Our family (wife + 4 kids under 9) had a very enjoyable time floating the Comal River with NB Toobs yesterday afternoon. The staff was incredibly nice to us giving us pointers on what to watch out for with our little ones with the chutes. We felt pretty well taken care of at check in and on the ride there and back. I've had an amazing experience with the company and the tubing and all the services they offer. I'd love to share tips and tricks to avoid any frustration as it's mostly city policies rather than the company! 1) Yes, they run a Groupon. And they will gladly match the price at the door. As a small business owner that's what I did. In case you end up buying Groupon, you can't reserve online, and you HAVE to purchase it at least 24 hours prior to tubing. So, might as well just ask them to match it at the door and you will support a small business. Obviously holidays don't fall under the category. 2) Please familiarize yourself with river rules. Not the company but city rules. NO plastic, no disposable containers whatsoever! Only bring your tumblers if you want. You can even rent a tube with a cooler, but again, no plastic!!!! 3) Wear water shoes. You can thank me later. 4) They even provided us with ties to tie the tubes of our little ones. Only 2 tubes can be tied together so please respect that rule too. 5) They offer free life jackets! 6) Don't be me, and bring your phone with you. Highly recommend purchasing the waterproof pouch in advance, but chances of you flipping are slim (unless you purposefully try) and you can still bring it as long as you are mindful of one spot of water chute. 7) Tons of parking. They have on site parking, street parking and massive parking long a 2 minute walk away. 8) You will be floating with a TON of other people unless you are coming on a weekday. Then it's slightly less. 9) If you have your own speaker, do bring! It's fun! 10) Upon finishing your float (2.5-3 hours) there will be a shuttle to pick you up, you may need to wait for it for 10 minutes or so. Lots of sunscreen prior to the float. 11) We didn't get a locker, but they held out car keys, so come to check in as if you are entering the river! Have fun, grab alcohol (it's legal) in your tumbler and plenty of water and let this company make your experience amazing! read more

Bought a Groupon for four tubes/$70, didn't read the fine print for the Groupon and turns out you have to buy the Groupon 24 hours in advance (you also can't use on saturdays). Lady at nb toobs said she'd price match for me anyways so I got a refund for the Groupon. Paid $70 for 4 tubes! The city doesn't allow cans or plastic so bring some tumblers, or you can buy a big igloo one at nb toobs for $15. Was not really a fan of this tubing experience! We go tubing at least once a year and this was our first time using Nb toobs. We tried a new place because of the groupon deal - which we couldn't use because the fine print said not valid on a holiday weekend. This was over July 4th on July 6th.. For the price of the groupon, I would have been a satisfied client. For two people with no cooler the cost was $58 which I thought was pretty steep. There were 4 of us tho on one contract. Fun fact, if you have 4 people on one contract, you save 10%. BUT our cashier FAILED to tell us this! When I saw the people next to us receiving the discount and I mentioned it to her.... Her reaction... She told me well I will have to run a return then recharge and its just more steps and its a hassle. Note: There was NO ONE waiting behind us. Parking is scarce and I was a little nervous about leaving my truck on the street but the girl at the desk assured me it would be ok. It was perfectly fine when I got back. Everything went smooth at check in. Everything was explained great and both girls at the desk were very nice and helpful. Got on the bus, got dropped off at the river and floated. I bought a groupon for 2 bottomless tubes. My group of friends and I showed up around 10:30am on a Saturday last week and there was no one inside. However, I have to say that the parking is extremely limited (probably a total of ~10 spaces). You can park at the gas station next door for $5 though. Thankfully, my group and I got the last available parking spot. The check in went very smoothly. They informed us that we just have to wait for a shuttle to come by to get us and our tubes (these shuttles come every 5-10 minutes). She then gave us each a wristband that indicates you get a tube. Then, she explained to us how to know when it's time to get out of the river and what to look for. Overall, I was very pleased with the service! She was friendly and straightforward. When we went outside to get our tubes, the guy told us that we could choose between bottomless and tubes with bottoms even though our Groupon said it was only for bottomless tubes. He didn't seem to care which tube we got so that was nice. The shuttle drops you off super close to the river and you only have to walk less than 3 minutes to get to entrance. We got a good price on Groupon. The service was good, the people are nice, the drivers were prompt, everything worked out perfectly. One exception, parking. There was only thirteen places to park in front of the establishment. Next-door they had parking for five dollars. Inasmuch, the restrooms were nice and clean with enough room to change out of wet suits. Like a said, everybody was nice, prompt, and easy to work with. We will not be returning to NB Toobs. We purchased a Groupon for $25 that was to include shuttle service and two tubes. A couple days before our trip we noticed it was only valid Sunday-Friday, and of course we were going to be there on Saturday. No big deal, our mistake, we will just use the $25 towards the regular price. When we got there we explained that we had made this mistake, but would like to use the $25 toward the normal price. Groupon's policy states, "Your voucher may always be redeemed at the merchant who issued it for at least the amount you paid for it - even if the promotional value has expired." We had even brought our own tubes, all we needed was the shuttle ride. We ended up dealing with a rather snotty girl named Adel, who stated she was the manager. Adel refused to honor the amount paid for the Groupon, telling us we could use it on a week day, or come back after it had expired. We tried to explain we had drove 4 hours for this trip, and certainly would not be coming back to this place if this is how they treat their customers. We also let them know we would be doing the only thing we really could do, leave a bad review. Apparently they are not concerned with their reputation, because they would rather lose customers and get bad reviews, than honor Groupon's policies. Pretty poor customer service, especially considering we were only talking about $11 difference for 1 float down the river. We actually wanted to get the all-day pass, but they refused to sell this to us, stating that the state was regulating the number of people allowed on the river, and we would need to wait up to two hours before getting in the river. If there was time, we could come back, stand in their line again, and purchase the difference. It ended up being maybe 5 minutes from getting off the shuttle, and being in the river. We will be contacting Groupon for a refund, and going to a competitor for our next trip to the Comal River. read more

