I got my hair done for a funeral that I came home from and I have never gotten a worse hair cut in my life. I went it to fix a previous hair cut I had gotten and all that was done was enhance everything I didn't like about my past hair cut. I now I have bangs that I never wanted. I've been here a few times in the past for manicures and pedicures. They've done a nice job but today really sealed the deal on my future with this business. Their customer service over the phone is horrendous. I just called and asked about availability next week for two customers and was told they're all booked. When I asked about other day and time options she seemed frustrated (huffing, having an attitude) and told me there aren't enough people working the hours I inquired about. I didn't ask about staffing levels, I asked about availability for services I'm willing to pay money for. Had she just left the attitude out and said that no openings were available, I can understand and respect that but that attitude was entirely unnecessary. I'll be staying away from here if that's how they're going to speak to interested customers. read more

This review is for nail services only--haven't had anything else. Would give 0 stars if I could. List of issues, do with this information whatever you see fit: 1. Person calling to confirm the appt mispronounced my mom's name (we were getting mani/pedis together), and when I corrected her, she was silent for a beat then just kept talking without acknowledging the misstep. Minor, but still indicative of poor customer service. 2. When we got there and checked in, the girl at the front desk said "ok, you can go back." Um, where the hell do I go? Where is back when I see two different directions I can go and have never been here? After seeing we were confused, she finally pointed in a direction. 3. There are 4 pedi chairs; two next to each other on opposing walls facing each other. It is such a tight fit that whenever someone needs to get up, everyone needs to stop what they're doing to make enough room to let the person move around. Also annoying--we specifically wanted to be seated next to each other so we took a late appt to do that, but when we got there we were seated opposite one another making the appt time pointless. 4. The chairs are clearly worn and the area looks like it needs serious updating. 5. The girl barely cleaned around my toenails--not clipping or cleaning any of the calluses or dried skin (not that I have a ton, I'm talking basic pedi facts here). Didn't clean under the nails either. Nothing between the toes during the polishing either. So I basically gave myself a second pedicure when I got home. 6. The situation with the mani wasn't much different except my mom was smart enough not to get one. No nail soak, no cleaning under the nails, a very poor filing job, no buffing. She didn't even have me wash my hands after the filing so nail dust was everywhere. I literally said I had never had a manicure like that before and she didn't even flinch. Not to mention, she had long fake nails and they were filthy underneath. Sheer horror when I saw this well after most of the "work" was done. I would have skipped the mani had I noticed earlier. 7. All of this was definitely over priced. The absolute worst was that my mom used a gift certificate that when purchased, said it would cover the cost of ANY pedicure. Why then did we have to add an extra $5 to the cost of her service? And the same person ringing us out was the same girl the certificate was purchased from. When I asked her about the difference she said that was just the price, like she was shrugging and had nothing to do with it. I know it's only $5 but it's the principle. Don't lie to people. Go to your neighborhood nail joint and skip this place at all cost. Worst nail services I've ever had. I'm not trying to be dramatic, just my experience. read more

I've been getting my hair done here many moons now and I highly recommend this salon for all you spa spoiling! The compliments from husband make me blush. Strangers when I'm out and about will comment on how beautiful my hair is. I've never been disappointed. I have fibromyalgia and every one treats me so well that I'm never tense but extremely relaxed when I leave. I went in to get a cut and color yesterday and came home in tears. the young woman who cut my hair completely botched the job. When I complained I was told I should have seen someone else. The whole time in the chair she is trying to upsell other products and services instead of paying attention to what she was doing. This has been the worst haircut experience in all my years , and I have had some bad haircuts. This is the first time it was bad enough that I want to warn other people. Avoid this place! I should have checked the reviews first. I am not the only one to express extreme dissatisfaction at the skills, services and attitude of the people in this place. The cashier was particularly rude when I expressed my concern. She basically told me to go somewhere else. One star is more than this place deserves. DON'T GO HERE! read more

