    Loving the gelato

Great gelato lived by all including a young girl sitting next to us. Creamy with plenty of flavor and good fresh ingredients. I have cherry with beautiful fresh cherries yum!!

Saw online that they had the best gelato in Rome, so we went to the other location and found it to be closed for the season. We made our way up here in hopes to try it. There are so many options to choose from and they all look so good. I picked the pistachio and black cherry jam. Both were incredibly delicious. I can't wait to come back here again to try other flavors!

Actually legitimate gelato. There are a lot of phony ones, but this one is great! It's also a little out of the touristy areas.

In Italy, birthplace of gelato, feels like every corner has yet another one. Neve di latte feels out of the beaten tourist pathways, but not far from Castel Sant'Angelo. Every single flavor has the ingredients listed and they have a large variety of fresh flavors. Pure chocolate alone they have 3 kinds, making it so difficult to decide. They are really nice and we came during a slower time and they offered to let me try them to help me decide. I'm a dark chocolate fan and the favors were amazing. A small comes with 2 flavors and they fill your cup generously. I went with a chocolate and a cream based berry one which complements each other nicely. Worth a trip out there if you are willing to walk it!

I've tried better gelato at other places. It was still good and delicious, but with all of the amazing gelato this city has to offer, this one wasn't my favorite. Also, the crepe that I ordered really let me down. It was dry and just overall not enjoyable. Definitely overcooked it. The service was great though, and they were very nice, so I'll give them that. And the interior was very cute and beautiful. Overall, a great place to enjoy some dessert, I just didn't think it was as delicious as some of the other gelato I've had in Italy.

This is the best gelato place we found in heart of rome area. It's farther out but it's worth it. The flavors are so concentrated and refreshing Raspberry, lemon, pistachio and fresh cream on top man. But seriously, i tried 5-6 places and just didn't want to waste anymore calories. Go straight to Neve di latte!

Awesome cafe, with fresh croissants, breads, latte's and gelato. There is a wide selection of gelato, with some of the best taste in the area. We stopped by for a quick bite and were happy we did. I recommend the hazelnut gelato and a chocolate croissant with a latte. Your taste buds will love you.

Almost half way done. Pistachio and banana . Amazing !!

Hands down the best gelato I've had in Italy. The flavors are all delicious . This was my second time coming to this place since I've been here in Rome for my trip. And if you're looking for a good gelato place you defiantly have to try this place . The banana and pistachio were amazing . And the vanilla as well. I honestly think all the flavors would be amazing if I was to try them all .

Absolutely divine gelato. I want to box up this entire store and put it in my suitcase and bring it home with me.

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

Tucked along the lively streets of Trastevere, this little spot delivers gelato with genuine craftsmanship and flavors that taste as authentic as the city around you. The first thing you notice is the freshness. Each flavor looks vibrant--not overly piled or artificially glossy--and you can tell everything is made with real ingredients. One spoonful confirms it: the gelato is creamy, smooth, and beautifully balanced. The fruit flavors burst with natural sweetness, especially the mango and strawberry, while the classics like pistachio, hazelnut, and chocolate showcase that rich, deep, true-to-ingredient taste that only well-made gelato can achieve. Their specialty flavors are equally impressive--unique without feeling gimmicky--and everything is served at the perfect temperature so the texture stays silky, not icy. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the cones have that fresh baked aroma that adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The staff is warm and welcoming, happy to offer suggestions, and patient even when you're debating between ten flavors that all look incredible. The atmosphere reflects Trastevere itself--relaxed, friendly, and full of character. Whether you're ending a meal, cooling off on a sunny Roman afternoon, or simply exploring one of the city's most spirited neighborhoods, GELATERIA alla SCALA is a sweet stop worth seeking out. A delicious reminder that some of Rome's best moments come in a cup--or a cone.

If you don't know what real gelato should look like check my photos. First it shouldn't be piled high into mountains. Secondly the colors should be natural. The banana and pistachio gelato in my photos are perfect representations. On to the tasting! My tour included one cone and I got two scoops of pistachio and licorice. We said our goodbyes to the tour and the gelato was so good I wanted more. We ended up getting an affogato and a few more scoops in a bowl the second time. This was very close to where Julius Caesar was assassinated so we walked over and checked it out. When done I couldn't resist and had to go back a third time as I really wanted to try the orange gelato. The owner laughed as he couldn't believe we were back again. The orange was so good! There was bits of orange skin and it tasted really fresh. When I'm back in Rome I will visit my new friend here at the Gelateria!