I never river tubed before so this was my first time experiencing tubing. I had the WORST experience EVER .. probably because I chose the wrong company, so please AVOID NB Toobs if you can. We found a deal on Groupon on June 29th and it was $40 for 1 float with 4 tubes. I contacted NB toobs on FB and they said that I didn't have to buy the groupon coupon and just screenshot the Groupon price and come in they will honor the price. Well we arrived on July 17th at 11 AM and showed them the message, they said NO they're NOT honoring the $40, the Groupon original price was $50 and they are not taking the extra $10 off. They apologized for informing us the wrong info. The reason we contacted them in the first place was Bc we were trying to save money. If you wouldn't honor the discount, WHY YOU EVEN SAID SO IN THE FIRST PLACE. After 15 mins of arguing and speaking to the manager. they finally honored the price. The whole place was really DISORGANIZED. We got in line to get our tubes at 1PM (2 hrs later). bought 4 bottom and 2 bottomless tubes AND GUESS WHAT!? They RAN OUT OF BOTTOM TUBES and MADE US WAIT! They passed out tubes to the people behind us first and I was like what the heck!?. I understand you are a new company that has just opened less than 5 years ago, but your management needs to get together and figure out how you could better organize the place! For example, do not take anymore customers if your tube inventory is low and you need a system of passing out tubes ( don't just skip customers who been waiting in line). When we finished tubing, they have very little shuttle available to take us back since their company is still small and new. If you want a better EXPERIENCE, please consider paying a little bit more at bigger company and you will have a very enjoyable river tubing experience! read more

Of us we didn't experience any problems with the company. Great service etc. Our problem was the experience of floating down this particular part of the river. It's a scene out of animal House. Not family friendly at all. Rap music blarring from everywhere w/ f words every other word, the n word every other word. Lots of drinking. I would leave no stars if possible. I am from KY and was in Tx visiting family. Myself and my cousin took 4 children and were going to float the river. I went in first, paid, signed my part of the contract then went and got my cousin to sign as the other adult (adults have to agree to contract). When she came in with kids and cooler we were told we could not have plastic bottles or cans. We had no idea this was a New Braunfels policy and were not told in advance of paying $140. Since we had not both signed and we were not willing to move our beverages to thermos's we simply said we would just like our money back. The young girls there advised it was "no refunds" as they pointed to a sign on the wall. I explained yes I understood that as in if you arent pleased with the experience but since we never even began it there should be no reason for keeping our money. They called the owner who was in a meeting and said she would return my call later that day. She did not but after I called the next day she did call that evening. I explained I understand policies etc but we had no idea and were not told we could not have our beverages in advance of paying or I would have never paid and started the process. Her position was most locals know about the area and know the river rules and I should have googled it. As I explained I felt I should have been told in advance and since I did not do anything more than pay and await my cousins signature her business was not out time, materials etc and to just "do the right thing" to refund me the $140. She said she would talk to her business partner and get back with me....that was 5 days ago now and nothing....so this am I filed a dispute with cc company and here I am. I totally get rules as I own a small business but sometimes you just do the common sense thing and treat people the way you would want to be treated. read more

