We've been hearing great reviews about this place. We gathered up our family and made reservations for 10 for brunch this morning. It was such a lovely place! I can only imagine how much better it is when the zoo is open and you can see the animals! This restaurant is part of Southwick Zoo. The brunch is offered for a limited time, seasonally. From the breakfast staples like eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, to crème brulee French toast and waffle station, an omelet station, all of the bagels and breakfast breads, and lunch options from chicken & sausage marsala, mashed potatoes and even baked haddock... there was something for everyone. Save room for the dessert station which had ooey gooey cinnamon rolls, cheesecake, cookies, mousse and so much more. Today they were offering a special Bloody Mary where we got the glass to take home. My husband couldn't resist! Waitstaff was attentive (thanks, Meagan!) and the environment was cozy but spacious. I would give it a 4 star, but this is the second time it happened. They take it upon themselves to disregard the tip you gave and adjust it to 18% . If we felt the service appropriately deserved it, that is what we would have given. Servy is extremely slow. Last time we sat at a table for 10 minutes before the bartender asked us if a waitress had come to us, and then another 5 minutes to get one. With the overpriced menu, we would expect better service and certainly don't expect someone to override the tip we gave. My advice is to pay cash here if you want to make sure you are paying what you wanted to pay. Keep your receipt and watch, if you give 15%, they make their own adjustments. My boyfriend and I were driving home from Marlboro on a Sunday and we found this place on our route. When we pulled in, I was a little skeptical -- we didn't realize it was directly next to the zoo and the parking lot didn't have a lot of cars.... With that said, everything was GREAT! We sat along the windows with a view of the petting zoo; it was so fun watching the goats run around!! We ordered artichoke dip and bbq wings as apps and they were delicious! Ambiance , service , good food. ALL OF THE ABOVE ! We went on a Thursday evening for dinner and a cocktail and my friend has a gluten allergy which was especially accommodated by this place. Our server, Nick, was very clear on what dishes were and were not cross contaminated and his helpful suggestion for the cocktails was most appreciated! When I tell you the service from home was outstanding that is simply understated as he was top notch and made our experience a very good one. He was polite , personable and very professional. The ambiance was great and we sat overlooking the grounds of the zoo which were decorated for the Halloween festivities happening. Get there early for parking this month with this event going on ! Menu has over priced items that were completely junk. I ordered a Caesar salad with crispy chicken. The salad arrived and the chicken was a "flat chicken patty" that had been cut up and wasn't even crispy, yet was very expensive. People who eat here are getting ripped off, unless that is what people expect out here? A McDonalds would have been 1000 times better. Then I looked into the crowd and notice a bunch of low class people, so they might have not noticed the difference between good food and rotten food but think paying high price for dinner means good food? read more

Our family of 13 had an early dinner on Sunday afternoon. Everyone enjoyed their meal. All the meals were served to the table with perfect timing and nice and hot! I had the butternut squash ravioli dish that was delightful. Our Server Stephen was so fantastic. So patient and pleasant. Cool idea being in the zoo and was better than what I expected of a restaurant connected to a zoo. I will preface by saying I'm boston based. I found the prices to be fare and the inside to be nice. Our server was so kind and attentive. The food however was just very average. Nothing was bad but I wouldn't go back for any of the dishes we got. This is the restaurant in southwick zoo, though you can also visit without going into the zoo. I had low expectations for zoo food but this is actually a nice sit down restaurant with decent food. Unfortunately all the tables by the windows to the zoo were taken but we had a good time here. Their mussels, burger, and brownie sundae were particular standouts. Service was friendly but somewhat lacking and we had to get our own plates, napkins, at some point but they were really busy. read more

Our main event for the day was visiting the Southwick Zoo. We hadn't planned our meal or what we'd eat or where we'd go after - we were new inhabitants to MA so our knowledge was limited - we finished, so I personally was happy to see an actual sit-down restaurant on the property. I'm used to walk-up windows, bad packaged snacks, and junk food as standard zoo/amusement fare. We decided to give it a try, based off time & convenience. I have to say I was a HAPPY camper! The food was simple. Not overly orchestrated, but it hit the spot! And it wasn't all carbs. There were very balanced choices which I appreciated. And more than that, the flavors were just right. After living in MA for three years & eating at many of the "popular" highly-rated spots, MA in general has a hard time flavoring food. Many places have food that looks great, but falls short on taste. Galliford's was not one of them. So kudos to Galliford's! Don't leave the zoo without breaking bread there. read more

Everything is amazing at Galliford's.. the food.. so many different things to choose for your meal! The workers are friendly and attentive! The atmosphere is warm and spacious! Galliford's is a bit off the main drag being located at the Southwick Zoo but it's a beautiful building. The restaurant is described as 'New England comfort food' and that is a true description. My wife had a salmon dish and really enjoyed, while I had a special for the day of bangers and mash, which was very good and plentiful. The menu is not fine dining but offers some great sounding dishes. One of the highlights of our visit was the friendly staff and especially Aaron at the bar. Great service all around and it's refreshing to find an engaging bartender. I recommend a visit!! read more

