I stopped by Mak's in Franklin yesterday to try their North Shore 3-Way Roast Beef. First impressions were excellent. The restaurant is beautiful inside--clean, modern, and very inviting. I was also impressed by the young ladies working the counter. They were friendly, welcoming, and constantly keeping busy cleaning, stocking, and taking care of the restaurant. It was refreshing to see employees focused on their work instead of staring at their phones. As for the roast beef, it was just okay for me. When I order a North Shore beef, I'm hoping for that tender, juicy roast beef with some pink in the middle. Mine was cooked well done with no pink at all, which wasn't what I was expecting or hoping for. The sandwich wasn't bad, just not the North Shore beef experience I was looking for. That said, one visit isn't enough for me to write a place off. I'll definitely give it another try, maybe during a busier lunch rush or on a Saturday when the roast beef is turning over more frequently. I'm also looking forward to coming back to try their breakfast, which looks promising. Overall: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and worth another visit. read more

My friend and I returned to Mak's after previously having breakfast of crème brûlée French toast and I believe corned beef hash Benedict, which were both superb. I had recently read a review of the roast beef sandwich and wanted to try myself. Again, Superb! Our server was excellent as well and the restaurant was clean, comfortable and had tons of parking. I ordered a roast beef sandwich with onion roll and works. Minus the mayo. I hate leaving bad reveiws. But this was so gross I had to throw away. I live in Franklin so sandwich was eaten right away. Bread was wet and super soggy. All I could taste after first and last bite was BBQ sauce. It was too expensive to be disgusting! Also upon walking in I should have listened to my gut. Could not smell any food. Only bathroom foul stench. Save your money and do not go here. read more

Omg Mak's pizza is sooooo good (so is their roast beef!). The cheese on their pizza. I don't even know if this is a thing but it's so gooey and chewy. Omg. This is now my fave pizza in town. We usually get meat lovers or pepperoni. Great place. Breakfasts are great also! read more

I have been getting take-out from Mak's Roast Beef weekly for many years. The food has always been great and I loved getting meals there. I don't know what changed but the last two times I ordered the food was horrible. Recently I ordered an Italian Cold Cut Sub, which is usually delicious with high quality meat, not this time. I could tell at first bite that something was wrong. The bread was burnt to a crisp and the meat was not what they usually serve. It was salty and chewy with no flavor whatsoever. The sub went into the trash. Since their food had always been good I thought they were just having an off night. The next week I ordered Chicken Salad, which is usually creamy and full of flavor, not this time. The chicken salad consisted of large, rubbery, chunks that I could barely chew and were so salty my mouth started to burn. That went into the trash as well. I'm so disappointed that Mak's Roast Beef is now serving low quality food. I can't keep spending money on food that goes into the trash. Sadly, I will have to start looking for a different take-out restaurant. read more

Place was clean, food tasted good, but the super beef was small. I love super beef and have had it all over the Boston area and I legit think that maybe the cook didn't read the order right. It was literally about half the size of every other place I've ever ordered from. Other reviews same the same thing. If you are going to name your business with roast beef in the title, your super beef has to be flagship level and I left hungry. read more

Our go to place for pizza and calzones here in Franklin! Consistently great food and service. My favorite is the spinach and feta calzone. It's stuffed full and delicious every time. Mak's is our family's go to place for take out! Don't let the name fool you as this place has so much more than just great roast beef. Their pizza is the best in town and subs/salads are also excellent. Darren, the delivery driver, is always so pleasant and helpful!! I was kinda disappointed. It was new i get that but very pricey. We had 2 coffees, pistachio muffin and a order of corn bread that was confirmed to be homemade. The cornbread was good. But the muffin was dry even after putting butter on it. We told server about it but all she said was well don't make them in house. We then asked about the HOMEMADE corned beef hash. Found out it wasn't homemade. It was canned and they added potatoes ,peppers, onions and some spices. Not what i was hoping for. Disappointed! Need to correct misconceptions on menu. Server was good. I am hoping things improve with time. We will try them again in about a month after they get some of the newness kinks out. read more

Takeout of a large roast beef sandwich and order of fries for my teenage son. We usually get him Jersey Mikes which is next conplex down the street. Looks like good place for sit down breakfast but the sandwich was poor. Son only ate a few bites of the sandwich and at the fries. Nothing special for the price. Small amount of beef, bun was nothing special and flavor not great. Don't bother with roast beef here, at least not takeout. read more

Really bland chicken cutlet sub. Off tasting hollandaise sauce. Mediocre steak sub. Won't be getting food from them again.