A week ago, my daughter went to this salon to get a quote on a simple ponytail hair-do for Prom. She was told it would cost $45. She shows up today and is now told it's $65. The point here is not about the money, at all! We have the money! It's the principle behind it. When you quote someone a price, you stick to it. Not change it to suit your needs. To have your Prom ruined within 4 hours of having to be ready by ignorant money hungry people is disgusting. As an adult, you should be ashamed of yourself to upset a girl on a special occasion as such. And yes, I did talk to the Manager Laurie, she has a lot of training to do with her staff. While she did offer for my daughter to come back at a later time, we didn't accept. Why? As you know, on special occasions, the entire day is booked accordingly. And the damage is done! I went in for a one hour massage because my back was a little tense. I talked with the therapist prior to my massage and we talked about my areas of need and my goal for the session. The massage was below average, she wasted about 20 minutes "applying pressure" to my neck and stretching my body but there was really no effect. I would have preferred more hand movement. She hardly spent any time on my back and I was not feeling a big difference in my soreness. Addition, she left the oil from the massage on my body rather than wiping it with a warm wet towel. Usually I would rate a massage from here 4/5 because I've been to better spas, but this one was about a 2. Afterward, we had a conversation about how to stay relaxed. On the upside, I had my hair and makeup done last year there and really liked it. I even opened up the salon 20 minutes early for me to accommodate my appointment. read more

Let me tell you about the three times I went here. First time: High school prom updo. I was very happy with this experience. I had no idea what I wanted done and the stylist told me to trust her judgement. I did and it was absolutely fabulous. Second time: Came here to get a massage. I had a back injury a year prior to this and also had a lot of stress in my life at that point. My mom decided I needed to relax and a massage would be a good way to do that and work out my back. The masseuse (sp?) rubbed me the wrong way (no, not literally). Right off the bat she said I was too young to get a massage because I didn't have any stress yet since I'm not an adult, and apparently adults are the only ones that could have stress (I was a 19 year old college student. Really?). After that comment, I didn't really want a massage anymore, but I went through with it anyway. I guess she did okay but I was too upset to enjoy it. Third time: My mom decided to treat me to a haircut and color. My hair is dark brown/black and I asked for a lighter, almost caramel color. Just something to warm it up for the Spring season. What I ended up with was hair color darker than what I had, if you can imagine it. I'm talking jet black. And the haircut wasn't good either. My bangs were cut straight across and my hair was cut the same way. I looked like an anime girl. It was horrible. I asked her about the color and she said "Oh it will lighten up in a few days. It just always looks dark to begin with." Um, do I look like an idiot? That's not how hair color works, sweetie. I had to go get that "color out" stuff to take away the color which turned my hair orange/blond. Then I had to get a box color and put it back to my normal shade. My hair was horribly damaged for a while. I'm glad other people have had good experiences here, but there's no way I'm going back. read more

Take your Brazilian somewhere else!! Ouch! They burned me so bad with the wax it took me weeks to heal. Unprofessional and very unsanitary. The women had me sit up which caused me to flinch more and when the wax didn't remove properly she blamed me for flinching! Any professional knows that is not the way to position someone. She also used baby powder before applying the wax, what a mess! I wanted to walk out of the room so many times but thought I could just tough it out. Never again, I felt so foolish. Definitely a 5 for Niza the nail tech. She is friendly, calm, and a great conversationalist. Receptionists are hit or miss when it comes to service. There is one that is super rude and condescending. All the others are friendly. During a pandemic, they allow visitors to come in with the guest. For example, men are in the salon area hovering over the hair stylist while their woman gets their hair done. These additional guests should not be allowed. How is everyone supposed to relax? Last weekend, my credit card was charged twice. Receptionist that took my card was too busy chatting it up with other folks. read more