Can't believe how good the food was. We didn't have high expectations due to them being in the zoo but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything was delicious, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Epic find out at the Southwick Zoo. One would think that such a place would be better suited for a downtown location, but it's rather perfect right where it is. The plan was to grab food before going into the zoo, we saw that Galliford's was right on site and decided to try it out. We went in blind mind you. No research, no nothing. How pleased we were with this place: the good, the service, the atmosphere. It's a real gem! since it was nice outside, we asked to sit on the patio. they have two, both small, so you got to grab a table quickly. ours was over by the chairlift.. not much to see, but you could feel and hear the excitement of the zoo. it was also close to the bar, so our server was the bartender. I forget his name, but he was very attentive and offered superior service from start to finish. The food was impeccable. We split an order of wings, which had some kind of golden sauce, and then split a fried chicken sandwich. The wing sauce was so good we asked for extra with the sandwich! Hard to believe, but there is an amazing restaurant right at Southwick's Zoo. We got to the zoo around lunchtime so we thought that we would give them a try. I went with the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, and it did not disappoint! Piping hot and juicy, as fresh as could be. The French fries were equally as impressive. The service was great and their price was more than reasonable. Why go to one of those cheap stands at the zoo? Go to a real restaurant that is really good! read more

This restaurant is located in the same space as the Southwick zoo so during the day when eating for lunch you can see the animals at the zoo which is pretty fun. The food is a good variety of pizza, burgers and salads. The pizzas here are amazing as they have a brick oven. Otherwise the other options on the menu are average, good but nothing exceptional. It is a fun place to eat after a long day at the zoo or even to go even if you don't visit the zoo. It is decently priced and the staff is friendly and attentive as well. read more

Galliford's was a pleasant surprise located less than 3 miles from my house in Uxbridge. The restaurant is part of Southwick Zoo. The interior is large with a rugged yet tastefully furnished main dining area. The bar section is well stocked and boasts several TVs. An atrium stretches the length of the restaurant and overlooks some of the animal habitats. A brick pizza oven highlights the kitchen area. We went on a Thursday evening and sat at the bar. We ordered martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives which were delicious. Thursday special is Build your own burger. I ordered medium with cheddar and jalapeños. My partner ordered medium with avocado, bacon and jalapeños. The burgers were perfectly cooked. The bacon was missing, but the bartender quickly served 5 slices from the kitchen. Overall, dining at Galliford's was a pleasant experience and we'll be back and have the Cowboy ribeye and braised short-ribs. read more

I have to edit my review from last year.... I've only been here for the Sunday Brunch, and I'm sad to leave this 2 star review because the first time we went here, it was really good. At $38 per person, its very expensive, for what it is. The ambiance is pleasant, and if you are lucky, you will get a nice view of some of the zoo animals from your table. The servers we had during both of our visits here, were great. The food though, not so much. The variety includes your average breakfast items such as the usual waffles, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, and pastries... However - there was one only or two options for chicken/fish. All the food items sit in chafing pans with sterno burners below. During our dining experience, the French toast and waffles were soggy, and the cinnamon rolls were undercooked and doughy. There is a small carving station where the meat is hand cut at the customers request, but the slices are so thin it mimics deli meat. The roasts sit under a heat lamp, however it was barely luke warm when it was served, and basically cold by the time we returned to our table. I had a few slices of the sashimi smoked salmon. I felt SO sick when I got home, which continued into the following two days. I'm sorry to say I won't be back here for several of the reasons I have explained in this review. read more

I love that they change out their meal options due to seasonality. The cocktails here are good and they have a decent local beer selection. We choose Gallifords to celebrate Christmas with our therapy team. It was perfect. There were 12 of us, the ambiance was festive and beautiful. Our waiter Josh was amazing. He was patient, pleasant and very helpful. He timed our cocktails, apps and entree's perfect. The food was very good. The majority of us had the steak tips and they were an A plus! Just went in to watch half of the Pats game. Had a couple drinks and some wings! Wings had plenty of sauce on them and had good flavor (we picked garlic Parmesan). The only bad thing was they were the smallest wings ever. All in all, I'd go back again! read more

We held a family bereavement gathering here just last week, utilizing the function room on the lower level. From our first contact with the event planning personnel, especially Sara, we knew this was the place. Then we saw the room, which was bright, welcoming and spacious. The outdoor patio was perfect when folks need a breath of fresh air, and the bar was perfectly placed for convenient use. Also, we had restrooms that were just for our guests. With elevator access to this floor, even our elderly family members were able to join in. Now for the food. We opted for the Italian buffet and the food was plentiful, hot, and delicious! Chicken parm portions were perfectly sized and the Caesar salad was truly yummy. And if I'm ranting about how good the green beans were (when I don't really like green beans), you can tell it was so worthwhile. Our waitstaff couldn't have been more attentive and helpful. They handled our special requests of gluten free meals and vegan meals for a couple of our guests with grace and dignity. I look forward to coming back for a happier event, but would highly recommend Galliford's for any event you need planned to perfection. read more