Always get a great meal. The calzones are huge. The spinach and cheese is our favorite. so big we split and still have half leftover. Steak and cheese is stuffed with steak so good. Breakfast is great too. My husband loves the eggs Benedict. The fresh fruit is huge and delicious. The staff is friendly and fast. I love that it is clean and fairly new and updated restrooms. We tried Mak's for breakfast and it was a huge disappointment. We got the creme brûlée french toast, steak and eggs, and an eggs benedict. The portions were tiny and left us hungry. The hollandaise sauce tasted sour and the poached eggs were over cooked to a gel consistency. The french toast tasted nothing like creme brûlée, and the steak was nothing special. With much better breakfast options (both in value and flavor) in Franklin, we won't be returning to Mak's for breakfast. read more

Had a disappointing experience. Ordered a large pizza and onion rings for delivery. The initial delivery time was about an hour after the order was placed (which we expected). But, our delivery took much longer and they forgot the pizza... and the onion rings were cold. Giving two stars because the staff was nice and they remade everything so it would be hot when they delivered our food again. However, onion rings were undercooked and pizza was only okay. We have had their sandwiches before so from now on we will probably avoid using delivery and stick to just the sandwiches. read more

Beware if you order food to go they don't start cooking until you get there,, they will give a pick up time (10 minutes) and take your money once you get there then tell you it will a few more minutes while they start cooking your order !! That's not the way take out food works !! read more

Staff is extremely rude. We ordered take out and when we got there we decided to eat in and the girl behind the counter got verbally upset at this. I don't know why. It was a last minute decision to eat there. They have seats for patrons to eat. I don't get why she was so upset about it. FINALLY SOME GOOD ASS PIZZA IN FRANKLIN!!... AND THAT ROAST BEEF IS BOMB!!... Highly Recommend this place the ingredients were fresh and they tasted bomb!... the pizza isn't the lame cheap classic Greek style or whatever.. the dough is doughy , soft and has a good under carriage. I got takeout pizza there a couple months ago. It was so greasy, the bottom paper in the box was soaked. The cheese wasn't melty and gooey, but very chewy and greasy. I ate one piece because I was hungry, then threw the rest away. Will not be going back. read more

My family and I always like to try new restaurants to see what they offer and whether or not the food is any good. I ordered the premium roast beef sandwich which was very good but expensive. My son ordered the steak and cheese which turned out to be a disappointment. The steak was dry and had a crumbly texture, unlike other places were the steak shredded and juicy with the cheese placed on top of the meat. My wife got a cold-cut Italian sandwich and it was just plain pitiful. It basically consisted of bologna and lettuce. I know the difference between mortadella and bologna and the sandwich had plenty of the later but not much of anything else. So, $45 later we left kinda of disappointed. We've had better experiences at Subway then Mak's. read more

Stopped at the Franklin store for a roast beef sandwich yesterday and had a horrible experience. I will start by stating that I grew up on the North Shore eating Kelly's, Bill and Bob's and Big Fred's roast beef sandwiches. What I got yesterday was not even a close replica. I ordered a big beef, rare with sauce. What I got was an onion roll stuffed with a mush of brown meat with no sauce. Shame on me.....while waiting for my sandwich, I saw one of the kitchen staff load up the slicer with a pile of previously sliced meat under a fresh roast beef....I assume it was leftover from the day before. From a store that touts "Roast Beef" in it name to serve such crap is a total shame. read more

Ordered from Mak's last night for the first time. The review from my boys was that the Steak and Cheese and Pastrami Plus subs were fantastic. They both were huge in size with lots of meat. Even though I was only there for takeout, I noticed the dining area was large and nicely decorated. Looked brand new! Next time I'll bring the gang with me. Worth a try! read more