I've been wanting to get a facial and spend some cash on pampering myself....so, I played hookey from work and spent 3 hours at the spa! This was my first visit here, but I have friends that come often and love this place. I will say, when I called to make my appointment - the person on the phone was not very friendly. I had questions, but she was rushed and you could tell she didn't want to spend the time answering me. I was a bit put off, but figured I would still go. My thinking is, this is a spa, your interaction with them should always be calming. The phone call was not. I went today for a facial, mani, and pedi. They have a package for $117. I never had a facial before, I was excited and nervous. I had the lovely Grace for my facial and she was amazing! So nice, funny, personable, professional - and made me feel wonderful. My skin has never looked or felt so good when she was done. I highly recommend!! I then moved onto my pedi & mani with Katina. She was fun! I felt bad that she had to work on my nasty feet and chewed up fingernails. We laughed about it, and she worked miracles on me. I am so happy with the results. I booked another appointment with her in a month! The place inside is a bit outdated - could use to be freshened up and made a bit more modern....but it was clean. After a catastrophe with another salon on Thursday, I called New Day on Friday and told them I have a hair emergency and my wedding is next week. They were able to squeeze me in the same day with a lovely stylist named Keith. What a miracle worker!! Keith highlighted and toned my hair and there is no trace of the awful highlight job I got the day before. He was funny and nice, but not incredibly chatty asking every detail of my life, which was appreciated. Keith and I are going to be friends for a long while. If you are a new customer, remember to bring cash for a tip as they do not allow you to tip on the card. I think they made an exception for me because it was my first visit, but its good to know for the future. read more

Went to get my eyebrows waxed by Gia. She started to wax my eyebrows without even asking me what I wanted. She then proceeded to insult my eyebrows, skin, acne, etc. during the appointment. She was very rude and condescending to me. Then when I looked ay my eyebrows when she was done one of my eyebrows was almost gone! One looked great I have no idea what she was thinking on the other. If you are a bride and are looking to book your bridal party updos here...beware of hidden deposits! Here's my story: In May 2008 I made an appointment for myself and my bridesmaids to have our hair done at New Day Spa. In the time between May 2008 and Feb 2009 I called New Day Spa twice to make changes to the appointments. During these three separate occasions there was no mention of a deposit being required. On Feb 25, 2009 Laurie, the owner, called me to inform me that a deposit was required in order to secure the appointments. I was surprised to have been told I needed to put money down because a deposit was never mentioned in the past. I looked on the website to see if information existed about a deposit, but nothing was listed. No written contract was given to me stating that I needed to pay a deposit. I am not sure why a deposit wasn't asked of me the day I made the appointments. If it was, then this situation wouldn't exist. As it stands currently, a verbal contract between myself and New Day Spa was broken. What upsets me the most is the fact that this issue has put me in a difficult situation. Now, less than 3 months before my wedding (on a holiday weekend), I need to find a new salon to do hair for six people. It should also be noted that I tried to resolve this situation between myself and the owner through email, but a response was not given by the owner. So, I was forced to turn to the BBB. In an economic time like this, I am shocked to experience such unprofessional behavior from a business. read more

