemed interested and engaging. Dr Hayes is very friendly. Listened and heard (there's a difference) all of my concerns. I love that she is on the same page as me regarding treatment methods with meds or surgery as a last resort.
