5 Stars! Millennium had the most Amazing gelato! The shop was very clean and there were a few spots to sit inside and more outside. The people behind the counter were also incredibly helpful. The moment I saw that they had mango and mixed berries (as those are my two favorite flavors) those were my choices and they were delicious. Millennium was my favorite and most hands down the most flavorful gelato spot in the Vatican City. My husband and I also grabbed a maritozzo con panna (the soft bread pastry filled with whipped cream). It was fresh, not overly sweet, and the bun was really soft. Not my favorite one in Italy, but still very good and fresh! If you're nearby or just passing through, definitely stop in to Millennium! Totally worth it. read more

On our first day in Italy, we wanted to get some gelato or ice cream and found good reviews within walking distance. Everything tasted good that we ordered, including pistachio, raspberry, and mango flavors were great. The staff was friendly and easy to communicate. Interior is great, and they have limited seating inside and a few tables outside. Located very closer to vatican city. Only weird thing we noticed that the staff was tasting the gelato with spoons, and they were washing the spoons and again retasted them. We stopped going after seeing that. Gelateria Millennium is a solid addition to the Roman gelato scene. We randomly visited the shop and loved everything we tried! They have a great location and fill a much needed gelato gap in the area. It's a bit out of the way for the standard tourist so expect mostly locals here. The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly. Staff speaks English and accepts credit cards. read more

This was our first gelato of our trip to Italy, and it made an impression! I told the woman behind the counter that I was vegan, and she told me which fruit options were safe, and that she had two soy flavors, hazelnut and pistachio. She also had a deeeeeeep dark chocolate without any milk. A nutella fan for life, I had to go with the hazelnut/chocolate combo. The chocolate was a little much for me, it was just so dark and it melted so quickly (aka it ended up all over my hands and face, haha), but the hazelnut was the best hazelnut gelato I had on the entire trip. It was so rich and creamy. I'd suggest getting the hazelnut with just a little bit of chocolate, because it's going to melt and the whole thing is going to taste like chocolate covered hazelnuts, which is very, very delicious. Would return for that soy hazelnut gelato any day, it was amazing. Stop here after getting pizza at Bonci, or after touring the Vatican. read more

Like many, this place was my first gelato shop in italy and so at first, i thought this place was amazing because they give you two flavors for two euros (beat that america!) but later on i found out that everywhere does the same but the staff are WAY friendlier and there are way more flavors! I felt very unwelcomed at this particular spot and when i asked to try some flavors, they just gave us the spoon without smiling or anything but talking amongst themselves....no hospitality at all. Anyways, besides this place being only a couple of blocks away from my airbnb, there are PLENTY of other gelato places near by so i think if you can, go elsewhere because they will gladly give you a great service (unlike here). read more

A great place to stop by after visiting the Vatican. Stay on the other side of the street so you're walking away from the Vatican with it being on the left. You'll follow a curve with a narrow side walk and cars whizzing by. You'll eventually see a set of stairs going down. Take those stairs and this gelato shop will be on the left, basement level. The lady thankfully spoke English and I scored the best flavor!! Hazelnut and pistachio with crushed bits of both! Millenium is everything you want in a gelato bar: great selection, great taste, great service, great location, great atmosphere. The refrigerator case is probably about 15-20 linear feet long or so with a couple dozen flavors. Given the selection, it took people some time to make up their minds, but he staff was cheerful and patient the entire time. I went with the classic stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate flakes) and it was delicious! There are five of us and we each enjoyed our selection--every night we went. Before we came to Italy, everyone told us about how good the gelato was. The first place we tried was Millenium because, like so many other reviewers, it was down the street from our apartment. Unfortunately, we expected all gelato in Italy to be this good and we were disappointed time and again at other locations in Florence and in Venice. When you visit the Vatican, take a detour to Millenium. It's left up a slight hill and down a bunch of steps. At the bottom of the steps, you'll find a little plaza where you'll see a bunch of happy people enjoying gelato. read more

This little gelateria was located near our airbnb and we've casually stopped by here for gelato on a hot day, and it turned out to be our best decision. Good: you get to sample 2 flavours and can get two flavours for only 2€!! Coffee and espressos were reasonably priced at 1€ too! The flavours were really good and unique, my favourite were the nutty ones (pinolatta to be specific) and they always have generous portions. I was pretty much eating 2 gelatos here everyday...my poor waistline! There is also free wifi here too. Thank God for Gelato. Millenium Gelateria Artigianale is located a little off the beaten path but in the vicinity of the Vatican. It is in a residential area across the street from Cipro metro station and near the church. My hotel was a few blocks from Millenium. Every day I walked by the gelateria but was skeptical. It wasn't one of the famous ones I have heard about through word of mouth or through the guidebooks. Finally at the end of the day and after a long walk, I did what every other Italian indulged in, I walked straight into the gelateria. There are many flavors to choose from at Millenium. I specifically sought out something refreshing and fruit based rather than something rich like chocolate that would make me thirsty. I got a small cup of fragola e cachi (strawberry and persimmon). The presentation was fun with a tiny ice cream cone sticking out of my gelato. The gelato, soft, was absolutely divine. Persimmon was really the star here as it tasted as fresh as picking the fruit off of the tree and eating it in all of its ripeness. You could taste the tiny bits of peel in the gelato and every spoonful was blissful. It sounds silly to put so much weight into gluttony but Italians really know how to live. Millenium was a very nice find in our neighborhood. Sometimes it is best to stray from the guidebooks and recommendations. I've discovered something on my own and it was really quite special. My apartment was only 2 blocks away from Millenium. SCORE. Millenium is outside of the touristy area, but still very close to the Vatican and the Cipro metro station. It's easy to miss when walking by, but just follow the locals who are walking into down into the store (which, from the outside, looks a bit like you're walking into a sketchy basement. Don't worry.) There's an overwhelming amount of flavors, so have fun sampling the ones that look really good! They don't speak much English, but it's not hard to figure out what most of the flavors are by looking at them. I loved the pistachio and tiramisu flavors, as well as strawberry. Whether you get a cup or cone, they each come with an additional mini cone that just makes it awesome. read more

I always eat my gelato in a cup Cuz it's easy but miss the cone and this place put a small piece of cone in the small cup so I got the best of both worlds! The girl serving us seemed annoyed to be at work. Everyone said good day in Italian and she did not respond in the same way. (My husband is a native Italian as were other customers) She did not smile once at any of the customers. Unfriendly. If she despises her job she should find a different job instead of bringing her sourness to work. This is my first time in Rome.... so I really don't have anything to compare this delicious gelato place to....but it is sooooo good. We tried three different flavors and loved them all! This place is also 5 stars, and I am giving it a good rating because it's near our apartment, but it would be hard and out of the way for most Vatican museum visitors. You have to cross street and turn left, pass by one set of stairs going down, walk 5 minutes and go down another steep stairway and it's first business on left. We are visiting Romefor a week and rent an apt nearby. We have eaten gelato here almost daily, sometimes twice per day and I can say this is very good quality gelato. We also appreciate that the locals families and children eat gelato here unlike many other establishments that are mainly catering to tourists. The prices are competitive.