I'm surprised there are only 2 reviews here, I mean they have won awards. (no matter how sarcastic that sounded it wasn't) This place is nice. I only go here for one reason...NICOLE. She is great. I have known her for years and she really listens to you. To be honest I wouldn't be going here if she wasn't there. The salon isn't bad or anything, but it is a drive out to the burbs that I can otherwise avoid. The salon is cute and clean, and the costumers are mostly "soccer moms". Sometimes these soccer moms can be annoying. I feel like the front desk girls are annoyed and rude when on the phone but when you walk in, they are sweet and greet you with a smile. This is understandable in a way considering that they are probably answering the annoying phone all day. I relate. Like I said, I wouldn't be going here if it wasn't for Nikki, and when she goes on maternity leave I will have to go somewhere else. :( I also had my eyebrows done here & it was pretty nice. I've been experiencing breakouts on my chin. She addressed all of my questions and gave me great advice on how to go about clearing up my skin. I am 71 years old and have never written a bad review. This review is related to the treatment that I received from the Front Desk person. I have been a customer for nearly 2 years going an average of 2 times a month, and have never been treated so rudely by a member of there staff. It began when I requested to pay for my services prior to receiving them which is something I had been doing for months. When I advised that this was something that I had done in the past, she visibly became upset however she did accept my payment. I said you are welcome even though she had not acknowledged my payment her only comment was you seem upset with me. I needed to make another appointment and after making the appointment she never acknowledged my presence in any form or fashion. It really was a very demeaning experience. I go to New Day for everything! I used to go to Mario Tricoci's Downtown but it was a hassle when I needed my hair done on weekends. I switched to New Day 3 years ago. Love, Love, Love! My Best Friend got married November 1st and the whole bridal party got their hair, makeup, facials, everything taken care of. Got an eyebrow wax which was done very well by Gina and I was happy with the results. I went to pay but they refused to let me tip on my credit card. When I suggested that they change their system to allow for tipping, the woman running the reception desk came back at me with attitude saying "Well, that's not how we do things here." I had to walk over to Walgreens, get cash back, then walk back over just to give Gina a tip for her hard work. I doubt I will be back again despite the good job. I was new to the area a year ago and I stopped in to get my eyebrows waxed. Both Grace and Kashka are amazing! Friendly and thorough - I won't go anywhere else! I also needed a haircut but I have curly hair so I'm always wary of new places. Danielle did a great job and was super nice. With the exception of the noise level (but it's busy, which is always a good sign) I would definitely say go here! Nicki has cut my hair a bunch of times and every time I have loved it. I am a little disappointed Nicki's availability and have since moved on to a new hair dresser. I've never been to this place and had no idea what I was getting myself into but anything was better then the orange hair I had on top of my head due to horrible bleaching. I was appointed with Ashley and she seriously saved my life and hair! She fixed the orange to a nice blond which was ombred at the bottom. I booked a massage and a haircut. When I called to set up the massage appointment, I confirmed the therapist was licensed and able to provide a receipt for my insurance. Fast forward, they refused to provide one after it was completed. Actually said to me. That their type of clients aren't people who need receipts. What does that even mean? My haircut is one of the worst I've had in recent memory. I asked for a trim of the ends, not complicated. Keep my layers and trim the dead ends. She cut six inches off and took out all of my layers. Bragged she had been cutting hair for 30 years...yeah and has not taken a class since. The people at the front desk are completely rude. Unbelievable in this day and age to treat people that way. Thanks to Sandra Coffey I no longer suffer from chronic lower back pain. She has been able to eliminate the chronic pain I've lived with for 4 years! I no longer have to rely on expensive perscription drugs and physical therapy. I have never heard of this place until my boyfriend bought me a gift card here. I have had the regular mani, mini-mani, pedicures, and a few facials done. Everything has always been great, but I recommend the mini mani rather than the regular mani because you just can't beat the price. By the reason I come back here is because of the facials, I have had problem adult acne for as long as I can remember and this is the only place that clears up my skin. As a student, I still have flare ups and come in here every so often to have them take care of it. I have tried other facials in the area and nobody does them like here. If you have problem skin especially with acne, whiteheads etc, don't go anywhere else, but here! The only down fall is the price, I wish it was cheaper, as a student I wish they would have deals so I could go more often. read more

I'd give this place NO STARS if I could. I went here to get highlights, and when expressed that I was unhappy with the result, the stylists yelled at me, got in my face, kicked me out, and CHASED ME OUT TO MY CAR THREATENING TO CALL THE COPS ON ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE MY HAIR!!! We didn't use any heat on my high lights and it didn't sit long. Once it was dry I could not see any highlights, it just looked like she colored it a pinch lighter. When I tried to calmly and quietly tell her I didn't like it, she threw her stuff down on the counter and walked away from me. Then another stylist got in my face and went on and on about how bad my hair was- but the stylist did a good job. When I tried to tell the woman at the desk that I felt the stylists were being rude, the other stylist got in my face and told me to "get out and don't ever come back!" I would have paid for the haircut since that came out okay, but when I tried to pay, the stylist threatened to call the cops on me. When I tried to walk out the door, the stylist chased after me and continued to yell at me and call the cops all the way to my car.