Tried them out due to a Groupon deal and now know why they have those deals! The initial young lady that helped us when we got there was very nice and helpful. They were not very organized with their tubes and had very few tubes with bottoms. During our float 2 of the tubes went flat and when we returned from our float back to NB Toobs we were informed that we would have to pay for the tubes that went flat. An older lady then proceeds to tell us that we can not get our keys back until those tubes are paid for, so I asked while still outside if they would only hold the keys that belonged to ones that went flat and she said no they would only hold the keys of those that had the flat tubes. Those 2 individuals were in the same vehicle and so when I went in to retrieve our keys she proceeds to tell me that I can not have my keys and then moves them from the top of the counter to underneath. I of course am not happy and get heated with her as she is now contradicting what she told me outside. After some heated exchange of words she finally gives me the keys and I proceed outside to load up our stuff to get the heck out of there! While outside I am telling my husband what happened so he goes to the sign on their window to take a picture so we would have their information to post a review and the same lady comes out telling us that we need to leave! As if we were planning on sticking around there to hangout!! More heated words are exchanged and several more people from our group get upset and then a male employee comes out and says something to my teenage son and that's when it got really ugly and tensions were high! As we are trying to leave and get everyone back to their vehicles she keeps threatening to call the cops when all we were trying to do before she came out there angry over a picture was to pack up and leave. Found a groupon for this place. It was for $55 for 4 people. The groupon was for Saturday and Sunday only with a 24 hour wait after purchasing the groupon. We called before purchasing the groupon to see if they could allow us to skip the 24 hour wait. The girl on the phone was really sweet and told us to not buy the groupon and to just come in and mention the groupon and she'd honor the price. Well, it ended up raining on Sunday and we decided to go on Monday instead. We asked if they would still honor the groupon price and not only did she say yes but she told us that it was now $37 for four people. She really didn't have to tell us that cuz we were ready to pay $55. Anyways, this place was great! The staff is very friendly. We will definitely come back here next time we're in town. read more

I have had many great experiences tubing on the Comal River. Today's experience with New Braunfels "Toobs" was anything but great. The parking lot has roughly 10 parking spots. Upon pulling up we were directed to an open spot but we tried to park in it the staff started arguing as to wether or not we could, that they may be saving it for an upset customer. Upset customer left and we were finally allowed to park in the lot at the building. From parking the car to getting on the water nearly an hour passed. Although there were not very many people there to tube this afternoon we waited in line roughly 20 minutes. We then waited in line outside the building another 20 minutes before being lined up to wait for the bus to take us to the river (10 min), and then a 10 minute ride to the river. While waiting in line outside for 30 min my husband spoke to a couple of the staff as well as the owner about getting a tube with a bottom in it. They all expressed that they were short on those but that if one came back from the river that would not be a problem. A tube with a bottom returned with the shuttle that was going to take us to the river, when the staff started to unload it my husband asked if I could have it and they put it back in the trailer specifically for us. When we arrived at the drop off the bus driver would not let us have the tube with the bottom that had been put in the trailer for us. After our float, NB Tubes shuttles took a really long time to pick up all the people and tubes, despite running multiple shuttles. Today was a slow day on the river, I can't even imagine what it would be like to use this company on a weekend or holiday. read more

Do not rent any tube with them. My husband rent an ice chest with them along with 6 additional tubes for our family. After reminding to make sure they send an extra bottom tube for our ice chest, believe or not they forgot to bring it in to the shuttle. We had to carry the ice chest on one of our bottomless tube with 2 life vests on bottom. The ice chest flipped out several times and we had to start picking up all our drinks in the river. Not to mentioned we hv 2 small kids with us. When returning, they make us to give them a Long explanation to only refund us $20. The people running it tried everything they could to add to our cost. We had a groupon and they tried everything to talk us through why we couldn't use it. We bought two coolers and both were tattered and wouldn't hold ice longer than 10 minutes. We had to ask for a better cooler and our friend just got another toob with a base in the middle instead of getting and actual cooler and when the service drop us off off they found that they actually forgot to leave that so they ended up with nothing. When asked about it back at the service they told them they couldn't refund it so they would just give them a credit for next time. So if they don't go again the company just stole $15 bucks from them. About half way through our float our cooler tube started loosing air. The float was great but the customer service and experience with them was horrible. It's worth trying another business just for the overall experience. read more
