I think this is greatly improved under new ownership. The dining in experience is a little unusual in the sense that the meal is served in a carton and a paper plate, but you do get a real glass and utensils. The lunch special arrived to my table quickly after I placed my order. As a longtime connoisseur of sesame chicken, I expected a little spicier sauce. This is easily the worst restaurant I've ever been at, don't count on your waiter helping you at all, they will look at you and ignore you and go do something else. Also they are not flexible at all with the menu. the food is beyond disgusting, they couldn't even make a grilled cheese properly. it was raw. it took an hour and a half to get the food out and we waited 30 minutes to even been seen at our table. overall I would never recommend anyone to go here EVER. read more

The service was very good but the food is lacking taste. We ordered a quart of hot and sour soup, combo Szechuan chicken and combo garlic chicken. The hot and sour soup was bland. Same for the Szechuan chicken which is supposed to be spicy. The garlic chicken was sweet and wasn't spicy either as advertised. Egg rolls were served in a take out bag and barely warm. The portions were nice sized as expected for the price. I understand that they are trying to cut their overhead as much as possible but the styrofoam plates and the meals served in a take out box are a negative for the dining experience. Ever since they got taken over, and changed their menu. This has become my favorite Chinese place. I'm from down south where Chinese buffets are all over. I didn't find any of those here, so I got used to ordering takeout. I've not found a decent Chinese place for takeout since I've lived here, and I've been here over 10 years. Had a late lunch there on 3/28/2023. Ordered Pepper steak. It was a huge portion of vegetables are fresh and the meat and sauce were extremely good. The best part is Chinese Food does have a tendency as being too salty. I thought this was great because it was seasoned just right. I also had the fried rice and again very good not sticky and fresh. After new owners took over, we decided to give this place a try again. Wow! We are now on our 3rd return visit and each time was GREAT! Order & pay on the website, pick up in the drive thru window. Family was not disappointed with any of their choices. Owners were extremely pleasant and the food was better than we have had in years. This is our new place to get Chinese now in Howell since we wanted to change it up after getting tired of the old place. The food is not bad here and I give it a solid three stars and find it to be a decent value and get two meals out of one dinner. I usually just get almond chicken and the gravy comes on the side which I prefer but on day two I cannot get that stuff to reheat to a gravy like consistency and it remains almost jello-ish. I am not hating because day 1 it is good so I am not holding day two Chinese against them, although I live reheated Chinese. The egg rolls are good and not the typical spring rolls that seem to be the new fad at Chinese restaurants now. I give them three stars since I really don't think I have eaten at a Chinese place that is 4 or 5 stars and not sure if I could really rate any Chinese that high. I really like it but 3 stars seems like a fair number for good Chinese food. I have not eaten in and only have had take out but they do have a drive thru window so you don't even have to get out of your car. read more

NCK is our go-to place for Chinese in Howell. We have tried (and continue to try) the other places in Howell, but we keep coming back here. Portion sizes are great for the price and the flavors of the dishes are very good. They really do need to spruce up the exterior of the establishment. A little weeding and some landscaping will go a LONG WAY to improve curb appeal! It is my #2 favorite place ANYWHERE for Chinese (I can't drive all the way to Romulus for Chinese from #1). read more

I've been coming here once year for about the last five years or so, actually- could be be ten. I really enjoy the almond chicken and it's so good, I've never ordered anything else. Hot and Sour soup is great if not groundbreaking. Coke is always fresh and well carbonated. Place is clean, service lightning fast, every year. Tried this place last weekend for take out but wasn't that impressed. The meat used was very grissly and fatty. We were looking forward to our pork Lo Mein but the noodles were way over cooked (we're talking canned spaghetti here), and the sauce was like gravy mix. The chicken fried rice wasn't too bad but again used poor quality cuts of meat. My dining companion tells me the egg roll was fine though. When I collected the food, the man at the till was polite, but we have to go on the food. Oh well, guess we'll have to keep looking for our perfect Chinese take-out place. read more

The food here is amazing! I have celiac disease and they accommodated my gluten intolerance easily and professionally. I had curry shrimp and it was cooked perfectly and was nice and spicy. We used to eat here often but I feel the quality of food has dwindled. The gentleman that works the take out drive through will never give you back any change. My order was $12.00 and I paid with a twenty. He handed me my food and closed the window. I thought it may have been an oversight but he does it every time. " I could hear the 2 30 pound fish in the 50 gallon fish tank crying out to me.  I had taken my lovely lady to New China King one of the 2 best Chinese food places I have ever eaten at.  Ancient Chinese secret?  You bet your ass.  I bet there cook book comes from the owners home land.  I heard rumors that they have ancient Showlin Monk recipes from the legendary Emporer's Palace. I must say I've eaten hear for 25 years and this place deserves it's mad props.  Great lunch specials, super handy drive thru for carryout pick up. We don't drink but they have alcohol for all you hungry lushes. I bet the fish in the fish tank want alcohol because they have to be really board in the fish tank.  I wanted to take them for a swim but the owner probably would struck me with a kung fu death punch.  I got the breaded almond chicken.  My lady got some Mongolian beef but the beef really wasn't from Mongolia.  We shared plates and she said my almond chicken was to die for.  She ate most of it before I could even take a picture. I had to eat her delicious plate just to fill up. The service was good and the place is nicer than your average Asian diner.  If you are in Howell that is the place to go.  The other Chinese restaurants around suck unless you go to Brighton but that's another review. Recently we ordered lunch from work & found a cooked roly poly bug, complete with legs, in our eggroll. We called to see if they would refund us our $$ (we paid 27.00 for lunch we threw away) & they asked if we were sure it was a bug. We said yes (we saved the bug in a bag) & figured they would at least refund us. Instead they nonchalantly offered us 10 % off our next order. Whenever I venture to the outlet malls, I make it a point stop by here to grab some food on the way home. I love their gen chicken and almond chicken. Delicious food and courteous staff. Its a small family owned business and you can tell they take pride in their service! Plus they have a little drive thru window! I have moved away and I am desperate to find any place that can make my almond chicken the way this place does, the place across Grand River made my daughter who was 6, as well as my self very ill, because people did not wash hands after using the restroom. Disgusting with a capital GROSS!!! Cold everything, the most awful rendition of steamed dumplings I've ever endured. Which mind you was half of one of the six and was offered no apology or compensation for not eating the rest of them, which they took from the table. When we asked for a side of hot mustard to go with our eggroll that we were taking home unfinished, we were asked to pay an additional fee. But get this... if I ate the eggroll in the restaurant the mustard was free. That is just bad customer service period.
